Before Allyph can step back out of the cabin, the spider tries to bite her again. She feels its hairy legs brush against her neck, but not the sting of the fangs. Fane deftly drops down to the lower walkway. He is soon joined by Eran. The light shining through from the opening above shows a narrow space beneath the fishery. Wooden pilings support the building. Moss and cobwebs hang thick from ropes and rusted chains. The ceiling is low, forcing them to crouch. A wooden walkway floats on the languid foamy rivers surface, winding along the outer pilings from the sodden hull of the abandoned ship to a low half-door in the understructure. Flickering light leaks out around the edges of the closed door. Allyph and Cardon make their way along the upper walkway to the ship. They keep a small distance between each other to keep the walkway from swaying too much beneath their combined weight. Cardon looks down at a slippery looking ladder leading to the old rowboat moored to the side of the pilings. As soon as Allyph gets close to the ship she realizes it isn't seaworthy. It's easy enough to climb over the side of the ship onto the deck but she isn't sure she wants to. The rotten deck of the ship seems to be barely intact, its hull worn and thick with seaweed and barnacles. The barge is held together by layers of old rope that lash it securely to the the pilings. A closed wooden door leading into the aft cabin bears a crude painting of a red fish. Hadric and Tolen watch Fane and Eran through the opening in the fishery's floor. As they watch, there's more splashing and they see a large form moving through the water. A large dorsal fin slices the surface and they disappears... It's a DC 5 Climb check to get down the ladder to the rowboat.

There's a sudden splash and then the body is dragged beneath the surface in a cloud of blood. Hookshanks laughs as he edges out of the room. Heh, heh. The urchins look puzzled as Cardon enters the room. They have a hard time believing his story—why would anyone want to help them? Mal shrinks back in horror when Fane’s scarred visage appears. She remembers Fane, but doesn’t recognize him. She was told Fane was killed in a back alley by city guards. They see Allyph moving past the door, obviously more concerned with pursuing Yargin than harming them. And the big barbarian with the great axe isn’t paying any attention to them either, even though they stabbed him with their daggers. When Eran appears behind Cardon and tells them he was once like them, they look at each other and slowly, tentatively, lower their daggers. What should we do? Mal asks, How will you protect us from Lamm? The street urchins look nervously from one to the other, unsure what to do next. Allyph opens the door with her dagger drawn. Down below, eight sets of eyes stare back at her. Yargin glares at her, a flask of acid in one hand and a wand in the other. Seven more orphans look up at her—some look uncertain but others look ready to fight. Tolen and Hadric are next. Initiative: Lamm’s Lambs initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20 Round 4

Yargin gulps loudly and all colour drains from his face. Stop them! he yells at the children, as he quickly turns and runs down the stairs, out of view in the next room. The street urchins look nervously from one to the other, unsure what to do next. Map All interior doors are open except for the one by Fane. Yargin withdraws as a full round action.

Knivesy's eyes pop open as Fane drives his blade into his throat. His eye’s fill with rage as we mouthes Fane. You bast… and then expires. Giggles dodges the ray of electricity from Allyph, but can’t doge the purple missiles from Eran. They slam into his body, leaving smoking scorch marks on his chest. Ungh, enough of the wizardry already, he groans. Come and fight like a man! He draws a dagger from his side and steps back into a defensive posture. Don’t listen to their lies! Yargin shouts from the other room, Stop them from entering or we’ll all be on the gallows!. After his command, you hear faint shuffling from the next room. Combat:
Knivesy's coup de grace Fort save (DC 25): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16 Knivesy is dead Allyph misses due to Giigles full defense and the -4 penalty for being in melee. Giggles is disabled.
Hadric, Cardon, and Tolen are up next. There are readied actions that will go of if anyone enters to H17, G17, or F17.

When I get off work tomorrow morning around 4am (after getting there at 5pm this evening), I have to immediately go home and get 3-4 hours of sleep so that I can drive back to the Dispatch Center 120 miles away to continue my employment testing for 3-4 hours, then drive back to be back at work around 6:30pm tomorrow evening, to work another 10-12 hour shift. I will be able to post once on Sunday, but I have church, my wife's birthday, and work that day so it will be a brief one. Then on Monday, busy season is over, and I will be back to regular posting, probably more than once per day. Wow, that's a busy schedule. I've been flat on my back these past few days with a nasty cold. I feel almost as bad as Giggles does right now. Sorry for the delays in posting.

Yargin snatches a bag from his belt and hurls it at Hadric. The bag flies well wide and smashes into the wall beside the door, leaving a black, sticky mess. Yargin gulps. That didn't quite go as planned. He smiles nervously, Finish him off Giggles! I uh, I've got to get reinforcements. He turns on his heel and scurries through the open door on his right. Allyph’s bolt of electricity snakes past Hadric’s head and catches Yargin in the chest. He smiles condescendingly at Allyph. You’ll have to do better than that dearie. Fane steps over Knivey’s sleeping body and enters a dark office. He can make out a desk heaped with dozens of slate boards by the light coming in through the partially open door in front of him. The door on his right is closed, but he can see light around its edges. Eran luches a bolt of purple ice at Giggles but it misses him, hitting the side of the building just over his head. Giggles grunts and stands up warily. Hadric notices an opening and slashes out with his great-axe, leaving a ribbon of blood across Giggles' chest. Who's laughing now, funny boy! Hadric bellows, I don't miss twice! Eran’s ice bolt misses Giggles due to the -4 penalty for firing into melee and Giggles' +4 AC bonus vs. ranged attacks for being prone. Giggles takes the total defense action.
