Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I am going to hide this thread so that it's no longer cluttering up my campaigns tab. If the game ever gets moving again, please PM me and I'll be happy to join back in.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Here and ready to go. No worries DM. Can we get a quick recap of what's going on?

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Happy Holidays everybody! Hope you have a very merry happy wonderful blissful jolly fantastic whatever holiday you celebrate!

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

A masterwork disguise kit could handle that.

In my case, I want to pick up a hat of disguise for sure.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I have no idea what we need to spend such an exorbitant amount of money on. I suppose some performance weapons, depending on what the script calls for. DM, what supplies does the script call for?

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

A bard/monk rogue. I've never heard of anything more MAD in my life.

Despite his inability to speak other languages in stressful situations, I believe Krokad should have a larger role. He's just as good as Yix at this sort of thing.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I literally could not have made a character more custom tailored for this mission. I'm so glad Yix got into this game.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Wow, we both got nat 20's. This is a performance for the ages. Indeed, false fighting. A performance in ignan would only serve to confuse our dear director.

...oh and also I wouldn't want to hurt Krokad. >.>

As Krokad feigns injury Yix flourishes his blade, swinging it with more anger than finesse, twirling his hand as he steps around the demon. His face scrunches in rage as she is brought up. "You manipulated them into believing they were doing good! There is evil in the heart of all men, but only if you nurture it and call it out." He twirls and cuffs Krokad across the mouth, then thrusts his sword forward almost barbarically. He looks like a master swordsman who is losing his technique through passion and anger. At every cut that gets close and gets a response from Krokad, a line of blood comes out that looks all too real. The droplets start staining the stage and Yix's face, but he almost seems to revel in his bloodlust. After a flurry of blows he springs forward and grabs Krokad by the collar. "I may fall prey to you as well..." He thrusts the sword through Krokad's chest, spraying blood out and coating the stage right wall. "...but I will be the last. Go back to the hellhole you crawled out of."

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Yix is using prestidigitation to make the minor blood tricks, and for the finale he will use silent image for the big fancy illusion of impaling Krokad.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Hamenahumane shhhhhhhh don't tell them real names!

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Disguise: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

Yix comes out to auditions in another elaborate human disguise. This time he has some southern looks to him, with long, dark, combed back hair and faintly tanned skin. He has some fancy swordsman's clothing on that's as much for combat as it is for showing off.

Yix watches Delgata leave the stage flourishing, a look of amusement on his face. Well it's better than being too shy. He gives some polite claps, and once everyone has settled down he steps forward, ushering Krokad with him. "My friend and I have prepared a joint performance for you, modeled after the legendary swordsman who defeated the fire demon of Akropash. We hope you enjoy."

Yix ushers the other actors out of harm's way, then turns to Krokad with his head down. Suddenly his neck snaps up and he draws his longsword off handed, flipping it in the air to readjust it to his sword arm. "You are a false savior, only leeching from these people!" With a spinning flourish he lunges forward, blade flashing with a hint of magic towards Krokad. "Liar, thief, murderer!" Each word is emphasized by another swing. In his face as he fights is a desperate kind of anger, as if something was taken away from him that can't be replaced. His very heart and soul is in this fight, although if he can ever recover is in question...

Bluff (not trying to kill Krokad): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Perform (Act): 1d20 + 10 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 10 + 3 = 33

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Oh will that bonus apply to the teachers as well? I suppose you did say all.

1d20 ⇒ 2
1d6 ⇒ 3

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

"Right than. Krokad, I believe we need to crash course this lot on the points of the finer arts."

Want to spend the rest of the day teaching the party the basics of acting. Hopefully I can give them some kind of circumstance bonus or something.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

What time of day was it again?

"Hmm, I wish we could have known about this earlier. I suppose that's true. Won't have to be a stunning performance than."

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix pats Delgata on the shoulder. "While you're at it, could you talk to some monkeys for me? I heard they have good stories to tell."

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I think it's too cool to not do, but that doesn't mean we can't enact other plans at the same time. Those of us less charisma inclined could work on a secondary plan.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

My character was literally made for this.

Yix listens to the entire plan quietly, knowing full well the history of this dark performance. He looks at the others, knowing this is both more and less terrifying for them. "A marvelous plan, pending survival of the play. How long do we have until auditions?"

Yix is wanting to see if he can give the party a crash course in acting.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix gives a faint smile at the patchy beard. I think the crow is trying to tell him something. He listens quietly, jumping in for a word occasionally.

"If you're going to impersonate somebody it's best to get to know them first so you can better act the part. If it comes to that I'll volunteer for that task."

Yix arcs a brow at the cat talk. A less even-headed catfolk would have been deeply insulted. "I look forward to urinating over your clothes."

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Wow, he can teleport?

"I think our best course of action for the first step would be to choose a guard, stalk him, learn about him, then impersonate him and learn about the defenses."

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix has enjoyed the downtime and dedicated much of it to learning his teammates, the organization they're in, and the organization they're opposing. He had many late nights out scouting, and he also spent some time at the library to learn the language of fire so he could speak with Krokad. When Janiven requests an audience Yix knows the time for idle work is over.

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

"Ailyn, of the Pathfinder Society. Something big must be happening for your organization to be here, openly or not."

"Hmm, quite a shame they were closed. We could use their influence here."

"Well, all you need to rewrite history is one good lie and a river of blood. I suppose documents help."

He smiles at the idea of a puzzle box. "Oh this should be fun. I, for one, am all in."

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I'm generally with the other two. Scienter has my vote for best character mechanically and flavor wise.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Perhaps a reasonable replacement would be a bonded weapon, similar to the choice that a paladin gets to make for their level 5 bond.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix snaps out of his thoughts. "Perhaps a spell could allow us to communicate with you."

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I disagree Novennia, I have had some pretty great relationships with my familiars before. It massively helps if you choose one that can talk. However I do agree that they can open up great RP opportunities. That doesn't excuse that the class is overpowered though.

That sounds like a very cool idea for an eidelon. Bravo. Way of the Wicked brings out some of the best in our roleplayers.

Bloodragers...ughhh.

They have great potential, but simply too easy to abuse mechanically.

Nebuchcanezzar wrote:
I will then proceed to flee, not really a fan of this AP... Bye.

Well that was abrupt.

Novennia wrote:
I like summoners =(

Everybody likes summoners conceptually. I love playing battlefield control wizards who focus in summoning, they're versatile and powerful and fun! Also, who doesn't like going god-wizard mode and feeling like a master of minions?

The thing is, summoners are complicated and messy and overpowered and number heavy. They blow through challenges with ease while requiring enough math to give a college professor a headache. It's time consuming and overpowered...*cough*

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

1) Not a problem here, Yix is focused for that kind of stuff.

2) I haven't been along for the whole ride, but yes there were some flat areas. One trick I've found is injecting some extra stuff that's character specific (like a rival) without trying to screw up the AP.

3) Absolutely I want to continue.

4) Yeah...yeah...nobody likes summoners...

5) My current wealth (not accounting for recent loot) is 1094gp. It's all detailed out in my equipment spoiler.

6) K.

7) Combat drags. We need to find a way to keep it moving. That's not entirely your fault either, that's something we need to work on as a group.

8) I agree. This isn't Rappan Athuk where all we do is grind against the odds. There is much roleplaying to be had.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix drops his disguise, enjoying being in his own fur again. "A hot meal and bath will be very appreciated, thank you."

Yix laughs loudly at the conspiracy idea, waving off the looks he gets. "Nothing, just reminded me of something." He chuckles as he listens to the rest of the answer. "Hmm, we all work for somebody. That's what my father used to say." Yix goes glassy eyed for a moment before snapping back. "So you know as little as we do. Well, I suppose first things first, we should take you up on the offer for rest." Yix sets off, stripping off his sweat-stained tunic. He seems distracted; uncharacteristic for him.

The Council of Thieves. You've always mentioned your admiration of them. Is that what happened? You're not floating dead in a gutter somewhere, but rather you washed your hands of the darker work of our guild to pursue a seat on the Council? Yix flares his nostrils, absentmindedly eating his food as his thoughts drift back to his father...

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix listens to the theatrical account of their mission, pointing out the facts when he glosses over them or exaggerates. He basically makes it as accurate as he can. "We're concerned with the council deeply, Novennia's question vexes us all."

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I believe we are ready to move on.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix takes quick stock of the loot, scanning everything with detect magic to see if there's anything of interest (I assume from the loot description that you're assuming we identify anything magical). He listens to the translation of the notes, making a mental note about this 'Council'.

Yix looks around the room as he thinks. Palaveen...was that one of the tieflings we fought? And this council...people who fancy themselves a lawful organization but work in the shadows are dangerous. I should know. He raps his dagger on the wall, turning with an air of finality. "I suppose we should leave before this becomes a crime scene. Does anybody else have anything they wish to do?"

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Ok guys, this game is unbelievably slow moving. I was brought in and am prepared to take a leadership position out of combat and help shove things along plot wise, but there is nothing I can do to speed up combat. I'm not sure what do do about it either besides giving you guys the boot and some tough love to try and speed things up.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

This combat has dragged for so long that I am barely aware of what's going on anymore. But I believe I can safely assume there are wolves trying to kill us, so Yix will swing his sword at one of them!

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix swings at the same spellcaster, trying to focus him down.

Screw it, the dice gods are telling me no. Yix will never wander into melee again.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Yix frowns at his blow, trying once more.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Liberty's Edge

Liberty's Edge

Yix grabs the attention of the tieflings again, trying to make Delgata unnoticed for another attempt at a sneak attack.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

I didn't take cure light wounds? Bah, rookie mistake.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Time for easy sneak attacks.

Yix gives a slightly annoyed glance at the drawn weapon, changing tactics. He leaps up on any sort of object he can find to gather more attention. "Today spells the death of the tiefling underground organization, the bards will sing of it for generations to come! They will tell of how..."

Disappearing Act. Any enemy within 30 feet must make a DC 15 will save or they treat Delgata as if he is invisible.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Perfect, won initiative.

Yix gets the attention of the large tiefling with a smug smile. "You would fight amongst these mortals when you are well above them? Your origins are not what you believe they are..."

Fascinate. DC 15 will save or sit there staring at me.

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

Stabby stabby!

Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Wow, I should stick to support with these rolls.

Liberty's Edge

Yix holds his blade low and charges the first one.

Attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

DM, I know the corridor is too cramped for us all to engage in melee but can we shoot a ranged weapon in?

Liberty's Edge

Male Catfolk Bard (Street Performer) 3

"Well struck Novenia." Yix steps down into the battlezone, poking at the dead enemies to make sure they're dead. Yix gives the gem a respectfully curious look. Yix remains in the back of the marching order should they be attacked from behind.

Yix is decent in melee but nothing special so he can watch our fragile casters.

I am here but in the middle of finals week. My posting will be back to normal this weekend and for the rest of the summer.

This racial trait replaces elven magic.
Elemental Resistance: Elves who dwell in the most extreme environments, from arctic wastelands to volcanic plains, develop natural resistance to the dangers of their homelands over the course of a few generations. Elves with this racial trait gain elemental resistance 5 to acid, cold, electricity, or fire. This choice is made at character creation, and once made it cannot be changed. This racial trait replaces elven immunities.

Class Skills
The ranger’s class skills are Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Handle Animal (Cha), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (dungeoneering) (Int), Knowledge (geography) (Int), Knowledge (nature) (Int), Perception (Wis), Profession (Wis), Ride (Dex), Spellcraft (Int), Stealth (Dex), Survival (Wis), and Swim (Str).

Level 2
BAB +2, Fort +3, Ref +3, Will +0

Weapon and Armor Proficiency
A ranger is proficient with all simple and martial weapons and with light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields).

Favored Enemy (Ex)
At 1st level, a ranger selects a creature type from the ranger favored enemies table. He gains a +2 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks against creatures of his selected type. Likewise, he gets a +2 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against them. A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures.
At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by +2.
If the ranger chooses humanoids or outsiders as a favored enemy, he must also choose an associated subtype, as indicated on the table below. (Note that there are other types of humanoid to choose from—those called out specifically on the table below are merely the most common.) If a specific creature falls into more than one category of favored enemy, the ranger’s bonuses do not stack; he simply uses whichever bonus is higher.

Track (Ex)
A ranger adds half his level (minimum 1) to Survival skill checks made to follow tracks.

Wild Empathy (Ex)
A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Using Skills). The ranger rolls 1d20 and adds his ranger level and his Charisma bonus to determine the wild empathy check result. The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.
To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute, but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.
The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.

Combat Style Feat (Ex)
At 2nd level, a ranger must select one combat style to pursue.
The ranger’s expertise manifests in the form of bonus feats at 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th, and 18th level. He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites.
The benefits of the ranger’s chosen style feats apply only when he wears light, medium, or no armor. He loses all benefits of his combat style feats when wearing heavy armor. Once a ranger selects a combat style, it cannot be changed.
Two-Weapon Combat
The character can choose from the following list whenever he gains a combat style feat:
Double Slice, Improved Shield Bash, Quick Draw, and Two-Weapon Fighting.
At 6th level, he adds Improved Two-Weapon Fighting and Two-Weapon Defense to the list.
At 10th level, he adds Greater Two-Weapon Fighting and Two-Weapon Rend to the list.

Falconer Archetype:
Rangers have always enjoyed a special bond with a specific animal, but the falconer takes this bond to a deeper level. Falconers begin with their companion earlier than other rangers, and have the ability to teach their companions special tricks.

Feathered Companion (Ex)
At 1st level, a falconer earns the trust and companionship of a bird of prey. The bird can be of any type of large hunting or scavenging bird (even a vulture). This ability functions like the druid animal companion ability (which is part of the nature bond class feature), but the falconer must take the bird animal companion, and that companion has only half the normal hit points. The falconer cannot teach the bird of prey the work trick, but can teach it either the roam or distract trick for free. Whichever trick the falconer does not pick then can be picked as a trick later.

Roam (DC 15)
The falconer can let his animal companion loose to roam and forage. He must let it roam for no more than a week. When the falconer lets it roam, it agrees to return to the place he let it loose within the time period he designates.

Distract (DC 20; bird only)
The animal companion flutters wildly around any enemy it would normally attack with the attack trick. It makes an attack roll against that enemy. On a hit, the enemy is shaken for 1 round.

This ability replaces wild empathy.

Feats, Traits:
Weapon Finesse (Combat)
You are trained in using your agility in melee combat, as opposed to brute strength.
Benefit: With a light weapon, elven curve blade, rapier, whip, or spiked chain made for a creature of your size category, you may use your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier on attack rolls. If you carry a shield, its armor check penalty applies to your attack rolls.
Special: Natural weapons are considered light weapons.

Two-Weapon Fighting (Combat)
You can fight with a weapon wielded in each of your hands. You can make one extra attack each round with the secondary weapon.
Prerequisite: Dex 15.
Benefit: Your penalties on attack rolls for fighting with two weapons are reduced. The penalty for your primary hand lessens by 2 and the one for your off hand lessens by 6.
Circumstances Primary Hand/Off Hand
Normal Penalties -6/-10
Off-hand weapon is light -4/-8
2-wpn fighting feat -4/-4
Off-hand wpn light, 2 wpn feat -2/-2

Normal: If you wield a second weapon in your off hand, you can get one extra attack per round with that weapon. When fighting in this way you suffer a –6 penalty with your regular attack or attacks with your primary hand and a –10 penalty to the attack with your off hand. If your off-hand weapon is light, the penalties are reduced by 2 each. An unarmed strike is always considered light.

Warrior of Old (Elf)
As a child, you put in long hours on combat drills, and though time has made this training a dim memory, you still have a knack for quickly responding to trouble.
Benefit: You gain a +2 trait bonus on initiative checks.

Opportunistic
You have learned to recognize openings that your foes leave, and you know how to take advantage of them.
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on attacks of opportunity when using a dagger, sword, or whip.

Background:
Sharelivalasikim, who only gives her name as Val or Falcon Heart, grew up with the Snowcaster elves of the Crown of the World. As an adult, she began to roam her homeland, helping travelers who got lost, acting as a guide, in part to be sure that those hoping to travel through the Crown of the World on trade missions would not get lost and wander into territory inhabited by her tribe. She often worked with a male elf from her tribe, named Rassimaltibelfel, nicknamed Malti. They enjoyed some intimacy for a while, but Malti began to take advantage of the people they guided and then commited murder to get some valuable weapons and armor for himself. Val wanted nothing more to do with him after that and was on her way back to the tribe to reveal his treachery, so he waylaid her and sold her to some Tien merchants bringing a group of slaves south, intending them for the slave markets of Ketapesh. Val was taken south into the Inner Sea, where she finally escaped, with the help of her animal companion, Skyler, a Gyrfalcon of unusual size that had flown south watching for an opportunity to reunite with her.
Unfortunately, she escaped into Cheliax and went through an arduous escape from more who would take advantage of her, driving her through Nidal and finally finding security in Andoran. She fell in with elves from Kyonin who converted her into a follower of Calistra, to feed her thirst for revenge against those who had wronged her. She was also influenced by some Pathfinders of the Liberty’s Edge faction. She decided to join the Pathfinders as a way to find gainful employment and along the way to strike at those who took advantage of innocents, slavers, and gangs.
