Valiste stares at the 'Down for Maintenance' sign on the sim rooms. "Great, what am I supposed to do in the meantime?" his stomach growls "...Guess that answers my question, cafeteria it is, I just hope they have food left." He places his hand on the wall letting the arrows lead him to the cafeteria.
But who reads signs anyway?

Valiste touches the wall after making his way through the halls, half trying to find his way to the sim room, and half sure he didn't get lost on the way.

"Alright, I'll head to the sim room and have dinner afterwards, might give me idea's on how to use the flames I give off" he shrugs, "Thank you, both of you, I'll let you know if anything health-effecting comes up" he opens the door, waving before exiting the room.
"Yes, we're done. A full scan doesn't take long. Anymore. If you have any problems either Sorchan or myself will be happy to help," she says cheerfully. "Don't worry about the nanites still in you...they'll all come out into waste reclamation eventually." "Ok, oh, is there some place I can practice with the fire my blood gives off?" He steps off the platform, moving toward the door while he talks.
"Oh, that. It's midafternoon. Still some folks finishing lunch. Dinner won't be for a bit. Well, normally anyhow. But today is so disorganized with people coming and going that we've pretty much got mealtime going all day. If you want to find your room you can use the arrows on the wall to direct you to it. And I'm putting a note in your file that tells the infirmary staff to contact me if you end up with any major health issues since I think your unique issues will require a certain amount of special care." "Ok, I'll have to remember that. Are we done here then?"
"Well, I could program some nanites to provide essential a buffer in your nervous system to minimize the effects of the heart and potentially regulate the heartbeat to make it more regular. I think attempts to effect the heart itself would cause more harm than good at this point. This is an optional procedure I'm suggesting so feel free to take some time to think about it." "Alright, I'll think about it, but I don't know what to do in the mean time" He looks around for a moment. "...or know what time it is thanks to my detour here"
"Well, the blood burns hot, but that amulet should take care of that. The heart is a bit more concerning. It doesn't beat regularly at all and may be causing some other unwanted side effects. Corrective measures could be taken, but they are not without risks," she said analyzing the data in front of her. "It looks to me like you're otherwise healthy." "What corrective measures are we talking about here?" he asked.
Valiste waits patiently for the results.
"It's fine, though I am wondering about that ship now"
"Well, I have two things that need scanning, one of which the professor already helped with. A demon heart, and balor blood" Valiste said.
Valiste looks around the room after stepping inside, "Professor del Sol said you could help me with something that might concern my continued health if left unchecked"
"Nice to meet you, Valiste. Come on in...just don't touch anything. I have a lot of sensitive equipment in the lab." "O.k." He steps into the room.
"With great difficulty," he said dryly. Valiste looks at the door, "What else can you tell me about Professor Sunwake? Just in case."
"Hmm. After a fashion, I suppose. Although you do still have a heart in your body, though it is a bit irregular. Well, I suppose the necromancy teacher Professor Blackscales could shed some light on that. Er, the kobold, not the girl....you know the biggest problem with nepotism at this school is trying to keep track of who's who," he joked. "We have three Professor Sunwakes, two Professor Blackscales, two Professor del Sols....and it seems like half the staff is related to each other in some way...We're really going to have to work on how to differentiate people better." He shrugs, "I guess it works as long as it's not the original that get's placed back into the person's chest" Valiste tilts his head in confusion "How do you even get anything done during the day with most of the teachers having the same name?"
Valiste follows you through the hall's, explaining how the box he came to you with contained his actual heart, taken out with dark magics, making him a lich in a way as you both are waiting at the door.
"Well, by all means, then, let's keep your box safe." He opens one of the desk drawers. "You can put it in there. I have many levels of enchantments on this desk to keep students from interfering with its contents, so I'm confident that your box will not be disturbed while we're gone." Valiste picks up his box, placing it gently within the desk drawer "Again, thank you professor."
"That's probably best, let's just say my life depends on that status of that box" "Judging by this meeting, it probably will be professor"
"Then I would be glad to hear about it. But I'm afraid I still don't know your name. I'm feeling a bit foolish having to ask now, but the longer this goes on the more embarrassing it gets," he finished with a self-deprecating smile. Valiste chuckles a little "I suppose that would be embarrassing. Well Professor, my name is Valiste Morrette. Now, we can't keep a lady waiting can we?" he smiles, looking back at his obsidian box "That will be safe here won't it?"
He sputters in embarrassment "O-oh, sorry, I didn't know Professor Sunwake was a girl" he watches you take the amulet from the box and present it to him, taking it carefully "Thank you professor. If you want to know about the box, I can tell you on the way, that is actually something I am proud of" he places the amulet around his neck.
"Heavy problems," he said sympathetically."We can ask Professor Sunwake to do a scan of you if you would like, if you're concerned about your continued health. But first we'll take care of that fire problem," he said, as he laid a hand on Valiste's shoulder reassuring him. "It may not feel like it, but what happened wasn't your fault. And you're not the only student at this school whose abilities manifested in ways that were deadly to others. This is a safe place for all of you." "If it helps me understand and hopefully give me a little more control, he or she can scan me. Thank you professor" He realizes he's been holding his box under his arm the entire time, moving and setting it on a table so he doesn't damage it or its contents.
"That's alright. It's remarkably common around here. Many of our students have unusual gifts, often of the sort that cause them to be persecuted elsewhere. Take as much time as you need." Nods in response "Well, you see, a while back I had a friend. She was...what's the word?...eccentric in forbidden healing techniques as well as able to get her hands on certain questionable items. I asked her one day if I could have one of them, next thing I know, I wake up feeling different." He stops for a minute, looking at his hand before continuing "She put balor blood in me, but she added something else too, a demon's heart. I went outside, but I had no control over the flames and...I torched not only my friend's home...with her inside, but the entire town...those are my problems"
"Yes of course. If it's necessary to tell another teacher or staff member to help you I'd have to tell them, but I would get your permission first." "Alright" He start's hesitantly, "But it's going take a bit to explain it, I'm not very comfortable talking about my...uh...gifts"
"And what's the other problem? If it's something I can help with I will. Or I'll send you to whoever can help you with it." "This is in confidence?" He looks around nervously, his concentration slipping for a second as his eyes are covered with flames, shaking his head and concentrating again to keep the flames at bay.
"Not a problem. Would you mind letting me examine the problem. It will help me fine-tune the amulet for you. As I said, you can't hurt me with fire," he said, opening the locked classroom and gesturing for Valiste to follow him inside. He nods, heading inside the room "If that would help, it's one of two problems actually"
He sighs with relief "Yes, the problem is very urgent, I have to constantly control this fire or it may...well...turn anyone too close to ash, Thank you Professor"

"Yes, of course, what is it you need?" the young woman asked, her expression friendly and open. "Do you know where I can get a necklace of suppression around here? I...have a bit of a problem concerning fire control"
He notices them, "E-excuse me, miss, sir, I need some help if it's not too much to ask" He says, concentrating hard to keep the flames at bay as he does.
Valiste walks down the hall, looking for a teacher to ask for help while his right hand covers the flames in the palm of his left.
Valiste waits for the others to finish before starting, keeping his left hand tightly shut. "I'm a sorcerer, as well as a...a special type of mage, for the most part I specialize in evocation magic and I can shape them to fit the situation as well, I have been studying stealth but I'm only a beginner"
He walks inside, standing off to the side, his left hand clasped tightly shut. "Good morning headmaster, my name is Valiste Morrette"
"Your welcome"
"Headmaster's office is right in front of us, but you may need to knock hard to get his attention" Valiste says, not taking his eyes off the wisps of fire seeping through his fingers.
He smiles sheepishly "Um...funny story about that...ya' see I forgot I could teleport it to me. so I ran all over the academy for nothing"
He looks at you "Would if I could, but it's hard to maintain even this small, I'll keep it in check though" He clenches his fist around the flames, making them as small as he can manage.
Valiste leans on the wall nearby, concentrating on the ball of flames in the palm of his hand so it doesn't go out of control, waiting behind both of you
The student clings to the ceiling, searching the floor for his box as he looks at the both of you "Hey, have either of you seen an obsidian box? I've been looking for it all day"
"Has anybody seen a black box! Seriously, this is very important!" one of the students runs through the hall shouting.

What would you suggest to stop the transformation midway? Taking out the heart would stop it midway in my mind |
