I'm not a big fan of the whole favored enemy thing to begin with but it really should only come up when the Ranger is looking for his favored enemy or the GM is using it in the campaign. I feel the Ranger should have the ability to choose in an encounter who is his enemy and for that entire encounter (or death of said enemy)gain his bonuses.
For me Clerics should be as powerful as a wizard if not more so (they get a boost from the Gods) but they in a sense should be more limited. Magic is magic and you understand it or you don't. Once you master it you are limited only by the limits of magic. Clerics need to get help from the Gods and let's face it are the Gods always at the beck and call of the Cleric. Gods in most Fantasy settings are really there for the Clerics to get their spells from. Alot of the Gods are dealing with things within their own reals as well as in the mortal realms. Yes the Cleric prays to their God but does the God always listen? So for me the Cleric should be more powerful than any magic user but a little more restricted.
I know that I would love to see some Pathfinder Novels, I'm new to Pathinfder and have picked up a few books here and there (love everything so far). A few novels would help give me a good feel for the world and I love the iconic characters and think that they are worthy of having some of their stories told (who wouldn't want to read about a grumpy Dwarf Ranger and his badger?). So I put my vote in for getting some novels put on the shelves.
I was wondering if anyone had any info regarding damage to armor and how it affects the AC. I remember that D&D had some sort of rules regarding damage taken to armor and that if the attack dealt a certin amount of damage your armor lost AC and if it lost all it's AC your armor was so damaged that it no longer provided any protection. Will Pathfinder use something like this or will it be more like you take the damage and somehow your armor never gets a scratch? Just wondering, thanks for any info provided.
I have got into Pathfinder and have picked up the the Beta core book and the books for Second Darkness. I like the Seltyiel character and plan to make a similar type of charcater. What I was wondering was this, where do I find info on the Evoker class that Seltyiel has aquired in the Children of the Void book? The Fighter class no problem and I see the Eldritch Knight is in the Prestige Class but I'm lost as to the location of the Evoker class. Thanks for any help given.
My thought is this, Rangers should have a companion that is just a tough and versitile as they are. Why take a companion that can't really take care of themselves or their buddy when he is in danger. The companion should be able to progress in abilities and skills through experience just like the Ranger. The two together would learn to work together king of like other pack animals do. By having a Ranger only be able to have an animal that is half as good as a druids is kind of limiting the Ranger. In real life people who hunt bears with dogs wouldn't pick a dog that was half as good at hunting and dealing with bears as one that was trained and had experienced dealing and adapting with these types of situations. Again just my thoughts. |
