|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Well, with a -1 charisma, Zathan won't be terribly persuasive. But, to quote Jayne Cobb, "Pain is scary..." Zathan pulls out his handaxe, takes ahold of the bandit's ear, and touches the blade to it just enough to draw blood before looking to Sarah, as if to ask permission to proceed. Intimidate: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16 ![]()

|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Sarah, might want to double check your bonuses before you roll. Your sheet says +2 in both of those, but it also says you have an 18 CHA... ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Btw, a couple of us have taken damage. I have 7 damage, and Sarah got 6 in the same round. Is that all of it? Sarah, do you have any healing magic as a cleric, or is it only negative energy stuff? We should have thought to ask for a wand of CLW (or better yet, infernal healing) and maybe some potions when we were getting gear. Lay Z is here with us, right? Would he happen to have one? ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Zathan goes over and stands next to Jjagir. Somehow, they both look like they're waiting for the opportunity to eat the man. Sarah, you're up. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() We're out of initiative then, right? Zathan walks up to the remaining bandit and without speaking, grabs him by the hair, drags him over to the fire, and (assuming he doesn't resist and nobody else interferes) binds his hands and feet (yanking out a guyline from one of the tents if necessary). ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() B2 and B3 aren't on that list yet because, as of the GM's last check-in, they haven't taken any damage. ![]()

![]() Winst Ulbrage wrote: Depending on whether our GM wants us to stick to init order or not, Winst will either be hitting B3 or moving and hitting B2. Either or. B2 and B3 should both be up for you to attack. Neither had taken damage before this round, and assuming all of my attacks hit, I did 9 damage to B2 and 8 damage to B3, which is not enough to drop either of them. Your damage should drop B3, leaving B2 with 2hp and Sarah and Billy both in position to attack him this round. Zathan also moved close enough to AoO if he tries to run. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Zathan meets the bandit's eyes as the sharp point of the rapier sinks into his flesh. With his gaze locked, Zathan brings up his hand, the one still clutching the spear, and jabs it into the man's jaw (this one is lethal damage). Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 = 171d6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8 When the man's head snaps back, Zathan is gone, having moved beside him in a "stick and move" maneuver (5ft step, no other mechanical effect other than getting him closer to B2). ![]()

|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Winst, if you do a charge, you can move twice your speed and then attack (with a +2 on the attack roll). With a speed of 20ft, that's exactly enough movement to get you to the square next to Zathan, where you can attack B3. After that, if he continues to run away, we both get AoOs, which should be enough to take him out. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Btw, if we want to try the thing where we take their clothes and pretend to be them to get into their camp, we should make sure we take them all out. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() I think I just took out B1, kept him alive for questioning, and I have B3 covered as well. If you can hit B8, you should be able to take him down... ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() I take it you're both delaying your actions? Zathan nods, as if some decision had been reached, and charges after the bandits, whistling for Jjagir to come along. As he reaches them, he jumps up into the air and swings his elbow into the head of one of the bandits (B1), trying to knock him out (switching to nonlethal damage, which brawlers can do without penalty). Unarmed Strike (nonlethal): 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 + 2 = 201d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Also realized I've been forgetting the bonus from Bless. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Seeing the bandits retreat, Zathan looks to the others. Though he doesn't speak, the hard, cold look on his face is unusually expressive, as if to say "I have no intention of letting them get away." I added more grid, since we're probably going to need it if we decide to chase them, which is what Zathan intends to do. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Zathan didn't volunteer to be leader, but he joined the fight anyway. Probably not the best choice for leader though, what with the 8 charisma and barely speaking Common. I think we threw continuity out the window when we ignored the fact that 2/3 of the PCs, including everyone but Sarah and Zathan who participated in that fight, just disappeared. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Btw, do we have a unit leader at this point? I think all of the people who were chosen have since quit. Based on class choices, Winst would seem the most obvious candidate. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() According to her archetype, Sarah channels void energy, which would damage the bandits, not heal us. They get a Fortitude save for half damage (instead of the usual Will save), though I think the minimum damage rule applies here, so a successful save in this case would turn it into one point of nonlethal damage. Edit: Which I believe means that B6 is dead, or unconscious if he makes his save. Now there's the question of whether we want to chase the survivors. Do we want to keep them from reporting back? Do we want to question one of them? Or, alternatively, do we want to track them and see where they go? ![]()

![]() That second "handle animal" roll (the one that included a damage roll) was supposed to say "attack". Noticed too late to edit. Oops. ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Heh, crit on claw 1 had the same damage as the claw 2 attack (which I assume missed). Oh well... I guess I can go ahead and roll this conditionally... Directing Jjagir to continue his attack (which I don't think is necessary, but in the interest of keeping things moving...), Zathan looks between the two men in front of him (B4 and B7), evaluating the damage already done, and kicks the one who looks like he's in worse shape (unless one of them went down, in which case he'll go for the other one). Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Then, glancing behind him and seeing the young boy moving dangerously close to combat, Zathan moves to defend him, holding his spear out and daring the bandits he leaves behind to follow (this movement will provoke AoOs from B4 and B7 if they are still up). ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() My next action will depend on how my AoOs resolved... ![]()
|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() Using his heightened awareness and reflexes (combat reflexes), Zathan unleashes three attacks at those around him as they move, swinging another kick at the bandit he just attacked as he moves away while he uses his spear to jab at both of the approaching bandits (reach weapon means they have to move out of a threatened square to move adjacent). AoO with spear vs. B4: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 181d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

![]() Content with the damage he has done to the first bandit for now, Zathan directs Jjagir to finish him off as he moves, skirting the reach of the wounded bandit and the one next to him, to attack another of the hostiles (B8). He steps more quickly now (though still only taking a single move action), holding his spear behind him as if preparing to thrust, but he surprises the man by stepping too close to be effective with the long, spindly pike. Instead, Zathan kicks the man, and as he does so, he levels his spear in the other direction to threaten the two men behind him (B4 and B7). Unarmed Strike: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 4 + 1 = 181d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9

|character sheet| Male Human Brawler (Wild Child) 1
![]() As the bandit approaches, Zathan thrusts the spear directly toward the man's face from behind his shield. By keeping the spear pointed at him, he ensures that it's profile is foreshortened, ensuring that he won't see it until the last possible second. No mechanical effect, just trying to add some flavor to his fighting style. Attack of Opportunity with spear: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10 ![]()

![]() Keeping his shield ahead of him and dragging his spear behind to keep it out of sight, Zathan walks calmly but with purpose toward the interlopers. Stopping after 30ft, he eyes them threateningly, daring them to charge as he mentally prepares himself, watching closely so that he can strike at any that come within range. Use Martial flexibility to activate Combat Reflexes. He adjusts his fingering on the spear, preparing it to strike any attackers before they can reach him. Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 Jjagir follows closely behind. ![]()

![]() Zathan raises the chain shirt and inspects it for a moment before working his way inside. He then hefts the shield, affixes it to his arm, and swings it around a bit, feeling its weight. He then picks up the slender spear in his other hand and practices swinging it around and thrusting it a couple of times. It is a bit awkward using such a long weapon one-handed, but he decides that it will suit his needs. ![]()

![]() As they enter the bunkroom Jjagir casually climbs atop one of the beds closest to the door, manages to walk in a circle on the narrow mattress, then lies down at the foot of the bed and watches the other recruits. Zathan follows, and scratches the cat behind the ear before sitting down on the bed and removing his worn shoes. As the others choose their bunks and settle into them, he reflects on what an odd, missfit group he finds himself in. Some of them fought, while others simply watched, and among those who fought there were some who were more effective than others, though one such fight does not always give a fair accounting of such things. Still, he could see that some had magical abilities, while others fought more like himself. Two even seemed to have dragons' blood. A strange lot indeed. He makes note of the one who summoned a creature to help him fight, with facial features similar to his own, different from the others. His long, silver hair and slender body are different though, and he speaks in a strange tongue, so perhaps the similarity is only superficial. He briefly considers seeing if he also speaks Tien, but is a bit afraid that the others will think the man a coward for avoiding combat, and that he might not be the best member of the group to associate with. As he lies down and closes his eyes, he replays the events of the day, evaluating in turn what he has learned of each of the others: those who fought and those who watched, those who speak boisterously and those keep to themselves. Zathan is still uncertain as to why they are here, but it seems clear that they will be expected to fight, both alongside and possibly against one another, and as he drifts off to sleep, he imagines how each possible scenario would play out. ![]()

![]() Retconning... Seeing the damage already done to B7, Zathan sends Jjagir in to attack first. As he had hoped, the beast's bite brings the man to the ground, no longer a threat. Zathan takes the opportunity to make his way across the battlefield, to where there are two bandits that nobody has yet been able to touch. As he moves, he glances to those who have remained at the tree line, trying to figure out if they truly only plan to observe, or if he and the others will soon have a second wave to fight. Stepping lightly, he manages to avoid B4's attention, and brings a fist up into the man's lower back, where his kidney is minimally protected. It took nearly a week to recover when I was hit there. If he survives this fight, he'll try harder to protect that spot in the future.
