Adherents

Not that she expected them to answer considering how focused they were but giving compliments came easily to Zahra. "Your garments are beautiful and wonderfully made."

Something Haseena had told her once made her wonder...clothes that expensive could be magicked. So when they were focused on the door and no longer paying them any mind, the sorceress quietly spoke words to allow her to see magical auras. She wasn't surprised to see that all their robes radiated magic.

Dwarves

Relief showed plainly on Zahra's face when Guthan told her that Caydren would be okay. "I'm glad. You all have been through a lot already."

When Guthan continued, she nodded in agreement, "You have definitely demonstrated perseverance." Her face fell when he said that this was their last challenge. "It's completely understandable but you will be missed. It was nice having honourable competitors such as yourselves."

She leaned in as Guthan's voice got quieter. She listened intently as he told her about what they had experienced in their portcullis challenge. "Thank you, Guthan."

At the mention that his heart's money was on them, Zahra lifted her right hand to rest on her heart and she smiled. "You are very kind. I hope we will meet again. Your ward is in very good hands."

She looked over at the yelling coming from the Adherents' door and shuddered, "Their hands, however, I wouldn't want to be in."

There wasn't much to add that Cairee and Tymythy hadn't already said to the gnomes so she simply said, "It was definitely the right thing to do to honour the memory of past competitors. We need to build each other up, not tear them down - even if it is a portrait."

Zahra quickly stepped out of the way as the Adherents bore down on them as they approached the door. As they moved past, she admired their clothing.

To Zahra the team just looked focused and there wasn't much left to say that the others hadn't already voiced. She gave them an encouraging smile and said, "You'll do great. You all look like you know what you're doing."

Zahra was beginning to realize that she hurt all over and was tired and hungry. How was it that only thirty minutes had elapsed? She felt like she had been in a twelve hour gauntlet.

However, regardless of how she felt, her smile never left her face. When Prem met them near the stairs her smile grew a bit as she was happy to see a friendly face. "If I had been sitting I would have also been on the edge. That was both exciting and terrifying. If it hadn't been for Dounia, it would have been just terrifying."

As they walked past the Perdition's Cavaliers, Zahra answered the prince's nod with a friendly wave and a warm smile. She wondered if she would have some new friends after all of this was over or if the competition would prevent that from happening. Every team was a collection of interesting stories and she hoped that she would hear some of them before going back home.

Her eyes widened in concern as she saw the state of the dwarves. Seeing one of them unconscious, she rushed over to them hoping that they hadn't experienced another damaging loss. Seeing their smiles helped her to relax a bit but her eyes glanced over at the unconscious dwarf, "Is everyone going to be okay?"

The intense light was dazzling and slightly unexpected. After hoping that the challenge was over after each new obstacle, Zahra had been somewhat surprised that they were finally back in the arena.

Her natural grace kept her from stumbling around blind and she blinked to help her eyes adjust.

She heard the cheering and was beaming now that they were safely back. However, she knew who the crowd was cheering for because she would have been doing the same had she been watching. Zahra grabbed Dounia's hand and lifted it up in the air while motioning for the crowd to cheer louder with her other hand.

Zahra then caught Tymythy's eye and motioned to help her to hoist Dounia up onto their shoulders. The sorceress hurt and was tired but was being re-energized by the crowd. She also wanted Dounia to get the credit that she deserved for how she'd navigated all the traps from the last challenge.

Zahra not only was unsure but it was almost like she was momentarily paralyzed by seeing the floor literally falling away into darkness where who knows what was lurking.

She was grateful for the feel of Tymythy's hand as he grabbed hold and started dragging her down the hallway towards the door. It took a few heartbeats but there was finally a connection between Zahra's mind and her feet and she began running in earnest alongside Tymythy.

When she got closer to the door, her fear of the falling floor catching up to them overpowered any caution she may have approached the door with. She looked at the hinges of the door to see if she could tell which way the door opened. If it pushed open she decided to keep running through the door.

Round3

Zahra felt an explosion of adrenaline as she watched the lights disappear and her friends continue to make their way up the rope. She glanced back and forth between the lights and Tymythy. She desperately wanted to help drag Dounia through the grate but knew that too many hands could sometimes have the opposite effect and hamper efforts.

Is everyone through the grate by the end of round2? Can more than 1 person aid another? I thought I remembered that in the past only 1 person could aid another

If Zahra can help and Dounia isn't through the grate yet, she will pick up the rope and help Tymythy pull, like in tug-o-war. If she can't help, then she'll Cast Light so they don't run the risk of being left in darkness

if she can't help or doesn't need to
Seeing Dounia's face emerge through the grate and Tymythy pull her to safety, Zahra breathed a sigh of relief.

Not wanting to run the risk of being plunged into darkness as they sprint for the door, Zahra speaks the arcane words to cause her bangle to glow around her wrist. This way she didn't have to worry about dropping the light as they ran.

Casting Light

Zahra half gasped, half screamed as the trap sprung when Dounia pushed one of the buttons. Part of her expected to see a bloody stump at the end of Dounia's arm and she was very relieved to see her friend fully intact having escaped the trap.

So many things happened at once and Zahra felt anxiety rising within her. She glanced over at the wall and tried to memorize the words she saw in case they needed the information.

As she studied the wall, water began to fill the room but instead of adding to her panic she found it soothing. She reached down and scooped some of the cold water and splashed it on her face.

She gladly let Cairee go ahead of her up the rope as it seemed most prudent to leave the room now that they could no longer get at the buttons. While she waited for her turn on the rope and Dounia looked at the recessed area, Zahra playfully splashed in the freezing water. Recent memories of an ice castle came to mind that both made her happy and sad.

Once Cairee was at the top, Dounia grabbed Zahra's hand to get her attention and pulled her toward the rope and motioned at her to get climbing.

Zahra nodded as Dounia spoke, "I agree with Dounia, let's get the grate open first so we have a way out and then we can push some buttons and see what happens."

As Zahra looked at the words and thought about which one she'd push if she got the chance, another thought came to her. "I wonder if we have new supporters in the stadium. After the amazing feats that Dounia has done this challenge, there are probably a lot of guests wanting to talk to her about how she did it. Do you think they'd buy us gear to spend time with us? Like a healing potion or two would have definitely come in handy during this challenge and if the challenges get harder...just a thought. I'd be more than happy to share a meal or spend some time with someone who supports us."

As soon as Tymythy said, 'bring your compassion, take my blessings", Zahra was mentally transported back to Zhayalahmar. "Tymythy reminded me of something. Back home there had been a short man who stood between the lesser bazaar and the inn district for visitors, whose sole purpose seemed to be to greet travellers. All day long, he could be heard saying, 'Welcome to my house. Enter freely. Go safely, and leave something of the happiness you bring.' Most, regardless of where they were from, would smile at him or give a nod and then would relax a bit and willingly spend more at the bazaar or else take a room at one of the nearby inns." She chuckled, "They would definitely leave something of their happiness by spending coin."

"Not that that's what is important. It just seemed like most cultures and races recognized the greeting in some form which makes me think that most have some sort of variation of the greeting back home." She paused and frowned, "I'm not sure how that helps exactly but I thought I'd share what memory it triggered for me."

Zahra looked up at Dounia and smiled, "There was never any doubt about whether you could open it or not. Nice job!"

She then turned her attention back to the tiles. She had encountered so many different kinds of people in the bazaar. She had never thought that learning their languages would come in handy, not to mention that learning was hard. But she had always made time to listen to the many kinds of stories that they had about their lives, cultures, and traditions.

Zahra thought hard, which meant she thought really hard, about whether there was any story she had heard that was in common with each one of these races or cultures. Or whether she had heard any of the phrases that the others had deciphered in the stories she had been told.

"The slots and doors are curious. And the tiles look like buttons. Beautiful work, that's for sure. Maybe we have to either push them in the correct order or else push the correct one? Is there something we need from behind the doors? Or maybe this whole thing moves up to the grate if the proper sequence is pressed. One thing is certain, the masterminds built this challenge are way smarter than I am."

Zahra got her first glimpse of the recessed panel and once again marvelled at the degree of thought and consideration that went into these challenges.

The one tile that looked remotely familiar was the fourth tile that might be in the language of the desert people. But she couldn't make neither hide nor hair of what it meant.

linguistics,DC10: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1

She was just going to ask Dounia if she knew when it seemed like she read her mind and said it was snake...or dragon. "Dragon? That would be cool."

Now that she could actually see inside the recessed area, Zahra speaks familiar arcane words that open up her eyes to see the magical spectrum.

She then got down on her hands and knees and took a closer look at the tiles without touching them. She looked to see if they were raised and looked like buttons or if there was anything else noteworthy.

But where Dounia would have seen something important, Zahra only saw foreign words on stone.

I'm here! I'm always AFK Tuesday nights and work has been sapping my brain cells this week...

When Dounia threw her rock, Zahra held onto the one she was given and wished that she had her crossbow with her. She would have easily hit the target had she had it with her but she wasn't so sure about throwing the stone. She tossed it up into the air a few times to get a better feel for its weight.

Just as she was about to follow suit and throw her stone, she got distracted by people scuttling up and down the rope which apparently was precariously attached at the top.

"If this place fills with water but we need to do something with whatever is in that recessed area, we'll have to work quickly and master holding our breath."

The scraping of stone on stone warned them all that the door was closing. Knowing that the Blackbirds shouldn't be separated, Zahra moved into the room just behind Cairee and made sure Tymythy got through as well. "I say we head straight for the recessed area and see what's what."

@Corey: Back in September you had written - If you're carrying equipment beyond armour and weapons then I want a good explanation about why you brought them to what you thought would be a one day party. As for the minor bag of holding - it can have whatever you want in it up to 50lbs. Consider it 50lbs of money you can spend on something you already owned. eg. If Tymythy's climbing kit (the one you got from the gnolls) is in there then the bag has 45lbs of space left.
One caveat: it must be able to fit through the mouth of the bag so no wider than 9"

My question is, in conjunction with Zahra having said that Haseena had taught them to be prepared when they went to the opera, would you be ok with Zahra having her crossbow? Or would it be a flat out no? I'm not overly sure about weapon sizes so I'm not sure if it would have fit in the bag of holding.

Zahra had no idea what to make of the new room. She glanced up and saw the gargoyles. She thought that they looked like funnels, right as Dounia felt the wetness around the door and stated that they most likely poured water into the room. "I hope that all that comes out of them is water.". But even then, she had grown up in the desert so swimming in anything would be challenging. Was she strong enough to survive this? If only she was powerful enough to freeze the water. Then they wouldn't have to struggle.

The sorceress did what she could to help by focusing on whatever magic existed in the room and once again try to determine what it was.

She will detect magic so she can see the auras so she can make a k.arcana roll

She could see the blue aura on the opposite wall but could discern what it meant. Pointing to where she saw the aura, she said, "I can see a faint aura over there but it makes no sense to me. Why there?"

Zahra smiled as Tymythy heaved the grappling hook and it found its mark. "No offense, Tymythy, but I would have lost that bet. That was impressive."

Zahra's not the best at climbing so I don't think it would make sense for her to climb unless absolutely necessary.

"Dounia, propping the door open is a really good idea. Hopefully that will inactivate the timer. Or at least keep the room from flooding."

Why couldn't the natural 20 be on k.arcana? :P

Zahra could see the hallway radiating with magic but as usual, she couldn't remember enough of her lessons to know what kind of magic was present.

Even though she didn't fight in a conventional way, Zahra recognized the things that Cairee and Tymythy pointed out just seconds before she would have.

How is it that that information stuck in my head but I can't dissect the magical schools I'm reading from an aura?

@Corey: you are blowing my mind by how you are able to increase the challenge level in a logical way because that is a lot of work and the attention to detail is phenomenal!

Zahra felt like she was having an out-of-body experience as she dragged something that looked like her down the hallway. She worked with Tymythy to get a good toss and soon a body that looked like her was flying through the air. The sorceress watched with wide eyes and an open mouth as the trap was triggered. She couldn't even comprehend how much that would have hurt if she'd gotten caught in it before surely dying. It was in this moment that the possible lethality of the challenges became very real to Zahra.

Very slowly, Zahra began to follow Dounia. To be on the safe side, Zahra looked for any residual magic when Dounia mentioned it.

"I hope that's the end of this challenge. I think we've all had enough for today," Zahra murmured as she approached the rubble. "I take it it's safe to cross?"

There was such a narrow opening that Zahra kept back and out of the way. She watched in awe as the other three worked. How did they know what to look for and how to look for it? Zahra slowly followed the others down the sloped hallway. Partly because she was unsure as to how to help but also because she thought that maybe something bad would happen once they were all together...like the door slam shut and something bad would happen.

While the others were focused ahead, Zahra kept looking behind to make sure nothing followed them.

She flinched at the loud bang when the wooden leg that Cairee threw hit an almost invisible barrier. The sorceress nodded at Tymythy's suggestion to use the sand to coat the barrier and she found herself having fun as she helped throw sand balls at it.

Zahra was beginning to feel drained but she soldiered on because they weren't done until they were back in the stadium.

After casting her last spell, she had no idea that she was holding her breath until the creature finally stopped moving and Cairee emerged. The sorceress sagged in relief when she saw that her friend was okay and then nodded quietly as Tymythy reminded her that the portraits weren't fully restored.

She focused her magical mending back on the few pieces that were still torn and tried not to think about what new challenge faced them at the end of the hallway.

Zahra felt a surge of panic and adrenaline as Cairee disappeared into the creature.

She echoed Dounia's cry of dismay and as the two other Blackbirds attempted to pull the cleric to safety, Zahra threw more devastating magic at the living carpet.

Afraid that using cold against the creature would also hurt Cairee, Zahra sent two more silvery darts flying towards the creature. One flew around Tymythy and one dodged Dounia as they found their target.

Zahra only has 1 more spell and then she's tapped for the day or most useful spells. She'll soon have to resort to Ray of Frosting it

As Zahra mended the portraits, she whispered to the woman and man, "Rest in peace once again and we apologize for the disturbance."

Dounia wrote:
"We have a magicky thing for you, Zahra. Do you have a fire spell or something? Or maybe ice?"

"Fire?!? Never. But ice I have. Hang on, I'm almost done."

Soon after, the commotion from the hallway drew Zahra's attention and in her haste to get off of Tymythy's shoulders she got a bit tangled which slowed her descent.

Seeing something attached to Cairee's face was very concerning. Zahra knew for sure that one of her spells would only affect her target and not hurt Cairee as well. As soon as she found her footing, she prepared to throw magic at the threat.

If she's able to cast a spell, she'll cast Magic Missile. If she has to wait until next round, she'll do it then if needed.

Hmm… just recalled we decided the paintings were of past contestantswho didn't make it… feels a bit bad to slash them, so…

”Zahra. If you would…” Tymythy said after they had opened up a few paintings and revealed nothing of note behind them. ”Could you use your magic to repair these, while Dounia looks at the lock? It was worth it to look, but if these images are of past champions who fell during the challenges… leaving them debased like this is not right. You had a spell for it, yes? Of making simple repairs?”

Quote:
There were only three paintings that were reachable (I've checked the map) to cut open and of those one was a blank canvas. Another was small but the last was quite big. Zahra looked them over and, standing on Tymythy's shoulders, the repairs would take ten or twenty minutes as the arcane skill she knew healed objects slowly.

As much as Zahra wanted to finish this challenge as soon as possible, it only seemed right to repair the damaged portraits. "It'll take about ten minutes but it's totally worth it. Tymythy, you'll have to give me a boost. I'll work on the portraits while Dounia works on the door."

The sorceress relied on magic to mend the portraits since she was only familiar with mending fabric by mundane means rather than canvas. She channeled magic into her hands and began mending the canvas back together.

I believe everyone is in agreement so Zahra will take the time to fix the portrits by casting Mending

Since any sign of a key wasn't obvious in the room, Zahra joined in searching the bodies of the duplicates. Maybe one of them held the key they needed.

Hahaha

Zahra was not good at puzzles so when she glanced at the silver tube that Tymythy produced, it meant nothing to her. However, it did trigger a memory of what she had seen when observing the Sisters. "When the Sisters were trying to open their door, it looked like they had a few pieces of those tubes fit together but it didn't look complete. Which reminds me, one of their pieces looked remarkably like ours. I would check your gear, Dounia, to make sure you still have it."

Zahra leaned heavily against the wall, grateful for a moment to collect herself. She felt like she'd lived a lifetime in the last little while and it would be a lot to process.

"Tymythy grabbed something on the other side but I didn't get a good look at it between dangling in the air and plummeting towards the floor."

Sorry, it was Snowball that she cast last round. I just forgot to state it

Zahra backed up against the far wall to get away from the action. She was trusting in Tymythy to protect them as usual so she put him in between the copies and her.

But she was still able to help even in her weakened state. She pointed at her imposter and one of the Tymythy's and little balls of force shot out of her fingers at the threat.

"No my child. I can see now that you are only passing close. Saiph has come to take you back. I'm sorry we don't have more time to talk. Know that I have done my best to prepare the way and that I love you."

"I wish we had more time. I have so many questions." And I like how it feels here with you

She looked towards the door that opened, "I have much to be thankful for. My friend, Cairee, has interceded on my behalf so that I can go back. I do want to be like you and help my world. I would think there is much to do back home even though I'd like to stay."

She jumped off the bed but before moving towards the door, she threw her arms around the man and gave him a squeeze. "Thank you for everything. Please tell me that we'll meet again somehow?"

Not wanting to dally for fear that she would lose her desire to leave, Zahra quickly moved towards the door and her friends.

Zahra moved her hand to her neck which still throbbed with pain even though she could feel that the skin had been knit back together.

She quickly realized that her cheeks were wet. Her body was obviously responding to both the physical pain and the sadness she felt for having to leave where she had been too soon.

Her hand moved from her throat to her cheeks to wipe away the wet which is when she realized that her friends were still fighting the imposters. She desired to join in the fight and help but her body protested when she tried to move quickly. She slid herself towards the wall and used it to brace herself to push herself to her feet. She wobbled slightly as she momentarily felt light headed and she put her hand on the wall to steady herself.

With her throat hurting, she wasn't even sure that she'd be able to speak. If she couldn't speak then helping her friends would become more difficult. She tentatively triend to speak, "Thank you, Cairee."

Her voice seemed hoarse but audible. The sorceress was confident that her magic would work. With her back braced against the wall, she focused her attention above Dounia's head to the one who had stolen her face and almost taken her life.

She found thoughts of ice both comforting and empowering as she began to pull water out of the air and form it into snow. She then hurled it upwards at not-Zahra.

It is possible that it would take her longer to get to her feet than usual so if there isn't enough time for her to cast the spell, that's understandable. Not sure if it'll hit either which would also be understandable

I've been on the emotional rollercoaster today with everything that happened :) I hadn't realized she had been so hurt

Zahra only:

As soon as Zahra's eyes opened, her hand flew to her neck and she felt for her injury. The last thing she remembered was searing pain across her neck before everything went black.

Seeing that she was surrounded by ice, she sat bolt upright as she took in the beauty around her. Her eyes landed on the man sitting on the edge of the bed she was on. She thought that he had kind eyes but it was when he spoke that she felt the love along with sensing his power and wisdom. Things she felt to be very conforting after the day she had had.

She smiled shyly, "I didn't mean to invade your home but part of me is very glad that I did." Then a thought occurred to her and she looked dismayed as she thought about how it may affect her parents, her friends, and Haseena. "Am I dead?"

Everything hurt and the sorceress groaned. Zahra began to regain consciousness and a mixture of emotions flooded through her as she realized she was back with her friends.

Not sure if Zahra can do anything other than wake up

She sure will!

Zahra found it hard to find any purchase with her fingers to make any progress. Not wanting to remain where she was for fear she'd be attacked again, the sorceress thought that maybe her claws would help her get a better grip on the painting frames to climb down.

She channeled her inner magic to cause her fingernails to lengthen into claws. She then tried to climb down once again.

Zahra was at her breaking point. Here she was clinging to a painting and in danger of falling, only to be attacked by...herself!

She tried to focus on how to climb down rather than on the pain. Then just as she thought she was doomed, Lugh's shadow snaked out of the painting and held her doppleganger tightly. "Thanks Lugh", she whispered before doing her best to escape without falling to her death.

Yay, no spoilers :)

Zahra looked up and saw what looked like Tymythy following her down the rope. However, when his finger became a claw and threatened to cut the rope so that she would fall to her death...again...she realized that it was one of the copies.

Her eyes became wide as saucers when she realized its intent. She was not super agile like Dounia but surely swinging over to one of the sconces or paintings was a better idea than just waiting to fall.

How close is she to either sconce or painting? And what kind of roll would she be looking at? I'm assuming acrobatics but have no idea of DC.

Cairee, Dounia, and Zahra - Rnd5:

As long as Zahra is certain that Tymythy is following and won't get left behind, she'll continue through the mirror and down the rope

Zahra managed to snag Tymythy's hand and tugged him towards the mirror with an urgency that she hoped conveyed that their friends were in trouble.

She then began to pull the rest of her body through the mirror, making sure she had a good grip on the rope. She started her descent, wanting to make room for Tymythy and to get her feet firmly planted on the ground as soon as possible.

Cairee,Dounia, and Zahra - Rnd5:

Zahra was dumbfounded by the chaos she saw below her. The watched an exact copy of herself fall to her demise and she flinched. There was something about watching yourself die that was emotionally jarring.

"Neither of those Tymythys are real!" She caught movement out of the corner of her eye and saw another copy of her emerge from the mirror. "And that Zahra is not real either!"

She was certain that Tymythy and her needed to get through the mirror and help their friends.

She called down to Dounia, "We're coming. The real us. I know your sister's name but what if speaking it out loud gives the copies that knowledge?"

She felt the rope placed in her hands from the other side of the mirror. It was weird being in two different places at once where you could only see one side at a time. She didn't like the fact that the mirror was duplicating Tymythy and herself. If the copied Tymythy's had his abilities then they were in trouble.

She groped behind her for Tymythy's hand. She didn't want to waste time going back and forth through the mirror but she needed to let him know to come with her sooner than later.

Does she need a roll to grab ahold of Tymythy and tug him towards the mirror?

Tymythy and Zahra:

It seems like it is more important at the moment for Zahra to find out what is going on on the other side of the mirror so she will stop her detecting magic and go poke her head thru. She’ll just have to trust the mirror magic is the same

Tymythy and Zahra, Rnd4:

Zahra gave an unconvincing smile, "I've never been better. I just need a moment to walk it off."

The young woman frowned, "The rope came loose before you grabbed the tube. I can't imagine either Cairee or Dounia releasing it unless they're in trouble or they thought we were and that in some weird way, they were saving us. I fear the former, that they're in trouble. The mirror is still magical so the shift in the room didn't alter that."

She quickly scanned the rest of the room, "I can't see anything else of note here so our best bet is to go back through the mirror. Did we want to secure the piton on this side to anchor us and take our chances? I'm not sure if we can just push our heads through the mirror to look. It may be all or nothing."

Tymythy and Zahra - Rnd3:

Fear and confusion gripped Zahra as her literal lifeline fell through the mirror. A scream erupted from her throat as she began to plummet to the ground.

Her confusion built as the room shifted around her as she fell. How she wished she could channel her ancestor Silimiel and grow wings.

acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
full damage it is :(

However, Zahra was no cat and she couldn't twist her body in time to soften her landing. Her scream ended abruptly as she hit the wall/floor very hard. The part of her mind not overwhelmed with pain was very aware that the shift in gravity saved her life as the fall was no longer deadly. Maybe Silimiel was watching over her after all because it was nothing short of miraculous that her fall became survivable...barely.

Zahra wanted to lay there in a heap and cry but she had enough presence of mind to recognize that she didn't have that luxury. Tymythy and her were now trapped unless the magic of the mirror was still functioning.

With a lot of effort, a groan, and a gasp of pain, Zahra pushed herself into a sitting position and then unsteadily got to her feet. It hurt to breathe but she had to focus. She spoke the needed arcane words to channel her internal power and looked for magical auras. Specifically, she needed to know if the mirror was still reading as magical. But she also needed to know if there were any other options or threats.

Tymythy and Zahra:

initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

Zahra watched Tymythy from above, not liking any of the options. If she went to join him then she'd probably never get back out because she wasn't athletic enough to jump the required distance. If she didn't join Tymythy and something happened to him, she'd never forgive herself.

It all seemed almost too easy, too easy like maybe it was a trap. She couldn't help but think about the dwarves losing one of their own because of a pit they didn't know about.

"Are you sure it's safe?", she yelled down. Zahra did the only thing she could from up above, she focused on their surroundings. She looked for anything unusual and searched for any signs of the presence of magic.

Zahra - Rnd2:

As Zahra pushed through the resistance of the mirror's surface, she couldn't help but think how differently the body experienced magical barriers and effects. Thankfully passing through the mirror was nothing as startling as traveling to the opera back home.

She didn't know what to expect but she knew enough from how the rope had reacted to Tymythy's weight that she better have a strong grip on her only life line, the rope. She felt the tug of gravity downwards and held tighter to the rope.

climb: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10

She started off by clutching the rope and looking around with her first instinct looking down to see how far she could fall should her grasp fail. She caught sight of Tymythy down below and felt relief that she wasn't sent somewhere different than he was. She slowly started her descent to follow. Her hand slipped slightly on the rope giving a burning sensation and she hoped that her hands would survive this climb. "Tymythy! You shouldn't go alone. I'm coming to help but you need to tell me what I'm helping with."

"He shouldn't go alone. And what did you all see in the mirror that made him want to enter it?"

The sorceress was trying to catch up with what everyone else already seemed to know. The fact that Tymythy wasn't visible anymore once he was inside the mirror chilled Zahra's blood. "I don't like this. I'm going after him. I'll follow the rope."

Not expecting anyone to stop her, Zahra grabbed the rope before crossing the threshold into the mirror.
