The wiki is generally written from an in-world perspective (see Point of View), which means that commentary on in-world topics doesn't really have a place in primary articles. We keep discussion of canon discrepancies on secondary pages as a result. To include retconned information in even something as isolated as the suggested list(s) would involve the wiki editors effectively creating canon. If there were an actual in-world false history, such as Stavian III spreading rumors that his father, Stavian II defeated an army of 200,000 Qadirans with a force of only 3,000 soldiers, that would belong in such an article. If, however, there were simply an error in recounting what year Oppara was founded, that's just a real-world error rather than some false history being spread in Golarion itself. The official wiki policy for managing conflicts does not account for what is colloquially termed "fire cancer" by Paizo developers, however. This would be things like the Darklight Sisterhood, which were mentioned in early books but were later determined to be unworthy of further expansion—even to refute their existence or explain them away with an in-world justification. Rather than completely invalidate them for players who do like the idea of a secret society whose sole raison d'etre is to oppose another organization, and which is so secret that all members change their name to the same thing, a GM who wants to use them in her campaign can do so without going against canon. The wiki, for better or worse, simply reports the canon that exists on such topics, and never explains why no further information ever came out.

OMG, now I'm trying to figure out how to get as much of this information as possible up on PathfinderWiki in a format that will be usable to folks. As if I didn't have enough other stuff on my plate!
Adding a PACG portal to the existing PathfinderWiki is high on the agenda for the coming weeks and months. Once we've got that in place, it should just be a matter of filling in all the details. It's not yet clear how much information we can and will be including, but it's our intention to include as much as possible in order to make the wiki the best resource it can be.
Mike Selinker wrote: It means it would be great if someone made a wiki, but if you're waiting on us, we're probably never getting around to it. There are currently plans to add a PACG section to the existing PathfinderWiki, but there are a few other tasks before it in the queue. When we get the requisite templates, home pages, and category structure in place, we'll need help incorporating information onto the site. Stay tuned!
Just as a heads-up, this weekend I plan to get an image map started of this map linking to articles on PathfinderWiki on the contents of each hex. It's a process that will likely take a long time and also require the game to, you know, launch before there's a lot of content on the articles themselves, but this is a thing that's "in the works." As always, anyone interested in assisting in the effort is welcome to join the wiki and add their expertise (or willingness to learn).
With Early Enrollment for Pathfinder Online anticipated in the near future, the editors of PathfinderWiki (the ENnie Award-winning chronicle of Pathfinder Campaign Setting canon) are setting up the foundation for coverage of the MMO. We know that it's only a matter of time (and likely not very long) before active players of the game start to post guides, screenshots, feat tree breakdowns, walkthroughs, and so forth online, and we figured it would be best for the community as a whole to keep things as consolidated as possible. PathfinderWiki has nearly 10,000 current articles on the world of Golarion, meaning folks new to the setting through the MMO can easily follow links about the various nations, deities, races, and organizations in the setting from PFO guides to canon articles. This saves editors working exclusively on MMO content on the wiki the time of writing a whole new article about Desna, the Hellknights, or Razmiran. It also means that we can try to head off the fracturing of the community into a bunch of different wikis all competing with one another for Google search hits and to be the go-to resource for Pathfinder Online players. What we at the wiki are currently looking for, in the lead-up to the game's forthcoming soft launch, are volunteers (with or without wiki editing experience) to help us set up the framework for the PFO branch of the wiki so that once players have access to the game, those who are looking for information and those who have information to share have a preexisting location to go. Stop by the start of our Pathfinder Online Portal today and comment on this thread or the wiki's internal forum to help make it the best Pathfinder Online resource it can be!
Mark Seifter wrote: That's a really helpful resource, Mark. Any chance members of the PathfinderWiki editing team could use your work on the site? I've been wanting to increase the wiki's usefulness regarding the Pathfinder Society metaplot and faction evolutions for a long time, and this sort of overview is immensely helpful. Your original post would be included as a reference on the wiki so you receive proper credit.
All six of the volumes in this AP have been added to PathfinderWiki, complete with authors, as announced in the PaizoCon Adventure Path seminar.
Have the folks working on the compiling of game mechanics and general information considered porting it over to the extant PathfinderWiki? Right now the Online portal and content therein is pretty sparse. We'd love to have someone shepherding that portion of the site while those of us already working on it continue focusing on setting canon.
Furthermore, the following has just been posted to the wiki as an explanation of what's going on there: Quote:
An army of Brigh's faithful clockworks are at work at present removing content en masse from the defunct Golariopedia. For all future wiki needs, please use PathfinderWiki.
Thanks for the support and the votes, folks!! It's a community effort and we couldn't have done it without the scores of editors who've helped improve the site over the years. We'll keep working at it and hope to see the win bring even more editors into the community of contributors or at least the community of folks who benefit from the site.
I noticed that following the Recent Posts link at the top of any page leads me to the NoStore page, so I think there's something wonky with them. The blog and news feeds are down and not showing up on the PathfinderWiki homepage for example, and both of them should have recent activity (so it's not just a slow weekend).
Don't forget to vote for Pathfinder fan website PathfinderWiki in the Best Website category, as well as Pathfinder RPG Compatible products from other publishers!
PathfinderWiki is proud to announce that we've been nominated for the Best Website ENnie Award for the second time in the site's history. Voting will begin in a little over a week, but in the meantime, the community can use all the help we can get in tidying things up, adding and expanding content, and participating in discussions about the project itself. A great way to start on the wiki is by checking out the site's tutorial (still a WIP) or simply ask for help on this thread or PathfinderWiki's own forums. Together, the members of the Pathfinder community can make PathfinderWiki the best it can possibly be.

The content on the defunct wiki has now been deleted for being a violation of copyright, as it was a verbatim copy/paste of the text in an official source.
Marou_ wrote: We need a wiki, maybe Goblinworks can set an official one up so there doesn't end up being 4-5 of them or a dodgy wikia? Have you checked out PathfinderWiki (which incidentally forked from Wikia over a year ago because of their more "dodgy" practices? I'm in the process of building a Pathfinder Online portal to provide people new to the game an intro to what the game is, what is promises to be, and as a springboard into the larger world of Golarion and the Pathfinder campaign setting. If you're interested in working on providing such information or even helping to edit or format it, we'd love to have you as part of the project! Feel free to PM me with any questions if you've got any.
Today we launched a new homepage at PathfinderWiki that should prove easier to use for many people. Links to thematic portals are now more visible at the top of the page, and we've added a new "Did you know?" feature to provide trivia from recently edited or created articles rather than just a single featured article each week. We've also implemented a "New and notable" section drawing attention to recently-released Pathfinder products allowing users to quickly go straight to the product page and from there to related articles. Stop by PathfinderWiki and let us know what you think on our Facebook page or Twitter feed.
Just as a note, Golariopedia is the renamed old, outdated, no-longer-updated version of PathfinderWiki, which is still quite active and up-to-date. Perhaps that was Hitler's problem?
The main rules to keep in mind are: 1) Put the content in your own words and be sure to credit the source you pulled it from so others can fact check. Don't just copy and paste verbatim from a Paizo sourcebook. 2) Only add art that is part of the Community Use Policy and not an image taken from one of your pdfs. As long as you follow both those rules, any additions or contributions to the wiki are welcome and appreciated!

Luckily, literally anyone who wants to can edit PathfinderWiki, so if there's a person who holds this issue near and dear to his or her heart, the project's a'waitin'!
What Cpt Kirstov said. PathfinderWiki will continue as normal, except we'll be hosting the site privately instead of on the wikia community. Their handling of the switch to the new skin and some of their focus on Wikia as a whole over individual projects has led the PathfinderWiki admins to feel that a move to something we control is in the best interest of the site. As such, please make any additional edits or contributions to the site at pathfinderwiki.com, not the one at pathfinder.wikia.com. Because we can't actively delete content from the wikia hosted site, we have to hope the move doesn't completely split the community, but that's a risk we take. As it stands, there are only a handful of really active members, and all of them will be moving to the new site. Over time, the hope is that the wikia site becomes outdated due to lack of active editors. Only time will tell, however.
The wiki has an image map of the Inner Sea map on the Geography portal, but it does not list specific adventure locations. We're currently in the process of organizing adventures into categories by location, but it's still an ongoing project far from being complete. Any help in this endeavor would be much appreciated if it's something particular users really want to see.
Have you looked for these images on the Wiki? We've already got many of them credited. No sense in you redoing all our hard work. In the case of this one, it was Kevin Chin for Imaginary Friends Studios.
Check out the new polls feature at PathfinderWiki, beginning with the obligatory "favorite iconic" question. Right now it's a four way tie; jump in and determine which iconic may be featured in future wiki content! vote here!
Enevhar Aldarion wrote: However, the Pathfinder wiki may have all the descriptions, so you can try there if you do not have access to a book you need. The PathfinderWiki is limited to canon flavor, and we have a no crunch policy, so it's not the place to go for mechanics. If you are looking for information on a nation or religion which may be part of your PC's background, we can help you there.

Know what I mean? Have you considered using an online resource like the PathfinderWiki to help you quickly find the monster you're looking for? It doesn't include stats but it would tell you what book and page number to go to.
James Jacobs wrote: I actually agree here... I like to re-use elements now and then from one volume to another, but it's tough to track. We're getting some new interns next week, though, and one of the projects I'd love to have them work on is to go through all of the books we've done and make indices of new monsters, feats, spells, magic items, prestige classes, whatever, that can be searched, and then I'd love to have those online somewhere. You know, we've done a lot of this on the wiki and I know that Paizo has a few wiki accounts floating around out there for interns to use for this purpose. Just sayin' is all. Also, any non Paizo people who would also like these comprehensive resources/indexes should really consider contributing something to the wiki. Every little bit makes it a better resource for yourself and other users in the future. </shameless self-promotion>
James Sutter wrote: There was a brief but deadly outbreak of fire cancer in the Grand Lodge in early 4909, possibly as a result of something somebody brought back from a mission. Clerics were called in, and it was quickly hushed up to avoid a panic, but several notable Pathfinders were claimed, including Janiff. Is this explanation canon?

I would just like to pop in here to remind everyone that the PathfinderWiki is a resource which anyone can edit, including those of you who aren't registered (though I don't know why you wouldn't register for the wiki just to get rid of the ads). So if these sorts of clarifications or confusions pop up, feel free to make changes to the related articles as necessary. Every little bit makes it easier for the next user. Just be sure to cite your references!

I know this wasn't the point of your post, and it was made 50+ posts ago, but it warms the cockles of my monstrous heart to hear that information you found on the wiki has inspired you to further investigate the setting with a book purchase. When you get the book, or with what you already have, consider contributing to the community and making some additions of your own so the next person looking for something knows what book to go look in for more info. Also, Wes, you should make a wiki monster that absorbs knowledge from all it's victims, combines similarly themed factoids and then poos them out at the next band of adventurers to inspire them to go adventure in some other remote part of the world, in a different book.
