Tresmeer's mouth makes an O as his son breaks cover. Shaking his head at the folly of leaving the house, he hefts his sickle and follows. "Pethorn don't die for them! Come back here. Ye Gods! Sabre heel!" The elder man and his hound come out heading after the halfling and trying to block the zombies from Pethorn. Initiative 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

"Yes. It all feels wrong. Maybe they are hiding in that cellar or.....for good or ill I suppose. Standing here helps no one. Come on Sabre. Keep an eye around out here so we are not trapped." The old man simply opens the door and calls softly, his faithful hound sniffing beside him. The sickle is held by one leg, almost hidden. "Hello?" On the way out from Soliene's, Tresmeer's cold morning cough hacks away for a while until it is clear. Then the man listens to the elf and suggests "why not close it until we return and then open it when we return? That sounds safer." Once inside Tresmeer nods to Kallin "Let us stay together for now until we can get an idea of what the problem here is. Kallin could a fog create shambling dead?"
Human Expert 1, Init +1, AC16/12/14, Hits 8, F+2,R+1,W+3, Perception +5
Tresmeer nods in agreement. "I wonder if the foul air is caused by some item brought back by those adventurers? It is a guess but logically there must be a reason for this coincidence. Mayhap the zombies are collecting bodies for a greater army or greater protection while Kolli grows like a cancer. That hedge is a bandage but we need to go in and find out more about the reason behind all this," waves the blacksmith. He looks back at Pethorn and agrees, "we should get some rest if that is okay?"
Human Expert 1, Init +1, AC16/12/14, Hits 8, F+2,R+1,W+3, Perception +5
"Please. We have been sent from Ardfell since we have had no word from Kolli. The last village spoke of terrible walking dead that attacked. I understand little more except that my friend Beldinar has been dragged inside the hedge. What is going on here? Anything you can tell us would be useful. Tresmeer adopts a less aggressive stance than Henry and slips past his drawn sword to partially cover the blade from the elf, hoping to come across as a friend. Is there a chance we might have heard of this elf, DM? Knowledge (local) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12, Diplomacy1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

"Sounds good Kallin. You hurt son?" Tresmeer snaps off a small twig and shakes his head again. He helps the halfling to his furry feet. "I doubt that druid will allow us entry easily when they use such a strong spell to seal in the village."

Tresmeer looks around for a way in between the gorse thorns. he gradually works his way along. "Maybe now is the time for some halfling scouting first? This bush will take a good deal of cutting and it might warn them we are coming. There must be a way in and out, mustn't there?"
Human Expert 1, Init +1, AC16/12/14, Hits 8, F+2,R+1,W+3, Perception +5
Cheers GM Tresmeer takes one of the sickles and waves the other towards Henry. He also hands a couple of the oil flasks to Pethorn and Kallin. "You have been a great help here. I promise to do my utmost to help save Kolli and here. Beldinar was a good friend and I'll do my best to find him. Come on Sabre! It must be time to go."

Tresmeer makes a mental sum or two and frowns, "Orgum, I understand there are about nine, possibly ten creatures with Beldinar, all loose from Kolli. Three more are accounted for as dead .........again. But how many people live in Kolli. Aren't there more?" Knowledge local 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

"Thank you Orgum. I understand your plight better now. As for a weapon do you have sickles? One or two if those should slash through a few zombies like wheat." Hopefully still using the benefits of that good diplomacy roll. As for DR we have seem that sort of mistake happen all too often. "...and flasks of oil perhaps before you leave for Ardfell.

"What weapons are best to use against them? Fire flasks of oil perhaps, or spears. Can they make horses into zombies or flying creatures? I have no knowledge of this." Tresmeer looked around the room. "Who else will come and help us? We are four and a dog. An old dog. Could do with one or two more, couldn't we?" The old man goes to the window and stares outside, murmuring "why attack here, now?" Out comes the pipe and soon smoke is billowing all about his grey hair and straw hat as he thinks. You keep score please GM, just asking. "I am Trresmeer the Smithy. Kallin the priest and Henry the warrior are here to help. Who are you? and how many are you? Tell us of what has been happening here so that an honest man does not open his door to visitors. If you are honest?" Tresmeer waves his son out of sight just in case.

what do we find on the goblin bodies? Any tribal markings or tattoos? "What of your faith, Kallin? I asked of Pharasma but the goblins interrupted us a little. As for that fight, it was the first time I have used my morningstar in anger. Well done Sabre. Have some dried meat, you old hound. Ha" How we doing xp, GM? Tresmeer sits back and points about with his pipe as he speaks, "I expected that merchant Beldinar last week from Nidas. He is not usually late, and his wife's honeycakes are missed, especially by Pethorn. Yes, I have no good reason not to go for the village. Luckily Garath is more than capable to look after the forge these days." The old man stretches up and rubs his aching back unconsciously. Happy to help and its always good to be chosen. Pethorn - Tresmeer could probably make a masterwork chain shirt for you. He has the skills and I think he would want the best for his little chap. I'll build something about Pethorn into his background. I have a fair bit of gold to spend and I'll try to do that later this morning. Otherwise it will have to be tomorrow. Cheers
"Pops! pops! come here and say that - you young whippersnapper." I am sure he can learn to look the other way, especially for an adopted son. GM thanks for the languages, that is updated now. Looking forward to seeing how this pans out. I have played in both those scenarios and the mechanics can work - they do however need loads of effort. Probably too much for a pbp. Cheers
How do you plan to move us from NPC to PC. Is this going to be like Treasure Hunt/Under Illefarn or do you have your own ideas? Also Tresmeer needs to choose three languages. Advice please on what the likely ones are around Ardfell. By the way, Tresmeer may go witch (instead of wizard) if the game plays out that way. Do we have a future rogue in this group? If not then consider that Tresmeer's skills may include Disable Device before we start. Its a stretch but not beyond the bounds of possibility. Cheers
I am interested and I'll give it some thought. NPC to hero is one of my favourite game starts so this sounds right up my street. As for which NPC, not sure yet, but probably the expert since I generally play spellcasters in the other pbp games. An elderly blacksmith with a secret love of arcane magic - if you will allow us to use the age changes to stats too? Then he will be the father who can hand over the forge to his his young son. Let me know. He could become the wizard if all goes according to plan. Cheers EDIT: Here is one possible character and his stats, not too optimised really.

Tresmeer is pretty much done. DMs
Spoiler:
There is only one question. I have 2 claw attacks but I wasn't sure if I needed to take 2 wpn fighting for a -2/-2 penalty to attack or if the bloodline means I get a +0/+0 attack bonus. What do you guys think, it isn't clear? I'd rather use the feat elsewhere if not necessary. Cheers and looking forward to this.

Frustrated, irritated, hungry and getting just a little angry with his lot, Tresmeer returns to the main corridor and begins checking doors and openly them. He takes care to shut the door between the kitchen and the party so that no noise may reach any yrch. Randomly listening and opening doors. Trying not to stray too far from the party.

Tresmeer leaves the wreckage, more confident that Conneach's map is accurate. He briefly checks back west to the party to see if they are in trouble and then bobs into the room opposite. If anyone at the back notices his movement, the moorwalker waves to show that everything is fine.
