MIDDLE HOLD DAY TWO (since this was during the day) "Easy there, Owlbear. You're doing a great job watching the stairs - you saw me, isn't that right?" Zarvas ponders a moment. "Though that might not do you much good, since we haven't met before, and so you don't know who I am." I cannot stress here enough the importance of the fact that I'm still disguised as a gnome right now, lol. I pray to Calistria and prepare my spells around sundown each evening - as such, I'll go ahead and swap those around at this point. MAIN DECK NIGHT TWO Just to check up on this - is Badger on deck and participating in any games, and if not, are any of the other party members playing any games that haven't already been resolved, so that I might do a bit of heckling? THE RIGGING DAY THREE Zarvas climbs up next to the Halfling an hour or so into the workday, awaiting a good opportunity when his antagonists are occupied elsewehere. Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11Ugh... Butts. "You alright there, Rats? Bastards seem to be giving you an extra rough time today," he says with concern, nodding toward them as they sabotage his work.

Eskilline Mendric the IV wrote: Actually, he's just looking at the pictures. Yeah, that's what I said :p So I'd argue that, being that these are humanoid races, they'd have reproductive traits similar to humans as well, possibly with some things along the same lines of the creatures they resemble in there too. Especially considering humans get that one alternate racial feature that allows them to be treated as part of some other race, without any restrictions on which of those apply. Also, Zarvas isn't necessarily looking to reproduce, either, just saying.

MIDDLE HOLD: Zarvas takes a moment to examine the unfortunate man's condition. Heal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15 After a few minutes looking him over, Zarvas casts Disguise Self, changing his appearance to that of an unremarkable gnome man. He gently rouses the man to talk with him. "Ye gods, mate! Whose soup did you piss in to end up down here? DAY THREE: I'd like to take today to watch the ship's crew again. Today I'm keeping an eye out mostly to see who's getting pushed around and bullied more than normal (for the sake of keeping things interesting, preferably nobody I've yet interacted with), and then at an opportune moment go talk with them. If somehow nobody appears to be getting extra oppressed today, I'll just go back to working diligently and people watching. NIGHT THREE: This is gonna largely depend on how last night went, so I'll hold off until we've dealt with that.

DAY TWO: Growing a bit more confident in his abilities as rigger, Zarvas decides to do a bit of expression on the middle hold, figuring no on no one paying too much attention to his location so long as the ship keeps moving and doesn't fall apart.
NIGHT TWO:
And I'll finish up with the next day/night later today.

And when it reaches my turn again... Damn, damn, damn. I can't just leave the poor bastards to get trounced... Zarvas turns around, and, getting within range of Zale, Es, and Esk, brandishes his wooden symbol and channels a flow of heading energy.
Ehh... better than a one. At least now everybody's conscious again.

Crap I'm sorry! Just moved to a new city and things have been a little bit hectic. Things should improve from here though. Unfortunately, however, my only internet access for now is mobile data on my phone which won't run flash on roll20, so as for combat maps I'll be a bit in the dark.
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Are any of these my acquaintances from last night, or are we getting popular enough to have people hating us by the dozens now? Still a bit hungover, Zarvas cracks open a single bulging eye, sighs, and hops down to the floor. Damn it all, could they not have waited til after breakfast? While the new group of assailants focus on the Strix, Zarvas slinks behind some cover, but stays as close to the action as he can manage while avoiding detection.
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Man you have no idea. Online and off, it's like they know it's me rolling them, and they have to bring me down, lol. I've gone entire sessions without making a successful check - it's awful. Zarvas pats her on the side of the leg. "Let's get to it, then!"
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 lol and there we go again. This sounds like it'll be a great thing to get involved in, apparently. "Hm, I don't know, Badger. If I have to keep getting axes thrown at me all night, I feel like I should ask for 25%," says Zarvas smiling wryly up at the woman towering over him.
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Hah alright, guess that works. Zarvas hops on down to the deck next to the woman. "Sorry about all that - didn't mean to get anybody else caught up in that, but I can't say I'm disappointed he took a thrashing. I'm Zarvas Veranghi - who might you be? I feel it's safe to assume that wasn't your given name he used."
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
lol I think you may have misunderstood my intent. I want him to know it was me, and hopefully as many others as I can manage, too. "What, are you deaf now, too? I'm up here, Jackass Jape!" I'd like to ready another casting of create water for as soon as he tries to speak to me again. "I'm sorry, what was that? I couldn't hear you!" I'd also like to try and get an idea of how many people are noticing and what their reactions are. Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 lol it figures the first time I make a half decent social skill check it's to find out the men who beat and kidnapped me aren't my pals. "As you wish, Mr. Jape. So sorry to bother you." Sandara just said to keep clear of the bosses. I suppose that makes their goons fair game. Zarvas then climbs up the nearby mast, finds a comfortable spot along the boom, and shouts at the top of his shrill voice, "Hey Jaundice! You stink like dead rat. Time to wash up!"
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
[Ooc]Ok, let's get a quick tactical read then. How drunk is good Mr. Half-Orc, how close is the nearest mast/climbing thing, and does my new pal seem to be at all popular with the other crewmembers?[ooc] Zarvas chuckles hollowly. "Pond. That's very funny. Tell me, tall fellow - what's your name?"
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Let me take a moment to apologize in advance if I take a little bit of time between posts over this next week or so - I'm in the process of moving out of state, and it's been a little bit hectic. I'll do what I can to keep up with everything though. Or maybe I'll do something stupid to get my character killed before the first day is out, in which case no worries, lol.
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Okay, let's go influence! Donning his wee suit of armor, Zarvas scouts the deck for the strongest, most unsavory looking character he can spot (of course, not counting those in positions of power). If I can't give Plugg and Scourge what they deserve, then in the meantime I'll just have to find something else to avenge. "Hey, big guy. How the hell did they ever manage to drag a tough fellow you aboard this rig?"

Knowledge(Religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11"Besmara? I know much less about her than I'd like, especially being somewhere she's revered so highly. I'm a devout follower of Calistria, myself. We'll have to compare notes, I think..."
Zarvas graciously accepts the suit of armor, and, never one to turn down a strong glass, Zarvas eagerly quaffs his thimble of rum, raising it in salute only after it's drained.
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Trying to keep his expression as free of revulsion as possible during the brutal tortuous death of the man known as Jakes, Zarvas clutches his wooden holy triptych and says a silent prayer to Calistria. I don't care what the hells he stole - he didn't earn a death like that. By your hand, I shall be this man's instrument of vengeance. By your will, these brutes Scourge and Plugg shall know your sting.

During the day, as caught up in his tasks as he may be, Zarvas is also going to be exploiting his vantage point to observe the ship's other crewmembers, for now mostly with the aim of learning physical appearances, overt physical mannerisms, and place in the social dynamic of the vessel. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Zarvas hurries excitedly about his first day of work, momentarily letting himself forget about his current predicament. At least for now, Zarvas is getting super into handling the rigging and works diligently. Take 10 on climb=21; Profession (sailor): 1d20 + 7 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 7 + 4 = 20

The Changing Tide wrote: Yeah Zale got caught, he doesn't fall and all is good in the world. I'll have part two up now in a bit. Just got home from work, and looking through submissions for Team 2 (Oh lord what have I gotten myself in to there?!). Haha who all did you pick for that one?
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Lol yeah... he's okay at the climbing. As for the roll20, awesome. I love having combat maps. If you can use the frog pic I used for my description earlier, that'd work nicely; failing that, I'm not picky. I'd gladly settle for, say,a yellow circle with a brown dot in the middle.
Male Grippli Trickery Cleric 1 (Herald Caller)
Though still bitter about taking the whip lash earlier, Zarvas simply can't help but perk up at the mention of a climbing contest. The started reward cooks have been "first to the top gets pitched overboard" and he'd still have strongly considered it. Zarvas effortlessly shimmies his way up through the rigging and gives a triumphant laugh when he reaches the top. 20ft climb speed ftw! Taking 10s ask the way up, for a total of 17 each time. Assuming I get no interference, I get topside first, then jump and glide my way back down. Maybe this won't be so bad after all, if I get to do this all day. I'll still have to punish the bastards, but that can wait.

Bring raised among vengeful prostitutes, false subservience is practically a native tongue for Zervas. Giving a croaking groan, he says, "I'm with you, masters. Give the word and I'll do as you wish." Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 You oafs will regret this, and soon, mark me. As subtly as he can manage, the small, yellow frog-man searches his loose-fitting clothes, now caked with blood, for his holy symbol.

Hey, everybody! I'm excited to get this underway. My name's Nate, I work as a phone tech with Sprint, and I'm a singer on the side. I'm good about checking and posting regularly, and if at any point something comes up that might prevent that, I'll do my best to give a heads-up. My time zone is U.S. Eastern and I tend to keep pretty typical hours, just to give you some idea of when I'll be active. Also, since I didn't do this before... Backstory - the short version is Zarvas was raised among a cult of Calistria in Katapesh with his mother, where he loved exploring the heights and depths of the city. After he became a full cleric, he started to get antsy, left the city and started wandering. He then ended up in the Shackles, because of course he did. Appearance - something like this, though obviously a bit more humanoid-shaped. And with clothes. Usually. Motivation - to explore the world, to experience new and unusual sensations, and to spread the glory of Calistria to all who will listen (and many who would rather not)! Favorite color - maroon Favorite meal - though Zarvas is far from picky when it comes to his bugs, he has recently acquired a particular taste for dragonflies, and gobbles up any he can find with gusto. Theme song - ehh, I'll get back to you on that. |
