"I too agree..." Tania adds, thinking to herself that their employer would know first though. A good contract and all...

Tania stiffens as the name of the former general is mentioned. So many stories she had heard, about the far past and the recent one, and so many hypotheses on his true intentions for the station and for its Belters...

Unable to speak, she stays with her mouth open, gaping at the living page of history flipping in front of her.

Thanks!

Tania smiles, but otherwise stays behind, leaving the talking to Tristan.

Yes.

"Miltec?! That is not good... So ask, then beg, then try around, in that order, ké? I'm no good with people, machine's my language. Who is gonna do the talking?"

Not really sure security will allow them access to the files they want, Yuri decides to look at the possibility of obtaining them in a 'different' manner.

Yuri will try to access the security system, but only to check their level of IC. He will attempt to leave no trail or alert anyone that he is there.

Love it!

"Then let's go talk to security!" Tania says, jumping at the opportunity.

And with that, the knot in her stomach loosened. She had never been on the wrong side of the law. White lies is all she knew herself to be capable of.

"I say we ask for permission to see the records? Theeeeen, may be we try another way, ké?" asks Tania, her mood darkening as she sees her fortunes slipping further away.

Tania leaves the place, giving a nice thank you smile as she departs.

"We go check the recordings then?"

I'm confused. Tania was examining the picture.

Tania likes pictures. She grabs the frame and examines it with a big smile, hoping it was taken on Earth.

Then her gaze wanders over the people in the frame.

Perception: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) = 12

Perception: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 5) = 14

Tania slides in behind Yuri. At first, she thinks of making suggestions, but she quickly realizes that Yuri's got things well in hand. She stays where she is, and instead focuses her attention on the other employees she can see from her vantage point, trying to see who's behaving strangely towards them.

Tania nods as the man speaks, reflecting about her parents, and how they were always good to her, and good bosses too. Pushing, but always rightly so, that a Belter may rise above to then, as they would never fail to remind her, reach down with a hand to pull her comrades up.

"So different... Could we see their desks? Or perhaps their personal effects, should these have been put away?"

Thanks for the heads up!

Is there a way to try and help and provide a bonus or reroll of sorts in the system?

"We're hoping to find him..." adds Tania from the back, trying to be helpful.

"Access to his desk would also help, most likely..." she puts in a heartbeat later, though her voice sounds too pleading, which makes her wince.

Tania stays behind Kiziah and takes a long look at the place, trying to get a feel for it. Do people look happy? Is it like a machine, precise, technical, or more organic?

"Now I'm curious to find that job offer, but I'm happy with the security footage too!" offers Tania.

Tania looks over Kiziah's shoulder as she negotiates with the terminal.

Tania nods and is about to leave, but then something comes to mind. At home, she always had a few tool in her room. Not a proper shop, but she liked to work on smaller projects.

She asks, looking at Kiziah: ”Did he ever bring work when he was home? Maybe he kept some project here to work on from time to time?”

Tania peels herself from the picture and turns to Yuri and the others as they ask their questions, realizing her dream of visiting earth one day and the million questions that go with it should wait.

"The Platte? Wait! Every summer! Wow, that must have been nice..." Tania replies, pushing away thoughts about gravity's effect on Belters' bones.

Tania looks around unapologetically. She’d never been in a scientist’s house and was curious of the differences.

In many ways, she felt she was like a scientist, except perhaps that her system was a closed one, with set answers. Yet, she was also a philosopher of sorts, and saw in the machine room for exploration beyond its boundaries. And navigation through the solar system...

The image on the wall, the river, and the fish, stops her musing, thankfully. Without thinking, she blurts out: ”A real river! Dhat is amazing! When was dhat? Did you take dhat picture?”

Tania’s ears perk up as the wife’s mood darken at the mention of the church.

She thinks to herself: Could they have welcomed their disappearance..?

With a small hop in the low gravity Kiziah starts to follow Tania. "Hey! How have you been? Any good pranks I should know about?"

She has a bit of a bouncy jaunt alongside Tania.

"Kiziah, so nice to see you! When Pryia told me we would meet again, I felt like a new page was being offered. So let's forget about the OLD pranks and focus on the NEW pranks this new venture offers us! I, for one, would like to know why the Mormons are still invested in this. Do they have other cards we don't know of? I'm surprised they're come to look for their scientists. Their job is over, no? But the Mormons have always surprised me. That long-haul ship, for example! And now it is gone! That's one prank all right!"

When they reach the door, Tanya slips to the back of the group. She preferred others to handle... well people.

"Cerri's home!" repeats the lanky Belter and she starts walking, hoping the others will come along.

For a moment, she wonders how she might feel should they stay there and leave her walking on her own. What would her path then become, she wonders.

Tania nods and smiles to Apostle Birch as they leave. "We'll find them," she says, then immediately regrets it.

Once outside, she asks: "Do we start with the wife?"

Same here. Not sure what to ask but a few leads.

Tania listens intently. She thinks on how, if it were an enngine failure, she would work out a diagnosis.

Tentatively, she looks at Pryia and suggests: "We could try and see what was their usual path of travel between work and home. Perhaps we can identify more precisely where they could have been lifted, then use security footage to get a better view of the spot..."

She feels uncomfortable speaking in front of stranger, and her mind shifts her attention towards the Mormon and their motive. It felt strange to her to see a group so traditionally opposed to the progress of science now, in many ways, on the cutting edge of it.

Tania smiles to herself. She now could guess what the expression 'like a fish out of water' felt like.

The whole room... It felt like a pocket of air at the bottom of the ocean. Just not air she could breathe.

No, it's backwards, she thinks, it's the man in front of him who's swimming among them, the fish, with his pocket of air keeping him safe!

With this realization, Tania's breathing settles. She looks to her friend Pryia and smiles, waiting for her to speak.

Kiziah: Nice!

Hi Pryia, sounds like a good plan. Perhaps there was some negotiations about the specifics of a contract?

Oh, I have an alternate idea. I missed how young your character is (even younger than mine!) so I was imagining you having dealing with my parents, but I actually think maybe our parents had dealings with each other, and you and I hung out when you had downtime on Eros. Going with a sort of "childhood friends who haven't seen each other in years" kind of thing - what do you think?

Priya and Tristan probably wouldn't have met until he was in civilian life with the Haoma Group working as a consultant. I like the idea of the big brother/mentor relationship though!
Cool, I dig that! Maybe I was interested in getting involved with the Haoma Group, and it folding + what happened on Eros has really driven me towards the more radical side of the OPA.

That sounds even better.

Sounds good Tristan.

Hi Pryia, sounds like a good plan. Perhaps there was some negotiations about the specifics of a contract?

Kiziah: great! We bonded during that time.

Kiziah, we might have met once in space for an emergency repair. Your ship or mine would have come to help the other, which would have been stranded.

Highlights for Tania:

The Belt, grew up on Ceres. Her parents had a small profitable shipping company offering personalized services to the wealthiest Belters and moving goods across the Belt.

Her parents recently sold their small company to a bigger conglomerate. Tania now finds herself without many day-to-day financial worries, but also without a job and without purpose.

She is resolved to find a job on a trading ship and realize her dream of flying across the great expanse beyond the Belt.

Thanks for putting this together. I look forward to it!

Dot.

Here is my character. Let me know if you have comments or suggestions!

Sorry about missing my turn. Thanks for the botting. Weekends are often busy for me and I tend to keep further from the threads.

Tania nods and gives Talli a smile, then whispers: "Then I sure want to be part of the vanguard. We move in silence and you loud ones rush in once we get the drop on them, yes?"

Stealth if all agree: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Tania replies in hush tones, suggesting: "If they kidnapped someone, diplomacy is already out of the way. First step should be to try to find our quarry without raising an alarm. Talli is front, she can try to sneak up on them and have a look to see if our man is here."

Tania nods at a job well executed. She clings to the shadows and lets Talli do her thing, keeping the rear once more, wondering what lays forward and whether their ward was still breathing...

Tania looks at Talli at the front to see if she needs help with the second door, waiting for her signal to approach if needed.

Tania closes the rear as the group sneaks forward, keeping an eye towards the rear.

The only objection I have about the Rule of Two is that maybe it should be suspended for more important decision, until we all have had time to weigh in: I live in Central European Time and I don't usually check the forums on the weekend, so I can often wake up to made decisions.

In any case, I don't want to be holding up the game, so if the choice is the left or right tunnel and I'm asleep, choose ahead, but if it's more important and plot-relevant I'd appreciate a moment to catch up.

That’s a very good point.

Tania nods at Talli, showing she understood and signals the heavy fighters to rush forth to catch the guards off-guard.

Both ideas sound good and can be used together.
