Varya's probably a bit too difficult backstory wise to switch to an arcane caster or rogue, so I'd be ending up making a whole new character as well. I don't have any ideas stored up for that right now, so it's all yours unless you need to drop the campaign completely.
I had fun, good luck everyone!
It's true - a somewhat rebuilt Mikail might work because you don't both have a lot of the abilities that wouldn't stack. Maybe just invest in disable device and more stealthy things - but that might not fit the character I suppose.
Varya nods. "Well, just make it quick. We don't have too much time to spare in the day."
She looks towards the sky at the sun, hoping not to get lost in the endless jungles.
It's been rough for sure, never really picked back up the same way after we lost our 5th.
With two fighters already, I think I'm probably going to step out if Dragolan or Mikail want to rebuild. Hopefully I can catch another game with one of you when we have better luck.
Varya nods at the advice, trying to shift around the creature. "Just don't get bitten, I don't want any of you getting poisoned again!"
She lunges to swing low at the coiled snake.
Shortsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
"Watch out!" Varya yells suddenly, pushing Mikail back as the snake drops down towards him.
I am guessing I already have my shortsword out because I was hacking leaves, so I will just use that. If I am not close enough, then just use surprise action to put myself next to it.
Varya swings at the black snake with her grass-and-leaf stained shortsword.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
"Good idea, maybe we can follow these cliffs to the west, and see if there is an easier way up."
Varya takes the fine shortsword they had found in the wreckage from her belt, and frowning that she has to use such a well made weapon in this manner, cuts through the foliage and brush to forge a path.
Ah right, I forgot about multiple checks.
"Good question, what was he searching for that led him straight up a mountain?"
Varya inspects the cliffside, and replies "I could try, but I'm a much better swimmer than I am a climber."
I've got +2, so I could just go for it unless someone's actually trained in climbing.
"You're right, we should look for him. Can anyone follow tracks?"
Survival (Tracking): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
"We have wounded and sick here that we need to worry about."
Survival: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
HP +1 from resting, up to my maximum of 12.
Who did you give the potions to, Dragolan and Mikail?
Varya instinctively wipes her brow to wipe away sweat before realizing that it is just the air she is feeling.
"We need to find more food, we're running out quickly. And maybe one of you knows what kinds of herbs might be helpful? I don't know, we need to find something."
Food Tracker, Start of day 3 we have 15 left I think.
I think our plan, or at least what Varya will root for, is going in to the forest to search for food and a source of water.
Sense Motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Varya worries over Jask and Gelik, not noticing Aerys' stare.
A+, Varya
Varya wakes up feeling a bit less sore than the day before. +2 hp from resting, up to 11/12
She worries over the sick, and turns to Aerys. "It's going to be alright, just stay focused on how you can help - make sure they have enough of the purified water, and stay resting."
"Sasha! That's not helping!" she responds angrily.
She hurries to the others, and speaks to them in hushed, distressed tones, "Someone must know something about herbs, right? We need to find something to help them!"
Sorry I haven't been posting as often! Wayfinder is being trash and won't let my log in or post so I haven't been able to check as often.
Varya listens to Mikail's list and nods. That's about the same time I saw something last night. I wonder if it will happen again.
"Perhaps we should check the forest in the morning then - then we might even find some more food growing as well."
Inside the tent, Varya turns to Aerys.
"Do you have any idea what happened? Could it have been something they ate, or did they run into some poisonous creature like we just faced?"
Must be too hot out for magic hahaha
Varya nods, obviously disappointed that it was all for nothing.
"We can head back to camp and help out with looking for food, I don't think we're in shape for anything more risky."
Varya rushes to catch Okhosa before he falls, and helps him sit down against the mast of the shipwreck.
Wincing slightly at her own wound, she looks to her sickly looking companions
"You both look awful, but it looks like the worst has passed. Take a breather, we will return to camp soon. But I'm not going to let those bugs scare me off."
What does it look like around here? Sounded like it was partially flooded, so maybe we can just grab anything that's accessible and head back for a few days while you two recover.
Ahahaha woops. I guess I absentmindedly changed from the default alias.
Hammer: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (1, 5) + 7 = 13
Varya takes a swing at the remaining centipede to try to stop it before it can bite again.
Also, 5' shift towards flanking even if I cannot make it this round.
Current hp: 7
Fortitude: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Attack on Centipede 1: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (3, 3) + 7 = 13
Wincing from the pain of the centipede's bite, Varya heaves her hammer up to swing it down onto the centipede.
Varya draws her hammer as she moves towards the centipedes, next to Okhosa, and tries to draw their attention by yelling.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
"There won't be much else to see in the jungle except plants, but the ship may have some tools, even if they are rusted."
I'll try to get there. Is a swim check needed or anything?
No indication how long it will be, so I guess whenever plot needs a death or kidnapping to happen.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
During her guard shift Varya notices a strange shape in the night, and runs to the shore to investigate, but it's gone before she gets there.
In the morning she brings it up with her companions, with a troubled look on her face.
"I thought I saw some kind of figure near the shore, but before I could get there to investigate, it disappeared. Did anyone else see it?"
Cool! Added to the sheet
So how does traveling and camp work exactly? Do we go exploring one day, and if we want to move the camp there travel back with the rest of the camp?
I don't know how long my little excursion will take, so I haven't made a check yet. I think how survival/foraging works is you make the check while travelling over a distance, and it reduces your speed but you can find food. So we could all make our checks tomorrow while travelling I think? Correct me if I'm wrong, this campaign might use a different rule.
If I do have time when getting back to just search for food, here's my check
Survival for foraging: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18 resulting in 5 rations of food

Fortitude vs heat 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Fortitude vs heat 3: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

As far as what we have found, we have 24 rations (shipwreck storeroom), and by the end of the day that will be 14 rations. If anyone has rations that I missed, then we can add that. With Jask, we have unlimited water. We need 10 rations per day to survive indefinitely.
Can I leave the canvas, shovel and 100' of rope as part of the camp gear and just have it as part of the camp with NPCs instead of direct inventory? Knowing that I can only get them when we rest for the night.
Just updating my inventory: Grabbed masterwork shortsword from ship, leaving canvas, shovel, 100' rope with camp. Got 70g share of the ship's loot.
After catching up with Aerys, Varya tries to calm her down a bit.
"We need to work together right now. We were all dumped here together, and the others that traveled to the wreckage believe that the captain may have been the cause.
Please, just come back to the camp and we can explain what we found, and hopefully find a way off this island together."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Woop woop
Varya nods after hearing Jask's story.
"Then perhaps we have a destination to head towards while trying to find a way off the island. But we need to stick together, I am going to go try to calm Aerys down"
Varya heads into the undergrowth after Aerys.
Sorry if I've been posting slowly, I have been very distracted by end of school, starting my internship, and saying goodbye to friends that are moving away permanently.
I should be able to post more frequently once it calms down a little more.
Right, I grabbed the rope, a shovel and a canvas sheet. If no one else needs it, I will also grab that Masterwork Shortsword to have as a backup weapon.
In the captain's room I grabbed the holy symbol for Jask.
Before following her companions from the captain's quarters, Varya takes the Holy Symbol of Nethys. If we can get Jask unlocked, I'm sure he would want this back.
"So the only ones left are Ieana and Captain Kovack. One of them must have had something to do with the poisoning. Maybe Alton or Rambar got in the way and were killed..."
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Heal: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
"We should gather all these supplies and take them back to the beach. It looks like there's a rowboat down here, I'd like to come back after to bring Rambar and Alton's bodies back to bury them."
Can I by chance remember whether the captain wielded a rapier?
Also, who wants that masterwork dagger?
Is there any documentation explaining more about Jask or is it just a list of the items?
Varya grimaces at the sight of First Mate Alton, and says a quick prayer for him.
Her grip on her weapon tightens briefly in anger.
"Kovack, Ieana and Rambar are the only ones unaccounted for now. I have a feeling we've been involved in something more complicated than a shipwreck."
Varya sighs before continuing, "But that doesn't change our current situation, we still need those supplies. We can come back to give the first mate a proper burial when we get more situated."
Varya moves towards the door.
Going to grab the 150' rope, a shovel and one of the canvas sheets for +39lb, bringing me to medium encumbrance. We can cut up that rope later so I'm not permanently medium encumbrance.
A shovel is 8lb, a net is 5lb, grappling hook is 4lb, each oil is 1lb. Assuming the sheets are 1yd like in the rulebooks, they're 1lb.
I have 1 gold after all my equipment.
Yeah sorry I ended up ruining both times that buff would be useful, Okhosa.
Also, wanna thank DoctorEvil for being one of the most organized DM's I've played with.
Looking at the dented, splintered door, Varya decides it would be fastest to just continue breaking it down rather than hope for finding a crowbar or ram. There was a small chance that the source of the blood could still be alive after all.
"Stand back everyone."
Once everyone is clear, she hefts her hammer and swings it mightily against the center of the door.
I was just recently reading sunder/attacking object rules for another campaign, apparently you can just take a full round action to auto-melee an object.
Earthbreaker Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (5, 5) + 7 = 17
Haha if only I did that yesterday.
"Maybe there is a crowbar or something in the galley that we can use to pry the door open."
When it comes my turn again, I will move towards the scorpion and attack with my hammer.
Hammer attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Aww yeah
Confirm: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Aww no
Damage: 2d6 + 7 ⇒ (2, 5) + 7 = 14
Aww yeah
Varya swings mightily down at the scorpion.
He said sickened was gone, hp is probably still there, idk about poison.
Damn haha, 1 space too far to charge and attack.
"Watch out everyone, it's another one of those creatures!"
Varya draws her hammer as she moves towards the creature, readying herself for an attack.
Move 6 squares towards the sea scorpion, putting myself on the square to the left of 'A1'. Ready action to attack the scorpion if it moves next to me on its turn.
My attack would be 1d20+3, dealing 2d6+7
