![]() I organize ENWorld's Chicago Gameday and wanted to let Paizo fans know that we have a Pathfinder event at the upcoming Gameday 28. There are currently seats available for five players. Chicago Gameday is a day of free RPG gaming held at Games Plus in Mount prospect, IL. The Pathfinder event begins at 9:30am on Feb 26th. To sign up for Gameday, post in our sign-up thread over on ENworld. Just mention which games(s) you want in on. Here's the event description: The Pallid Plague Reports from Andoran's Darkmoon Vale indicate that a new plague is causing the deaths of untold fey. The Pathfinder Society sends you there to aid the nymph queen in stopping the plague and finding and destroying its source. When the plague spreads to the human population of Falcon's Hollow, the need to find a cure grows more frantic. Can you save the many denizens of Darkmoon Vale from certain death? Written by Mark Moreland This product is a Pathfinder Society Scenario designed for 1st to 7th level characters (Tiers: 1–2, 3–4, and 6–7). This scenario is designed for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play, but can easily be adapted for use with any world. This scenario is compliant with the Open Game License (OGL) and is suitable for use with the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game. You can either create your own 1st level character, under the rules of the Pathfinder Society Guide to Organized Play (PFRPG). (I also recommend using the PF SRD for some information and tips as well. Make sure to chose a character faction -- faction missions can be fun.) Or you can bring an existing Pathfinder Society character or you can run one of the Pathfinder iconics.. ![]()
![]() Lisa Stevens wrote: I looked through that thread and had the same reaction that you did. I was shocked how absolutely hurt Buzz was that we hadn't committed to 4e already and that he felt so betrayed. Then when he talked about missing Pathfinder in his mailbox every month, it... Hey, I'm famous! :D For the record, "hurt" and "betrayed" are probably putting a bit strong, at least as I look back now. Nonetheless, I was pretty bummed. Paizo makes some damn good products, and I thought the Pathfinder monthly adventure concept was pretty cool. I was happy to give them my money. And getting pretty RPG books in my mailbox each month? Bonus! Still, I've cut *way* back on my RPG spending; I have no interest in repeating the splurging I did during the d20 boom. My group is really excited about 4e, so I know I'm not going to have much use for 3.5/Pathfinder product, no matter how pretty it is. :) But, yeah, you guys do a bang-up job, and it made an impact with me. Good customer service is critical in this little hobby of ours. Mind you, I still order stuff from you guys... and will definitely be checking out the 4e stuff Necromancer does via Paizo. ![]()
![]() Eric Tillemans wrote: Actually, I believe WotC has stated they will be core PHB released each year. No, they have not. All the available info says that each year WotC will release supplemental core books. E.g., PHB2, DMG2, MM2. ![]()
![]() Erik Mona wrote: I remain hopeful that 4e will be that system, but whether or not we're ready to go at minute 1 at Gen Con is becoming less and less important to me with each passing week. And that's fine; exactly what I was saying upthread. Support 4e (and thus stay in business), but do it when you feel Paizo is in the best position to do so. If possible (i.e, profitable), offer an update for any AP that came out during the transition period. ![]()
![]() People who want to stick with 3.5 already own the books they need. A genuinely useful "3.75" has already been released; it's called WotC's Rules Compendium. The 3.5 core rules are also permanently in the public domain via the current OGL. There no success to be had producing third-party "3.75". I'm sure various publishers will try it, thus splintering the market of those few people even interested in purchasing such a product. You might as well set your money on fire. (Granted, RPG publishers have a history of doing just that, but we know Paizo is not so naive.) ![]()
![]() I still think the sensible business decision is not "whether" but "when". Supporting 4e should be a foregone conclusion, but I don't see the issue being time critical. If WotC doesn't get Paizo the new rules in time for the new core book release, so what? Finish up whatever adventure path you're working on and shoot for 4e support on the next one. Seriously, I don't see any reason why this is a decision that needs to be made now or never. Just wait for a time when you will be able to support 4e to a level you find up to your standards. Then, go gangbusters and offer updates for previously-released product (if possible). ![]()
![]() Just curious if there were any plans to produce, in particular, non-fantasy themed FlipMats or a Combat Pad. I'd love to see a general modern/SF version of each of these. Horror/Cthulhu versions would also be nifty, IMO. If there are no such plans, consider this a request, and file it where you may. :) ![]()
![]() I love Paizo. Nonetheless, I don't need yet another 3.x variant FRPG. I've already got AU/AE, IH, and Midnight, not to mention the scads of WotC product that I've barely even read. Not that I wouldn't check it out if you produced one, but it's simply not an option I would recommend. Honestly, an actual refusal to move to 4e on Paizo's part would probably make me stop buying your products. Maybe I'm alone (I doubt it), but I am really looking forward to 4e. That said, I don't really understand the problem. Barring any actual change to the OGL text, Paizo is going to have the same freedom to publish product that they do now. As for the timing, so what? Why does it matter that you haven't seen an SRD yet? Paizo has already (IIRC) announced plans to released True20 and C&C stats for their Pathfinder products. If you can do that, why can't you release 4e stats, too? I mean, seriously, hordes of people in this thread have said that it's the quality of Paizo's adventures, not the system they're tied to, that keeps them coming back. As long as Paizo makes a commitment to releasing 4e stats for upcoming products, what does it matter that said stats might not be released in time for GenCon '08? Heck, I was planning on stopping my Pathfinder sub after RotRL ended to wait for 4e Paizo product. But if you guys commit to supporting the 3.5 entries in the line with 4e web enhancements, you'll have my subscription for life! Ignoring 4e and producing a Pathfinder RPG will consign you to oblivion. Don't do it. ![]()
![]() I'd like to solicit the community (and staff, if they're inclined) to recommend some adventures from Dungeon that would make for good one-shot sessions at a convention/gameday. We're talking six players and 4 to 4.5 hours from start to fniish. IIRC, I've got every issue dating back to somewhere in 2002. Thanks in advance! |
