It was meant to be :) and hi there, Yorick!

About the rest of the original players, you may consider sending a PM if you'd like to check for their presence: I only stumbled through Recruitment by chance, and others may not be checking these boards, especially since we don't get reminders in the My Campaigns page for inactive ones.

I'm still around: I don't know whether I'd like to keep Vadi as-is or rebuild her into something different, but I've been missing this game.

It was not a failure! It was lots of fun while it lasted, and there is no shame in admitting that Real Life comes first: the CR of real endeavours is far beyond any that can be found in Pathfinder.
So go forth and face the dangers of the new job as bravely as you would face any foe in PnP. Your duties to yourself trumps any obligations you may feel towards us.
And before we discuss what to make of this, allow me to reiterate that you are not at fault here. Nobody is, it's just the way things are.

Somewhat uncharacteristically, Vadi passes time in her bunk, meditating cross-legged. Since she realized her connection to the Force, she had grown increasingly reliant on it, something she felt ambivalent about. It was a wonderful feeling and a wonderful tool, but in her previous life she had learned that anything could be lost at a moment's notice.
Still, the fight had been exhilarating. She hadn't needed to fire a single shot, turning the foes one against another, and the feeling of power she had felt was unlike anything else.

Not now. I am not yet strong enough. But soon I will return to Nar Shaddaa as myself, rather than under a fake name, and set things straight with the Exchange. I will be strong and powerful, I will win and break the chains of my past. The Force shall set me free.

I don't remember if vibroblades were ever finalized, here are some weapon stats. If you don't want something with reach, maybe a Gamorrean War Axe could work?

Another of the characters in play here! I am an Eliciter, which is to say I twist minds, from charming Jedi Mind Tricks to fear and insanity. Mostly I'll act as buffer/debuffer.

Doomed Hero, the PF Kineticist is on its own set of rules and I don't know how much GM Terrigan would like to mix it, but a Symbiat or a Telekinesis-focused Incanter can do lovely things with that sphere (with TK and Mind, one has to wonder if it was specifically built to make Jedis). And if you want to mix it with Spheres of Might you can do the Vector.

"Uhm, not really." says Vadi, trying to sense who is onboard. "I can somehow feel the minds of those near me, but I'm not yet good enough with the Force to feel others. Let's see what Le's up to and hope we weren't properly boarded."
As the passenger entrance is closed, Vadi moves towards Le's cabin, leaning against the door to hear what's going on inside.

I'm alive! Technology rebelled against me but I'm here. I'll be full operative starting August 15 when I settle, but I'll do my best to update semi-regularly.

About the game: currently Vadi's priority is to avoid being wasted by the bounty hunters: therefore, playing it a bit safer than useful. Should that situation resolve, her primary motivator is greed, looking for a payday. Secondarily, learning to master the Force.

In my experience, sandboxes are incredibly hard to run in PbP anyway, also because we for get about Chekov Guns and loose threads as the posts increase in number. Some railroading is not always bad, to keep us in check.

Her words, however, fail to convince even her. She takes out the blaster and concentrates on the Force. "There could be unwanted guests. I suggest we carefully check the cabin."

"You read my mind. I don't know which end of a hydrospanner to use, but I don't trust the local areas either. I'd rather run with you."

Bluff: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Vadi assumes a professional, almost haughty expression, fit for the representative of an import-export society, reciprocating the bow at a slighty more obtuse angle. "Meda Calanir, Detachment Chief Communication Executive and General Liaison for External Services. Me, my associates and this brick with propellers is scheduled for pickup of a cargo, the specifics of which should have already been sent to you. Assuming that the information got lost in bureaucracy as it often happens, here is a copy of the protocols."
She conjures up the information on her data-pad and projects them for Ossifson to see.
"Now if you'll have the cargo delivered in the shortest possible time, I'll happily leave the premises so that you don't have to sign for even more overtime."

Vadi sticks one of the ship's Medpacs at her waist, then double-checks all of her hidden weaponry. As the ship moves towards Manaan, her focus in on the simple rbreathing exercises that Hayden taught her, and trying to feel her surroundings with the Force.
If her perception was still severely impaired, she had managed to single out minds, faint but distinct as stars in a clean sky, not that a clear sky was ever visible from Nar Shaddaa. And the feeling was incredible.

<Cruiser Austerity, acknowledging your message. Please stand by for data transmission.>

For a moment, a vivid memory plays in Vadi's mind. The slimy tentacles of a lecherous Quarren, the glimmer of a knife, Horeadash's look of surprise as he fell. Did the Force assist me in that? How much did I change already, then?
She holsters the blaster, still stunned but more collected now.
"I see. I'm sorry for doing what I did, and I will do my best to control myself. And thank you for your teachings."

And at last, the question that had been running in her mind pops out. "Does it mean I'll learn to use a lightsaber?"
There was no child in the galaxy who hadn't dreamt of the legendary Jedi weapon, against which there was no defense. Surely it could dissuade any bounty hunter on her path.

Vadi's face is a mixture of terrified and shocked as her hand relaxes, pointing the blaster downwards. "Wait, what? But- but I can't be using the Force! I'd need to be some sort of Jedi, wouldn't I? I've grown up alone, never left Nar Shaddaa before, nobody taught me anything like that! I flatter, I bluff, but I never manipulated a mind... not consciously, at least. And- and isn't the Force about moving things and choking people? I never did something like that!"

She is a prime opportunity to have a Padawan if anyone wants to.

Surprised but not unprepared, Vadi produces her blaster as Le approaches her. "Being threatened is not something I take kindly to." she growls. Alright, so:
1) I agree with you. It was more of a SoP/gameplay related issue, where Verbal Casting means you can't cast stealthily, while Somatic means you can't use heavy armor, but only Magical Signs alerts people that you are using magic. However, if anyone watching who is trained knows it, no problem for me. I wanted to clear away the doubts.
2) Vadi doesn't know she's using the Force. She's currently a two-trick pony, and has been going on those tricks instinctively.
3) I definitely don't want to use mind-control on PCs any more than I want to bluff, lie, steal and deceive. As Le is an NPC now, and a creepy one for that matters, I thought it could be appropriate anyway, and fit to what she would do.
4) As for sneaking casting, perhaps the possibility to Bluff to hide a Force power could be a feat?

"Hold on a second, Le, how did you know precisely? I didn't have an inkling and I'm usually good at reading people. How did you know he was a Jedi?"
With the last phrase, Vadi focuses deeply on the Zabrak, unconsciously reaching out to him with her mind towards his. It was a sort of trance, and she had found out that people were far more pliable when she was in this state.

Greater Charm: Enthrall. Will DC 15 or his attitude shifts to friendly for a minute. I have Somatic Casting and Verbal Casting, but not Magical Signs, so I'm not sure whether it's clear that she is using the Force.

Bluff to hide info about the bounty? No problem, I'm coming clean. And I auto-beat a 9.

"Alright everyone, we are tense and we are surprised, but let's take a breath and focus, yes? Unless I'm mistaken, we all got into this of our own accord, moved by whatever necessity moves everyone in this galaxy. Hayden didn't exactly keep this information to himself, did he?And a former Jedi could be helpful as ****, especially if he's as rational as he's been until now. Unless he's a Dark one. Are you?"
"Anyway, in order to avoid further tension, I believe you should know that when I joked about a bounty on my head, I wasn't joking. It's... conspicuous. There may be bounty hunters coming for me."

Jedis protect the innocent from this sort of things, right? I only remember from tales...

Damn damn damn last time one of them was on Nar Shaddaa he killed half the local Exchange personnel, the power vacuum was devastating! What is he planning to do here?

"I'm mainly good with people." says Vadi with a smile. "I'm a good diplomat and a better liar, and I can generally convince people to do what I want. Also I play a good pazaak hand. I'm not too shabby in a fight, but that's not my forte, I prefer avoiding them."

"Well, good luck on getting people to stop stabbing themselves in the back long enough to actually do something. How long did it take until Czerka Corporation got their grubby hands on the project? They should call it the Telos Embezzling and Money Laundering project, I tell you what. It's bound to happen with every large project in the Outer Rim, at least unless the Republic somehow tightens its grip and wipes out the Exchange, the corrupt companies, and every kind of mafia these worlds have to offer. Which, needless to say, is impossible, because no government that large can keep track of its frontier territories. They just collapse."

Vadi decides to keep her bounty a secret for the moment. Unlikely as it is that anyone on the Spice Rush would want to bring her back to Nar Shaddaa, the sum is hardly negligible. "Charming woman. By the way, what's the deal with Telos? I know, war-scorched and all, but there's a frickload of other planets to settle that aren't such a huge money sink, are they?"

Turning green from azure as a wave of space nausea overtakes her at the deceleration, Vadi crawls to the cockpit from the chair she'd fallen asleep in. "Oh, is there a bounty on my head? Could be inconvenient if so. Oooh, maybe there's a price on everyone's head? Want to bet whose is greater? Fifteen credits say it's Zev's."

Having finished her chores for the tim being, Vadi sits in the common area, playing a few hands of pazaak against herself while discreetly eavesdropping on Kreshell's flirting attempt, not without a hint of jealousy. She's used at being the first one to be noticed and hit on.
Must be the clothes. I bought these rags in order not to be noticed, I can't complain if they work.

Thank you, and I'm watching for any conversation I can add to. It was just to warn you in case I seem absent.

As everyone is doing their best to optimize the tough little ship, Vadi finds herself at a loss, never having been on a spacefaring vesel earlier. The time she isn't fighting motion sickness, she starts organizing the medbay, then cleaning and neating up every surface she can find until they're polished enough to act like makeshift mirrors.

If I post sporadically for this part, it's because, well, I have no technical skills. But rest assured I'm present and reading.

Strength (aid another): 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7

Brute force was never Vadi's MO. Her feet skid on the floor and she falls flat on her face when she tries to push the workbench. Pulling proves not better, as she can't even assist in lifting the heavy furniture.

"And I thought I had a hard life."
Vadi chased away a thought of the consequences of her job in Nar Shaddaa. Sure, she handled things non-violently. But did she really not know what the last resort was? How many of those she had "kindly reminded" of their debts were still alive to tell the tale?
"Negotiation is my specialty, though."

Knowledge(local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26 What do I know of those two races?
