Vishantos loads his crossbow. "Who knows what find of animal has taken shelter in these ruins. Might be worse than a skunk. I think it is unwise to split up until we have at least done a quick investigation." Vishantos gestures and mutters a few arcane words, a brief sparkle of energy surrounds him. casts mage armour, duration 1 hour "I think we should be prepared for trouble."

Vishantos looks up from his spellbook. "Hmm... what? Oh. Yes, I'm just a bit tired, what with this cough. must have picked up a cold sleeping out like this. Not used to it. I'm much better off than those poor souls who have this blackscour fever or whatever... I suppose we'd better get going." He stows his book in his pack and shoulders it, then picks up his crossbow and gets ready to hit the trail.

Vishantos looks around at all the weird fetishes hanging around the clearing. "If we camp here, I suggest we bury some of this stuff, along with the witch. Otherwise I doubt we'll get much sleep." "We may want to push on a little further though. If we can find a good site a little closer to the monastary, then tomorrow we could go there, look for the mushrooms, and return to the same campsite. It shouldn't take us long to find the mushrooms if they're there."

Vishantos rummages around in the cottage. "Wow, there's quite a lot of useful stuff here. Just give me a few minutes... I wonder if she was planning to... No i'm sure the skunk moved in after she died... something though, I'd say..." He shoves seeming random herbs, jars and bottles into his bag. "I wonder if What's her name in town would be interested in any of this stuff. We could bring her back here when this is all over." After he is done he goes back out to the edge of the clearing and finds the injured fox. "Still here? I may have to give you a name..." He gives the fox a piece of dired meat from his rations. BTW, made the Knowledge, Aracana, failed the Appraise.

Vishantos yells "Cauldron Attack! Cauldron Attack!" Trying to keep his distance from the thing, he casts a spell. Unfortunately, he fumbles the gestures while dancing away from the cauldron, and the spell fails. Cast defensively, rolls a one (total 7), loses 'enlarge person.'

"Let me see if I can help." Vishantos casts prestidigitation and tries to remove the odour from Geddoe. Failing that, he will add flowery scents if possible. Worst case, he will create a gentle breeze to direct the worst of the smell away from himself. "Now then, let's see how organized this witch was." Vishantos will look and see if he can make sense of the herbs were sorted and stored. He will avoid the moldy corpse.

Vishantos walks alongside the others, humming absently to himself. Occasionally he mutters "...no, that'll never work..." or "mm hmm, mm hmm that's a good idea. I'll have to remember that..." Once in a while he suddenly blinks and looks around as though startled to find himself walking through the woods.

"Ahem (cough). I suggest we check at the witch's hut first. If she's still there, she may be able to give us more information, or she may even have the ingredients we need on hand. Then maybe we can use that as a base point from which to explore the other locations." "If we head out now, we can probably make it to the river by evening, and then we can figure out how to cross it while we camp." Am I remotely correct in my belief that we can reach the river before dark?

Vishantos follows at as quick a pace as he can muster. "I won't be able to keep this pace all day..." he admits, wheezing a little. "We'll need to take it a little easier in the afternoon." EDIT: I started typing this before Dragonmann's last two posts appeared. "Oh, thank goodness!" Vishantos rests in the wagon, catching his breath.

Vishantos also purchases some extra food for the journey. 2 gp deducted "I don't think horses or carts would help us much in these woods. The terrain is too rough and the trails get narrow. I'm not much of a woodsman or anything, but that's been my impression. I'm pretty sure the lumber is floated downriver as rafts, but boating upriver would be slow going. I think we are better off walking. A donkey to carry some of our gear might be useful, but I don't know how to care for such creatures."
