Nor any specific skill ranks and, damn, not even Performance at all. Just this: CRB wrote: "Every bard spell has a verbal component (song, recitation, or music)." So I guess I can just... recite? Use Performance: Oratory as long as I have some ranks? I don't know. I'm just going to assume you have to use a Verbal component. There's even more weirdness when you think about the Chronicler of Worlds. His star ability is Linguistics, but he still has to have a Performance and we don't know that he can handwave the Verbal component requirement anyway, so I can't help thinking of Tolkien doing the Conga.

Not the best of frontline fighters, but most fierce warriors he's fought with have shaked hands with him after combat, appreciating his contribution. He tightens his cloak so that it covers the shine of his mithral armor - they don't want to be detected... yet. Thinking about that, he makes sure his horn is well tied to his back and asks his companions "Eh... how sneaky do we wanna be in this fight? I wanna be sure we're playing the no-horn kind of sneakyness." No buffs, since I think Bards need to play their instruments to cast spells and we don't really want that now :P If, on the other hand, casting a spell without blowing the horn is allowed, then he'll cast Heroism.

However, sleep caught me while in the middle of all this research :( So I'll make the changes today, put the lines for quick reference and jump in. Thank you for your patience, folks! Edit: I'm making these changes with the idea of retraining Incredible Healer to Skill Unlock later on (by level 10). Is grabbing a cure spell at your next Bard level an alternative? Well, I could do that if you prefer. I have to say, however, that picking a cure spell at these lower levels is usually meh at the beginning and totally terrible at the end because of the lack of scaling. The other option has a steep cost but will be better when we reach the high game (even better if retraining is allowed and I can pick Heal skill unlock). Also, my idea of the Bard is giving support, so I wouldn't mind. What I would do is remove Dazzling Display (and leave it for the 7th level choice), then pick Heal instead of Intimidate for Scrivener's Versatility choice (and pick Intimidate at 6th level). If you rather have me cast a spell, I can remove Mirror Image, for example, and pick it later on. That would mean a 2d8+5 cure thrice per day if I don't cast any other spell of that level.
