When the Starfinders report that they have the album, Zigvigix is excited.

"Wonderful! That was much faster than I expected! Well, I have a few things for you. Meet me at the art park again, and I can give you your reward!"

Being not far from the art park, the group actually arrives before Zigvigix.

{Here are my conquering heroes!} Ziggy broadcasts cheerily. {You've done wonderfully for your first day! The Society needs field agents like this. Here, have a look at what I brought you.}

Zigvigix presents the PCs with a large duffel bag. Within is a set of basic iridishell armor, a pair of incendiary grenades I, and 400 credits.

{I'm sorry about the money... I know it doesn't seem much for an assignment, but I have a budget I have to stick to and a headquarters to build. Good luck on your next mission, and don't forget to give my gift to Historia-7 when you see her. Have fun with the grenades, but don’t blow yourselves up—I like you!}

The next question is which faction to visit next?
* Radaszam of the Acquisitives?
* Historia-7 of the Dataphiles?
* Fitch of the Wayfinders?

Navasi calls up Zigvigix to report.

"Excellent news!" Zigvigix chirps over the comm. "I'll notify my people that they can begin clearing out the warehouse."

"But don't forget to pick up my present for Historia-7! I understand the lines are already getting long at local stores."

RxPregen wrote:
"I guess it's time to go. I am sure the media streams are already drawing even more attention on this warehouse..."

{Actually I don't think the media has caught on yet that the creature is in the warehouse. Hopefully you'll have things wrapped up before they do!}

Zigvigix gets up and nods towards you.

{Well then, let me wish you good luck! Call me when things are complete!}

{Of course!} Zigvigix nods vigorously. {The Stewards are expecting a group of Starfinders. Just show your insignia and they'll let you in.}

{Here is the warehouse's address,} says Zigvigix, and a file appears in your datastream. {Any other questions?}

{If you believe that you can capture the creature, then go ahead and do so. But beware! The creature is quite dangerous and has already killed. Your own safety comes first!}

{We exo-guardians have no particular interest in the creature, and if you turned it over to use alive we would likely donate it to some other organization. Perhaps another Starfinder faction, or more likely some outside group. I would actually prefer if you took care of this detail, if it comes up.}

{I do not mean 'incinerate' literally, of course, but if you kill the creature it would be nice if you dealt with the body somehow. The less work you leave for us, the better! We are eager to get started building our headquarters, and would prefer no delays.}

{As to what I could tell you about it...} the shirren thinks for a moment. {I could tell you quite a bit! But what I will tell you is that it has animal-level intelligence, and has already killed people on the station. As Starfinders you should learn to conduct your own research, so I will let you make your own inquiries.}

The Shirren's antennae quiver for a moment.

{As for the album, well... the thing is, Historia-7 has seemed very depressed lately. You see, her mentor disappeared in the Scoured Stars. I want to get her something nice to cheer her up. When I listen to Strawberry Machine Cake it always puts me in a good mood! But no, I don't care to line up with all the human hatchlings. I'm sure it will be an easy job for you though!}

{Welcome, new Starfinders! And congratulations!} the shirren’s voice telepathically projects. It has a much different "sound" than the computer voice you heard earlier, but it occurs to you that you are not in fact "hearing" the voice at all.

{My speech-name is Zigvigix, but feel free to call me Ziggy, if that would be easier for you. Have some rice candy to celebrate your graduation! Today is your big day!}

{When you are ready, I have two assignments I could use assistance with. The first is to help me secure a new headquarters on Absalom Station. I’ve been in talks with our station’s protectors, the Stewards, and they were kind enough to give us ownership of a warehouse here in Downlow for that purpose! The current owners no longer want it because a vicious alien took it over and kills anyone who goes inside. The Stewards have cordoned off the warehouse. Once the alien is gone and the warehouse cargo has been returned to its owners, we can start installing desks and computers, so please go in and incinerate the creature!}

{My second assignment...} Zigvigix twitches their tooth barbs for a moment and then holds out a credstick.

{Please buy the brand-new Strawberry Machine Cake album, Star Sugar Heartlove!!!, which is out today, and give it to Historia-7 when you see her. She is the head of the Dataphiles, so you should meet her today! I wish to do it myself, but I... I have trouble standing for long periods of time. Thank you very much!}

The group places a comm call to Zigvigix, the leader of the Exo-Guardians.

The insectile face of a Shirren appears on the screen.

"Oh, Good!" says an obviously computer-generated voice. "Yes, Guidance informed me you would come to see me. I'm always pleased to meet new Starfinders!"

"Unfortunately, we don't presently have a proper headquarters for the Exo-Guardians. So we will have to arrange a meeting place. There is an art park, not far from my residence. I like to go there to relax. Perhaps we can meet there, in about 90 minutes? Excellent! I will see you soon," Zigvigix's computer voice chirps happily. An address and a set of directions appears in your datastream as the Shirren logs off.

Zigvigix cheerily answers the comm when you call.

"Hello?" says the computer-generated voice. "Wonderful news! Yes, let's meet in person again. Shall we meet at the art park again? Good. See you soon!"

Ziggy is at the same bench and gets up when the party arrives.

{Hello again, my friends, and congratulations! I'm very pleased you succeeded. It looks like you didn't come away unscathed. Is everyone all right? So what happened? Please tell me about the creature!}

Zigvigix nods as the group describes the battle.

{I am glad it worked out,} Zigvigix' telepathic 'voice' speaks in your mind. {We Exo-Guardians understand the need for combat skills better than any other group within the Starfinders. Not everyone appreciates our efforts, and the Starfinders have enemies, despite our noble approach. Or perhaps because of it! And you can't always talk your way out of a fight. It's important that new Starfinders know how to handle themselves. I am sorry that some of you were hurt, but that comes with the territory.}

{One thing I might recommend though: if you find yourself in a firefight, find yourself some cover! Surviving is more important than killing the enemy. If you can keep from getting hurt, you can outlast your enemy. If there's no cover, then just hit the dirt!}

Zigvigix picks up a duffel bag and places it on the bench. He opens it.

{This is for you, as a reward for your work. There's also a credstick here with 400 credits. I wish I could offer you more, but I think you'll find the stuff here useful. Have fun with the grenades, but don’t blow yourselves up—I like you!}

Inside the bag, there is one suit of Basic Iridishell armor and four Mark I Incendiary grenades.

You can chat with Ziggy if you want or we can move on.

Zigvigix holds out a credstick with 50 credits on it.

{Here... I don't expect you to pay your own money for the album. It's really more of a personal thing. But it is a limited edition, so please don't wait too long!}

{As for the warehouse, the Stewards currently are guarding it, but they are expecting you. Just show them your insignia and tell them why you're there.}

{Is there anything else you would like to know?}

Rising Dawn wrote:
"...Can you tell us any more about this killer alien?"

Zigvigix nods.

{Of course!} the telepathic voice resonates in your brain. {We think the creature is one known as a feather stalker. Despite the name it is actually quite dangerous, and not bird-like at all. Mind you, the sightings we have had have been fleeting at best. It seems to be quite good at hiding, and we may be wrong about the creature.}

Wint wrote:
"...Surely you just download the album to a datapad. Why do you need us to do that?"

{But then you wouldn't get the custom scent modules! Sure, you could download the sound, but the music experience isn't complete without the pleasing smells. Cinammon Rocket is the scent-organ player of Strawberry Machine Cake and she is very talented. Oh, also, the cover of the album has a collectible hologram of the band as a bonus, which is very nice.}

Stell Zee-Linn wrote:
She studies Ziggy's speech patterns, hoping to pick up any subtext to the seemingly simple assignment...

Stell can tell that clearly Zigvigix is a big fan of the band, and thinks they (the shirren is of the host gender, neither male or female) are telling the truth that they find the errand rather onerous to do themself.

Iolas wrote:
"...Didn't they also make Sweet Sweet Happy Time?..."

{Yes, that's the one! Though I'm not as big a fan of their early work as some people are. I prefer their later albums, such as Fire Engine Pink and Pastry Planet Pirates. Their later works have been more complex, full of confidence and maturity, but without giving up the energy of their early years.}
