”Nasty fellow by the name of Zurnzul. He offered information in exchange for a favor to be called in for Torch at a later date. I will admit to accepting the information but I don’t see myself providing support for Torch or any of his minions. “

Grand Lodge

”I’d prefer not to loiter here longer than we have to...let’s secure our prisoner and turn him....her....it?...over to the proper authorities. Drinks are on me when we return!”

Grand Lodge

LOL...I missed the party is up as well!

Maintaining his bardic performance, Tal fires off two arrows at the fleeing creature imbueing it with arcane magic.

Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20, Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26, Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Grand Lodge

Sadly my rapier is sheathed.

Grand Lodge

Will: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

Fighting off the brunt of the negative energy Tal moves in to heal his nearly fallen companion as he continues his inspiring words. "Hold steady...this fight is ours!"

CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Grand Lodge

Tal continues bolstering his comrades. "Our weapons are greater than those of our enemies! Our magic is stronger!"

Tal casts Grease underneath Red's feet keeping the effect of the spell away from Mannak.

Grand Lodge

Tal begins bolstering his allies as he enters the room. "Brave Pathfinders...the game is afoot. Let Mannak's sword strike true as Xavier's magic confounds the evil ones. Magni, Zartina, Umrallon...write the words that will be sung of our victory this day!"

Inspire Courage: +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls and +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects.

Grand Lodge

It would be bad form to start inspiring courage before Tal actually sees danger, so he'll just nock an arrow and keep an eye out for trouble.

Grand Lodge

”As the old saying goes...’When the way forward is not the way forward, if you go to the right you’ll be alright.’ Of course whoever said that probably wasn’t able to come up with an apt rhyme for left...”

Grand Lodge

”While I don’t pretend to make the decisions for the entirety of the Society...rest assured I will do what I can to sway support toward Torch.”

Grand Lodge

Grand Lodge

"Well now only a fool would agree to conditions before they've heard them and, despite what the former Grandmaster may say about Pathfinder agents, fools we are not. Well, most of us aren't anyway. I once adventured with a fellow of Ulfen descent. He could certainly be foolish at times although I suspect anyone who would accuse him of such behavior lost use of an appendage or two for some time. But that's a tale for another day..and it will cost you a mug of ale to hear it. For now...what are these conditions?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11

Grand Lodge

"Ancient Osiriani...a scholarly language for sure but not one that is often spoken aloud these days. She's putting much emphaisis on the words for words "seek", "she", "spiral" and "death".

Tal cautiously approaches Mauta. "It is alright..we know you are not yourself and we are here to help."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Grand Lodge

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21

”The day we’ve had, sir? You’d be surprised what we would believe. Disembodied voices seem very possible...but what seems impossible is you accomplishing such things without aid or detailed instruction. So which is it, friend? We can not bring this to an end without the whole truth.”

Grand Lodge

Tal has a look around the shop as he walks in the shop.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

"As I’m sure you know an ancient tomb was recently excavated and...some odd things have happened as a result. We have been tasked with looking into these events. We were told that you had some misfortune occur that may have been the result of this excavation. We would like to hear your tale as the information you provide combined with that which we’ve gathered from other sources could help us solve this mystery. If we can manage to get things back to normal perhaps you’ll be able to rebuild your business."

Grand Lodge

”Please accept our apologies...it’s been a very trying day fighting our way through skeletons and animated statues and only one of us bothered to pack a suitable weapon for such things. We have some questions and we’re told you may have some answers. May we step inside for a few moments to talk?”

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Grand Lodge

"Our apologies for disturbing your prayers but no, we are not here to pray at this time. We were tasked with ridding the nearby ruins of evil spirits and, as it would turn out, we wound up in for more than we bargained for! Someday soon the tales of our heroics will reach your ears but, for the time being, our business remains unfinished." Tal describes his vision and encourages the others to share their own experiences when touching the horns. "Seeing as the Lady of the Graves were no small part of these visions your expertise in the interpretation of these visions would be greatly appreciated."

Grand Lodge

Tal shudders after he touches the first horn and describes the vision to his companions. "By the gods its as if I was on the battlefield with them!"

Grand Lodge

Tal cautiously examines the chest.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Detect Magic

Grand Lodge

Tal wanders over to Umrallon and heals him before examining the area.

"See this horrific figure here? This is a depiction of Ahriman, Lord of All Divs."

K: History: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

"These items are a mystery to me. They look familiar but I can't place their age or origin."

Grand Lodge

"Ahhh..the work of a cleric is never done. Wait..." Tal whacks Mannak with his Wand of CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 before addressing Umrallon. "You're next, big guy! Hey..where did you go?"

Grand Lodge

If you click on my profile and expand the campaign journal spoiler under my stat block you’ll see a list of scenarios I’ve played with this character.

Grand Lodge

Upon hearing Umrallorn's account of columns Tal silently curses the gods. "Another fight when what meager weapons I have are next to useless." Realizing he can do more good keeping the damage dealers up & healthy he retrieves his healing wand and moves in behind Mannak.

Grand Lodge

Talhaearn taps Mannak a few times with a wand.

CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

Grand Lodge

Although his last shot was futile, Tal hopes his next arrow strikes true.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Damage (magic & cold iron): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Grand Lodge

ooops...add +1 to attack & damage from PBS. Sorry!

Grand Lodge

Tal moves back into the room, puts a dash of magic on his weapon, and fires an arrow at the remaining skeleton.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Damage (magic & cold iron): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Arcane strike as swift action, ending inspired courage

Grand Lodge

Tal moves up behind Mannak. ”If you fall...we all fall. So try not to fall.”

CLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

Will update map when I can get to my desktop.

Grand Lodge

Tal continues to offer words of encouragement to his allies as he withdraws to a safer location.

"Birds of prey appear from beyond, the mightly Mannack bravely stands ground. Send these foul creatures back to their undeath!"

Everyone remember to take your +1 bonus to attack & damage!

Grand Lodge

With bow in hand Tal slinks into the room carefully avoiding the skeletal creature. He begins speaking in an attempt to bolster his allies.

"Brave Pathfinders entering a darkened tomb of horrors. The mighty Mannack; his sword will surely strike true. Umrallorn, stout warrior and keeper of strange magic..."

Inspired Courage:
An affected ally receives a +1 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +1 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

Grand Lodge

Tal examines the chest, then looks at Mannuk. ”In the absence of lock picking tools I believe Mannuk could be our key to opening the chest,” Tal braces himself for the roar of laughter that is sure to follow such a clever pun.

Grand Lodge

I posted once or twice yesterday and again this morning. So yes I am here. That said we’re expecting 16-20 inches of snow today so if I go dark it’s because I lost power or I’m shoveling!

Grand Lodge

K:Religion: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23

”These bones... Tal thinks out loud as he tends to do. ”These people suffered from multiple diseases...’twould be impossible for them to have remained alive long enough to contract so many deadly diseases unless they were being kept alive by magical means. That’s likely the reason these bones are so well preserved and are able to tell us their story. Fascinating!”

Grand Lodge

Tal examines the chest.

”As a student of all things ancient, including languages, these phrases make sense to me. This one reads “I will seek the Dungeons, find the screams, remember your name, KILL YOU”. Well that seems a bit dark! Now what have we here...” Tal pieces together several pieces of parchment and makes a series of low, guttural noises. ”Sorry...just clearing my throat.”

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

”These writings date back to the Age of Destiny, around seven millennia ago. Fascinating!”

"North it is...weapons ready and caution abound!'

Grand Lodge

"Looks like that well has gone dry...though not much water was there to begin with. Still knowing what you're not facing can sometimes be valuable in ruling things out. Best move on and see what Kehl knows."

"Good day...may I assume that you are the very Kehl of which the others have spoken so highly of? My name is Talhaearn Tad Awen; though I'd be pleased if you would call me Tal. Might I have a word with you regarding your experiences in the ruins?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Grand Lodge

”How did you fight it off? Should we have the unfortunate luck to encounter such a horror we would certainly appreciate the benefit if your experience. I would enjoy speaking with Kehl as well if you could help arrange that.”

Grand Lodge

"I have studied the ancient language of Osirion quite extensively. Hopefully the differences between the ancient and modern tongue may be slight enough for our purposes."

Grand Lodge

SM: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

"My good sir that sounds like a dreadful experience. How ever did you get away from such an encounter unscathed?" Tal encourages further discussion in an attempt to confront any inconsistencies with the man's tale.

"I'm afraid my knowledge falls short as far as what lies beneath Merab; however the people who currently reside on the surface are often quite religious and observe a number of superstitions. Citizens may be reluctant to speak of evil creatures...particularly with a group of strangers."

Grand Lodge

”Good day milady. My name is Talhaearn...although for the sake of brevity most call me Tal. I readily answer to either as luck would have it.”

Grand Lodge

Tal is ready!

Grand Lodge

That's what makes this such a great scenario...there are meaningful decisions to make that can alter the experience accordingly. Having a great GM and such an actively posting group was frosting on the cake!

Grand Lodge

It’s weird how quickly some of these scenarios run in PbP. We talked ourselves out of combat once...maybe twice. That tends to shorten things by a few days in PbP.

Grand Lodge

Well played everyone...and thanks for running the game GM Baerlie.

Grand Lodge

After finishing his tale of the misplaced heiress Tal recognizes a familiar face as he collects his tankard full of coins. ”Agon my good friend! And here I thought I was going to have to drink alone! Come help me spend some of this coin! Say...did I ever tell you about the time I battled giant ape I found in a museum? It was about three years ago...”

Grand Lodge

Just checking in....

Grand Lodge

”Thalia...I’m afraid you have an important decision to make. Seems unfair considering the ordeal you’ve already gone through; but then again being born into a powerful family does have its challenges as well as its privileges.” Tal spares a look at Koriana before continuing. ”While I may not know if this woman speaks the truth, I am confident that she believes it to be true. Should you wish to remain here with her we will not prevent it; after all that would make us kidnappers and hypocrites. However should you wish to leave we will ensure your safety.” Tal makes a show of putting his hand on the hilt of his rapier. ”Whatever it takes.”

Grand Lodge

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Tal refuses the offer of refreshment. ”Thanks just the same my lady; but without fermentation juice is just, well, juice. As for leaving Ms. Andares with you? I’m afraid I don’t traffic in humans. She can speak for herself and is free to remain with you if that is her choice. Should her choice be to leave I intend to see that she does so without impediment.”
