Popcorn will happily lead the tiny leshies back to the forest.
I see no reason to extend the battle, if others do we can. Treat Popcorn as in delay until others have left. If combat continues, she will get back into the combat.
“No thanks. We have rescued our friends, we are done here.” Popcorn says. She makes sure all the other leshies have left before going through the destroyed gate herself.
“This party is over. Please feel free to leave at any time!”
Popcorn decides it is time to end this party. She goes over to the gate and tries to pull it away from the posts holding it.
My mistake, looked like you were using Escape. Seems I need to give the spells a closer read.
Popcorn takes a swing at Wisteria then moves over to the other table and shatters that jar so those leshies can get free.
Temper still flaring, Popcorn swings at Bamboo with the flail, then continues the arc to strike at Wisteria. She is careful when swinging at Wisteria to not set anything ablaze.
(disarm, sweep, trip),
Frustrated, she attempts to take her frustration out on the jar holding the little leshies.
Engulfed by Wisteria, Popcorn swings her flail at them.
“Let me go now!” Popcorn shouts in frustration. The other leshie is not impressed.
Then she swings again at the other leshie.
Popcorn yells at Constance “I’m working on subduing all your invasive species! Shouldn’t take too much longer.” She then swings at Orange.
(disarm, sweep, trip) She then sweeps it around and attacks Red.
Frustrated, she continues the swing around to attack Orange again.
Popcorn gets angry and moves towards one of the tables before swinging on Honeysuckle. Fire leaps from her war flail as she swings it,

Popcorn gets out her warflail. “Oh, this is the sort of diplomacy I excel at!”
“I agree, it would be a bad idea. That is why I was surprised she suggested fey court.”
“Kidnapping happened in our forest. A clear violation of the treaty between us fey folk and you humans.” “I don’t know any Judge Fey either. I thought you meant a real court, beings like Count Ranalc, Ng, or The Lantern King. Most sensible beings wouldn’t want to get them involved, which is why I was so surprised.”
Surprised, Popcorn says “You want to go to fey court?”
“You hired the candlemaker from Petalbrook to kidnap my friends Amie, Zitha and Solyin. I would have to check if any of the other leshies are kidnapped.” Looking towards the jars she then says “Wave your hands Amie, Zitha and Solyin!”
Realizing that she had obviously been seen, Popcorn decides to try talking. At the very least, it should provide the others an opportunity to get the small leshies out while she talked. Standing as tall as she could and staring up at the woman, she says “” She gestures towards the jars containing Amie, Zitha and Solyin.
Seeing the last of the others get past the fence, Popcorn decides it is time to give it her best.
Unfortunately she thought the fence was more sturdy than it actually was.
Popcorn spends a little time inspecting the fence, then quietly says “I’m pretty sure that I could climb it, but might be a little noisy.
“He decided he shouldn’t have gotten out of bed this morning. He said he is going back to bed.” “Evidently some fancy lady took our friends. We are going there to retrieve them. Provided your boss stays out of our forest, we will not bother him.”
“Tell us stay out of our forest!”
The anger in her voice puts out the flames covering her.
“Ouch! That hurt! So much for trying to do this the nice way!” Popcorn seems even more angry than before.
Seeing Darius run away Popcorn shakes her fist and calls out “Coward! These wax figures have more backbone than you do!”
Popcorn then goes around the mud pit and under the table. She then stretches her vines out and whips her flail at Darius’s feet.
“Where are our leshie friends, you big meanie!” Popcorn knows all about anger. She allows her anger at this man to flow through her.
She moves up to the big meanie and swats at him with her war flail, making sure to not hit any vital areas. “I’m going to swat you until you tell us where our friends are!”
Now that there is no danger from the crystals, Popcorn leads the way into the next room.
“Are crystals supposed to make noise like that? Sort of a low thrumming?”
“Provided what you said was the truth and you cooperate, I don’t see any reason why you would be in trouble. Only the people involved in the kidnapping would be in trouble.”
“Leshies are forest spirits that are given a plant body. Some serve the forest, others serve the nature priest who gave them a body.” “When you saw Darius come in, was he carrying a bag? Did the bag wiggle, as if several smaller leshies were trapped in it?” “We are investigating a case where smaller leshies were kidnapped from the forest. Darius was in the forest during that time, so you can understand why it is so important we speak with him.”
Popcorn goes up to the boy at the counter and says “We’re looking for Darius. Official forest business. Where is he?” Popcorn doesn’t really have a good understanding of what makes something official but it sounds good to her.
Popcorn picks out the biggest human she sees and walks up to them. “We are looking for the human that invaded our forest and kidnapped our friends!” She gives a brief description based on Glimmer’s description of the man.
She comes across as grouchy rather than threatening. It is so hard to be taken seriously when you are small.
Popcorn realizes she isn’t very sneaky so she waits to see if someone else can take care of this situation.
Popcorn picks up the cloak and looks it over. “Not sure what sort of plants this is made from.” She puts it on. “Snug! I like it.” “I’m not sure why the cooked seeds turned blue, but I have seen other things change color when cooked. It is only when they turn black that it seems to be a problem.”
As they finish cooking, Popcorn exclaims “These smell wonderful, Glimmer!” She gives one to each leshy, saying “Everyone can take one, use it if we get into a nasty fight.”
Popcorn is very impressed by the riding skunk. “Wow! I didn’t know you had such a fearsome mount Glimmer!” “Thank you for the description of the man and these items! We will do what we can to ensure the man has left the forest and doesn’t come back!”
As others are looking over the items, Popcorn goes over to the campfire and ignites it again. Then he takes out his cooking gear and starts to roast the seeds Glimmer gave them.
Popcorn gets angry at the idea someone is kidnapping the smaller leshies. She fumes about it for a short while before she cools down enough to ask Glimmer for more information. “We had a crude drawing in the sand of the man. Couldn’t tell what race they were.” “Glimmer, you have a good eye for details. Is there anything you can tell us that might help us recognize him? Then we could search for him while you go find a Warden.”
Sorry if my feedback came off too blunt. The thing is I didn’t feel that I had enough in character to go off to know that there were missing leshies. Now that your declared that we know that leshies have gone mysteriously missing in the past at least gives me reason to question Glimmer more.
Any recommendations for how to make it more apparent in-game? Glimmer’s answer is the sort given for ‘nothing to see here.’ Instead, you could have mentioned her noticing noises coming from the bag and it squirming. Something to indicate the contents of the bag were important rather than steer characters away from it. In the original module, Fluff Fang was acquainted with the leshies. It was part of their background.
Their audience mainly consists of the tiniest leshys of Verduran, who cluster around Fluff Fang like small children hoping for a bedtime story. Fluff Fang has gleefully accepted this minuscule mob as apprentices, arming them with sticks and sending them out on missions to shoo off stray sheep or whack carnivorous plant sprouts who have gotten too bold. You skipped the first box text, with nothing that I see to replace it. The cut scene to something our characters wouldn’t know about set the scene but would be out of character information for our characters. Look over that first box text. Look over some of the other background information. Then maybe give us a flashback to some of the things we know about current happenings in the woods or something like that. Something that works for you narratively yet gives us in character knowledge to work off of. That would be my suggestion. The motives for why a character might want to take action shouldn’t be treated as a mystery element. Who did it and how can be, but what happened to motivate an investigation shouldn’t be.
Glimmer shrugs. "I didn't look. But who would climb into a sack a human was carrying around? That seems like a silly thing to do." So that was your opportunity to give us more reason than a broken bridge (that has already been repaired) for chasing this person. No one really understood Thumis as indicated by Fengal’s reply when I asked. Yes, there are the mangled names of the other young leshies. The only hint of that connection is on Slide 4 of the slides and you haven’t given us much reason to look at them. I think you should make our motives more apparent. Give our characters a reason to follow this plot. Right now, I’m not sure I would have caught it if I wasn’t already familiar with this module.
Popcorn frowns when Glimmer impersonates the person. “Was there someone in the sack? That sounds like a threat.”
“He wrecked my bridge. Left Thumis quite frightened.” “I want to talk to him about wrecking other peoples things.”
Popcorn looks at Thumis, then the rest of you. “Did anyone understand that?” When Cedar points back to the tracks, she refocuses and tries following them. She doesn’t have much luck.
Once on the other side of the river, Popcorn looks along the river for any footprints or dropped petals. “Big people tend to leave some signs of passage.” At first, Popcorn is distracted by a plant with bulbs that look like they would puff up quite nicely when cooked. Then they refocus on the task at hand.
“Other than destroying my bridge, what did this big one do?”
In reply to Fengal, Popcorn says “Probably about as long as it takes to cook a batch of grits!” As she is trying to get the materials in place, she adds “Less if any of you can provide some competent help here.”
Ouch! Hope this passes soon.
Popcorn gets really mad as she inspects what was once her bridge. “Someone cut it down! Look, petals from a lavender plant are near there!” While still angry, she starts pulling down vines and thick branches. Once the worst of her rage has spent itself, she tries to craft a replacement bridge.
Finally noticing what is missing here, Popcorn screams “” She goes rushing towards the banks and looks around, trying to figure out what might have happened to it.
