We still have the 'elixir of swimming' if anyone is interested in retrieving the gold from the pool? Not to mention the mithral flask/dagger/caltrop containing 'hide from undead'. A suggestion: take the 'hide from undead' potion, then the 'elixir of swimming' and someone dive in and retrieve the loot? Any takers? I'm reluctant to believe we were given all these items only not to use them in a way which will maximize our loot. Though ... as a newb, perhaps the adventure could have taken different paths which would have required us to use them in different scenarios or different ways within the the scenarios we encountered

Tomas remembers the items found in Kalkamede's house: As the lock is opened you discover many of Kalkamedes's old adventuring equipment. Wrote yesterday's posts after a hard day and long evening at the pub. I understand why I get attacked twice (it's on the map). Regarding armour: that listed on my character sheet link is what I was wearing on my last adventure. With gold earned I upgraded to chainmail. The idea was, I could dispense with shield and use my greatsword two-handed. I meant to explicitly say earlier that I would be wearing it. Anyway, I didn't, so I'll take the damage if I have to. Thallin, I don't think the link says what Tomas is wearing, only what he is carrying. I'm not using herolabs. I work things out on paper then update to charactersheet.co.uk online docs service.

Safest might be to just kill the bear. Not the nicest - I know. Though, might be safer to avoid the chance of conflict. If we can lead Kalkamedes up to the next split in the path and see which way he wants to go, we might just be able to do that. If he wants to go to the bear, I'm okay with killing it. How does this sound ... ? The party proceeds with me at the front (crossbow drawn) to the split. Behind me, Kalakamedes and Thallin. At the split, if we get people with ranged weapons on either side, ready to fire if it charges. That gives escape routes left and right and behind. If Kalkamedes and Thallin flee backwards then I will shield them from the bear if it gets to melee. If I get killed, at least the party has a chance to proceed further with Kalkamedes (assuming those on the flank manage to kill the bear).
