William moves into the Salon to repair the barricade there.

Will Save: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 = 12 DC 19, Sanctified Ground

Ok. I think I've really had enough 2's for the last few days.

William feels the cold fear of the grave seep into his bones but he holds himself together and attempts to move closer and locate the threat.

Seek - Perception: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 8 - 2 = 15 15' Burst centered on the creature's last location.

I'm ok. We were packed and ready to go, but we didn't need to evac.

It's kind of spooky, if you look at a map of the fire and find the westernmost point - my house is just a little west of that.

The air quality is still like sitting on the wrong side of a campfire.

But I'm incredibly thankful - three of my coworkers no longer have homes and the town of Paradise (~25k people) no longer exists.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

William draws his bow again and repeats the passage with sharp notes. Bolts of force appear and streak towards the rearmost creature.

Heightened Magic Missile: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3, 4, 3, 3) + 5 = 19 targeting the rightmost critter

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

The tune William is playing on his instrument changes and with a few quick, sharp notes, bolts of energy fly through the air to impact the remaining creature.

Heightened Magic Missile: 5d4 + 5 ⇒ (1, 4, 1, 1, 1) + 5 = 13

Really?!

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

William also joins Esrian, returning his sword to its scabbard and readying his violin. Drawing the bow, he begins a somber tune to ease nerves.

Most of his buff spells wont stack with the circle, so it looks like heightened magic missiles are the word of the day. :)

"I bow to your wisdom, Lady Mystery," William says, true to his word, bowing before her and grinning.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

"I'll help you," William says to Esrian. He still looks a little pale. "It seems that I wasn't as prepared for this as I thought," he adds with a smile.

"Now three against one and regenerating to boot. That's not really cricket, lads, and you can't expect me to continue to play with those odds." William says, although his grin seems quite forced.

He stabs again at the create next to him and then falls back to the group.

William begins moving towards the newcomers, but is stopped by an exploding ball of flame.

He turns to Esrian and gives her a raised eyebrow and a smile. He then continues his movement with his readied blade, ready to deal with any survivors.

Once he sees that his inspiring melody gives no benefit within the sanctified area, William stows his instrument on his back and draws his sword. He steps forward ready to assist in holding the line.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

We're in a mansion fending off hordes of undead - on Halloween. :)

William strikes up a haunting, but inspiring tune on his violin.

inspire courage - everyone is +1 to hit, damage, and saves vs fear

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

William will then attempt to move the dining table so that it can barricade against the window in the dining room. Only having one interval, he'll need some help.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

Not sure how long it will take, but if the walls are stone, William will use the oil from the pantry to burn off the vines growing up the back of the manor.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

William nods appreciatively.

"Didn't you say you found lamp oil in the pantry?" he asks, a smile forming.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

"We should probably do something about all the greenery growing up the back of the manor," William says with a smile. "As much as I appreciate the potential easy access to a willing maid's bedchambers, I'm not so receptive to undead visitors climbing it."

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

As William begins descending the stairs, he hears the sounds of conflict below.

"I know this tempo," he says to himself as he readies his bow and begins a quick, racy tune appropriate to battle.

Having an odd feeling about the manor receiving a visitor, William makes his way to his room to retrieve his instrument.

"Point well made, Sir. May I join you?" William asks, his smile widening.

Without waiting for a answer, William moves through the pantry himself before joining Godfrey again in the dining room.

"So, you're a follower of the Dawnflower, eh?" William says, tearing off a piece of bread and a small wedge of cheese. "How's that pay?"

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

Seeing that the other two rooms have already been claimed, William deposits his bag in the easternmost room. He checks his violin to verify that it survived the journey with a minimum of wear and tear. He plays a few bars of a light tune before setting it on the bed and heading downstairs.

He sees Esrian perusing the books, but doesn't stay to chat.

Finding Godfrey in the dining room, he attempts to make casual conversation.

"So, rifling through our host's silver, Sir?" he says with a smile, clearly not intending any real insult.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

"Well spoken, Lady Mystery," William says with a look of admiration.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

"Doomsday, my dear," William says, his smile not fading in the least. "I did say it was no small matter."

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

William dials up his warmest smile.

"Good evening, Madam. We're here to have a word with Dr. Oscilar regarding no small matter. If you would be so kind as to let him know we're here?"

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

William steps forward with confidence and, using the knocker, announces the groups presence.

"Hope someone's home," he says with a half-smile.

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

William waits a beat for Esrian to respond. When it's clear that she has no intention to do so, he nods his head and smiles a friendly smile. "So, Lady Mystery it will be then."

He then turns to Godfrey.

"Pleasure to meet you, Godfrey," he says, taking the outstretched hand in a firm but companionable grip. "William Fair, man of many talents, consumer of alcoholic beverages, and ... " With his other hand he pulls from a pouch a letter similar to those the others have received. "Apparent fellow preventer of Doomsdays."

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

"Well, hopefully, not tomorrow," William says, not taking his eyes off Esrian. "Then there wouldn't be time for more pleasurable ... pursuits."

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

The haunting strains of a violin drift through the crowd as a tall man with a chiseled jaw draws close to the table. He brings the sombre music to a halt, stows the instrument and bow, and smiles at the gathered people.

"Since the world is coming to an end that means there's no reason not to have another pint, right Nibiru?" he says with a smile at the pale gnome.

"And whom do we have here?" he says in a less jovial tone as he sees Esrian. He reaches out to take her hand in greeting. "William Fair, m'lady, and the pleasure is all mine."

I'm assuming that William knows Nibiru but one one else. Everyone knows Nibiru. :)

Playtest Character - Playtest Ended

Ok, Here's William. He doesn't have a backstory yet and I really don't like the terseness of the statblock that HLO generates. I'll have to flesh it out when I get the chance.

He also doesn't have a backstory ... yet.
