Liberty's Edge

Hey all,

So I am running my group through a kingmaker inspired adventure and they found a scroll fragment that details the summoning of a Void Lord (its an oriental themed game) now I would like the Void Lord to be summoned in a dungeon of some kind but im having difficulty thinking up a good one. I thought about using Rappan Athuk since it would make a fair amount of sense or possibly an upscaled version of temple of elemental evil. Any suggestions for a good dungeon to use? (any editions welcome)

Greetings you fine third party publishers! I was wondering if any of you had printed better stats for the crossbow or any crossbow variants in any of your materials? a couple of my players prefer crossbows to bows however in core pathfinder crossbows are mechanically inferior to bows.

Also do any of your fine wares happen to give love to some of the lesser used weapons such as flails, warhammers, spears and others?

And if not would there be any intrest in one. I was converting it as a pet project that i just started.

Hey all I was just wondering if any of you fine 3pp had come out with supplements such as asian bestiaries or just stuff on Oni. Looking through the core bestiaries all of the oni are either too powerful or too weak with maybe 1 or 2 mid range oni options.

Any suggestions or products that could help flesh this area out?

First i wish to apologize if this has been discussed to death.

So i was just discussing this with my players but why is it that characters who specialize in dex have to pay a feat tax if they want to use their main stat to hit? you dont have to pay a feat to use strength to hit or to add your strength to damage so why if you are a dex fighter (note im using fighter here as an all encompassing term for martials not just the fighter class)do you have to pay for weapon finesse and the agile enchantment (if its used in your games) to use this stat?

I am genuinely curious for a rules reason as to why a character cant choose at character creation to use either strength or dex to hit and for damage.

Hey all,

I was just wondering if any of you fine folks know of or have made a monk/ cleric hybrid class? I have a buddy who wants to play a divine monk of irori in an upcoming game but doesnt feel like multiclassing is the best way to go. any help in this would be appreciated.

so i recently made a continent map for a game that i will be running. It is asian themed and as i was setting the scale i figured 1 inch= 100 miles. But i will be darned if my continent isnt roughly 24inches tall and 26 inches wide when converted to miles that is roughly just smaller than the united states. How do you guys handle scale, population and territory or nations? am i just over thinking this?

So I have recently been reading the Tome series of books created for 3.0 and 3.5 and the idea of scaling feats seem really neat. The basic idea is that they scale along with your bab so martials get a more out of feats than a spell caster who is relying on their spells for utility.

Do any of you out there use scaling feats? what kind of balance issues would arise from using these in pathfinder?

So my players are going to stumble upon the keep of the paladins great grandfather who launched a war against the mainland. I want an outsider of some kind bound to the keep as both a caretaker and a guardian. Part of me wants it to be a devil of some kind but my only fear is that my group is kind of murderous of anything that pings as evil. Any suggestions?

Forgive me if this has been clarified elsewhere I have been looking through the forums and i cant seem to find a definitive answer on this.

Do mythic tiers effect your wealth by level since they change the APL of the party for the purposes of determining what they can and cannot fight? I have seen both sides of the argument but no satisfactory answers. any help would be appreciated!

So the Moaning Diamond is the only one stated up in the Artifacts & Legends books but what powers do you guys think the other 3 gems would possess?

Giving each of them control of their element seems reasonable, so control flame, control water and control Air(possibly even control weather for air)and would be able to summon a elder elemental of their type. The only one i really have a problem with is the fire gem. Since control flame manipulates fire that is already present it seems weaker than the others since unless your standing next to a volcano or are actively setting burning zombie chickens loose in a city to start a fire for you its kind of limited.

what about their negative effects?

Stone gives a +10 bonus to creatures trying to perceive you but what would the others give? im pretty stumped on these.

So I was looking at "The Primal Order" supplement that covers gods for a wide range of game systems and I was wondering if any one on here knew of any other good books in this vein? I am a hige fan of looking through the old AD&D material for inspiration and such gems as the OathBound setting and Al-Qadim have influenced me greatly as both a DM and as a player. So what are some good Source books that you feel everyone should read?

So I am dming a Psionics campaign using dreamscarred presses psionics rules. our party make up is a samurai/psion (psychoportation), a ninja, a psion (metashaper), a wilder (chaos surge), a monk of the 4 winds and a paladin.

right now the paladin player feels that her character is fairly useless in this group seeing as the psion and the wilder are built mostly for boom and the ninja the samurai and the monk are all about battlefield mobility and situational burst dps. the paladin was playing a dex based spike chain wielder but was disappointed by her low damage and lack of feats to offset penalties or trying to trip and perform maneuvers.

what would you guys suggest to help balance out this group a bit? or can it even be salvaged?

So I have been looking at the oriental adventures samurai and how iajutsu functions as both a skill check and as a function of a prestige class. why is it so hard to implement in pathfinder? The best function I can see of it is the sword saint archetype but even then the mechanics of it feel odd. for an archetype whos main schtick is the Iajutsu slash it does not offer any real functionality.

You can only use it once on an enemy you have challenged why could you not re-sheath the weapon and strike again? why is it tied to challenge? How would you fix the Iajutsu strike? personally I am keen to take the Iajutsu master from oriental adventures and adopt it as an archetype replacing the banner and mounted abilities from the current samurai. the other option I have seen is to simply adopt the Iajutsu skill from oriental adventures to pathfinder using set dc's as bonuses to damage.

So one of my players had a question and I am a little stumped as to the answer. They wish to use a spell that targets unattended objects on an object that is either falling or in flight such as a falling boulder or a missile weapon from a siege weapon. Such as to catch it or destroy it. so are these items considered unattended? (I want to say yes but i figured i would get some extra input.)

Hey all, So if this is has been covered before I apologize but in my session last night the party was in a city ruled by a pirate lord (this is a home brew setting) now the Quartermasters for the various vessels set up shop in this city when they are docked to sell their loot and in general improve the quality of the pirate fleet. There are non pirates in the city as well as dignitaries from the other two pirate lords.

Now with that set up the rogue in my party decided to steal from a Quartermaster he had met earlier in the day. After successfully getting past the security on the Quartermasters stall and getting inside he handily stole the quartermasters gold chest (it was just his on hand gold no more than 100-200 gp worth) and managed to break into the wares safe from which he took a mithril dagger, a iron wood dagger, a staff of some kind and a sword. Now of these items only the iron wood dagger is magical.

What should I do with this player? should i make him pay a in game cost for stealing a couple thousand gp worth of items? should i just settle at having the pirate company out for his head? what are your suggestions? and any suggestions for handling in game theft from NPC's?

Hey all,

So my party is heading to the tower of a wizard who specializes in time effects. He is currently incapacitated at the heart of his tower. What are some good monsters to throw around that deal with the time theme? they need to be appropriate for a APL 5 group. I was torn be tween dinosaurs and maybe something from the outer dark

So I am running a game set in Qadira and there seems to be very little information about Casmaron or the Padishah Empire currently in print. I have some ideas about what the empire is like but I am not a middle eastern history buff nor do I know much about the mythology. ( the campaign is revolving around a the parties lord starting a revolution to over throw the satrap and basically annex Qadira from the Padishah empire. the part will need to choose whether to stand with their lord or to stand with the empire whom they have held allegiance to their entire lives.) So I guess what I am looking for is what kind of place is the Padishah Empire and what reasons should I give my players to care about it other than its just the empire they grew up with?

Hey all,

I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for throwing some CR 5ish fey at my party who may be taking a detour into the first world for a little while. I am having difficulties finding any fey above CR 2 so I guess I am just looking for input.

So this came up in my game this past weekend when one of the players attempted to teleport while holding on to an immovable rod while it was activated. Now since an immovable rod can technically be moved with a dc 30 strength check would it slow down the teleport stringing out the teleportee? or would it drag reality behind it causing a sling shot effect if you let go of it? I wasn't sure how to rule on this but im leaning towards the dragging reality with option.

Thoughts?

Hey all, I was just wondering if anyone knew of a Holy Slayer conversion from 2nd ed. to pathfinder that has already been done or if I will need to up convert it my self. If I will need to convert it my self how would I go about doing so?

Hey guys,

So I have a Paladin in my game who took the Sacred Shield archetype, and he is proving to be exceptionally frustrating to gm for. Currently the group found all of the masterwork gear in the basement and sold it with the paladin taking a majority of the gold and buying the masterwork suit of full plate that stands as a decoration in the Ravengro General Store. So currently his AC is above 20 at level 3, and with bastion of good running I pretty much cant hit him at all unless I am running the ghosts of the five prisoners in which case with bastion of good on his touch AC is a 19. It also doesn't help he took the antagonize feat, and has been playing since second edition. In other words I'm at my wits end. Its very hard to run a interesting session, let alone a creepy session when the paladin runs in bastions of good the scariest thing in the room, antagonizes it and then as a GM I'm scrambling to try and make a CR 5 encounter somewhat threatening.

I know that this is what his class is meant to do but I need just a little advice on how to at least keep things interesting for my other players.

/end rant

Hey all i was just looking for some input. One of my players want to multiclass her oracle of life into some inquisitor levels for a little more martial ability. I was just wondering if it worth it for her to do so and what the drawbacks/ benefits of such a multiclass would be.

Hey all I am getting ready to gm my first major pathfinder game with Carrion Crown this coming Sunday. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice for running The Haunting of Harrowstone and if there are any surprises or complications that have arisen for anyone that the book doesn't cover.
