This is the discussion thread for #1-02 Fugitive on the Red Planet (Tier 1-4). Game will start on July 1st. Recruitment has already been decided, so no open spots.

With that said....Hello everybody!

Thank you for being interested in playing #1-02 Fugitive on the Red Planet!

As a GM, I hope to have at least 1 or 2 'move the story along' posts a day (more if we have combat) during the weekdays. From Friday evening to Monday morning you should expect likely no more than 1-2 total over the weekend (even for combat), as I know most of us have IRL games we are in or running during the weekends.

So...what does that mean That means (to me) that hopefully we can do some more Role Play (not just Roll Play) during the week and weekend with all your characters. I do love checking dice (though IRL dice are better, Paizo's RNG I feel hates me), but with this being such a good story scenario, the role play should be just as important.

I do realize that IRL >>> PBP. If something happens, just drop me a message.

I will post some simple 'rules' in the next discussion.

After looking for this in any way, I decided to come post about this.

I can't find any rules on if you can thrown a tactical or survival knife. None of basic knives have the "thrown" special ability (unlike the advanced weapon tactical starknife that has a thrown (20')).

I don't know if this was in error--that thrown (x feet) was forgotten on the humble knife or not. Or if there is a rule buried somewhere either in the equipment section, tactical section or somewhere I haven't seen yet that talks about being able to throw any one handed weapon but at only X' and maybe with a penalty.

Anybody find any info on this in the book anywhere?

Hello everybody.
I am starting to work on the WYC schedule for next year. Who’s Yer Con will be held April 17-19, 2015 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West hotel
(new hotel!) in Indianapolis, IN.

BTW, this is a free convention to attend.

Last year we had over 80 tables for WYC 2014, and this year we were able to get a few more tables to hopefully have PFS break 90 tables. These numbers do not include the 3 tables we will have for the Pathfinder Card Game OP.

Because of the popularity of new players, we are going to be heavy on the low to moderate levels, with over 50% of our tables going to be set up for levels 1-5. We will be including Silver Hex Quest (2 tables except for 1 or 2 slots), along with last years Confirmation and this years The Wounded Wisp to be ran at ever slot except the Special's slot (Saturday Evening). Except for The Confirmation (and maybe one or two other items) all the scenarios ran will be Season 6. The Special on Saturday night will be Legacy of the Stonelords--unless it doesn't get much signage, in which case we will look at switching it to another special. We also plan on offering Bonekeep 2 and Bonekeep 3, so if you are a 4 star GM looking to work on the # of specials, this will be a good time to get a few games in.

We are looking for GMs who would like to volunteer to run. There will be Paizo prizes available to win for both players and GM’s—we are still working on exactly on the distribution system. We will again have the stipulation in that if you do not show up to GM a slot you were scheduled for that you might not be eligible for some of the rewards. Additionally if a person planning on playing or GMing fails to show up for the slot they signed up for, then the rest of their reservations for later games might become void—contacting one of us (VO's of Indianapolis) as soon as a person knows they will not make their slot will help ensure that this doesn’t happen.

PFS Slots are as follows:
Friday 17th
12pm-5pm
6pm-11pm

Saturday 18th
8am-12pm
1pm-6pm
7pm-midnight (this will be the slot when we run Legacy of the Stonelords…so make sure that you feel comfortable running the special if you volunteer for this slot).

Sunday 19th
9am-2pm

PACG Slots are as follows:

Friday 17th
12pm-2:30pm (1/2 hour set up is added to this slot)
3pm-5pm
6pm-8pm
8:30pm-10:30pm
Possible LATE slots
11pm-1am (the PACG version of midnight madness)

Saturday
8am-10:30am (1/2 hour set up is added to this slot)
11am-1pm
1:30pm-3:30pm
4pm-6pm
No PACG games scheduled at the time of the PFS Special
Possible LATE slots
12am-2:30am (the PACG version of midnight madness)

Sunday
9am-11:30am (1/2 hour set up is added to this slot)
12pm-2pm

Note about PACG. Since there is no GM's needed for PACG, the people signing up for the GM slot of the PACG are there to play the scenario and to be rules arbiter's if needed. Because of the fluidity of PACG scenarios no specific ones are scheduled at this time--except On the Horizon's--will be the placeholder for the intro table for new players. If PACG Wrath of the Righteous is available both Skull and Shackles and Wrath will be available to play in these slots.

Please let me know if you are interested in GMing or volunteering to help run HQ. When you do respond, please make sure to mention what slots you would be interested in running or volunteering.

Please email Jim Crase (lester_dorsey@yahoo.com), if you have any questions or are interested.

Hello everybody.
The VO’s of Indianapolis are starting to work on the WYC schedule for next year. Who’s Yer Con will be held February 21-23, 2014 at the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center (same place as last year) in Indianapolis, IN.
BTW, this is a free convention to attend.
We had a huge presence last year and plan on keeping a similar schedule this coming year. We are going to run Season 5 scenarios (and maybe some of the later season 4), and having Season 5 special ran on Saturday night. We are also hope to have Bonekeep levels 1-2 (maybe 3 if it is out and available), and maybe the EX if it has been released. 4 Star GM’s (and high 3 Star GM’s), this would be a good place to work on your total number of “specials” ran for your 5th star.
We are looking for GMs who would like to volunteer to run. There will be Paizo prizes available to win for both players and GM’s—we are still working on exactly how to distribute this. We will be having a stipulation in that if you do not show up to GM a slot you were scheduled for that you might not be eligible for some of the rewards. Additionally if a person planning on playing or GMing fails to show up for the slot they signed up for, then the rest of their reservations for later games might become void—contacting one of us as soon as a person knows they will not make their slot will help ensure that this doesn’t happen.

Friday 21st
12pm-5pm
6pm-11pm
Saturday 22nd
8am-12pm
1pm-6pm
7pm-midnight (this will be the slot when we run Siege of the Diamond City…make sure that you feel comfortable running the special if you volunteer for this slot).
Sunday 23rd
9am-2pm
Please let us know if you are interested in GMing or volunteering to help run HQ. When you do respond, please make sure to mention what slots you would be interested in running.

So, in PFS I have noticed that higher level spellcasting baddies often are about denial of movement. Especially Black Tentacles...which as a player I find annoying :-).

I have the option to get Dispelling Bombs, which I think will work on this evil conjuration. Here is me arguing both sides.

Side one, it doesn't work:
Per pg 30 of APG about Dispelling Bombs: "This cannot be used to target a specific spell effect." That pretty much says it there, the black tentacles spell would be a specific spell effect.

Side two, it could work:
From what I understand of Dispel Magic, you can target a person/object to dispel 1 spell, going from the highest spell level spell to the lowest. You can also use "targeted dispel" to specifically end one spell affecting the target or one spell affecting an area.

For example, the way I read the Dispelling Bombs, I couldn't specifically pick on a stoneskinned flying mage and dispel the fly spell (a lower spell) over the stone skin spell (the higher of the spell). The Dispelling Bomb's check would be rolled, and from the highest level spell downward, the dispel magic number would be accessed until one spell was successfully dispelled (or none if the roll was that pitiful).

But from all I have seen, Black tentacles are effectively a magical conjuration that is not able to be attacked, but is able to be dispelled. Because it looks like there is a ruling that "Dispelling Bombs" can target summoned creatures, what stops it from being able to dispel Black Tentacles?

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks.
