INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Dunno, is everyone else gone? I was happy to wait while the team was doing their town stuff - I signed up for this character knowing that there would be significant times and places where I wouldn't be able to participate - but if everyone else has left then you'd either need a new team or a new game.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

...

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Just checking in to let folks know that I'm still here and reading, even though I'm not with the team in town. :)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

No worries, I was just thinking of getting Metamorphosis or Mental Invisibility when I eventually level up in the distant future.

Xeno keeps to the heights, away from the town and the possibility of dragging adventurers out toward the keep. Instead he contents himself with watching other routes of approach and keeping an eye peeled for other monsters that might live in the wilds around the crumbling keep.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"It will be nice to have a lair," says the young dragon, rubbing his claws together.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"Bleah. What a stench!" complains the dragon, leaning back on his haunches and waving his little claws ineffectually.

"We may just have to wait for this to clear up."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Xenotime crouches and his mouth pulls back, then he mutters, "I hate biting undead flesh. Bleah."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Too crowded for me to do anything yet.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Xenotime does his best to squeeeeze in. Since he's about pony-sized he is able to make it, behind the others.

The dragon's white scaly head swings this way and that as he peers about in the dark confines.

"This place is kind of a dump."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I'll check. If the roof has collapsed I might be able to land inside. But I don't think I can squeeze through those slits," says the dragon dubiously. He takes wing and circles over the tower at close range, looking to see if there are any places where he might be able to gain illicit entry.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Wisdom check: 1d20 ⇒ 13

Observation proficiency?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"It strikes me as exactly the kind of place where some ne'er-do-well humans might stake their home-on-the-road in between bouts of banditry," says Xenotime to Alyna.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

"I suppose I shall have to stay below the treeline," says Xenotime. "All it takes is one shepherd spreading stories of seeing a dragon on the wing and suddenly it's knights and wizards up to your knickers. But I can probably get up to the Eagle's Eyrie easily enough, assuming there aren't any perytons or griffons or the like up there already."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Young dragons are very hungry.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Well by way of comparison, I need 8,000.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Slow post rate = slow encounter speed = slow xp accumulation.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

From overhead Xeno comes down from a hefty branch on a tree.

"Humpf. Silly beasts," he says chidingly of the owlbears.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Always good advice.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

The dragon sits on his haunches and folds his paws over one another, looks quite smug and says, "Heh, I do love the notion of making the Zhents guard and ferry around an empty sack."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Xenotime wheels around and takes an elegant landing near the gathering, then hunkers down like a cat looking for a comfortable spot and rests his head on his paws while he listens to the conversation.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

The dragon wheels in the air and then turns to swoop down at the foe facing off against Beau and Sid.

Claw flyby attack: 1d20 ⇒ 3

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Xenotime launches forward again and rakes at one of the troops in the boat while flying by.

Claw attack: 1d20 ⇒ 10 => AC 9

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

From out of the forest cover swoops the infant dragon, quietly sweeping across and over the battlefield, then blasting the boat's occupants with a storm of tiny, coruscating crystals that flay off flesh!

Breath weapon: Crystal shard damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Save for half damage, second save or dazzled (-2 on attack rolls)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out where!

I'm sorry for the hold up. I was sick for about a week with a 100+ fever most of the time and now the medication I'm taking is really messing with my concentration and focus. If you need to bot my entrance just to speed things along, don't hesitate.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Yawp. Let's see if I can do structural damage!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I've been super-sick for like five days. I'll swoop in once the Zhents react and I see where the trouble spots pop up!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Gotcha boss!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Planning:

I may have missed my part in the plan?
"I guess I shall wait until you have spooked them and do any chase cleanup required? While flying I can probably catch up to any stragglers."

Alyna:

The young dragon replies, "That wizard who supposedly meddles all over the region but nobody ever sees him? Hm." He scratches his snout idly with a claw, then says, "The Zhents were the ones keeping me in a cage so I have no qualms about raining terrible vengeance upon them! I don't really have an opinion about this 'Lord Randal Morn' one way or the other. Humans sure place a lot of stock upon accidents of birth."

please note that Alyna is no longer present, so that's why I'm not responding anymore. You'd have to track her or wait until morning to talk with her.

As to gather information... The thieve's handbook governs rules on that. I suppose you could deal with it through charisma checks. Mostly, though, back in the day, we just roleplayed the information gathering. So many stupid peasants have I spoken before I realised the blacksmith was the one to talk to

Alyna:

Somewhere just before evening the white-scaled dragon soars low over the forest and makes a circle before landing near Alyna's camp.

The dragon leans back and grooms itself much like a cat, then says in Elvish, "I hope you do not mind the intrusion. I am, after all, a bit curious about what transpired in the human settlement. I don't know if the humans will take the Zhents seriously at all. I may be pushed into the role of being a simple caravan raider for a few years! Rather undignified."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

By RAW in 2nd edition, you use Appraising nonweapon proficiency to evaluate nonmagical treasure, and you need an identify spell to determine the functions of magical items.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I believe I just use the psion chart (which means I won't earn bonus xp until I've gained a level anyway, as I have no psionic abilities until then). It's not like I used my breath weapon or my charm ability anyway though. :)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

As an aside, I'm still here, just not in town, so I will pop back up once the adventure is underway again. :)

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I can't shapeshift yet so it's prooooobably not safe for me to actually go into Shadowdale; any thoughts from the party?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Elvish:
"I avoid human-towns whenever possible. They are filth-ridden and I've no desire to become a target for archers or would-be magicians."

The dragon sniffs and inspects one of its wing pinions, as if making a big deal of trying to find out why it nearly stalled on takeoff.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Elvish:
"I am familiar with the vagaries of humans,"
the dragon says carefully to Beixidor. Then the dragon leaps into the air and with a great heave of its wings it becomes airborne. Its wings flap mightily and it starts to take off in a heavy, ponderous climb. After breaking the treeline he orients slightly more on the level, loses his cadence and nearly tumbles to the right, reorients himself, then cruises in a slow circle over part of the forest.

Surprisingly, the dragon makes its way back to the wreckage and settles down back near the wagon, then says in the Common tongue, "The riders have fled into the forest, but they will doubtless tell their masters what transpired. I daresay a trip to your... settlement or whatever is in order."

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Elvish:
"I am quite hungry! Perhaps I could just have a small bite of something... then I would gladly take wing and see what approaches. If it is more of these Zhentarim, I have half a mind to give them a reason to fear my kind!"
the dragon says to Alyna.

The dragon leans forward, back onto all four legs, and spreads its wings tentatively to make sure that they have not been injured by captivity.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Thorass?

Seldruin?

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

The dragon rears back and sits up, somewhat like a cat on its back haunches, sunlight sparkling off its white scales, and it delicately licks one of its bloody claws.

Then, finally, it speaks in a measured tone:

Elvish:
"These filthy humans kept me bound for days! Little to eat, nothing but beatings! BLECH!"

The dragon side-eyes the unlikely team, as if deciding whether it should just fly away now.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Waiting on me? Uh, ok, I thought I had used my turn trying to get out of the leg ties.

The pony-sized "little" dragon comes bursting out of the wagon, snarling as ferociously as it can muster. It lashes out at one of the Zhents with an angry claw.

Claw attack, THAC0 20: 20 - 1d20 ⇒ 20 - (18) = 2
Claw damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Inside the wagon:

The "small" dragon scrabbles at its bindings and tries to undo the ones on its hind legs.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I can't really act until I'm released from captivity!

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Wow, all this forum downtime hit at just the right time. :(

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

Emerges! An angry growl/whine emerges.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

The “animal carrying” cart starts to rock back and forth and a combination growl and whine, like a large, unhappy dog.

INACTIVE - GAME DIED

I only just now saw this thread!
