"Premade encounter groups, allowing Game Masters to quickly make use of the villains in each section."

This is what I need for when my players suddenly decide to "investigate" areas I haven't detailed yet.

Player 1 "Hey, there's probably a thieves guild in this city, right?"
Player 2 "That guy we sold some loot to obviously had connections."
All Players "We go shake him down, looking to discover the thieves guild's headquarters."
Me "Okay...."

I was able to page through this book at a friend's place last night (he's a subscriber).

It looks even better "in the flesh" than all these tantalizing posts hint at.

The wait is mentally agonizing. Perhaps I'll just sleep all day, every day, until it arrives in stores.

I would guess that one of the best perks of being high up in Paizo's pecking order is seeing your own character(s) listed in their NPC book, make an appearance in an adventure, and getting their own "official" mini.

Congratulations Erik.

Ghostrider reporting in. AC 130 is on station to provide close air support.

Ghostrider, this is Cousin. We have unknown aircraft inbound Mustang. Your vector zero-nine-zero for bogey.

The Mini-Mates aren't my style, but I feel compelled to buy Ostog the Unslain--primarily because I want to encourage Erik to indulge in this sort of thing more often.

Seriously.

Seeing the characters that the designers, developers, and everyone at Paizo creates makes me feel more at home in this community of gamers.

I gotta get this book!

If you think you might want this book, you definitely need it.

This is top-notch quality stuff. Congratulations Wolfgang and company for delivering the goods!

Clown Shape

School transmutation [circus]; sorcerer/wizard 5
EFFECT

Range personal
Target you
Duration 10 minutes/level (D)

DESCRIPTION

This spell functions like polymorph self, except you assume the shape of a Colossal clown with a space of 30 feet. You choose the general appearance of the clown (creepy, scary, horrifying, terrifying, and so on), after which your appearance cannot be changed. A detect magic spell reveals a moderate transmutation aura on the clown and a hint of seltzer water.

You gain a -20 temporary penalty to your effective Charisma modifier.

You gain the ability to juggle and a +24 profane bonus to the DC of any fear spell or spell-like ability you use.

Any creature attempting to use Survival to track you gains a +10 on their die rolls due to your unusually large and distinctive shoes.

I'm feeling good about how well I did in the competition this year. And I've improved every year I entered. So maybe next year will be my year. I'm definitely going to look into some other freelance possibilities as well.

I picked your entry as one of my top four and am disappointed and surprised that you didn't advance. You obviously took a great deal of time and effort.

I look forward to buying your freelance work.

Is there any estimated timeline for this? Even KQ's site merely says "Early in 2014."

With a name reminiscent of the River Lethe, is it any wonder Lethaquel was forgotten?

Hmmm... that sounds like the kind of thing a demon disguised as a message board poster might say.

... GET HIM!

So far only TWO of the towns in this book have been mentioned in this thread.

Hmmm... Obviously Mayberry and, um, Bedrock?

Is it August 15th yet? Close enough!

I can't express how excited I am that my very first product as a designer was pictured in the blog!

Congratulations.

I am a big fan of Kyle Hunter's Downer comic that Paizo published in the back of Dungeon magazines. I happily bought the graphic novel/softcover Downer Volume 1: Wandering Monster when it was available.

Sadly, Volume 2 was never published. I believe I read that Volume 1 didn't make enough money for Paizo to justify printing Volume 2.

But what if Paizo created a Kickstarter to print Volume 2? Would you support it? If so, how much?

I would happily spend $20 or $30 to hold Volume 2 in my hands--possibly more if the stretch goals interested me.

Is anyone else seeing the pattern I am? "Everything by Jim Groves is fantastic"

Congratulations! Now, can we find out what "AAAHH! EMBALMING BEAR!!!!" means?

Definitely an interesting item and I'm glad to see it earned a spot in the Top 32.

Best of luck.

I'm simply commenting on the existing base system, with more to follow on specific paths, feats, spells, ect.

Sure, but I appreciate your critical approach.

If you can pull this off, you will win Pathfinder.

But seriously, I would love to see this work well. Thanks for tackling this problematic area of gaming.

First, you must bring Erik Mona a shrubbery....

If a player adequately describes what their character is doing such that everyone at the table is entertained, they gain a +1 on the d20 roll--be it combat, skill check, spell resistance, etc.

They must sufficiently answer the question "How exactly are you doing this?"

The goal here is to be descriptive and to raise the level of fun for everyone involved. Players are not required to do this; if they merely say "I roll to hit," they don't get the +1.

GenCon Products

If you're looking for my products at GenCon, make sure to check out these places:

DriveThruRPG Booth 767: Look here for a number of Malhavoc Press products, back in print--including Ptolus! That's right, Ptolus is back as a print book, or rather books, because now the mammoth tome is a two-volume set. Copies will be extremely limited, so if you really want to pick one up at GenCon, I'd recommend getting over there early. Other print products include Monte Cook's Arcana Evolved, the Complete Book of Eldritch Might, and more. All of these--including Ptolus--will be available as print products from the DriveThruRPG website as well.

My impression is also that there's significant demand for it - furthermore, I think a "12-20 level GM book" would probably boost that demand by removing some of the stigma associated with high level play.

I would love to see more support for levels 12-20.

I would also buy books for levels 20+.

But I've never had veal at Xmas. :(

Is the reference map of the courts the "Poster Map" referred to in the book?

I want to own Volume 2. I want to have it in my own two hands. I am willing to pay real money for this privilege.
