Hanzo (and anyone else who cares), Gen Con was a blast, and exhausting. Thursday: 3 slots of Pathfinder Society 2nd edition! That's right, 12 hours of PFS2e. I got my CRB in the mail just in time before we left for vaca, but at the Con I picked up the Bestiary, GM screen, condition cards, and init tracker. Paizo got a lot of my $$. The games themselves were pretty awesome, and we had some great GMs. We were staying with some friends who live in Carmel (about 25 minutes north of the con) and I didn't get back until 1am, so I was exhausted. Friday: I chose to forgo my morning game (Demon Hunters Fate Core game by Zombie Orpheus), hoping to catch it at a later time. Unfortunately I was unable to. Maybe next time. Instead I met up with some friends whom I had not seen in years. After spending some time with them, I wandered the exhibit hall for a bit (got Margaret Weiss to sign "happy birthday" card for a mutual friend of hers & mine), then went to my afternoon game: Castaways (Cypher system). A lot of fun! But I left early to go have dinner with my wife and a few good friends. Saturday: Mostly shopping. Picked up Catan & Catan Jr for our gracious hosts and their kids. Got a few other books:
Also got a couple pieces of "mystery art" from JP7 because I am crazy about their artwork:
I bought a couple GenCon t-shirts (black dragon for me, pride flag for wife), and a wallet, and a number of gifts for others. I spent the rest of the day hanging out with yet another group of friends (1 of whom spilled a drink on my PF2 CRB, but did minimal damage so I didn't beat him too hard). Sunday: decided I'd had enough because I'm an old grouch and was ready for my own bed, so after being re-routed about 10 times by Indy construction, we finally drove home (next state over). There you go, way more than you asked for! :D

Hanzo considers Guruthos to be his most trusted friend, and gladly sacrifices his share of the treasure for the masked elf. Jori sees past Guruthos' unpleasant (but not too unpleasant) exterior to the beautiful soul underneath and falls madly in love with him. Oh wait, I suppose you meant that the GM would bot them. My bad. Enjoy your new gig! :D

As though summoned by some dark incantation, Guruthos appears behind Thomas like a swelling shadow. After a brief pause, he takes a seat at the table. He waves away any offers of food or drink; he slipped downstairs in the wee hours and pilfered a small bit of bread, cheese, and porridge, then ate it in his room. A small raven, previously unnoticed, hops down off of Guruthos' shoulder and pecks at some crumbs on Hanzo's plate. The elf silently peers at the group from behind his mask.

Guruthos acknowledges the shrine, tilts his head to pray, then does the spiral on his chest when finished. He nods to the undertaker in gratitude, then sets out with her to recover the bodies. Before embarking to the tower, he warns her of what dangers may still lurk (making sure to take some food and water in case the haunts return, and a pen and some paper to draw the house seal to show to the clockwork guardian. He also obtains a small glass vial. Once the bodies are all recovered and laid to rest, the masked elf gathers a pinch of dirt from each grave and deposits it into the vial. When complete, he subtly requests to visit Calladastina's shrine once more. When they arrive, he kneels before the alter and places the small vial upon it. "Your commands have been obeyed, Lady," his gravelly voice grumbles from beneath the wooden mask, and he motions the spiral once more. "Well done." A crone-like voice says behind him, startling the undertaker. Guruthos and Calladastina both turn to see a small black raven sitting on the floor in the entrance to the shrine. Her obsidian eyes stare deeply at the elf, and she opens her beak once more, emitting a voice like that of an elderly halfling woman, "You have performed your services well. Come, let us return to the inn, where the master will grant your reward in the form of a restful night of slumber. Your next lesson begins at dawn." The human woman can hardly believe what she sees and hears, stammering for a moment. "And you, good lady. You have served Pharasma well this day. May she smile upon you." The tiny bird turns toward toward the front door and hops away. Guruthos rises from in front of the shrine, and bows to Calladastina, then wearily makes his way out of her home and back to the inn. He arrives at the Inn and climbs the stairs without addressing anyone. In his room, he opens the window shutters, and the small raven flies into the room. Removing his weapons, armor, and mask, he lays down on the bed. She perches on his bedpost and whispers, "Sleep now, my boy. No evils will haunt your dreams this night." His eyes close and the sands of sleep fall upon him.

Phos is intrigued by Solarious' intent and thus gives him Diviner's Fortune (+4) to aid him in his check. After which, Phos would like to discuss the trade of spells from each others spellbooks with Solarious. Very nice work everyone. This game went pretty well.

Thanks for replying WG. I appreciate you giving it a second glance. Honestly, the idea took a bit of time to grow on me as well, but once I realized that it had some great possibilities as a plot-tool, I had to use it. You're right, the tattoo (or portable item) has been done quite a bit, but I've got a soft spot in my heart for wizards and spellbooks, and I hoped to open it up a bit more for other casters with the "cast from tattoo" option. It could probably use a bit more work to rev the excitement factor up a bit. Thanks for the feedback.

Codex Soma
I realize that I failed to italicize the spells, but beyond that, what do y'all think? What could I improve upon?

Some specific use cases for the various crafts and professions. e.g. an herbal dust that, when sprinkle around the outer edges of a (spell)book keeps vermin away, or something to that effect. Spellbook descriptions, modifications and accessories (e.g. the waterproof spellbook case). A bullet bandolier for gunslingers. maybe it allows you to reload up to 2 barrels at once, instead of 1 or something of the like. Wrist holster for a hidden firearm for a +2 slight of hand to hide. Maybe a wristband that converts to 15' of rope like this one. Maybe specialized packs/backpacks for different types, like a caster's backpack (has slots for a secure but easy to reach spellbook), a rogue's pack (has slots for easy to reach climbing gear, small lights, etc). Prayer books for priests (gives a +1 to CL or DC vs spells of a Domain).

This is clearly an attempt to create a Fey noble from the Dresden Files universe, particularly in the restrictions on lying while having a high bluff skill. While I think Jim Butcher does a masterful job at portraying this particular facet of the fairy nature, I don't think it translates so well into the game mechanics here. I applaud the attempt, but I can't really vote for it. Sorry.

Farewell and best of luck to the VCs who are departing their positions, and congratulations to the new VCs and VLs. I am excited by the fact that we need a VC in places like Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia! Mike, I would like to point out that we could really use a Venture-Captain or Venture-Lieutenant in Dayton, Ohio. Our S.O.G.G. (Southwestern Ohio Gathering of Gamers) group has been growing by leaps and bounds every month, thanks to PFS, and every time I walk into one of the game stores, I see messages from more and more Pathfinder players. In fact, I even have someone in mind who I think would make an excellent VC or VL, and no it is not me. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to hear my nomination.
Does anyone else think it would be funny to have a 20th level monk of the healing hands named "the"?
