Zevon peers into the darkness and listens intensely trying (but failing) to determine where the moaning comes from. He quietly whispers to himself ”well, he knows we’re here anyway…”
Zevon then shouts: ”Drakthar, show yourself! Stop hiding like a coward behind the backs of your pitiful minions! Or are you even weaker than them?”

Before following his companions and the goblin, Zevon quickly prepares himself as well - he fills his waterskin & some clay jugs with oil & reloads his mace. When the goblin leaves, Zevon takes the front, weapon ready, carefully further descending in the complex. He orders his wolf to take the lead and to warn the party of any danger the animal would sense. "let's go!"
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
"The voice we heard just now: is that Drakthar or only another minion? Is he close by? Or is he still in the area further down to the West?" After some consideration, Zevon pulls another animal from his bag 1d100 ⇒ 57 (wolf) "the animals have succeeded before in finding the vampire - so why not this time?"

I think I'm not the only one who thinks the current situation is not clear. In my mind, I saw us (IN GAME) finishing the exploration of the upper (goblin) level (in line with Rutseg's map/actions), going back up to the city, handing any remaining captive goblins to the authorities & preparing/equiping our selves to deal with the vampires in the lower level. This would then allow us to clear the situation (OUT GAME), particular to the who (PCs & DM) & other practicalities (system, ...)
In this view, I don't mind skipping over the actual exploration - but with the latest post I fear the unclear situation will not be resolved soon, which does not bode well for the further progress (survival?) of campaign. What do you all think?
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
With the goblins obviously not surrendering, Zevon shouts: "No surrender? Fine - I'll have you climb over your dead friends' bodies to get me!" He furiously attacks the goblins in front of him. mace attack @ purple: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 13 + 2 = 35; if hit - damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 edit - confirming critical hit confirm: 1d20 + 13 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 13 + 2 = 26; damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 I presume purple goblin goes down...
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
Seeing the tactical situation working out as planned (only one of the goblins can attack him unhindered, while the others are hampered by the walls and corners), Zevon again counters with a mighty sweep of his own. mace attack @ black: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30; if hit - damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12 If (black) goblin goes down:
Afther this mighty swing, Zevon adds:

Rutseg, I'm glad you decided to continue for now. Easily avoiding the attacks by the goblins (they seem to hinder each other attempting to strike at him), Zevon counters with a mighty sweep of his own. mace attack @ purple: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26; if hit - damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 If (purple) goblin goes down:

The heavily wounded bear menacingly strides towards the goblins in the corridor. With Daxur taking up a position in the room, Zevon takes his place at the entrance of the room and quickly looks around the corner (left and right) to better have an overview of the situation.
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
first of all: sense motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 "these goblins are playing us for a fool! They deserve any punishment they'll get from the authorities." Following Beauregard's statement about being surrounded, Zevon quickly leaps into action: he pushes the captive goblins in the corner and readies his weapon: "Beauregard, can you lock or block the door in the water room? Daxur, can you take a quick peak in the corridor? Lumen, can you see anything in the rooms we just left?" He continues "And why didn't that stupid bear react?" and shouts to his bear "Go on - attack the goblins!" (quick remark: if the doors are still open (we passed them once already & Zevon went already back through them) I believe Lumen may be able to see the red goblin in the corridor)
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
After checking the room with the stone basin, Zevon returns to the captive goblins. "I've got some questions for you. Answer quickly and truthfully and you'll live, ok? after a brief moment (but not really waiting for an answer) he continues: "Are there more of your friends down here? Where are they?
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
GM: small questions - these are the goblins who have been committing various crimes in Cauldron (or suspected thereof)? Do we know what would happen if we handed them over to the authorities - just in case: knowl. local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
"if you want to surrender, drop down your weapons and lay down on the floor with your hands behind your back" Zevon takes some rope and binds them in a rough manner if they don't obey swiftly enough. "Can somebody check the door and listen if there are more enemies behind it?"
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
Zevon quickly continues down the hallway and orders his bear to guard his back. He backs up #3 and attacks the (red) goblin, who tries to flank #3. mace attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15 - if hit: damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
In the crowded room it is difficult to position himself in a position to attack the goblins, but Zevon steps behind Lumen and quickly throws a dagger towards the green goblin dagger attack: 1d20 + 7 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 7 - 4 = 15 - if hit: damage: 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 "I'll try to get behind them" as he leaves the room, followed by the bear.
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
With the adrenaline rush slowly draining away:
Zevon turns to Lumen:
He continues, thinking out loud: "Let's see - when we first met the goblins they retreated to the east - let's start our sweep of the area there and continue in a counter-clockwise direction."
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 Zevon caught a quick glance of the fleeing creature before the darkness descended. As fast as he can he tries to stop it from fleeing, trusting his instincts to intercept the creature. mace attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
After an attempt to stabilize the defeated goblins & tying them up, Zevon follows his companions in the investigation of the rest of the complex. Surprised by the “flying carpets” – Zevon considered the bones being left-overs from the worg’s meals, he somehow managed to avoid the creature’s attack and instinctively takes a wild swing at his attacker, cursing: mace attack, 2point PA: 1d20 + 11 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 11 - 2 = 17; if hit: damage: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

With the last of the goblins defeated, Zevon turns to his companions: "everybody still fine? I had a feeling these goblins would not give us a free passage like they first seem to offer. Perhaps we should quickly check the rest of their quarters before heading further down, to avoid getting attacked in the back?" Zevon also quickly checks the goblins near him to see if one of them might still be in a sufficient state for interrogation. "Daxur, are your goblins dead, or do you think they might still be able to tell us something about what is further down?"
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
I presume Zevon is able to shoot above his comrades? if for any reason this is not possible - disregard this action Switching to his bow, Zevon takes aim at the remaining goblin on the ledge and lets his arrow fly. bow attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16; if hit: arrow damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

quick note: We are not in Sharn - Cauldron is located in the Black Cap Mts. a days ride north of the Black Pit and 5 days ride north west from Cragwar (is mentioned somewhere in the beginning of the campaign discussion thread), so a Cauldron-Sharn conversion is not necessary (but I won't stop you). I'm ok as well with a reboot - an in game reason is even not really necessary for me. Like Lumen, some character & plot details have become less clear over the passing months.
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
IIRC (but not checked), our characters got these special items, linked to a vision to some heroes from the past - of course this may in the current circumstances no longer be relevant. Zevon's magical items can be seen in his profile under the "possessions" spoiler.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss...

FYI - Zevon's bear comes from his bag of rust Zevon's bear, feathered by the arrows of the goblins, slowly crawls to a more secluded spot. Trying to dodge the goblin arrows, Zevon moves behind the Astral Construct, and takes a look at the tactical situation, ready to attack any goblin who comes near to him. edit: I adjusted Zevon's position on the map - seems to have worked at my end of the computer

(Ok – a bit taken by surprise by the regular posting) – my homework (I’ll try to make an in game post later) AP: it has been awhile – memory is getting a bit rusty. I recall we first investigated the missing orphans. Via Jzaridune we ended up in a fight with the main slaver (although we tried to bluff/reason first). There was at some point a beholder involved as well, IIRC. Anyway, we got a huge amount of cash which I/we spend on magic (so I don’t know if we are still within the wealth-by-level guidelines (but who cares – they are guidelines anyway)). Now we are after some goblin vandals & their vampire allies/overlords (we have some mirrors with us)
PC: I like Zevon – I remember we had some fun interparty discussions in the beginning. For my first PbP I wanted a not too (ruleswise) complex class. Personally I don’t mind changing to PF (have rulebook + PRD is available), although I am probably an exception on this messageboard being more familiar with 3.5 (we never converted in my “off-line” campaigns).

Easily evading the goblin's arrows, Zevon curses
Zevon moves towards the south passage and warns his friends:
Zevon and his bear move to the squares under the number 18, with the bear in front of Zevon
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
Zevon's bear continues to attack the worg: claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14 if hit, damage 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Zevon holds his action for now to see if the undead worg still moves after the assault of Lumen and the bear.

let's go HARD! Backed up by his companions and ordering his bear to charge the worg, Zevon charges the goblin deathknight and takes a mighty swing at his enemy. 1/ charging bear vs worg
2/mace attack, 2H, charging, 2pt power attack + activating special ability
3/spending action point for extra attack, mace attack, 2H, 2pt power attack
FYI, Zevon + bear are now positioned at the squares above WR on the map
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
Zevon quickly scans the situation: "if we stay here, we will be overwhelmed by the enemy (g on map). I'd say we charge the goblin with the worg. If necessary, we can try to hold them off in the nearby room (8). Who's with me?"
male human Fighter 3/Urban Ranger 1 (HP 45/55 -- action points 6/7 - perception +8)
"I don't think I have the time to retrieve the cask and break it open as well - the enemy is attacking! But wait a minute...". With a quick movement, Zevon drops his handy haversack from his shoulder "... perhaps you can do it - the cask of oil should be on top. I'll hold the line!" Zevon's other actions: @Shadowwalker: from the map it is not very clear where the skeletal goblin & worg are - are they marked 'G'? are they already in melee range or are they advancing?
