Zogar also hears this plea! Zogar waits, and drinks all the ale.

I'm going to be away on Saturday, just so you know.

I'd forgotten about the light! Good thing the rest of you have it covered, Zogar fights 2-handed.

"Something lurks in that hole. Beware!"

"I would like to know how that demon penetrated the city's defenses. We will not have a dragon to save us should it happen again." Zogar seemed to take it as fact that they would reach the city again.

He climbed up after Allriane, squeezing his bulk through the hole. He wrinkled his nose at the stinking hole, his sword drawn once more, and looked down the eastern tunnel.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22

Iomedae, with the rope knotted it should have been easier to climb. Also, wasn't the ring a ring of climbing?
I already mentioned climbing up after the others. Did I need to roll?

Climb, just in case: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

"Mere fish are not worthy opponents. Give me a demon to slice apart!" Zogar proclaimed, emphasizing his words with a thrust of his sword.

Male Human (Kellid) Fighter 1/Ranger 1; HP 16; AC 17/13/14; CMD 18; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +1 (+2 vs demons); Init +3; Perception +6/8 evil outsiders

"I hear you," Zogar agreed. He waited for the others to climb up successfully before leaving the oversized fish dinners to their own devices.

On reaching the top, he examined the ladder suspiciously, scrunching the scars on his cheek. "Aranthis, does your knowledge of metalwork tell you this pile of rust will hold my weight?" The hulking Kellid frowned as he peered up where the ladder went. "Would that we knew how to open this again should it close behind us."

Male Human (Kellid) Fighter 1/Ranger 1; HP 16; AC 17/13/14; CMD 18; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +1 (+2 vs demons); Init +3; Perception +6/8 evil outsiders

Wait, the ladder is down with us? I read it as the ladder being up with Aranthis. Clarification, DM?

Take 10 to swim?

Zogar reached the door a moment later, and peered inside with his sword as ready as it could be when treading water.

Oops, forgot about Aranthis' missing net access.

I've got guests today, so I apologize in advance for being slow to respond.

Grunting at Iomedae's thanks, Zogar drew his sword as well. He, too, looked around for trouble, fish, or anything of interest. "Maybe we will eat the hunters. Ha!"

That's what I was thinking, too.

Zogar's bulging arms strained as he lowered Iomedae down to the fish. Then he followed her down.

"We can tie knots in the rope to make climbing down and out again easier. Re-tie yourself to the end of the mongrelfolk's rope, and I will lower you," Zogar suggested. If Iomedae's failure to climb down had amused him, it was impossible to tell on his craggy face. "Brace yourself against the wall, and Seraphine."

Male Human (Kellid) Fighter 1/Ranger 1; HP 16; AC 17/13/14; CMD 18; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +1 (+2 vs demons); Init +3; Perception +6/8 evil outsiders

Well, I guess we're going down then. I suppose we could tie a rope around Iomedae and lower her down. ;) Or Allrianne could cast feather fall on her.
Are you still with us, Aranthis?

Male Human (Kellid) Fighter 1/Ranger 1; HP 16; AC 17/13/14; CMD 18; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +1 (+2 vs demons); Init +3; Perception +6/8 evil outsiders

Zogar only grunted at Iomedae's admission, dusting his hands off with a final look down the hole, before going to search for any doors they had missed.

"I would rather we checked elsewhere for trouble before venturing down a hole with no other way up than a rope easy to cut," Zogar rumbled. "Your idea with the bodies is good. Let us throw them down now, then return after our search, once the gar have had time to feast. Perhaps we will bring them dessert. Ha!"

He turned to go get the bodies, intending to toss them down the hole.

Male Human (Kellid) Fighter 1/Ranger 1; HP 16; AC 17/13/14; CMD 18; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +1 (+2 vs demons); Init +3; Perception +6/8 evil outsiders

Zogar gave Allrianne a suspicious look. "I do not know you well," he pointed out, seemingly uncaring of the screams below. Letting the rope fall to the floor beside him, he peered over the edge of the hole.

"I wonder what they thought they were fleeing to? I do not think they sought death," he mused. "If they thought they would be safe below, it is a path we will have to investigate, whatever waits in the water."

Zogar recklessly ran after it as well. On reaching the rope, he attempted to haul it back up.

"You don't approve of the cultists' decoration? Ha!" Zogar barked a laugh at his own little joke, then nodded towards the door Allrianne had indicated.

"Better that way than the way we came from. Shall I kick it down?"

Zogar's weathered face broke into a grimace that might have passed as a smile. "Already you show me wisdom," he grunted approvingly. "Let there be mercy for the mortal weak, but let all others die on our blades." He hefted his blade demonstratively.

"Now, let us go quickly. Do not allow them time to mount a solid defense."

Back to H10?

"You are welcome to go, but beware of ambush. They know we are here," Zogar rumbled, following Allriane back the way they had come.

Zogar's nose wrinkled in disgust at the state of the hallway. "Well do I know that demon worshipers are to be found in places as foul as their black hearts, but surely even they would not stoop to hiding in a midden. Let us go back the other way. Maybe we can catch another cultist, and it will tell us whether there is more to find this way."

Zogar's ready to kick down doors in the other direction, if no one has an objection.

Zogar flexed his arms and chest experimentally, then nodded his thanks to Aranthis. "Your Torag is a god skilled in healing as well," he said, thumping his chest. "Many are the virtues he teaches, and he has knitted my wound completely! You have my thanks."

He hefted his sword and pointed to the door. "Let us see what lies beyond. There are many cultists yet to slay, I would think." With that, he went over and kicked in the door in a manner that would become quite familiar.

I'm not sure if you have your gear with you, but if not, the mongrelwoman Zogar killed has a bow, and likely a few other things. We also disarmed some mongrelmen in the previous chamber, so even if your gear is elsewhere you should at least be armed.

DM, what do we do with Ghorza and Phoenix?

"A good choice," Zogar boomed. He bent to clean his sword on the fallen foe, but the glint of his blue eyes through the hair that fell over his face suggested he was still keeping an eye on them.

"Aranthis, does your god have healing for this wound?" He brushed his hand over his arrow wound, which was steadily trickling blood. He wiped his wet hand unceremoniously on his pants, frowning.

Male Human (Kellid) Fighter 1/Ranger 1; HP 16; AC 17/13/14; CMD 18; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +1 (+2 vs demons); Init +3; Perception +6/8 evil outsiders

After Aranthis had introduced them to the newcomers(?), Zogar nodded and poked a finger at them. "It is well that we found you before these demon-worshipers could do to you whatever it is they intended. We seek a path to the surface, and for good reasons it leads through these people who dwell below the city. If you are of good heart, maybe you will wish to join us? There will be danger, but no less than if you choose to stay behind, I think."

He paused, then added with narrowed eyes, "Unless you fear to take this path, and would prefer to remain with the good mongrelfolk we have met. They have a village, not far distant." The sneer he was trying to keep under control told them what he thought of that option. He eyed the tear-tracks on Iomedae's face suspiciously.

I'll take the scale of Sacred Weaponry, then.

Using his sword as a lever, Zogar helped Aranthis to open the crates. "What foul use would they have set these people to, to hold them so?" he boomed with a scowl.

The newcomers saw a towering Kellid clad in furs and fine chain, four ragged claw marks marring his weather-beaten right cheek and a whopping great sword in his hands. Blood dripped from where an arrow had been ripped from his flesh. For all that he appeared a savage, his blue eyes were keen and intelligent.

After seeing that the strangers were all right, he left the introductions to Aranthis and bent to search the mongrelwoman for useful items.

I like Allriane and Iomedae Starfall. Seraphine Fiammetta isn't bad, either. What about you, Aranthis?

Sounds fine to me, though the DM has final say, obviously. Anyone else want to weigh in?

I think we could use some arcane/divine magic, and a skill-focused character.

Ho! Does the call of adventure not ring loudly in your blood? Who will join us in our fight against evil?

I don't think we're that far into the first module, so it's not like there's a lot to catch up on. No takers?

Ripping the arrow free, Zogar cast it to the ground with a sneer. All the same, it was clear that the wound was serious enough by the way he grimaced when he re-gripped his greatsword.

I've assumed that Ghorza was just somewhere in the other room, but if we're using absolute positioning her current position is actually on the inside of the door.

Male Human (Kellid) Fighter 1/Ranger 1; HP 16; AC 17/13/14; CMD 18; Fort +4, Ref +5, Will +1 (+2 vs demons); Init +3; Perception +6/8 evil outsiders

So, no description? Are we all in the room? Who did Wenduag hit?
Also, did we lose Phoenix? Not sure we can make it through with just 2 players...

"A cultist with conviction! Lay down your bow or die now," Zogar snarled. By unspoken agreement, he and Ghorza moved to flank the mongrelman(?).

I don't see Wenduag on the map? Aranthis, let's hedge this fool in once we're in normal rounds.

"Perhaps they have seen the folly of worshipping demons," Zogar rumbled, cleaning his sword on the lizard's hide. "But I think not. If they heard the alarm, they have gone deeper to mount a defense." His grim face lightened a bit. "Maybe they will summon a demon against us." He jabbed at the air, looking forward to such a match.

He too looked around for anything of worth before going back out to kick in another door.

Zogar gave Lann a feral grin, but it was Phoenix he answered. "I think we should move on quickly, before those within can prepare a better defense, but information about what lies ahead would not be bad. I will threaten him with death if he does not comply." His grin turned to a scowl. "If he truly has given his soul to the demons, death is the only just reward for him."
