Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel drew his axe and nodded. He could probably take down the boards themselves, but that would only lead to everything crashing on them.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

I returned as well, had to cope with illness after returning from the festival (sleep deprivation and bad weather do that, I should know better by now)

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Sorry for the delay, my life has been a bit of a mess the last few days.

I'm afraid my absence will last a bit longer as well since I'll be off from today till Monday as well.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"It's a shame, but we were left no choice." Uriel states while he cleans the blade of his axe with a rag.

When Lantana asks for healing he slings the axe over his back and walks over, "I'm not sure how much I can do, but this will take the dge off at least." With that he places a hand on her brow and shortly after divine energy flows from his hand. Once he is done he removes his hand and kisses the holy symbol he held in the other hand.

Use Lay on Hands on Lantana, 2/4 used.
Healing: 1d6 ⇒ 3

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

With little else to worry about Uriel turned to the last remaining skeleton, a look of grim necessity on his face. Without much further ado he got himself within reach and swung his axe.

Move: If needed, move within range of the last remaining skeleton
Standard: Attack the skeleton using power attack
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 Damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Oh well, I guess my lucky streak has to end somewhere. Add a +2 if I just happen to flank though, that might do it :P

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Undead? These goons were more than just street thugs to have access to such abominations, or at least were backed by someone much stronger.

Seeing his ally surrounded by the monstrosities he quickly decides to move in behind them before swinging his axe. Speaking to these things was pointless and redemption wasn't an option so he simple struck.

Move: To the skeletons surrounding Lantana
Standard Attack, using power attack and assuming I flank
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22 Damage: 1d12 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Sorry about the delay. Finally had a day that wasn't ridiculously hot yesterday so I used it to get all kinds of stuff done.

"You have had your chance, now it's time to pay the price." Uriel still stares at the man before him. The boy that just stabbed him. He was going to die, a life cut short due to it's own stupidity. A shame.

With as much force as he could muster Uriel struck again, this time putting his weight into it.

Standard: Attacking with Power Attack
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 3d12 + 21 ⇒ (8, 3, 3) + 21 = 35

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"Gods have mercy on their souls, they are ignorant." With that Uriel draws his his axe, but before he swings the arm where he had been cut glows with a pure white light, sealing the wound.

Once his wound has been sealed he turns around, facing the boy behind him, "May you rest quietly." He says before swinging his axe with measured force.

Move: Draw Great Axe
Swift: Lay on Hands for 5 HP on self
Standard: Attacking the ambusher behind him.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 Damage: 1d12 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel eyes the tiefling up and down, "You think you can do the drawing anyway? That way I can spread it in my area so I can keep women save. I can't really bring this thing here." Besides that he'd simply rather not bring magic there, not of the wizardly kind anyway.

"What can you tell us about miss Imoroa herself? Anything. Mannerisms, habits, quirks, how those changed after he came into the picture."

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel shakes the man's hand when he reaches out, "Uriel Felar, servant of the Empyreal Lords." Introducing himself that way was strange to him but he figured he'd follow Percival's example.

The mentioning of a Tiefling or possibly something with a stronger tie to the hells was intriguing. Many of them ended up following the taint in their blood, though luckily some turned away from it.

Uriel simply nodded when the man asked permission to use magic and took a step back.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel just nods at Percy. The man was right but he didn't ant to talk about it all in front of girl. "Could you send in the next one, your stage magician if you please." The director had said the man might know more.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"Don't worry, you are being very helpful." It sounded like she had been charmed, one way or another. [b]"Did anything else happen around the same time? Not just with miss Imoroa but with the theatre or in this area? Anything out of the ordinary? Doesn't mature how small or insignificant, it could be useful."

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"Yes I did. Please, take a seat." He motioned to the nearest stool or chair. "The director told me miss Imoroa took the role that was originally intended for you and, now she is gone, you have the role again. As you understand, that makes you a suspect." He said it rather matter-of-factly. He didn't ask her anything, simply waited for her to protest.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"Ok, thank you very much, I think that is all for now. Thanks again for your cooperation. Would you be so kind as to send Elanna in next?" She was the most likely suspect, the only one who, as far as he knew, stood to gain something from Iszanna's disappearance.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel nodded as the director spoke, [b]"Do you know if anyone here bears miss Imoroa any ill will? Anyone more involved with her than the others? Anything else you can tell?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24

While speaking Uriel makes a mental note to bring in the girl next, she could have an interested in the girl's disappearance, though he had no idea how she'd link to the others.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel grins and shakes his head as the man bends his words from fair to gentle. He follows the man to the dressing room. "Could you tell me all you know of miss Imoroa's actions and whereabouts on the day she disappeared? Did she behave like normal or?"

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"My name is Uriel Felar. We have come here as we have some clues that suggest miss Imoroa's disappearance might be related to other disappearances in the area." He smiles as Lantana moves off to secure the stage hand, he had missed the fellow.

"Is there a room where we could talk to you all separately?" He motions for Percival, "We need to make sure we know every detail in order to have the highest chance of success. We'd like to start with you sir, if you please." He turns to the director as he speaks. The man seemed very much in charge and could be offended if he wasn't questioned first, something he'd rather avoid.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Knowledge (Local) 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Uriel looks at the play thinking he should know what was being depicted but unable to make any sense of it at all. Instead he steps forward to the small man and the woman who seem to discussing her lacking performance. The man must be the director and as such the best point to start.

DM:
Using Sense Motive to get a bearing of both their general moods and tempers.

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
I guess that means I find nothing. I hope I manage to roll above 10 at some point

"May I interrupt for a moment?" He waited for both the man and the girl to look at him before proceeding,"Good day, both of you. Me and my colleagues here were hired to investigate the disappearance of miss Imoroa, who I think is supposed to play the role you do now." He nods at the young woman, "We would like to know whatever it is you and your crew can tell us as to her normal whereabouts and behaviour."

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"It's still some time before we get any results from their forays, so yes, lets." Uriel nodded at Lantana and waited for her at the door, "Ladies first."

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

DM, I hope you're ok with me narrating part of the trip.

Uriel guides himself and Percival towards his home area, leaving the shingles behind but the state of the area doesn't improve much. As they move into to his home the streets get busier though everyone they meet greets Uriel and gives Percy a curious look. Suddenly a woman in her late thirties speaks up, while hanging over the railing of a balcony above them, "Ey Uri. Who is that gorgeous redhead behind you? He here for some sugar?" Uriel looked up at her and smiled, "No, not now aunty. He's here on business." He waved at her before moving on and she waved back, still making non-verbal passes at Percival.

While she was the first to call them out she sure wasn't the last as while walking on to their destination several more "aunties" called them out.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Lanny, you know you posted in the discussion, right? :P

And that's good, means my IC post about the 5 minute walk was correct.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Hmm, now I said IC that it's a 5 minute walk, but Wavestreet is a very long street. Where on it are we actually? (I just assumed the part near the Old Docks, but that's because I missed it extended way beyond there.)

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"If you are willing to wait here for a moment I can go and give the order. My district is only a five minute walk north from here. You are welcome to come along as well, of course, but I'd ask you to keep quiet about our business. I trust my friends there with my life, but there are some less savory elements around as well." He looked at each of them in turn. Many people would not want to be found dead in the area he lived, and if it was up to him none would be.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"Like I said, the one in the Shingles isn't a problem. I can send some of the urchins to ask around. Even if they don't find out exactly what happened they should be able to narrow things down for us while we look at the other places." Either they were hard of hearing or they ignored him. Both would make any further investigation increasingly difficult.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

"I've got the Shingles covered, I'll get some of the youngsters to ask around, they shouldn't draw any attention. They tend to be quite good at these sorts of things as well." For a short moment he glowed with pride as if it were his own children he was talking about.

He looks at the map again before pointing at the easternmost cross, "What's with that one? That's pretty close to home for me."

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

"So why does this actress draw the attention of the guard? The fact that she was reported can't be enough, especially among the buffoons that run the guard in this district." Almost every single guard he had met had been incapable of performing his job correctly, either through greed or through sheer stupidity.

"I'm in, if only to figure out what is happening and to put a halt to it." The money was insignificant. At least twice that amount exchanged hands in his area on a daily basis. The problem was what it was spent on.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel arched an eyebrow when the older woman commented she received an invitation as well. T'was odd that someone that age would be involved, but maybe she had her contacts. Or maybe she was a mage of some sort, age mattered little if you dealt in magic.

"Indeed, chances are she is someone's illegitimate daughter or mistress. Doesn't change the situation though." He started pacing around. Now there were six people here waiting on some guardsman. Six people who by all means should be strangers, the fact that some knew each other mattered little, who were all gathered for one goal. Odd.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel smiled as he saw the imprint of the vanished piece of gold, hopefully whoever took it used it to feed his or her family, not on some illicit goods or activities.

It was odd, being requested by the guards to lend a hand. He wondered who's illegitimate daughter the girl was if they were willing to hire others outside the guard. She could also be someone's mistress, that would explain the reason for hiring outside forces. What ever it be, he hoped the girl was safe as that was the sole reason he was doing this this.

On the appointed day he instructed his two lieutenants to keep things afloat in his absence and then went on his way. Hopefully things worked out and Gala (one of the lieutenants, a Half Orc woman) wouldn't be distracted by her deadbeat husband and his shenanigans. It was surprising she hadn't kicked him to the curb, but that was spomething for later.

Uriel looked up into the sky as he head for the Shingles. It was always hard to decide whether this area was better or worse than his part of town. On the one hand there was less crime here but on the other hand supernatural dangers were far more abundant here.

When he arrives at the house he draws the axe before entering. Noises could be heard from inside and one never knew what kind of squatters lived in a house like this but the threat of violence was often more than enough. Inside however he finds faces that don't fit squatters, well except for the woman. One of them seems slightly familiar though. He puts away his axe as he starts to talk, "Good day all. It seems the guard has fallen on hard times, calling together a group of strangers. Well, almost strangers, you're from the temple of Shelyn aren't you? I think we spoke before." He looks at Percivel as he speaks before suddenly realising something.

He turns to the woman in simple gown, "Excuse me ma'am, but we aren't invading in your home, are we?"

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Uriel is done as well, though there still is room and money for some improvement on the equipment front.

He even brings his own guard dog, trained by the fellow who I'd like to be his squire when Uriel reaches 3rd level. The dog won't come along on trips though.

Beyond that, he has Craft (Alchemy), in order to make all sorts of poultices and the such to help out in his neighbourhood (Antiplague is a welcome commodity).
He also still carries the blade that features in his background, made it a Cutlass as that comes closest though it actually is one of those large butcher's knives (too big to be a dagger, only one side sharpened).
Only thing I haven't decided on is whether to grab a shield. His main weapon is a Greataxe, the preferred weapon of one of his patrons, but a shield would be nice back up, I just don't see him using it.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

@Raikdar: Uriel could have helped him, but it's not like he goes out of his way to do such things. Normally his nights are spent guarding his home district.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

Comment on bonus:
Wow, great stuff.

The only comment from me is that Uriel does not only protect the female prostitutes, also the male ones, there are just less of them.
Not a request to change the bonus, just a clarification.

Sheet isn't done yet for me. Settled on the framework skill wise but am not 100% sure on the rest, nor whether I need a 5th skill rank per level and want to trade in Skilled for either Heart of the Streets or Silver Tongues. Also not settled on the 2nd feat, but will likely go for the default one in the form of Power Attack.

Gear should be done easily, I just have to figure out which pieces I want masterwork and how heavy I want my armor at the start.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

@Percy: Uriel tends to stay away from criminals that do not threaten his own neighbourhood but he has several youngster who help him and roam around town and he could have found out where your artist was being held prisoner. If requested he would have lend a hand in freeing him/her as well.

@Hania: Uriel might end up a bit at odds with Hania as he still has the idea of joining the Hellknights. The main reason he hasn't yet is that it would take him away from his current job, which he deems more important.
On the other hand though, her investigations could help him trace down his father, who is a Hellknight, a paralictor(officer) to be precise. At the start of the game he doesn't know yet though, he just knows his father was in law enforcement.

@Lantana & Percy: Where in Korvosa is the Temple of Shelyn situated? The faith would be a natural fit for a friendly relationship with Uriel and the small group of cultists of Empyreal Lords that live in the red light district where he lives.

And don't be afraid Uriel will join your band, he isn't much of a musician.

Male Human Paladin (Hospitaler) 2

1d10 ⇒ 10

Now that's a sweet roll.

Uriel checking in. Not completely happy with the picture yet, so that might change.

Uriel isn't your standard paladin, if that wasn't obvious considering his current occupation.

As for knowing others, anyone who has had dealing in Old Korvosa, especially the Old Docks part, could know him or at least heard of what some call the 'Whore's son militia'

EDIT: Oh, and I'm quite the skill monkey for a Paladin, something which might increase even more as I'm thinking of eventually grabbing 2 levels of Rogue with the Investigator archetype (assuming things develop that way) as that basically nets me what I want from the Sleepless Detective PrC without having to take Alertness.

I'm really looking forward to it.

Personally I'm more than fine with levelling by achievment, one less thing to keep track of.

In addition I'm looking forward to finding some harpies as the way I see it they are the other side of the same coin Sylph's are on.
A sphinx could also be fun, especially one with a more philosophical bent rather than plain puzzles.

In regards to Teamwork feats: If I decide on the Animal Companion (and get in) I'll be bumping his Int the first chance I get and he'll also be grabbing Teamwork feats.

I also have some crunch up, feats and equipment still need to be done though.

Not quite sure, Liberation domain is also very tempting as I don't need the Roc to fly and there is no bird in sight during the RP.

I'm going to change Zephros from Alchemist (Grenadier) to Druid (Sky Druid) as I think it would be a much better fit for a philosopher. Because of the little RP here I think it could be a lot of fun to play him more focused on that.

Zephros cocks an eyebrow at the youth before turning to Aurora, "We are supposed to win with this on our side? Our prospects are looking dire indeed. Can't we just feed him to the demons? Might buy the rest of us the time to escape." He grins slyly at Ali.

"Yes and my name, Zephros, indicates I'm a son of the West Wind, the harbinger of spring and, as such, of new life. In fact, I can probably tie my heritage to him. Now will we stand here comparing how significant the names our parents gave us at birth are, in an era when the current situation was unthinkable, or will we get a move on?" Zephros smirked. The brat liked to play words it had seemed, so why not. The circumstances were dreary enough without some humor.

Yes his mood is fickle, it turns like the wind.

"I just might, I know the winds very well. The winds of fate not so much, sadly." Zephros smiles and as he does a breeze seems blow around him while the rest of the room remains untouched. "Rest assured that should the need to chase wind arise I'd be at the forefront, sharing my expertise."

Cuàn here. Guy in the picture is a bit too old but the only one I could find that fits the style and matches in hair color.

"Oh but the people are very good at depressing themselves, they do not need me for that." He turns to the priestess, "I choose life, as far as that is a choice. Maybe we'll see you right in the end. I doubt it though." He ignores the devout pipsqueak. The naivety of youth. Not that he was that old, at least not by his own measures.

Actually, the picture probably accurately reflects his age if he had been human instead of Sylph
