The older man reads over your ledger. He takes in all in and then looks up to your group. For moments there is no expression. Then a smile creeps over his face, This looks and sounds fantastic. The items must look amazing, you must show me what you’ve found

everything correct on the ledger or leaving anything out on purpose in terms of loot and/or tower spoils Vincent quietly and methodically goes over every line on the ledger. You’ll hear him make a few “mhmm” noise and the occasional “ahh” muttering.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
That sounds amazing. I wish I could have experienced it as you see his eyes flicker with excitement and revel in your adventure. Magical snake creatures…hmm. as he ponders what they could have been or the reasonings behind their connection to the tower. He takes a puff on the pipe, then continues Were you able to find anything of monetary value. Book, etchings, carvings?

Chef Vincent looks at you long and hard, and after a few moments of deep thought, gives a deep sigh. Fine, at least you are safe. Now get back to work before I change my mind And with a gruff voice, he gets up and walks back to the kitchen, and turn to you as he gets to the door. You still remember how to chop vegetables I hope You get back to work in the kitchen, and it is a feeling that seems like it never left. You chop carrots, onions, and celery. You than throw them in whatever stew or soup Chef Vincent needs at the time. A few hours fly by, like they never existed. Around 3 in the afternoon, a messenger comes in and yells for Chef Vincent. He speaks to Chef Vincent, who in turn calls for you. Boy, it looks like Captain Trone is looking for you, go. I can finish from here
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Chef, you head into Chef Vincent's kitchen. He hears the sound of your shoes as they tromp in, and he raises his voice, God's be damned. How many times do I have to tell you Marcus, you.. At that point, he comes around the corner, and the vegetables he was carrying clang on the ground as they fall from his hands upon seeing you. Chef Bolognese, is that really you?! I though you had left or died or something. The talk of the town wasn't pleasant to you I must say. Take a seat, tell me everything young man. He takes a seat on the bar stool, and orders a stiff drink to accompany the incoming story.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Mar... Marcus just keeps going. Marcus, just where the hell you think you going boy. You don't keep walking when I am talking to you! Marcus stops, turns and looks at Vincent and yells at him. I QUIT, YOU OLD BASTARD!, as he storms off. Chef Vincent looks at you Chef. Please follow him and see if you can figure out what is going on
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Chef Chef Vincent looks at you, then the vial. It ain't mine boy. But if I ever find out who is storing their sh*t in my storeroom will get an asswhoppin', that's for sure. Chef Vincent, ponders what to do about the vial. I am gonna go talk to the only people who ever go into my storeroom, other than you and me. It's my delivery boy, Marcus. As you leave Chef Bolognese, you notice the young delivery boy entering the kitchen. You notice he is very sweaty.

Chef Chef, you easily break down the first section of beef for Chef Vincent's beef and lamb stew. The second slab of meat goes by quicker and easier than the first. You break it down, trimming off all the excess fat and cube it up for his next stew. The final cut of beef, proves tricky though. He instructs you that instead of it cubed, he wants it cut, against the grain and in long strips for a new dish he wants to try. You have a difficult time finding the grain to cut against. You hack up the piece of meat. Ahh, what the hell happened here! I..I Chef Vincent yell out in frustration. Ugh, okay. I cannot use what you've done, so I will have to improvise. I will just use the meat for kabobs, yeah. I think that will work...well we will see anyways. You did a great job on the other cuts, so I cannot get too mad at you I suppose. Take a break kid, you seem stressed out.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Chef Chef Vincent looks at you the next morning, a smile creeps on his usually stern face. You did an excellent job my boy. The butcher and I got things worked out, well sort of. I hear that you filled in well in my absence. I least I didn't make an incorrect choice in giving you the kitchen, but don't get used to it boy for I don't plan on being gone much in the future. After a few moments, he pulls you aside, You heard about Fletcher too. Don't go reading too much into the rumors you hear, people are viscous gossipers and story-spinners Now, prepare the beef that I got for the various stews we will be doing today. craft/profession check. Three of them, a DC 12, then a DC 15, then a DC 17 After you get done prepping the beef for the stews, you take a break and head out of the kitchen and have a cold drink in the dining area. You hear various rumors while at the bar. You hear a couple talking about Flecther,Steve, did you hear how Flecther died, it was a suicide Frank, I heard it wasn't suicide but a drug overdose. He went senile in his old age and started abusing drugs. No Frank and Steve, it want' either of those. He was killed by a serial murderer who came from New Steven to escape the authorities there.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Chef I didn't scare you off yet boy?! You must have some pretty thick skin? So, my butcher hasn't delivered the fresh cut beef I ordered from him for the day. It should be about twenty pounds of various cuts: flank steaks, ribs, t-bones. You get my point. Head over to his butcher shop and get me my damned beef. It's been paid for as like last time. He looks as if to say you're still here?
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Vincent takes in the aroma of the fish, and then takes a bite. Not bad, could use a touch more salt, but overall...not bad boy. Here's another few silver for a good day's work. Take the rest of the evening off and come back tomorrow for another day. I am gonna push you each day, so be prepared. Obtain another 3 silver
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Chef Vincent looks at your cleanliness, and actually smirks. Not a enraging smirk, but rather one of amazement. Ya know it's just gonna get dirty again boy, but I admire your gumption. I got another job for you before you end your shift for the day. Make me your dish. What fish is more favorite. I wanna see what you can do. You've got one hour.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Chef Bolognese You add the ingredients as desired by Chef Vincent. You do an adequate job of adding the cream, and do not scald the cream. Vincent tastes each stew. Not bad boy, not bad at all. The potato cream soup came out well. As long as you listen, you may well survive in my kitchen he says with a hearty laugh. He tosses you a small pouch and it jingles when you grab it. You get 5 copper pieces
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Took you long enough boy. Now put the pepper blend in the stew pot, dice the last of the veggies and add them to the smaller stew pot. Finally stir in the heavy cream, slowly, into the cauldron over the live fire. Take care not to scald the cream, otherwise the dish will have to be thrown out and your wages cut. DC 10 craft check to not scald cream
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Just recycling an alias. Plus I got him still stated up :). About an hour goes by. Chef Vincent stops chopping and looks at you Chef Bolognese, I need you to go to market and pick up a few things to finish the breakfast. There should be enough in the pouch to get what I need...now be quick about it. You have 30 minutes. as he hands you a list and a small pitch of coin. The pouch contains 10 silver pieces. The lincludes: sweet onions, red peppers, potatoes, black pepper and heavy cream
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
An older man, grey hair with slight white in the beard. He looks up from jus prep work. What took you so long boy, you trying to kill me by having me do all the work? Grab a board and your knife set and help me get the prep done for breakfast, it ain't gonna ready itself. Vincent walks with a limp, he is strong and tough, he lets NOTHING slide and will tell you if you are doing a piss poor job in his kitchen. He works with a determination to feed the working class.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
During the weekend, Vincent will feel very homesick, adn look to the others, I am terribly sorry folks, but I must return home. I miss my family too much, and being away from them kills me every day. Good luck to all, and may your dishes be as vibrant in color as they are in taste. I am bowing out, but I do wish everyone a great gaming experience. Please remove me from the list :)
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Vincent will bow to the Lord, he will than return to work in the kitchen. He keeps up the hard work, making sure not to alter the stew in any way. If it ain't broke, don't go fixin' it, he thinks to himself. On his 2 days off, he will soak his old body, off an on during the day. He will write another note to his wife and grandchild. He finishes the letter by inviting them to the manor next weekend to see and experience what he is.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
MY VOTES...Comfort 1: spinach/mushroom puffs. Comfort 2: creamy Mac/cheese sourdough bread bowl. Comfort 3: beef pot roast with earthy veggies. Exotic 1: jack-root. Exotic 2: dragon milk pizza (plain or with toppings?). Exotic 3: dragon turtle stew?
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
What about a creamy macaroni and cheese, in a sourdough bread bowl. I know I have eaten a few in my day, he he pays his stomach. I haven't made one myself I must admit. Perhaps we could incorporate some roasted peppers to add a touch of heat to wake the tongue to the salty, smooth cheese flavor as well as the slight tartness of the bowl?
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
For his first day off, Vincent will relax in the room. He will write a letter back home, detailing his first week. It's successes with the dish and how he fumbled the words and that he demands better of himself. He mentions that he misses everyone at home, and perhaps next weekend his wife and granddaughter could visit for a day. He wonders what the next week will hold, and concludes the letter with a thought of love. The second day, he rests his old creaky body. He ices down his knee, to prepare for the next weeks challenge. --------- Vincent listens to the next challenges before him. I know home cooked, it is what I have done for the past years. I think Chef Bahram and Mimi will be very well with their exotic trainings. I wonder what I could bring to the table?, he thinks to himself. I have some ideas for hearty stews that may lend well to the upcoming week. Maybe braised quail or kobe beef stew. Tessara could make some tender dumplings to incorporate into the stew. Mimi knows vegetables better than I, she can help to pair the meat and vegetables. Bahram knows cheese, perhaps we could pair a cheese to thicken the stew and give it some richness to balance the earthy vegetables and meat? Thoughts from you talented folks?
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Vincent with give a shirt nod to the Lord as he doles out the compliments. When he hears that Chefs Ashley and Dinte were victorious so to speak, he thought to himself, I need to speak better, not be as gruff or short. Plus I need to prepare better, next time, as he gives the winners a quick nod of congrats. He offers an arm to Tessara, an arm to accompany you to the rooms?

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25 Vincent, usually one of the most gruff, rigid, and structured individuals you could meet or know...somehow relaxes as the presentation of his portion of the dish is presented to all the guests involved. A dish gets spilled, but instead of "blowing up" towards the waiter, Vincent took a deep breath, redid the dish and sent it out the kitchen.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
soup: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24 Once the dish is agreed upon, Vincent will head towards the basement and the cold storage area. He will grab enough while chickens to make the first nights food. He then heads and grabs a variety of spices; thyme, rosemary, tarragon, salt, and pepper. He proceeds upstairs to begin the prep work. After an hour, all the chickens have been gutted, the guts placed aside as he is unsure if he wishes to use them for stock. He then rubs each chicken down with extra virgin olive oil, and rubs each bird liberally with salt and pepper. He then does something different, he puts each bird in a pan, and let's the bird sit overboard get to brine so to speak. The next day, he gets up early, prepares for he day as quietly as possible then retrieved his birds. He then roasts each bird over an open flame, until the birds are cooked to perfection. He uses the various guts, to infuse the stock with extra flavor. He picks a wild rice blend, his mother always made. He cooks the rice in water, but adds rosemary, thyme and salt, with just a touch of fresh butter. Once the rice is done, he adds it to the fresh made stock, and adds shredded chicken to the mixture. He adds salt and pepper to taste, ensuring the final product will compliment the sweet bun of Tessara. For presentation, he find a small cup, big enough to hold 12 ounces, preferably a pink or red hue. He carefully fills each cup, and places it in the middle of his "half" of the plate. Phew, this old man is beat. I hope the guests enjoy our hard work.

Visuals are half of the eating experience, is it not? Your visual component, along with the smells of both the bread and soup will cause it to be that much better, right? Your bun will be sweet, complimenting the earthiness of the soup. So, I will make a chicken and rice soup, with roasted chicken. By roasting the chance glen, I am hoping to impart a balance of smokiness as well as more flavor into the soup. I will use a wild rice blend, flavored with earthy herbs like rosemary and thyme. I have confidence in your bun breaking the earthiness and adding lightness to the soup. The broth will be clear as to not add extra "weight" to the dish.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Vincent will look towards the pair of chefs, with the vegetable and cheese pairing. What thoughts do you have for your dish. I would like our dishes to compliment one another. Are you going on the heavier side or lighter side? If I go with a savory soup, and Tessara makes a sweeter bun; will you be able to have enough creative room to make a dish that builds on ours?

Tuesday evening:
Vincent is happy to hear a courier service does exist. He gives the person the 5cp for delivery, plus an additional 1cp tip in appreciation. Vincent then has a quick bite to eat, a sandwich with some local ham and cheese then goes to bed for the night. Wednesday Vincent wakes early, even after being out of the military for a couple decades, his body refuses to sleep in. He enjoys a cup of coffee, with a touch of vanilla. He bathes last, as his old, creaky body doesn't move as fast, and he doesn't want to make people wait. He makes sure his face is clean shaven, his hair fits under the chef's hat and he proceeds to the kitchen for his first official day of employment. When hearing about the occasion, he has a quick smile as he thinks about a memorable Sheylyn day with his wife Terrah about 6 or 7 years ago. When Chef Saki is done with the briefing, he cannot get a word out as Tessara starts to squeal with joy. After her series of rapid-fire questions and thoughts, he ponders for a moment about how to compliment her baking skills. Well I have a few ideas. If we go with pretzel bread, I could make a thick tomato bisque, using a hotter spice blend to signify Sheylyn Day. Romance is love and passion and heat. Or if we go with a sweeter bun, I could make a savory chicken and rice soup, with savory herbs like tarragon, parsley, and other earthy herbs.

Vincent gives Bahram a firm handshake and a nod, You'll do good boy, you are a lot like my son, and he turned out to be quite the man. I will be sure to inform you and the others of any company as well Vincent locks his goods, and then heads to the kitchen to familiarize himself with his work station. He sees others down there with the same thinking, Hello Tessara, Mimi and Phillip. I see great minds think alike, Vincent says with a hearty laugh. Vincent will get used to working in such close proximity to another individual. He ensures his cooking supplies (knives, cutting board, etc), are ready for tomorrow's first day of use. He wonders what kind of dishes will be on the menu. He then wonders if he has enough time to smoke some meat. He than begins to ponder some potential soups and stews, as well as some different takes on classic dishes. He heads down to storage to do another walk through of level to get used to the layout. He sees the chicken, he thinks of a roasted chicken soup. He sees ham, and he remembers the ham and pea soup his mother used to make. He heads back to the kitchen, and looks around to all there, I have some ideas about using your specialties to create some unique soups or stews in the future. I will wait until tomorrow, to get a better idea of the first menu before I get ahead of myself
After finishing in the kitchen, he locks his fine crafted tools, in his station drawer, then returns to the living quarters. He looks around to see who is there, Ives them each a nod, and goes to his bedroom. He takes the fine crafted quilt, folds it neat and precise then puts it away gently in his bedside trunk. Such fine work, shouldn't get dirty He then takes out a piece of paper and an inkpen. He writes a handwritten letter to his wife Terrah. He writes about the tour and his experiences. How he has butterflies, just like when he was in the military and when she had said 'I do' all those years ago. He finishes the letter asking for ideas, insight and patience.
He goes to find Chef Sali, Ma'am, is there a letter courier who could deliver a letter back home for me? If so, he will pass the letter along.

When Vincent learns of his roommate, his brow raises as he looks at Bahram. God help me Vincent looks around the room, I am but a humble man, these furnishings are very extravagant. Any chance my wife and granddaughter could visit such a place sometime in the future? Vincent looks at the plush couches and other furnishings. Vincent looks at the chef's attire, a tear actually forms in his eye, but it is gone as quick as it formed. He takes a look out the window, and admires the view. The trunk is nicely sized. He opens it, and places his few possessions inside armor, small pouch of gold. The tapestry blanket makes him smile. I sure hope my granddaughter Elise is doing well. Vincent than looks to Bahram, Seems your divine power has put us together. Perhaps we can learn something from one another? What do you say young man?, as he extends his hand.
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
Damned kid is lucky he isn't in the military. The CO would have kicked his ass for lying. If he hadn't, he would wish it so for the CO would have made his do so much PT he would wish he were dead Enough, from everyone. Tessara is right. Unless anyone has proof of any wrong doing, let us focus on the task at hand. Now, this old mans bladder is winning the battle, I shall return shortly. Vincent heads to the head, when seeing Bahram. Bahram only: Listen boy, your foolish antics will either get you tossed from this employment or killed due to pissing someone off. If it were up to me, you be gone. However, I am not the head chef of this place. While I was too young AND stupid, I just don't want to see you throw this opportunity and kick yourself later in life. Take it from a wise old man, shape up or get gone, for if you pull another stunt like that I WILL interject myself...understand? After his little speech, he relieves his bladder then heads back to the kitchen

Vincent walks along, with the others of the tour. He tries to "wrap" his head around the water system but gives up after a minute or so. I hate magic, give me a sword any day, I think to myself. Vincent has few troubles navigating the steps. He looses his footing a slips, luckily he was near the landing so there wasn't a big tumble. In the kitchen, Vincent's eyeballs go as big as saucers. Everything...is...spotless. I think if we were crazy enough we could actually EAT off these floors right now. Vincent goes to his assigned station, runs his palm face down over the surface. You pushed me for this Terrah, thank you for never letting me settle, I say u dee my breathe. I look on at the spectacle before me, at a loss for words. sm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 I am lost ooc as to what I would know about the situation. With a 22, what do I know exactly lol

Perception DC 20:
The cane Vincent is using is also a sword cane. Vincent follows along. Looking around at the maculate furnishing and surroundings. Wow, I wonder if the lord was previously in the military. My old drill sargent would be impressed, I think to myself as I walk around. When in the basement, I look over the various containers and boxes. Ma'am, how are the meats organized?
Male Human Paladin (scion of talmandor) 5 / Inquisitor 2 |
In walks a man, in his mid 30s, graying hair with steaks of black. He looks around to those gathered, seems I am the old man. Guess I better be on my game Vincent is dressed more as a grandpa, than a world class chef. He wears a brown, buttoned down shirt and a pair of black trousers. His face is clean shaven, except for the now thinking mustache under his nose. His hair is clean, and overall he is well groomed. The first thing noticed about him, is his limp. He walks with a limp in his left leg. The cane that supports his frame, is made from beautiful oak, adorned with rose filigree. Unlike many of the others, he has few possessions on him; a cooking set and a dagger on his hip. When offered tea, he bends over, albeit slowly and partaken of its contents. This is quite good, your own blend I presume? Vincent then gingerly bends over and places the teacup back. When offered a fine chocolate, he humbly declines. While I love chocolate in l its forms, my stomach would hate me if I partook in such a rich sweet. I thank you for the offer. Vincent then walks over to the couch, turns around to face all gathered, My name is Vincent Del Sol. Once a proud military man, now a proud cook. I would offer a sample of my specialty, but soups are not the easiest to transport. I hope our employer has got my cauldron as well, I couldn't carry it in. Vincent will then sit on the couch and await his new employers entrance.
interview response: My name is Vincent Del Sol, sir. I want to become a chef at your restaurant, to become something. Ever since the war had ended, and my age has increased, my physical skills have diminished. Luckily, I had picked up cooking as a pastime, which I have gotten better at as I had focused on it. I prefer to focus on stews and soups. Even though I have been out of the military for two decades, I still cook for a large gathering; which will be perfect for your new eatery. For your tasting today, I offer three stews. The first is a hearty vegetable stew, filled with fresh root vegetables from my humble garden. Leeks, carrots, potatoes, and some local pepper seasonings. The second soup, is a personal favorite, chicken and corn chowder. Nothing fancy, I admit. However, fancy does not equate better. The final disk is a cold gazpacho. Fresh pressed tomatoes, some salt, pepper, and a few fresh basil leaves to add a bit of zing. I hope you both enjoy them. Why should you chose me, over another? I work hard, and strive to better myself. I ensure if there are workers under me, they perform their tasks as per my instruction. Stubborn, demanding, vigilant What makes me laugh the most are children. My memories of my children keep me young and going. Thank you for your time; sir, ma'am. prof: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
