I am interested in finding a Pathfinder 2e group. I live in Rancho San Diego and work in San Diego. What part of the county are you in?

I love the idea of ancestry feats making your character "more" dwarfy or elfy or whatever, but the minimum baseline for your racial/ancestral feats needs to be changed. As it is written now you have to take your entire character's career to become the baseline of your ancestry. For example your halforc spontaneously develops dark vision at 5th level...?

The base ancestries should include the basics. Your feats should draw on unique and interesting aspects of racial/ancestral identity. Not just get you to the starting gate.

This really needs to be addressed. Considering this is your background, i.e. core to your character's identity before he became an adventurer I think that not only should you have the prerequisite skill, it should be a signature skill.

I agree with Fennris. The Ranger is a hot mess. I love the idea of a "monster hunter" but the feat is all but useless and the follow on "feat tree" is at best weak. That coupled with a weak core ability in "Hunt Target" and a combat useless set of feats built around "expensive" snares and you have reduced what should be a tough, resourceful wilderness warrior to a glorified animal handler.

However, I do like the perception boosts. That is in keeping with an ever watchful hunter.

Thanks for the responses. I did totally miss Soothe and Soothing Ballad.

I love the idea of the Ranger as a "monster hunter"! I even think it is a great idea to attach the benefit behind a skill check, even if it is a critical success at lower levels. But the benefit if you succeed doesn't measure up to the cost of a feat. A +1 on your attack roll, after which the target is bolstered makes this pointless. Why would a Ranger, after quickly studying a target gain insight into how to fight it for 4 seconds... and then forget that insight? Especially when you compare it to something like the Bard's first level composition "Inspire Courage" which gives a +1 to attack and damage and can be cast every round... Monster Hunter is a great idea but woefully under powered for the cost.

The character description states, "During combat, use magical performances to alter odds in your group's favor. You can alternate between helpful spells, attacks, and HEALING as needed". Correct me if I am wrong, but Bards don't have healing spells under Occult and aren't trained in medicine so where does the healing come into play?

In my opinion the opportunity to play a goblin or DM a group that has a goblin player opens up great roleplaying opportunities. I look forward to reviewing the ancestry in its complete form.
