I had trouble finding your class on AoN. Is this your class? I know names can be different depending on which website you use.
Magus Jistkan Artificer
Resist Energy would be enough to resist the damage from chill/heat metal. The hard part is guessing which energy type to use before battle. In battle, you would have time to figure it out and cast the right version, but doing that means your caster is not attacking the enemy when protecting you.
Since you mention that your rivals use chill/heat metal, those are second level spells, so you and they are probably at least 3rd or 4th level characters. This probably means a single character has a net worth of 6000 gp. Not good if you want magic items.
A ring of lesser energy resistance is 12000 gp and will protect you from 10 damage of what ever energy type it is set to. Again, you have to pick energy type and hope you choose right. If your rivals find out you have such a ring, they could counter by changing which energy type they use.
Can you make your golem arms out of some other material? Perhaps wood? Though that means your arms could be subject to warp wood (also a 2nd level druid spell), thus ruining them. You would need a friendly druid to undo the warping.
Artificer? Isn't that PAthfinder 2E? We are playing 1E. An i did misslabel my class. I am an GolemFIST Magus: https://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/base-classes/magus/archetypes/paizo-magus- archetypes/golemfist-magus-archetype/
No i cant make them out of wood. Technically they count in most ways as heavy maces which count as unarmed attacks. So i have to make them out of things you could make a heavy mace out of. Party level is 4 right now. And i wear leather armor so my arms are the only significant thing they can target. But i figure having an item with negates a specific spell has to be cheaper than a blanket energy resist.
Hey guys, so im playing a GolemArm Magus, which means i'm basically a cyborg with a pair of metal prosthetic arms. And my arms count as part of my body AND targetable weapons (yes I've had an arm Sundered once). Because it isn't stated in the Rules the GM decided it takes 5 minutes to remove an arm and 5 minutes to attach an arm. (I have multiple arms made of different special materials and he doesn't want me switching mid battle). So i cant just drop my weapon whenever i want to since my weapon is my golem arms.
Anyway we have some persistent rivals who keep hitting me with Heat Metal and Chill Metal spells and i cant drop my arm/weapon to negate the damage.
So I want a ring that grants immunity or resistance to those 2 spells specifically since blanket Cold and Fire resistance is too expensive right now. Does anyone know what the market price for such a ring would be?

Thanks for all the help guys! I didn't know about Magic Aura but that is exactly what i needed.
Quixote
I chose Flaming because that seems like the kind of flashy enchantment a HERO would have. I'm staying away from holy since any dark priest or demon would know it wasn't the second they touched it.
And our GM likes to throw us against mastermind type Big Bads with big spy networks, so I'm trying to fool very perceptive enemies who often analyze us with magic before we fight them. If we get captured or have to infiltrate a palace I want to appear harmless when they take my Mighty Sword from me, when I can actually punch their heads off. So I want to go the extra step beyond just Bluffing that my tin sword is actually Excalibur.
Plus I want an actual glowy shining sword to wave around when I am trying to rally the masses against the dark overlord.
Hey guys, I want to make/buy a fake high grade magic sword.
See my character wants people to think he is a stereotypical sword swinging hero when he actually kills people with his fists. So to aid my Bluffs about being the Hero of Justice! I want a fake magic sword for him to wave around in front of people.
Basically I want a sword that, when targeted by Identify or is Appraised, appears to be a +5 Flame Bursting Longsword, but if you actually fight with it is just a normal masterwork sword.
Anyone have an idea what such a thing would cost or how i would go about making one?

It was a magic crossbow bolt that could be fired from any crossbow, then stick to whatever it his, it also trailed a weightless ghostly chain behind it and on command it would winch itself back it, pulling you to the impact point like Batman's grappel gun.
What was this called and where can i find it? Caver's Bolt. thankyou so much

Hello Denizens of the Internet.
So i am joining a new pathfinder game and i want to play a winged assimar fighter, a real avenging angel type. I have the build all planned out but my chosen weapon is a greatsword. And i just cant suspend my disbeleaf about slinging 5 ft of steel on my back with those wings in the way.
so my question is: how much would a magical sheath cost with that reduced the length of my greatsword from a 2-handed weapon to a 1-handed weapon or a light weapon while sheathed?
Im thinking it would have a small portable hole at the bottom or something.
Or is there an item that can do this already?
thanks for your help.

Wonderstell wrote: Truedragon wrote: Wonderstell wrote: Check out the Shadowshooting special ability.
Thanks but that doesn't do what i need. Its basically a cheaper version of Endless Ammo. You would still need 2 hands to operate a +1 Shadowshooting Light Crossbow, it would just never run out of shots. Nah, you wouldn't need two hands. You can shoot a light crossbow with one hand, at a -2 penalty.
If you want to avoid the -2 penalty, you could try two Shadowshooting Hand Crossbows, or one Shadowshooting Wrist Launcher (coupled with any other x-bow).

(You know, if you could apply a +1 effect without the obligatory +1 bonus. Pedantry and all that.)
My guideline with developing unique magic weapons is that actual +X bonus effects should feel special and cool. A self-cocking effect is certainly useful, but doesn't feel special or cool enough to warrant the +1 bonus. YMMV, of course.
This sounds more than fair, thanks.
Anybody disagree? Honestly, this should already be a function of the Repeating Crossbow, so I see no problem with it being cheap. No, you can fire a repeating crossbow one-handed ONCE, then you need to you your other hand to chamber the next round. Like the core-book description says:
"You can fire a repeating crossbow with one hand or fire a
repeating crossbow in each hand in the same manner as you
would a normal crossbow of the same size. However, you must
fire the weapon with TWO HANDS in order to use the RELOADING
LEVER, and you must use two hands to load a new case of bolts."
Its just like using a pepperbox pistol, but not like a revolver. The shadow ammo does not cock the weapon for you, that why im homebrewing this and asking for pricing advice.
Im not saying Shadowshooting or Endless Ammo wouldn't be useful as additional enchantments later, but as i want to use this magic weapon with a tower shield i need the feature i described when i started this.

Hey guys i need help pricing a unique magical repeating crossbow with the following description and abilities:
Shield-Waller's Friend
:This +1 Light Repeating Crossbow has been slightly animated. While it isn't at all self mobile or capable of independent action it can cock itself automatically, immediately readying the next shot. This allows the user to fire and cock the weapon normally in one hand without the need of his other hand so long as there are bolts in the magazine, which must still be loaded manually:
So thats it. Not very complicated but aside from the base +1 light repeating crossbow price of 2,550, i have no idea what this weapon would be worth. So can you guys help me out?
I am aware of Sunsilver, but you still lose damage with slashing weapons.
Come on guys, anyone got some feedback on my Jade idea? Cost? Feasibility? Theme appropriateness? Anything?
But my character uses axes, like exclusively. War axe and throwing axes mostly.
My GM likes the idea of Jade, but im not sure how much it would cost.
Silversheen costs 750 but i would think Jade would be cheaper.
Hey guys. So my group is playing an mixed eastern themed campaign and were fighting alot of demons. So i want to silver-up my axe but i dont want to pay for mithral and i hate how all the other silver options lower my damage.
But then i thought of Jade as a material. Basically what i am thinking is that Jade weapons will have all the features of Stone: fragile, lighter weight, what weapons can be made with it, etc. But it would count as silver.
Plus it would be immune to Rust and anti-metal spells and would be really fitting for druids. Though it might be vulnerable to a Rock transmutation spells.
Do you guys think this is a fitting idea?
And how much do you think this would cost?
Hey guys, i got an alchemist in my campaign who is addicted to throwing around Grease spells (in a bottle) and he wants a set of boots that are magically immune to slipping. Not just from grease spells but from smooth ice, wet polished stone, oil slick, etc.
I cant find a spell that does this so i have ho idea what to plug into the magic item creation chart.
What do you guys think something like this would cost?
Thankyou very much for the suggestions. This will definitely get me started.
These are great feats, Thanks.
Any suggestions on slayer/rogue talents?
I do indeed plan to take the two weapon style talents and probably trapfinding and assassinate so i can be the party rogue.
Skyler Malik wrote: who needs feats? You should VMC. uh, what is VMC? And why should i?
avr wrote: If you're going to do intimidation with that setup then Power Attack and Cornugon Smash seem natural feats to go for. Assuming that you're primarily interested in fighting in melee then the ranger combat style talents for the two-weapon combat style seem natural. The thrown style is trickier to use and trickier to build for too, but it can work.
With the 'fellow Pathfinders!' bit, does that mean you're playing in Pathfinder Society (PFS)?
thanks for the suggestions.
No im and not Society, i was just being dramatic.
Yes i intend to focus on Melee with my Stealth, with intimidation and throwing coming in second.
Hello fellow Pathfinders!
I need some advice. I am starting a new character, a Lizardfolk Stygian Slayer who Duel Wields Star Knives.
Thing is i usually play wizards and clerics.
So do any of you have any advice on what feats and talents i should choose? I'm thinking i want to focus on stealth and intimidation.
Please and Thankyou!
Andy Brown wrote: RAW, they're thrown weapons. In melee, probably improvised weapon equivalent to a light mace (they're really not made for melee, most of the damage comes from the speed they travel and the rotation).
And as the description says, they don't return by themselves.
Well as I said he will melee with throwing axes and yes we are aware of them not returning without magic.
But do you think they are light or one handed weapons?
Hey guys, I'm a new DM and I have a player who wants to be a thrown weapon specialist. He wants to duel wield boomerangs primarily, while using throwing axes in melee.
But I can't find anything that says if boomerangs are light or one handed weapons.
He makes the point that they are about the same size and weight as starknives. Also that it is functionally identical to the javelin but costs an exotic feat to use, therefore justifying it as a light weapon.
So how would you guys classify boomerangs for handedness?

I see no problem with a GM tweaking the spells Enlarge/Reduce Person to target other creatures of the same type as the caster, instead of always only Humanoid, regardless of caster. So an Outsider casting Enlarge Person could only target other Outsiders, a Monstrous Humanoid can only target other Monstrous Humanoids, etc.
A Spell that can affect several different types would certainly be a higher level. Using Disguise Self (1st level) and Seeming (5th level) as a comparison in level jumps, I'd say it would be a 5th level spell.
Imbicatus wrote: Even if you make an Enlarge Person spell that works on Constructs, they would still be immune to it because they are immune to any effect that allows a fortitude save.
Enlarge/Reduce allow a fort save.
Well as Cuup said, Enlarge and Reduce Persons spells work on any humanoid regardles of size. Heck you could cast Enlarge Person on a Rune Giant (the biggest of giants being Gargantuan size) to jump him up to Colossal and it would still be a Lvl 1 spell. Also i would like to b able to use these spells for other characters since i love playing non-human caster characters. Basically the starting size of the caster should not affect the basic utility of the spell nor its Spell Level.
1. Now in regards to what Imbicatus said; isnt it possible for intelligent creatures to allow spells to bypass Saves and Resistances if they want to? For instance couldn't a Vampire allow say, an Enlarge Monster spell to affect him if he wanted?
2. So with all this being said would would you all think should be the spell level for Enlarge/Reduce Monster spells that can target any creature type?
So i am playing a Monsterous Humanoid Arcanist/Fighter and eventually i will become a Construct via the Green Star Adept prestige class adapted to Pathfinder. I am Large size and want to be able to cast Enlarge Person and Reduce Person on myself during certain situations but they only affect humanoids.
If i was to research new versions of these spells that would affect any (or perhaps a half dozen) creature types, then what level would such spells be?
And If i researched the spells to only affect Target: Personal would that bring the spell level down?
Ok so i'm in a Pathfinder game were i have used the Race Builder rules to make a sort of 'Lesser Minotaur' which i am playing as an Arcanist/Fighter/Eldritch Knight. He is large size but not nearly as tough as a true minotaur.
Anyway i want to make him bigger sometimes but Enlarge Person doesn't work on Monstrous Humanoids so i am looking for items that do that to anything. I plan to get a suit of +1 Titanic armor as soon as possible but that stuff costs 16,000 so i am looking for something cheaper in the mean time.
I say the Belt of Growth in the old 3.5 MIC and it works on anything and is only 3,000 but i know prices are different between 3.5 and Pathfinder.
So what would a Belt of Growth cost in Pathfinder?
it is an item that basically casts Enlarge Person on the wearer regardless of type, and last 10 minutes. Its the "regardless of type" part that has me stumped for pricing.
Milo v3 wrote: If your making them with the feat rather than the spell, you can ignore the spell prerequiste for a +5 increase to the DC. what feat? How does that work with out the spell?
Ok so i am building an arcane caster who is going to be something of a construct master, who will build and maintain a small team of constructs to fight for him.
I am also interested in the rules for animated objects. Except that it seems Animate Object is a spell only available to bards and clerics.
Is there a way for a Sorcerer, or Wizard or Arcanist to cast Animate Object?
(by lvl 20 i want to have my own animated stone tower)
Pounce wrote: Finally, you can also choose to get a bloodline familiar, trading your first-level bloodline ability and delayed bloodline spells (you get them a level later) for a familiar. OOOOoooh! That Bloodline Familiar thing is perfect! Thanks!
Ok so is it possible for a Sorcerer to get a Familiar without taking the Arcane Bloodline (or the Serpentine Bloodline)?
A friend of mine wants to play a Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer with Psudodragon familiar but he can't take the Improved Familiar Feat without first having a basic familiar.
So is there another way to get a Familiar besides the previously stated bloodlines or taking a level of Wizard? Maybe some obscure Feat or something?
Tin Foil Yamakah wrote: Out of curiosity, what class were you planning this build for? Wizard 1/Fighter 4/Greestar Adept (home modded for Pathfinder)
Oh!
Sort of like how you can only use 2 magic rings even if you were wearing 10 different magic rings. Right?
Damn.
So, for another example:
Say i was wearing a +1 Buckler of Fire Resistance AND and +1 Buckler of Cold Resistance...
Your saying that I would NOT be Resistant to both Cold and Fire?
Only one or the other?
Hey guys, first posted topic and i need some info.
So I love magical shields, they have some of the best enchantments.
Anyway i am planning on building a very defensive tank character and i was planing on giving him 2 magical shields, something like this:
Large Shield + Longsword + Buckler
Now i fully realize that i can only apply the armor bonus from one shield and only if i am not attacking with that arm. What i want to do is make the Large Shield an all up +5 with a few other (+) enchantments and then have the Buckler be just a +1 with Mirrored and Fortification and a few others. So i would only really be taking advantage of the AC bonus from the Large Shield.
My question is whether my having 2 magical shields would preclude me from taking advantage of the enchantment effects of the second shield if they have nothing to do with AC.
And yes i am fully aware that wearing a Buckler on my main arm will give me a -1 penalty to hit and i am fine with that.
So can you guys help me out?
