Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Hello all. Bad news.
I am afraid I will need to bow out of this game.
My apologies, you are all excellent players and Hector, you are a fine GM. I simply have not been able to focus on the game and you deserve a better player in the slot.

I urge you to continue the game and wish you well.
Again my apologies
Poor Wandering One, Formerly Vorgen Alph of the Adamant Will.

"Slinking it is then..."

Vorgen dispatches a batsman to gather his gear and arrives at the shuttle.

Shuttle or Guncutter? We have both correct? Assuming shuttle.

"Welcome to the good ship Atalanta. Departing for a short cruise amongst the myriad moons on our way to Egaria Omega. Release docking clamps."

Pilot check target 40: 1d100 ⇒ 90. I should have gone into accountancy.

Under his breath Muddwellers.

"It would be easy for something to hide in all this noise."

Auger check for other ships, space mines, sleeper missiles, etc. Target (34+10ship-30noise)14 : 1d100 ⇒ 23

"Can't see a blessed thing. Too many gravity distortions."

Vorgen spends some time with the system readouts.

"So captain. Do we slink in on the Father William or do we put on an entrance and bring the Will into close orbit? The moons look intimidating but it is just a matter of orbital mechanics. Your call."

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Still here, been busy but still here.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Skip....skip.... trip...ow
I'm good.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Vorgen looks about.

"Hmmm.. all the readouts appear to be dead. Did we flood the engines again?"

This game still going?

So, I guess from the lack of postings lately that we're dead-in-the-water?

I suspect so. DMHector is still posting in his other games but nothing here since the 19th.

I'll keep an eye out for a while more but hope is fading.
Should things improve are you still interested?

"Nothing but solid air and old mountain tops. Good if you want to get some skiing in then it is a perfect spot but pretty useless to us right now."

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Do we know anything about the Witch-Cursed world?

"Ah, well we know where we are at least. One of the safe stations on the way to Footfall."

Vorgen consults readouts

"Not much here.... cold... dead... Remains of an atmosphere now frozen solid. Not much of a vacation spot. We could orbit it a few times while we check the engines and Geller field. Give the etherics a workout trying to find anything down there."

Assuming there will be some time before we are ready to drop into the warp again I'll do a focused scan on the planet. Looking for anything that is not ice or rock. Etherics (scrutiny) skill check target 34+10 bridge check 1d100 ⇒ 30. Hmmm not bad, anything?

Need another check GM? Or is astromancy the right skill? Target 37. Check 1d100 ⇒ 4 for 5 degrees of success. I think that is correct anyway.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Please, please, for the love of the emperor's iridium Zocchihedron please, feel free to take the helm. :7). I just took the roll cause I knew you were out for a bit.

Vorgen feeds the latest etheric readings to the pilot's throne.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Thought about it but as I was not actually asked to make the roll I am waiting for Word from on High before I use one.

"-d's blood!" Vorgen snaps as some of the static discharged from the collapsing Geller field chooses to earth through the thrust controls.

"Brace for acceleration. We need to get this hulk under control. Full power, ninety second burn on .. MARK!

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

"Not that setting! Vorgen moves past a frightened sub pilot. Here, here, here and here. The lighting dims throughout the Will as auxiliary power is transferred to the destabilized Geller field.

Vorgen listens to the laboring engines and feels the flickering field.

"Come on....You didn't spend all that time in the hulk just to become warp-fodder....."

Another Trade Voidfarer check if needed, 1d100 ⇒ 14. Target is 37 so that is 3 degrees of success? One for getting under 37 and then one for 24 and the third for 34. Right?

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Just had word from AK.
Still looks like Oct 1 for a full return to posting. However there may be problems that will drag it out to the 11th.

He is still quite interested and WILL return so all is good.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Trade: Voidfarer: 1d100 ⇒ 37 target is 37 so a success. Barely but still a success.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

"Aetherics are blind in the warp. Trying to determine if this is an attack or a technical fault."

Vorgen works calmly at the pilot's station. If it is just the field playing up they are fine. If it collapses, well at least it will be quick..

Perhaps some useful skills?
Trade: Voidfarer?
Pilot: Spacecraft?
Navigation: Stellar?
Scholastic Lore: Astromancy?
Should I make checks?

Forbidden lore Xenos 37, 1d100 ⇒ 70. Well at least you won't have to add anything else to the data block.

Also wondering re: relevant lore skills.
Expect Astromancy might get me something on Egaria. Test vs 37 1d100 ⇒ 2. 3 successes, any new data?

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

both.

use NPC for now and bring in replacement when you find someone.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Vorgen enters the captains quarters, his skin still feeling odd with the armor and muscle treatments. A data pad detailing ways to add launch tubes to the Will in his hands.

Quite a lot of errors on the successes there so I went through it.

The mesh cowl passed, as the base TN was 30, not 20. Modified by commerce, TN46. Add the mesh cowl.

You also just barely managed the Inferno shells so add those too.

As it stands you have no head armor. Might I suggest a cowl to go with your xeno-mesh? I am thinking good quality, going for best right know is a reach

For you: Mesh cowl, rare (-10); good quality (-10), single (+30). Net+10.
Check us vs 64 1d100 ⇒ 82. Check them vs 40 1d100 ⇒ 61. 1 failure vs 2 failure for +2.
Final Check vs (40+10+2) 52: 1d100 ⇒ 33.

Hey presto head armor. 4points on the first hit of a combat 3 after that.

other options.
Better void suit
the book that would help counteract stranger to the cult.
Grav chutes for the command crew
heavy void suits for the command crew.
digital weapon for a nasty surprise.
Backup gun for things that don't respond well to lasers. Perhaps a shot-pistol with inferno rounds and a selector?

just some ideas

I would like to apologize to you for disappearing for the most part of the week. Circumstances beyond my control have left me no choice. My home city of Marikina in the Philippines was flooded for the most part since August 7, 2012 until today August 10, 2012. Water rose to as high as 20 meters. Power was cut to prevent electricity related fatalities, hence, the lack of posts.

For many of us here, this is the second time since 2009 that our homes have been flooded. We are still lucky since we are still here to celebrate our survival.

Now that power is constant, expect my posting to return to normal.

Man that is not good.. glad you are ok

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Hmmm both the trophy room and the temple sound good to me.

Could we use a couple more light craft? Best to have a spare in case we loose our ride home some time.

Also can we get actual non-crew troops, hire mercs or something? Useful and impressive. If that is out of reach how about some decent armor and weapons for the crew or a least a segment of them.

Will post personal acquisitions later tonight.

Suggestions happily accepted.

Welcome to the game Malachi.

We have just compleated downtime following the salvage of the Bounty and are enroute to Footfall for the first time

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Crew is ready all systems functioning above requirements. We are ready for warp translation.

Just a checking in post. Figure the Navis will make any needed rolls/narrate the jump.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

Bump?

Or are we waiting for something?

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

I think so but that is a very good question...

Awareness and Trade Voidfarer skills.

Just got back from Kiev. Emphasis mine- it'll get where it needs to go, I don't know why Vorgen's still insisting on salvaging it.

Just trying to get this beast out of the cloud so we can strip her without having to worry about too many micro-meteorites. All fluff really. You will note Vorgen's run down of functional systems pretty much precluded recovering the ship. Spine severed, etherics dead etc..

Over ships vox. This is Vorgen Alph on the bridge of the Emperors Bounty. The ship is back under control. Navigator Orden is at rest and the device that enslaved him is destroyed. Many good shipmates died here but this nightmare is over.
.
In a few (moments/hours? not sure)we will be docking with the Adament Will. After standard medical and theological checks we will be looking to each of you to aid in the salvage effort. The Bounty was a good ship, working together we can be sure her legacy continues. Bridge out.

By vox to the Adament Will: "This is Vorgen Alph. We have control of the Bounty and will be exiting the cloud shortly. There are survivors on board so please have medical and salvage teams ready. Bounty out."

Though broken and battered the Emperor’s Bounty is still a majestic sight as she exits the cloud. Coming to her final rest along side the Adamant Will she seems almost relaxed, happy that her duties are done. Her running lights extinguished she seems to sleep as the salvage crews swarm around her.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

For my part I was suprised at how easy the warped navi went down. I mean it was a lucky shot but not that lucky.

Also there was never a feeling of real threat. Perhaps if the navi beat one or two of us to jelly before we managed a way out of the bridge in the first fight, or tried to take over our navigator?

All in all a good introduction and I am looking forward to more.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

"Sorry, got distracted. Short of it is the Bounty will never make it out of the graveyard, but we can use the attitude jets and careful atmosphere venting to move out of the local debris field. Especially if the Will clears the way with a few pot-shots."

Not sure how long you want this drawn out but Vorgen wants to bring the ship out of the debris field to make salvaging easier. If we can use the drives then great otherwise getting the survivors out, pointing the ship in the right direction and venting a couple kilometers worth of atmosphere out a single voidlock as reaction mass should get the bounty free of the local field. The Will matches vector, slings across an umbilical or twenty, and Bob's your uncle.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

"Well the cannon would have saved time...And they can still be useful...."
Vorgen takes the pilots station and begins powering up subsystems.

"Lord Captain. We have power. Attitude control, functioning. Leaking atmosphere but nothing we can't take. Weapon control disabled but the guns themselves appear to be working. Auspex, oh dear that is bad. Etherics badly damaged. Minimal manuvering will be fine but anything more and she'll be flying blind. Speaking of manuvering we have full engine power. Geller field is functioning but only at emergency levels."

Vorgen consults a sreies of readouts. Crosschecking to verify the results before turning to Silus with a grave expression.

"This is not good. There is extensive structural damage, both the spine and skin supports are severed. The Bounty will never fly again. If we put any real stress on her we will end up with half a ship."

Returning to the controls Vorgen continues
"This is good news, internal and external vox are fully functional. I think both the Bounty survivors and our own crew would welcome some reassuring words. Shall I activate the ship's vox?"

Hector, What is still working? Life support and remote voidlock controls? Attitude jets? Macrocannons? If any of these systems are live we should be able to use them to move the Bounty clear of the cloud making the stripping her easier.

Master of Etherics on the Adamenent will

The bloody multiple hits table is next to the full-auto action. and you are correct it is a second leg hit

Watching the walking dead approach with a level gaze Vorgen raises his bolt pistol and takes a careful single shot at what was once the navigator.

Half action aim for +10. Half action fire at navi-thing, aim, short range. Target Skill (42+10+10)=62 1d100 ⇒ 4. Damage 2d10 ⇒ (10, 7) = 17+5 or 15 points to the head at Pen 4.
