With a voice not unlike that of a chaplain taking the last rites, the Techmarines set on to rigg the power pack to the lascannon with an odd mix of high gothic and binary chant.[/i]

Jup you guessed right, thanks for resolving. I did roll by second ten in my RF. It was labeled exploding dice in the first and RF! In the second.

Gang up is just another example of POOR wording. "if they outnumber their enemy" RAW.
I always thought it as a per-target thing. If you attack one enemy together, you will have an advantage, don't you? Also it make melee fights a bit more tactical ... Do the team attack different targets to kill them quickly, or do they attack one target together to get rid of them ASAP.
Your call, just thinking out loud.

Hi guys, a little heads up and advertisement in my own case …
I just put up a recruitment thread for an Only War game which is a tribute game to the (in-)famous 'The All Guardsmen Party'. This ongoing story by a genius (borderline madman) features a few brutally lethal meat grinder campaigns with your regiment and eventually evolves into a dark heresy game were all players are guardsmen. Sounds boring? Not with the story this guy came up with!
Just have a look for yourself!
Welcome to the Guard!

I would go the narrative route. No need to play that farce out in-depth...
Thinking quickly Tiamat continues his charge at the nearest Raven Guard, dropping the heavy lascannon a few meters before he reaches the opponent of choice.
Slamming into the other with his full weight, he immediately tries to lock the other marine with the help of his powerful servo arm.
Despite it seems to onlookers that he struggles to get a deadlock grip on the marine, his motions and used strength are training niveau only so to not crush bones or squeeze out the air from his lungs.
The close grapple fighting is the perfect opportunity to whisper forth and back.
"I am Tiamat of the Salamanders."
"Loyal Descendants of those present at Istvaan IV should not fight each other!"
"Do the sons of raven have an escape plan? You are well known for your ad-hoc thinking capabilities."

Tiamat is completely surprised at the sight of their new 'enemies' and stops his charge, trying to think of a way to stop the madness which seems to be inevitable.
"What is this? Are those Battle Brothers? Have they gone mad or are they hexed? Try to reason with them or maybe disable rather than kill them if possible. We should not do the work of enemies!"
Can I think of a way to prove to them that we are allies? Like some codeword or hand signs or ..? I'll give a roll on Common Lore Astartes or maybe Codex Astartes.
The Salamander in me would really hate to fight other marines even if they are hexed or simply driven mad by Xenos...

I was thinking about sargent myself, but stepped back because I cannot guarantee high frequent posts, which can be difficult if you are the leader. Throwing some dice in:

WS: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (6, 6) + 20 = 32
BS: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (2, 9) + 20 = 31
S: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (3, 1) + 20 = 24

Per: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (10, 5) + 20 = 35
Wp: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (5, 5) + 20 = 30
Fel: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (2, 6) + 20 = 28

Those are ok. Would have wished for a higher BS though.
Oh, just saw that we can assign them freely. Cool.
We'll see if I find the time to put a char together.

[Edit]Started clumbing something together ... from which book is anti-armor discipline?

Feliks said that he didn't heard of the material - same goes for me.

Both cakes sounds yummy, but I pretty much expected Tiamat to stay on the good side - he's a Salamander after all - even if the dark side waves with chocolate chip cookies xD
Playing Astartes for a while is fine with me - I'm interesting of how you gonna pull that of in fact, as every one of us should be primarily interested in returning to his chapter after breaking the chains.

Might be interested, played a lot of DW here already.
And I am a big fan of "the all guardsmen party" which is a DH game featuring only guardsmen PCs - and is completely hilarious xD
Not sure if I can keep up with one post per day in another campaign though - at least no lengthy posts - but guardsmen are many and die a lot so if I hold things up - just kill/wound me and go on? xD

I did not yet looked deeper into OW - lots of rule changes and new char generation I heard.

Lots of my favorite roles are already noticed (medic, sniper, heavy weapons) so maybe simple rank&file, or maybe another heavy according to the regiment build.

If I am correct, the original idea of Gathrix was something like the following:
- Astartes from various chapters were captured in various raids and are currently made to fight in the arena
- Eventually they will make an escape or are rescued somehow
- Dues to their experiences are sent to the Deathwatch
- Start of some Deathwatch campaign with the kill team having a cool and common background

He was planned on using the Soul Reaver campaign only as a ... background ... jump board ... starter for a follow up DW campaign. See his initial post @ page 1 - especially the ooc part. Here is an extract:
"I am merely using the coliseum portion of the book and some of the plot hooks, but 80% of it will be fresh material."

[EDIT:]So think of a way of how we may exit that damn Xeno closet and this can go every way you want it to go in your universe ;-)
I have the vision of us cleaning up all the mess the other group left behind =DD

Yeah of course every other day is fine ... I have a heavy year coming myself, with lots of exams, work and master thesis, so I cannot guarantee for a everday-average myself - at least no long posts.

Nono, I think he was just surprised - and happy to see - that someone stepped up to make this going again.

@Gathrix: thanks for starting and GMing this. It has a really cool format and was lots of fun already! Just throw in a post if you are doing better - or you are starting something new. I think you will always find interest here.

@Snowman: Same as Feliks - and I mean: completely the same ;-)

That sounds fair enough.

Also interested in the game, but I was under the assumption that gathrix is on a good path back to health again, so ...

Nothing against you taking over Snowman, I am in fact a player in your other campaign (bloody greetings) and really enjoying it, simply thinking about gathrix here. Might be a thing for him to continue on as soon as he gets well again.

Wow, that sounds awful!
Hope for the best, we'll wait for your return as soon as you are up to it again.

Oh, ahm well yeah. I forgot that. But if I would be the chief engineer all would be "fine". Just kidding. I will find enough projects to keep me and Seth's occupied ;-)
@Seth:I feel like we are about to create a green r2d2+c3po for this ^^

Radavel wrote:
have to say that the Rogue Trader will probably not allow his ship modified with Orky Tech at the risk of being blown by any and all Imperial ships in the vicinity.

I thought so, but maybe a little bit. As in "emergency repair" and "just a little 'biz 'ere and 'ter ta make it go red-painted 'an more Dakka"? ^^

Are imperial scanners that good that they can scan for ork tech in a big rogue trader ship full of xeno artefacts? Just asking, if you say nono its fine, I'll have more time "Fr my own bizz!" :-)
Thought it hilarious to have a ork chief mechanic on a rogue trader ship, but maybe that was a bit to much lolz ^^

Bte. Ork characteristics are f+$*ed up compared to Kroot and Human ones ... You trade two +5's for two -10, one -15 and two -5's compared to humans. A bit harsh isn't it? But well ... You have to pay a prize to play a green brute with lots and lots of lolz I think? ;-)

I have this incredible idea of a Freeboota Orc Pilot or Mec-Boy keeping the starship working and driving all the Ad-Mechs Nuts with orcish technology 'understanding' *giggle* and utterly crazy flying maneuves. And of course always eager to 'collect' some teeth's planetside :-)
Would you allow that kind of char-concept? Could get pretty hilarious I think ... Always wanted to play an Orc in 40k... Definitely one big advantage of rogue trader to allow such things!

I'll leave a dot here for now. Depends a bit if one of my campaigns continues, the setting you have in mind and how fast - if at all - this will start off as I have a lot to do for the rest of the month.

I have played quite a lot Deathwatch and a little Dark Heresy (v1) and know a lot about the wh40k fluff, dislike psykers, love techies and poor guardsmen. So much on me as a possible player.

Tip Radavel: Give some info about setting, possible homebrew-rules, etc for possible players. It will speed things up if the players know those things beforehand. Better than dropping out afterwards if one dislike something.

Yeah the support of FFF is ... Enhanceable. I would love something like the pathfinder reference homepage. I would have bought the books nevertheless, because they are really beautiful, but as a quick reference ... Even as PDF (they are to big and to confusing) it is hard to find things fast. Possible advise: Use some online-document thing like OneNote, googledocs, Everest, etc to store pre-formated rolls and quick lookup's for things needed often. But it is often hard to determine what is needed beforehand, I know that^^

It is sad that it slowed down a bit, but on the other side it gives me more time to learn for the coming exams ... so maybe it does make me happy, but maybe its a good thing if it slows down for some time ... At least for my grades?^^

At the last word of the new Xeno echo in his mind, he is confused. Dying? Now? Not a chance.
