"Then we have an agreement." With that she withdraws and takes to the sky.

As the elf seems to prepare to join the party, Tkk-tkk worries. Still, if there is hostility, it is better to get it over with. She will approach the elf and wait, about fifty feet away. When noticed, she will nod.

If the elf returns a positive signal, she will approach slowly and openly.

"I am Tkk-tkk. I wish to assure you that I will not start any hostilities while we travel together. My hunting skills will keep me fed without seeking out any elf-meat. I swear this by the Earth and Sky."

As she sears the sand ripples into circles below and the winds circle around.

Tkk-tkk is staying back to avoid triggering the elves. After all, some of them have completely unprovoked hostility towards the Kreen.

Tkk-tkk will signal the caravan to approach slowly. He'll come to the ground a ways back, not wanting to start trouble with the elves. He'll warn the group that there are elves there at the moment, and they should wait cautiously.

Tkk-tkk will circle down lower in order to see if there are any threats waiting at the Oasis.

As the others rise, Tkk-tkk greets them. Before dawn she digs out a small area and covers herself with sand to meditate and prepare for the day. Then she takes to the sky and circles to scout out a good path for the caravan.

Tkk-tkk will circle down to signal that they aren't a threat right now. "They are miles away, we need to keep an eye out, but people can go back to being dead."

She pauses, realizing this wasn't right. "Asleep. You can go back to being asleep."

Tkk-tkk looks over and tries to judge how close the wolves are. If they aren't close, there's no need to alarm, just caution.

Still, something was wrong. This many creatures being attracted to the caravan seems unusual.

There are a few things I'd like to ask for input on.

I'm trying to decide between Ymir and Anakim as a name, and I was wondering if there were any Dark Sun items in particular I should consider strongly when selecting gear.

I will say that Anakim makes me think of a certain whiny young jedi...

I am Jeral, not Tok'sa.

I have self-control.

I have not eaten elf so far, despite the temptation.

It won't be an issue from my side so long as we have other food available.

When it comes down to "eating people in the caravan is necessary for survival", then he'd obviously be first on the block.

Normally flying characters need the same rest as walkers. If it makes a difference, my flight is the equivalent of a fly spell.

I was thinking that Daqas and I would be 60' in front, 60' up and each 60' to the left or right. That way we're not too far away for support or communication.

We might want each of the fliers to have a couple of colored flags. That way we could do a signal that could be seen even back at the main caravan.

Maybe:

Red for a monster or obviously hostile group.
Green for an unknown group of travellers who may or may not be hostile.
Blue for a hazard that the caravan should move to avoid.

We would shake the flag vigorously to show that what we find is bigger or more numerous. We can point it which direction the issue is coming from.

My perception is +17 (27 with take 10)
My survival to spot hazards or avoid getting lost is also +17 (27 with take 10)

I would guess it would work, but it would be slow and they would have to work out any missing sounds through context. It probably wouldn't work for combat or other time-sensitive situations.

I assume that some of us will be able to hunt part of the time for our ourselves and to supplement the caravan. Daquas and I have fly speeds that should let us keep up with the caravan while foraging at half speed.

Approaching the caravan area comes an unusual pair. It's rare to see an aaracockra and thri-kreen travelling together. They land at the edge of the area and come in on foot. Neither seems to be armed with weapons beyond what they were born with.

As they approach, Tkk-Tkk will buzz in their version of common. "We were hired as hunters and guards."

Daqas, I hope you don't mind that I added you to this, since we had been together.

We should probably use automatic bonus progression with 50-75% WBL then depending on if we're buying into the caravan with wagons and such. The game math assumes some chunk of magic items, and if we want to eliminate them that keeps the math close.

It might also mean we want to take crafting feats and turn them into crafting quests/story feats at some point, but that's in the future.

Yes. The crafting feats should have a story associated with them under the Dark Sun.

Does the yes mean that we are suing ABP? And is it the base level or the no magic items level?

I think it would be just fine! My character isn’t too old or experienced either. Just what we should expect from a level 6 monk, basically. The fact she speaks Auran is a big plus! My character is lawful good as imaginable (monk/aarakocra) and worships the neutral good aarakocra goddess (from the plane of air), but it’s mostly a peaceful hunter trying to find his place in an apocalyptic world. As a soulknife (soul bolt)/soul archer, he uses his mind to generate a psionic bow that shoots psionic arrows. He’s a lot more about wild power than study. Like all aarakocra he loves shiny objects, but doesn’t really use armor or anything of the sorts.

Sounds good. I'm lawful neutral, and I use air blasts and natural weapons.

Maybe we could play up the carnivore angle. One of us is chasing prey that runs toward the cover of rocks. The other comes out from the rocks and finishes it off. I expect I'd be down among rocks. We both watch each other warily from a distance, but don't attack each other. Through gestures at a distance, we indicate that we'd be willing to share and draw closer.

As we split the carcass, we find ourselves talking and learn each other's similarities. And then we are attacked by something wanting our meat. We fight it off and the rest is history.

Cool, that's fixed.
