I really love the idea of the Blightburner kineticist, but the execution seems a little lackluster and I was curious if anyone had made any homebrew changes to the archetype? If not, anyone have suggestions? I was considering changing the focus from earth to fire, seems odd that the archetype deals fire damage with no way to really focus on it. Maybe some more radiation themed wild talents? Or a unique blast?
Here’s another Guts build from Berserk. Fighter 14/Urban,Invulnerable Barbarian 6 1. Ftr 1- Feats: weapon prof. Butchering axe, power attack, deadly aim
The idea is to use vital strike for big hits, cleave the mooks, and use world serpent to eventually not fall prone when firing his culver in arm gun, and to represent his affinity for fighting outsiders and monsters. Quick draw covers his dagger use, deadly aim helps hit hard; the option for ranged feats is limited due to the focus on melee. Any thoughts? I know the typical build uses titan fighter/mauler, but it didn’t appeal. Urban barbarian lends some flexibility, and the crowd control ability seems apt given his propensity for fighting crowds; invulnerable to represent his tenacity.
Hello, recently stumbled across the countenanced carbuncle line of feats, and am making lots of builds right now to explore the neglected corners of pathfinder. This leads me to a wacky limbs type character. Grippli tongue, carbuncle, maybe some extra eyes or heads? Not sure how to bring it all together yet. I have a eyebiter mesmerist with the possessed hand feats that I’ve been working on, and that hits some points, but let’s go wild! What are some wacky limb builds you guys have?
So, I’ve been toying with making an archetype for the inquisitor in the theme of using the enemies powers against them-The Radical. In my mind, it’s a mix of final fantasy’s blue mage, and radical (hence the name) inquisitors from warhammer 40k; basically a monster hunter that utilizes their enemies tricks and powers against them, learning as they go. I think this would make a good inquisitor archetype, as they already have monster hunting and knowledge bonuses, they have good mechanics for at will/adjustable bonuses, spells, etc. There are already archetypes that change the play style of inquisitors in significant ways (sanctified slayer, sacred huntmaser, etc), and a few abilities that I think could be poached/altered to make it possible to emulate monster abilities in a balanced way. Psychodermist occultist and flesheater barbarian seem like good starting points. Psychodermist gets its manifest ability pretty late. I wish it had a scaling ability. Flesheater barbarian is great, but only works with certain types and gives limited abilities. Mostly curious if anyone has any ideas on this. I’ve searched the boards some, and have found a multitude of home brews, 3pp, etc, but many seem to have too many moving parts, balance issues, etc.
Hello I’m theorycrafting a psychic marauder with the abomination discipline. I really want to lean into the dark half power, the feel of entering a rage like state to empower their spells; are there any good evangelist deific boons that go along well with this idea? Any other build ideas, dips (I know it’s frowned upon for full casters, but I love flavorful dips), feats, etc that would help cement the build? Thanks!
I know a direct copy isn't possible. But I'm curious if anyone has any good build ideas for a Sorcer-king like character. Sorcer-kings in Dark Suns are psychic/wizards that attained a dragon like form, and ruled over city states. I think I remember an old dragon magazine had a conversion to 3.5, but can't remember the issue, and would like an even further update to 3.P. Thanks all!
So, after seeing this, and having been recently thinking of the lack of Illithid in sf, I was beginning to reimagine them as still squidlike and parasitic, but also fungal based-kind of like cerebric fungi. This thought experiment leads down some cool and frightening avenues, including all sorts of fungal infection body horror, organically creepy technology, etc. What are some ideas you guys have along this vein?
Anyone got a good build idea for an Eversor assassin style character? I was thinking a wrathful warrior soldier, with some biohacker and the auto-injector alternative, for combat drugs delivered at the start of combat. Any other ideas? For those who are unfamiliar, Eversor assassins are a type of assassin from warhammer 40k, they’re basically chemically enhanced rage killers, used to send a very obvious message when eliminating a target. Thanks!
The general opinion on multiclassing in starfinder seems to be don’t, particularly with spellcasters. But when I look at things, it doesn’t seem too bad. The DC’s are basically static, your level doesn’t really change anything except higher stats, and eventually the spell level itself gets higher. So half those numbers (the bonuses from personal stats) will continue to grow. A spell focus feat, spell penetration, etc, and you’re basically on par with any other caster for several levels, sans the higher level spells. I know that bonuses of 1’s and 2’s makes an impact, and maybe I haven’t really tracked things empirically, but I’ve never noticed much of a difference. Failures are just as epic in storytelling as successes. I’ve personally moved away from min/max builds, and love creative, character driven builds; those often include dips or just complete pivots in character mechanics. I guess I still care about mechanically sound characters though, and just need help justifying multiclassing? The numbers don’t seem so bad. I have a build for a kind of psychic assault specialist, styled after a psyker/librarian from warhammer 40k:

Trying to find more info and ideas on personal restrictions, role playing a Kalistocrat, etc. Do you imagine Kalistocrats using augmentations? Would they need to be specifically created to maintain “purity”? Probably have some other questions but I’m curious what suggestions people have. Head cannon is more than fine, since I think lore wise they’re left mostly vague except for the touching thing, as far as I’m aware.
What it says on the tin! Just curious to get some help for a build, still newish to starfinder and there may be better ways to go about this, so any help is appreciated. The build concept is essentially a space monk, combining the Qi Adept Soldier with the Phrenic Adept archetype. Taking all of the psychic power feats at the appropriate levels, as well as improved unarmed feat and the corresponding soldier gear boosts. Possibly a dip into shield solarian for augmented unarmed strikes. This isn’t an optimized build, but I’d like it to not be total trash either. I’m not sure about the out of combat utility, except some of the psychic powers. Advice on this point would be particularly helpful, though I’m not sure how much out of combat utility soldiers have in general, haven’t really played the game a lot. Lots of theorycrafting. Thoughts? Thanks all!
Looking for suggestions on a build for Orfeo Culzean, from the Ravenor warhammer series. If you're unfamiliar, he's a facilitator for various cults, helping them achieve their goals through a variety of means. He also collects items that resulted in the death of other creatures, such as a piece of brick that fell and cracked someone's skull, etc. I'm thinking some kind of occultist, but I'm open to any suggestions! Thank you TDP
Been reading some lore, and got inspired. The vibe of the lowly Smokeside vs the high rising Skyside, separated by a river and chasm, really makes me think of how Piltover and Zaun were represented in the LoL show on Netflix. Also how technology reigns and magic is either distrusted, misunderstood, or unused. Curious if anyone else sees the similarity, and how you might run a game in Alkenstar with this theme. I’m not sure of many 1e resources or adventures. Any ideas? Cheers,
What it says on the tin. What are some of your favorite reskins you’ve done of classes, archetypes, feats, features, etc? Just curious. One of my simple go to’s is reskinning alchemist extracts and discoveries as technological contraptions. Pretty straightforward. Look forward to hearing your input! TDP
Any ideas on how to build or modify a class to recreate the DOTA alchemist/alchemist mercenary from Warcraft 3? I want to create a master-blaster type alchemist riding a larger creature, maybe able to use its mutagens on the creature instead of itself. Any help or suggestions are appreciated! Cheers!
Is greater blind fight really that necessary with the blinded blade tree? With my build (blind zeal, improved blind fight, blinded blade, blinded competence, blinded master; all by level three) I have plenty of space for greater blind fight, but am unsure if it really provides any benefit at this point. Thanks for any help! TDP
I often just scroll art and find character art that inspires a build, and recently came across this: Image I was thinking about making an Android necromancer/eldritch knight, but am curious what this might inspire in others. Post your builds or ideas! Cheers TDP
Hello! Long time no post! Curious if anyone has any ideas on a build for some kind of angry, telekinesis/gravity wielding hero (?), styled after Jack, aka subject zero, from mass effect. I’ve been looking mostly at the occultist and Kineticist classes, I also stumbled across an eldritch knight build that had some fun shenanigans with throwing weapons via telekinesis. I’m more interested in something that isn’t so completely a one trick pony, however. Throwing enemies as well as weapons would be nice. As well as random gravity blasts, and other biotic craziness from mass effect. Not necessarily interest in min/maxing, though those kinds of builds often offer plenty of ideas to pillage. I’ll post a sample build shortly. Any other ideas are much appreciated!
Hello, I’d like help with a character build. What I have in mind might not be effective, so any opinions on alternatives are appreciated. My idea so far is a cartomancer-dipped, hexcrafter magus, who focuses on debuffing any obstacles before assassinating his target. Can a cartomancer use the deadly dealer touch attack spell as part of a spell combat attack? What are some good build ideas for an ambush style assassin?

Hello all, I’d appreciate some help developing a couple of villains for an upcoming game. 1. The first is an NPC that is a kind of mastermind. He’s planted himself in the group and is secretly behind a lot of the trouble they encounter. I’d like help brainstorming different ways a double agent, voyeuristic, sadist type character could mess with the party. He’s a bit like the guy from Saw, in the room the whole time and kind of a background point til the very end. 2. Help with a much more direct, but equally chaotic encounter with an assassin. Looking to create a character styled after the adeptus arbites (warhammer 40k for those familiar, judge dredd like police for those not). I’d like help building a gun using inquisitor, perhaps mutliclassed with mad dog Barbarian (for the ferocious fetch). I know it’s not an incredibly optimized build, but I’m curious if we can make this work. I really like the aesthetic of a hard bitten detective with a loyal hound companion. Thanks! Cheers
Making a mini-boss for a side quest. Interested in making a goblin alchemist that rides an ogre, upon whom he somehow uses his mutagen (Possibly being the reason/cause of the ogre having the mutagenic rager archetype?). They're basically a masterblaster character, one relatively useless without the other. Any ideas on how this should play out mechanically would be appreciated! Cheers, TDP
Hello all, Been a long time since I've taken part in a gaming forum, bear with me! Just wondering if anyone has interest in helping me convert the old Warcraft 3 Dark Ranger hero into a Pathfinder Ranger variant or archetype. Or if anyone has seen one around the boards before. I've searched around for one, and I know there's an old Sword and Sorcery World of Warcraft Hordes Player's Guide detailing a prestige class that might be a good foundation, but I would like something more up to date. Thank you! Be well, The Dark Prince |
