OK lets try and look at this BoP card another way shall we :D

So you have a blessing for each non-combat based skill check:

Blessing of Torag = Strength
Blessing of Calistra = Dexterity
Blessing of Sarenrae = Constitution
Blessing of Irori = Intelligence
Blessing of Shelyn = Wisdom
Blessing of Iomedae = Charisma

Then:
Blessing of Desna that helps with recharging a card so this implies any recharge across the board for any card that has a recharge.(unless it implicitly says otherwise)

Then we have a blessing for each combat based skill check:

Blessing of Gorum = Strength
Blessing of Erastil = Dexterity
which the leaves the last blessing type...BoP which by process of elimination sits into the pile for spell based combat checks..............
Blessing of Pharasma = Spell (based combat checks)

Now of course the topic of conversation here is more about the wording on the BoP card...I understand that.
But for me I am playing it as my Spell based combat check. because I really believe that was the intention of this card - despite how it's written on the card itself....it seems fair this way too.

Me and my table top gaming friends have been getting together once a month for years now.
The first time in the history of our table top gaming sessions they said let's do this again tomorrow and that was said at 2 a.m hehehe
This game is so engaging and more-ish.
Tomorrow is our gaming night and the usual start time of 7pm has been shifted to 4pm as per requested by my gaming friends. lol

Enjoy your adventuring Captludd! :D

You can never play BoP on a Strength spell as the spell itself does not indicate which die to use. the spell gives a flat 3 bonus. For me the BoP card alludes to when your spell tells you to 'Roll your' Arcane(for example) die not 'when making a check' it's a subtle difference to interpret. remember it doesn't tell you to roll your strength die on the strength spell when you play it ergo no die to x times for Bop use again just the flat bonus of 3.
So when you play a BoP the spell in question should tell you to roll specific die in that moment.
same sort of thing with a cure spell....it tells you to shuffle 1d4+1 spells back into your deck, not 'roll your' Divine(for example) die to heal your cards back.

Imagine a spell called 'Greater Strength' that allowed only the character casting the spell to 'roll d12 +2 for your strength check' then because the spell indicates specific die for the spell in that moment, you could play BoP

This is how I have been using the BoP card anyway.

This is pretty unofficial, but I've said before that you should play a game in which you're having fun. If you're soloing, and the scenario doesn't give you a reward you can use, trade it in for a random reward. Try taking one random card from each boon deck other than loot, shuffling them up, and drawing one. Or do something else you like, within reason.

Like I said, unofficial.

Mike

First off thank you Mike for replying to me for a perhaps slightly unimportant (compared to other's at the moment) rule.

Secondly I am having fun playing this game! too much fun some might say.
I still like my adopted house rule of taking a 'favoured card type' :D

Thirdly I think we all have to take a step back and pull the reins on the horses so-to-speak.
I am 36 years young and was using the old D&D role playing system when I was 13 years old + right into my twenties....When I look back at the system I don't remember any rule interpretation issues(and there was) I just remember the great adventures and good times I had. Can you imagine the amount of forum rule threads the designers/developers would of had if there were forums back then when that system was released!!
Think about what we have with the base set + expansion BO + char add on deck with our first purchase/s. What we have here is a great base set with many locations and characters loot monsters etc.......what I'm trying to get across is if we had this game years ago we would have adapted, improvised and overcome any rulings and problems we came across -on our own!!- in a sensible thematic role play way and used the contents in the box to enjoy great adventures time and again.

Just have fun adventuring heroes :D I know I am.
Just give it time, it will work.

You are right you know - it's not all about rewards. although I like a shiney :D

Thing is. you can only go to the box for a basic card,(spell in this case) in between scenario's if you don't have enough of that type of card in your deck after the scenario. which doesn't happen often.
perhaps it would happen more with a character that doesn't start with a spell and doesn't find any.

I wonder if you have to take a party members spare card (spell) before you could choose one from the box?

Even when the card type of a reward is something you can use, your random draw won't always be something useful. I played Poison Pill with Valeros solo, and his weapon reward was a quarterstaff, which promptly went back in the box. Sometimes, the rewards are good. Sometimes, they're not.

Chances are slim you'll get anything you really really want for sure ;)

That's not the point.

The point is why give a reward that you can't even draw from the box?

C'mon the reward for completing a scenario has to be worth something, no matter how small or if you don't like the card.

The fact is that when completing the entire campaign(solo), some players(dependant on character) are going to look down at the reward section and say 'I don't get a reward'
Perhaps this was intended!? and that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

All said and done....Happy Hunting....I'm off to finish The Poison Pill with Seelah :D

Suck to be alone...

... Bring a friend next time, he would like the two draw on the reward.

Lol being alone doesn't always suck my friend :D

I am lucky enough that my partner plays this game with me too, I also have game nights with friends regularly.

Of course and I do enjoy the fact that we can share cards in between scenarios, also during a game too ( if at the same location )
However I am running a solo campaign with Seelah so I can never carry an item between scenarios, so the reward is irrelevant to me.

I agree there will probably never be a rule change.

Like I said for solo campaigns if the reward conflicts with your allowed deck build list, I'll take a 'favoured card type' instead.

Happy Hunting.

Hi,
I finished Brigandoom scenario last night(victory) and as such my reward was to receive 1 random item from the box.
Thing is Seelah cannot carry an item into the next scenario!! as I have to go down to my deck list from what I have gathered during brigandoom scenario + scenario reward.
It doesn't end there! Seoni cannot carry a weapon in between scenarios either, yet the reward for completing poison pill scenario is to draw a random weapon from the box!!
I had a look but couldn't find a post relating to this. (there probably is one out there somewhere)

I have decided to take a random blessing from the box instead as after all she is a paladin! (I know I know brigandoom doesn't reward any blessings)

Just wondered what peoples thoughts on this are?

Happy Hunting.

peace

Edit: I have decided to give Seelah a random armour card instead. I think until there is an official rule adjustment out there I will take a favoured card type as a reward if it conflicts with afore mentioned dilemma
