Excellent! The UPS label would be best, as my office is just a half-block away from the UPS store.
ORDER # 2127218 Erik Myers • AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide (1E) Hardcover
I received my three rulebooks today, and noticed a problem with the AD&D Players Handbook (1E) Hardcover. The binding is not glued to the inside covers of the book. The brown liner paper is free from the cardboard on the front as if it never received it’s final attachment process. How do I progress from here? I would obviously like to receive a book that is in good shape which this one is not (through no fault of your own). Do I send it back to you? I would like to avoid the shipping costs if possible. Please advise.
I find myself needing to cancel my subscription to Pathfinder Adventure Paths for now. I plan to return in total again, but for now the cancellation is required. I see that there are a couple of the books supposed to come my way in August. If I could have those removed, I would appreciate it. Thank you
I have sent a couple of emails about this subject: I was trying to check on what appears to be a duplicate order, separated by a few months, but I cannot access what the orders are. I just get a message that says my order has been split into three orders. I have a couple of questions about it that I cannot verify. If you could assist me, I would appreciate it. 1. I wanted to make sure I do not have identical orders twice. I was looking to purchase the 1e AD&D rulebooks, just the one time however (if they are identical orders)
My order numbers from the website are:
2124524 Jul 4, 2012 This order was split into 3 orders.

Nit-picky comment, but coming from someone who is proud to live less than 1/2 hour from the birthplace of that game, Lake Geneva is here in Wisconsin...hehe.
Nobody said they could not play it out whenver they wanted at whatever time scale THEY elect to, but the implications of the APs are that there is a sequence of events that are taking place at any given time. No one is telling people how/when to play the products. I am just saying that there has been an effort in their products already to emphasize that the world rolls along at a nearly year for year pace, why not cap it with an event as well? Those could be played whenver the DMs decided as well. I like the idea of an organic world that has a bit of change to it. FR had the same thing to an extant, EXCEPT that when they decided to change thigs, or make world wide events, they tended to mark drastic, sometimes horrible alterations. This would be on a smaller scale, but still worthy enough to mark a yearly occurance.
What I would like to see added would be a yaerly book with the changes and events that took place over that year. The first part could be a summarization of the modules and APs that took place, where they were and what impact they had on the setting. The idea is that the Golarian's years go by 1 for 1 with ours right? If a larger-than-normal adventure could be released with that has another higher-than-average event that would take us into the next year, that would be great. That way we could get a higher scale event, with a listing of all the canon events that took place that year without having to play through an entire AP every time. Paizo would also be getting free self-advertising for their own products wrapped in.

But lately it seems like the rulebook/supplement book-to-adventure ratio is more like 3:1 or something. Opening up a whole 'nother continent (Tian Xia) and soon Planets(!) just seems like its going to dilute the adventures more. I agree. We have a massive landscape that has been barely touched in some cases, and it is expanding again? Tian Xia was inevitable I guess, but Planets as well? It's not the idea of exploring more that bothers me, it's the lack of attention this will invite. It has already been stated that the stable of manpower and talent is nearly over-used as it is, adding more to the plate must then logically lead to other things getting moved to the back-burner. I kind of like the idea of the Adventure Paths covering new territory ("countries") EVERY story arc. Each story could take place in a neighboring area, so that the stories could still have some cross-over ability.
First off, let me say that I have been on-board with the AP's since their inception. I was a big fan of the format in Dungeon, and when the chance came to switch the Pathfinder APs, I gladly converted my subscription dollars. I LIKE the APs. Overall, I enjoy reading and running them, and I am looking forward to many more. The O.P.'s point did remind me of the only...limitation(?) I can see. Multiple APs that cover ground or storylines, that my group is not interested in. So aside from mining it for good ideas to seed into other adventures I have had months go with no real workable AP to use. I know I am but one person, who represents just one group, I know this. I just wish there was a way to spread the love around if there happens to be a stretch of APs that do not pertain to me. I also purchase the modules, and at one time or another, I have subrscribed to every part of the Pathfinder line that exists. This should not be taken as a complaint, there is just soooo much to explore, and it seems as though there are times when they hit on things that do not always pertain to all groups, a more specialized...flavor(?) The Jade Regent and Skull & Shackles are two good examples. I like the Jade Regent as a read, and Skull & Shackles sounds like it will be pretty cool, I do not have the party interest in them, so will have a black hole in my game lists for a year straight. I guess this is just a long winded way to say, "I wish there were a profitable way to see more adventure (paths) set in a wider area of the world." Format change? Nah. I like the set-up, and various articles of interest, although the fiction is something I usually skip over to tell the truth.
Am I the only one who is being forced to cut back on what they can buy because of the speed everything is coming out at? I have a really good job, and I have no financial worries, so that is not the concern. It is literally the speed everything is coming out at. I have been forced to cut back on my subscriptions (I was subrscribed to everything Pathfinde related) because I cannot grab up everything at once, now I feel like I am missing out on products as they come out. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. I'm not angry or anything, more like frustrated. I have plenty of disposable gaming money. I just cannot fathom how much money would be needed to get everything with the pathfinder stamp on it. I know, I know. "You do not need to get everything just cause..."
Anyone agree? Disagree? Not care?
Are you really married to the idea of switching on and off as DMs? Cause your group sounds large F.H. and I thought maybe both DMing at the same time might be a fun exercise for you. I ask because my current gaming group runs from 8-12. We run with two DMs at the same time. Its a homebrew world of my own making and we switch off duties every game. One week I run flavor text and single NPC interaction, whilst he runs combat and combat friendly NPCs and we both interact with each other when there is a multiple NPC encounter. The next session we switch. This also allows for the group to split if they feel that hitting a story from different angles is important so that we each take a group and run at different parts of my game room. We have had some of the very best stories come from this style, as we are able to more freely interact and weave the story as we go since one single DM doesnt have the nightmare of coordinating such a huge group. To be precise most times the groups ARE split and moving at oppostie ends of a story to work them out. But your group sounds like it will be fine playing as one and working as one group, making the double DM gambit more plausible in my opinion. Somethin to chew on maybe...or not...your choice.
I am DMing the Savage Tide and we are coming up to the adventure where the Fleet is getting ready to attack Farshore. My issue seems to be with the mapping.
Nice little tidbit on the origins of the tribe that lived on the Isle of the Ape in issue #143.
Amusingly enough (to me at least), I run in a home-brewed world that I have been working on for more than 10 years (obviously multiple campaigns in the same world), and I recently incorporated the Isle of the Ape into my world's history and ran the module as a small part of a campaign from a little over a year ago.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here. But I found it passing amusing that you say that the farmboy destined for greatness is a tired plot, THEN uphold the virtue of Wheel of Time as an example of greatness...A series that turns a farmboy(shephard is close enough in my book) into a hero As well as a blacksmith, a horse trader's son, ann innkeeper's daughter, and a local herbalist into minor heroes, all from the same TINY village. While not technically farmers, it's just a matter of tiny nuance that seperates these young people from that stereotype.I just finished Eragon, and I did NOT like it. I have read both Wheel of Time and Amber and DID enjoy them. There are similarities in most fantasy though, you have to realize that. Granted, similarities are not the same thing as blatent rip-offs. One of the examples of this is when people duplicate something called the Monomyth (or mythic journey). The monomyth will kinda surprise you with how many people use the same structure, either by coincidence or by intent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monomyth Anyhow, thought I would throw in my 2 coppers. It takes much amusement to motivate me to actually post...now I must rest.
I also like the watermarks. Though it wouldn't hurt my feelings if they were softened a bit. Having them on the pages gives the overall feeling of the magazine a sense of depth, like there is even more there than just the written content. Almost like bonus artwork, adds a bit of the feel and flair to what you are reading. |
