Hey guys, wanted to offer all my apologies, but I will be bowing out of the game at this point. I have been casting a very scrutinizing eye over all the games I am in, and this one unfortunately did not make the cut...

I think we have a great cast of characters, and I could see some interesting things happening with this group. However... The pace does not work for me at all (in spite of the holiday season) - I think we have unfortunately been stumbling along with a posting rate which I find is extremely low to keep the story flow moving, in a way that will motivate me. The sparse posting also creates (in me) a disjointed feel - I don't feel like I am part of a story or an adventure. Just something that is (barely) moving along at all.

And personally, I can understand life happens but the long hiatuses from GM Wolf without any sort of explanation contribute a lot to this.

So thank you again for the invitation, and the RP sparring - I wish you all good luck with the continuation of the adventure, and hope we get other chances to play.

And Merry Christmas everyone!

Throrgar

Just as a note GM Wolf - weekends will usually see scarce posting from my end.

Throrgar grabs a wand from his wrist sheath, and zaps himself for an added protection layer in case a fight breaks out.

UMD Wand of Shield: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Dex to Aid Balan: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Dex to squeeze through: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

I modified the token positions on the map, as they did not reflect our marching order - as was agreed, when we are not in 'scouting mode', Balan and Sendi take point. Right?

GM Wolf:
We had decided to move as a block. With Victrix's glowing humanoid form up ahead.

But it was fun imagining the scene - I laughed :D

"Of course, I have the voice of a baritone" - Throrgar chuckles at Victrix.

After Balan and Auso 'quietly' come closer, Throrgar ponders their options for a second - "Ok. Mayhaps send your 'illuminated' friend up ahead? He will not be able to relay any information to us though, correct?"

"I do" - Throrgar whispered to Victrix, just as he moves off to investigate.

"I will take a look ahead" - Throrgar grunts, then moves off into the darkness, toward the sounds.

Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31

His familiar Azazel follows closely without a sound.

Stealth: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (7) + 20 = 27
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

Note: Throrgar speaks and understands Draconic.

Same. Reach weapon ftw ;)

If not scouting, Throrgar would probably not take the lead. He is not a frontliner ;)

Throrgar waits for Auso's 'report'

"How so?" - Throrgar retorted.

I think we can move ahead - either with Victrix's ghost, or Auso's discerning gaze :)

"I say let's roll with it, and then we change tactics if needed - I liked the ghost" - the half-orc chuckled again.

"Nice trick" - Throrgar chuckled - "So we are intent on announcing our arrival with as much light, pomp and circumstance as possible, is that it?"

"I can scout ahead" - Throrgar nodded at Aukan - "But I am fine either way" - he shrugged at Auso.

If they want Throrgar to scout:

Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

"I say we go around - whatever it is, this is probably their territory" - Throrgar pointed out.

Aukan the Goliath wrote:

Aukan would competitively hunt against each of you. Pointing out the differences in size of the catch of the day and would lord it over the group if he is the one to bring home the best catch.

On the first, fourth, and ninth day you likely hear about it the most.

He does not seem to be the one bringing the best catch on day 1 nor on the ninth :P

Throrgar really has no patience for Aukan's constant braggard attitude - he ponders whether to point that out or not, but eventually remains silent about it.

"I am not an expert either" - Throrgar nods at Sendi and Auso - "But I did read something about it in this manual I purchased recently, so we can give it a try"

Survival day 1: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 + 2 = 29
Survival day 2: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17
Survival day 3: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 + 2 = 17
Survival day 4: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 8 + 2 = 20
Survival day 5: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 8 + 2 = 14
Survival day 6: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 2 = 26
Survival day 7: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 12
Survival day 8: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 2 = 12
Survival day 9: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 8 + 2 = 30

"I know we are investigating a potential concern for the region, so time may be of the essence" - Throrgar comments to the others as they travel - "But I believe we have much to gain in foraging and hunting as we go" - he suggests.

Throrgar smiled - "I do not think I can be converted Sendi"

Throrgar adds the feather to his Necklace of Charms and joins the others - "Seems to be attuned to one's faith, so it will not work for me. I shall carry it nonetheless" - he shrugs.

Wish you quick recovery Victrix ;)

GM Wolf:

Throrgar will take some time to try and understand the magic of the feather.

Spellcraft Feather Take 20: 20 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ 20 + 7 + (1) = 28

The night before, after it was decided they would follow the 'sketchy intel', as Auso had perfectly put it, provided by this stranger for unknown reasons, Throrgar returned to the battle market, his notes, and a few extra drinks.

He did not trust the man, and he had no sense of duty to fight against gnolls, or this 'Carrion King' - but he did respect and trusted the people that decided to get involved in the endeavor. Coupled with his own curiosity, that was all the motivation he needed.

With a decent brandy by his side, he started on the list of equipment they might need... "Rope, pythons, grappling hooks, cold weather clothing, blankets, bedrolls..."

Throrgar chuckles and shakes his head at Victrix when she expresses the will to volunteer, but then just grunts and nods in agreement when Sendi informs them she will join.

Throrgar felt like questioning the man further, but he deferred to Almah.

"I am" - Throrgar shrugged.

"Let us do that" - Throrgar agreed, standing up, ready to leave.

"Well met all" - Throrgar greeted all those already present, then pondered the Almah's words. At first glance, he could obviously not see a connection between any of the images referenced by the princess, but he kept them in mind.

He was about to make a comment about how dreams are usually just dreams, but he kept the thoughts to himself.

Sorry guys, I completely missed the fact that we going to Almah’s was mandatory. I thought some of us could skip directly to the Battle Market. My bad.

”You’re right of course Victrix - I was distracted. Let us do that now” - Throrgar replied, getting up after they ate, gathering his gear - ”And find out what this is all about”

Throrgar does his best not to burst into laughter at Victrix’s song, and manages to somewhat keep his composure - ”That was... Impressive” - he commented, while waiting for Sendi’s reaction.

He then takes another glance at Zayifid - ”I am also starting to think it is time we listen to what this newcomer has to say?”

He definitely rolled well :D

We have a Goliath? :O

Ooooooph Soraya, that is a lot of hierarchy and status for Throrgar :P

But they could have easily crossed paths whenever he visits the church with Victrix, or returning some artifact he might have come across out in the desert, and which he may believe to have some religious relevance.

Throrgar is not a religious one, but he considers the divine as an undeniable fact ;)

”Sendi” - Throrgar smiled at the sight of the ‘orc-angel’, as he had once named her. It did not go down well at the time of course... But then again it served to confirm Throrgar’s total inability with soft words and compliments...

Truth of the matter, Sendi was the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, but that was not even the reasoning behind his comment back then - he was just using facts to come up with an intersting nickname, or so he had thought. Wrongly.

He nodded as she simply pulled up a chair and sat down - ”You’ve got it - no need to ask. We have leftover cold lamb, cold beer, cider, or water, bread, boiled eggs, honey, and goat’s milk, butter and cheese” - he grabbed the remaining scrolls from the table, putting them away in one of his scroll cases, to make room for the food.

”I was just going on about gnolls and the desert, and Victrix was telling me about the new imagery they have brought to the temple, apparently impressive” - the half-orc commented - ”But I am sure you already know the gossip about the summons from Almah, due to the new arrival, right?” - he tilted his head in the direction of Zayifid.

Sendi, congrats on the baby!

Been there, done that, though some time ago ;)

"Here and there..." - Throrgar replied - "To be honest, more than I would expect to find" - he added - "The groups we have encountered in the last patrols did not necessarily look like they were looking for a fight" - he flipped through his notes - "The first group clearly thought we were easy pickings, but when they realized it was a patrol from Kelmaranes, they just retreated. We chased them for a while, but they are hard to keep up with in the desert..."

Taking another drink from his beer, and moving some pages ahead, he continued - "The second group was even stranger - they were actually waylaying a caravan on a distant route, further away from Kelmaranes. We did not outnumber them at all, yet they also retreated when we approached" - he paused.

"So in general, nothing too exciting as you can see" - Throrgar shrugged, accepting the silver to split the breakfast tab.

The documents have a few notes in Osiriani about some of the ruins he has encountered while on patrol, including some drawings, symbols, and a lot of questions regarding purpose, time of construction, etc.

"I saw him earlier yeah" - Throrgar nodded - "But... Never skip breakfast, and never engage on a debate with an empty stomach - you know that Victrix. It clouds your judgment" - he adds with a wink - "Plus the others should be coming around also, don't you think?"

Assuming there are other 'heroes of Kelmarane' :P

"Do I order it for me only, or will you join me?" - he asks her when someone comes over to take their order.

"Nice to see you Victrix" - Throrgar lifted his eyes from the papers spread out on the table, to welcome the young woman - "Sure, sit... You already did" - he chuckled.

"To Almah? No... I have been out of the house for the last two days, so maybe they could not find me" - he nodded at his backpack and equipment in the corner, mostly covered with sand - "Was out and about with one of the patrols. You know, the usual" - he explained - "And I came directly here to wash the sand from my throat"

"Speaking of which, I just realized I am starving. Have you had breakfast yet?" - he looks around for someone to signal for service - "On me"

"So what was the summons all about?"

Throrgar liked the bustle and activity of the battle market - he liked the taverns, the shops, the sights, the smells, he liked everything about it.

When he was deep into his research, or caught up on some alchemical investigation, he preferred the privacy of his small Alchemy lab. But when organizing his thoughts and his notes, he preferred to be out here. It helped him think.

Some would recognize him from all the recent events around Kelmaranes, but many would not - in spite of his well built and compact frame, distinctive fangs, massive hair and beard, there was no lack of 'different' travelers and inhabitants all around the small village.

So his presence turned out to be discrete, even with the myriad weapons he carried all about himself, along with bandoleers, flasks, well worn and dusty clothing, and multiple other implements - it seemed like he was always prepared either for a battle, or a dissertation on some obscure subject. Yet he threaded lightly, as if all the load did not make a difference to him, his corded muscles carrying him around easily.

He was sitting at the corner of the tavern as usual, when the stranger arrived - notes spread out on the table before him as he scribbled something on a heavily used notebook, compiling the information. The half-orc took a long drink from the fresh beer at his side, then glanced for a few seconds at the one calling himself Zayifid - he entertained the thought of addressing him, but then again... "Naaaah, someone will get to it eventually" - he spoke to himself, and returned to his notes.

Hi everyone - dotting in! I was not aware the thread was already going :O

Throrgar (yep, I changed name from Tharg, hope that is ok) could be a good candidate for the moldspeaker - assuming the +1 to Intelligence skills would affect those considered by the Empiricist archetype, it would be pretty sweet. Plus the whole thing could be an object of study for him.

But all good on my end also with Balan taking it.

Throrgar could be a part of the group that contributed to the liberation of Kelmaranes. Most of his time now would probably be split between:

- The small Alchemy shop he has managed to set up next to his sleeping quarters (good idea, I am spending 200gold in an Alchemist Lab), either researching his 'own personal project' - those who know him, would be aware of this, but maybe not the details;
- Researching and documenting any curio he can get his hands on, either around Kelmaranes, or in the surrounding regions;
- Doing forays outside the walls of Kelmaranes with patrols, both intent on making sure the gnoll threat has indeed subsided, but also to saciate his will to explore;
- Visiting the guard house, to rub shoulders with some of those he fought side by side before;

I can see him sharing interests with several of the characters, but Auso as an Archeologist would be a logic one.
I can also see him delivering any religious related artifact he might come across in his forays, to anyone established in the church.
Etc.

Yep, I am here also. But like Glutton said, this game seems completely dead...

Throrgar waits patiently - he nods approvingly at Rankev, more because of the man’s confidence, than from any understanding of the argumentation he has just put forth.

"We did not know we were breaking a law" - Throrgar shrugs.

Hang in there Avesska - RL is like that ;)

Intelligence: 1d20 ⇒ 15

Throrgar rolls his eyes in exasperation - "I tire of fighting... Maybe we should just go"

Throrgar settles down next to his companions, opening the flap of his backpack - "Perhaps you should stay hidden for now..." - he whispered to Padlock, then turned to the Book he is also carrying - "Do you require any for of... Hmmm... Nourishment?"

"Do we know where we are heading?" - Throrgar pipes in, trying to take in and make sense of the place they are in, even if it goes against most of his sensibilities.

Throrgar looks around, taking in the scenery.
