Taldo the Tanner Ok, this one seems to work. With the crunch here, I'll get the fluff on his Paizo page here in a little bit.

I'm still not sure, I was considering a 'Tanner' but I don't want to be too stereotypical.

Caster4life covered the crunchy questions, let's talk a little about fluff. You said our characters were kidnapped. Can we get a little more information on that?

What circumstances led to their kidnapping?
Where were the kidnapped from?
Are they all from the same place or were they kidnapped from different places and have been held for different periods of time.
Would they know each other?
What circumstances led to their being shipwrecked?
You said no 'starting gear' would the items they normally carry on their person be near in the wreckage?
Would any of their captors be marooned with them?

Edit: I may have missed this question, but if so, I'm sorry.

I am planning on running this with NPC character classes (Adept, Aristocrat, Commoner, and Expert) with the goal of ending the adventure with everyone earning their first level in one of the CORE classes.

Did you intentionally leave the NPC character class 'warrior' out?

Just an interest check for now...

Gosh Imaginary, I think you'll always find some interest, I know I am. Taldo here seems to be created for a game such as this. Though I'm not sure why someone would kidnap a lowly tanner.

I sort of feel like I've done that once...

Sadly Lucian has returned to the wheel in a shadow dimension so he and Taldo will not be able to join this game. But the wheel turns and there are others.

Ummm, define soon?

I've been reading along enjoying everyone's perspective on characters, feedback, PBP Vs. TT and recruitment styles. Fun reading.

But unless our esteem GM moves up the date, we've got about a week.

Ok, this is RH's Aasimar Bloodrager, Taldo the Tanner. I believe everything is in order, GM please let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

Bran is correct it is a daunting number of applicants. Good luck and good gaming all!

DM rel20 my apologizes, the more I work on Taldo's backstory, the less interesting he becomes. I'm going to remove myself from the application process. Thanks for running the game, Good luck and good gaming everyone.

This is the crunch forRH's half-orc Soulknife, I will work on the fluff tonight and in the morning. He will be a local, living in the Olfden area. Abandoned as a toddler, found rummaging through the dump by a cleric of Erastil, he will eventually adopted by the local tanner.

DM rel20 wrote:
What aspect of Necromancer are you looking for? I’m guessing minionmancer, in which case then I’d have to ask does it have to be animate Dead or are you ok with just summoning stuff? The Nightblade has a Dark Conjuror archetype that might appeal to you.

I really wasn't sure, I had been reading a series of books about a necromancer and was intrigued. I really like the 'white necromancer' but I felt the spell limitation was debilitating. Almost went Hellion or Death Mage, but I felt like they would be darker than I wanted to play, especially for being from Andor.

I prefer full BAB classes, and if I get in the game this will let me try out a Soulknife, which I've been thinking about for a while.

Raising a eyebrow as the Ogier dismantles the wall and door, Taldo looks down the alleyway. "Well done." He looks back where the others have the spy handcuffed on the table. Shrugging, turning back towards Chen, he gestures towards the narrow alley. "I will check and see where it goes." He then moves slowly down the alley, keeping a keen eye out as he goes.

taking 10 (26) on perception

Sorry, assumed someone would post 'dealing with the spy' while Taldo investigated the room.

As Jedric, Fiallain and Ryvin deal with the spy, Taldo returns from his investigation of the room. He moves near Chen, getting the Ogier's attention. "I don't like not having an exit." He points towards the old outline of a large door on the backwall, hidden behind a hasty remodel and several crates stacked in front of it. "Would you be interested in seeing if we can open that doorway back up?"

Are folks waiting on Taldo to tell them what he found? I figured it would take him a while so was waiting for the people to deal with the prisoner... either way, I will post tomorrow.

Taking the manacles from Fiallain, Taldo carefully puts them on the prisoner, making sure they are good and tight. He steps back as Jedric picks up the man, following them toward the dark building. Embracing the source, he draws his sword doing weaves of air and fire for 'wand of fire' he ties it off on his drawn sword, Using the sword as a he steps into the building. The stench causing him to catch his breath, he leads the team down the corridor eventually entering the large room.

Pointing towards one of the tables, "There's as good a place as any, I'll check the room." He then moves around the room, looking for anything unusual; or anything that might help him understand the buildings present condition.

'Yes what did he say?' Taldo looks expectantly form Fiallain to Ryvin. 'Death before dishonor?' Taldo squints his eyes as Lucian begins to laugh manically in his head.

Watching as Chen drops the man and ultimately turns him over to the others. As Fiallain gives instructions, Taldo looks to her. "I hope you have him." He then begins to frisk the man, relieving him of all possessions. 'Not half as gentle as the Ogier? Well she is Aiel, he has no idea what he's in for.'
he'll take 10 (26) on perception searching the Seanchan

if all goes well
As Jedric trots off, Taldo turns, "I have no rope or manacles, does anyone have something I can bind him with? If not I can use his own belt."

Watching as Chen lifts the man, threating to destroy him, Taldo tries to understand what the Seanchan is thinking.

sense motive: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21meh

'Walking away doesn't help the Lord Dragon.' Taldo turns back towards the group as Faden declarers they are at an impasse. Closing his his eyes as Lucian begins to scream in the back of his head. "Kill Him! We need to kill him now!" Squeezing his eyes tighter, 'Shut up! We have other options.' His eyes still shut placing his hand on his forehead, as one does when they have a very bad headache, Taldo speaks up. "We should turn him over to local authorities. He's a Seanchan spy and we are at war with the Seanchan's." He opens his eyes he looks at Chen. "I know Rand. He will never bow." Gesturing towards the prisoner "If the authorities learn that you have released him, they may consider you a spy. Would you rather be fighting the locals, or trying to stop your countrymen?"

cool, I think I ninja'd you :)

So this portion of the game started with Rand and company cleansing Saidin. Which happened in "The Winters Heart (book 9) The battle for Allara, where Rand used Callandor against the Seanchan army is in "The Path of Daggers" (Book 8) so Rand and the Seanchan are activly at war,

"Facilitate the introduction to proper intermediaries to the dragon? They are at war!" Looking dumbfounded, Taldo turns from Chen to Jedric. "Your 'Car'a'carn' is actively at war with the Seanchan. These woman he's after posses secrets that Your 'Car'a'carn' can use to subdue that enemy so he can lead you against Sightblinder." He points at the man on the ground. "The light has blessed us with a gift to give your 'Car'a'carn'" He then gestures towards Chen. "And this Seanchan wants to either destroy this information or keep it for the Seanchan in their war against your 'Car'a'carn.'" Glaring from the man on ground to Chen then to Jedric. "You need to decide which side your on." Taldo spits and walks away, releasing the weave on his blade he sheaths it as Lucian's laughter echo's in his head.

Wow, Ryvin, take care of yourself!

'Destroy the threat? Does he mean the buyer, or the seller or the woman or where the a'dam's are manufactured?' Concerned Taldo looks from the Ogier back to Ryvin. "What if the buyer is a representative of the Lord Dragon himself. This information is too valuable to destroy, Ran... the Lord Dragon needs to have access to those A'dam." He looks back to Chen, "Or at least make the decision to destroy them or not."

'Need your arms or legs?' appalled, Taldo steps near the seeker lowering his blade so the man can feel the unnatural heat coming off of it. "Just as a spy doesn't need his to tell us what we need to know." When Taldo stops speaking he can hear Lucian laughing in the back of his head, he tries to silence the sound, but is unable to.

'We should aid him?' Looking from the Aiel to Chen, Taldo blurts out "We should not aid him! We should capture this person ourselves and provide the information to the Lord Dragon!"

'Where the a'dam are manufactured! That information could help Rand win the war!' Taldo looks from the Seanchan to Ryvin, as Lucian gloats. "and you want to keep him alive so he can stop her! Ha Ha Ha!" 'Shut up! I didn't know!' Looking wide eyed from Ryvin to Fiallain, he whispers to the Aiel woman. "She's right we may have to kill him."

Seeing Fiallain study the stranger, Taldo turns watching the man, listening. 'No military guy? "He Lies they are all military, their here to conquer, they must be stopped.' Ignoring his alter ego, Taldo looks from the man to Ryvin. 'the dragon lord fought them, I wonder if this traitor would side with Rand or serves the dark lord.' He looks from the man to Ryvin, 'sweating?' Then to the Ogier. 'Order?' Taldo looks from the Ogier to the 'seeker' waiting for answers as Lucian stills, waiting to hear of the betrayal.

Looking from Fia back to Ryvin, "Whatever the purpolse, there is still no reason to kill this man in cold blood." He gestures towards the town. "We can turn him over to the proper authorities." As he says 'proper authorities. Lucian begins to laugh again.

Not seeing anything out of sorts in the alley or the surrounding buildings, Taldo walks nearer the prisoner, as Ryvin weighs their options. 'worth the trouble? Just slit him?' "Slit him! kill the bloody Seanchen that is what he would do to us! Kill him!" Bending over and placing both fists, yes he's still holding the very hot sword in his right hand. over his ears. 'Shut up! Shut up!' the voice stops as quickly as it starts. Taldo stands upright, and watches the prisoner, trying to understand what he said.

'A'vron'mord? these others?' Looking from Jedric to Chen. Turning to Ryvin as she asks 'who's a death-watcher.' Lucius begins to laugh manically "Ha, Ha, Ha,' Gritting his teeth, Taldo turns from them, 'Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!' Quickly regaining control he Moves near Fiallain. "If Jerdric isn't the reason were here, it must be this one." He looks from Fia to her long time companion, Ryvin. "We need to keep him alive."

Since Taldo hasn't been with them very long, he assumes Ryvin would seriously consider killing the man, because his alter-ego would.

'Blood and bloody ashes those Aiel are fast.' Running after the Aiel, Taldo would occasionally loose sight of them. 'Good thing Chen is so tall.' But he would not lose sight of the Seanchen Ogier. Rounding the corner behind the Aiel and Ogier, Taldo sees Jedric standing over the 'Seeker of Truth'. 'By the light, I hope this one is alone and this isn't a trap.'

Doing the weaves of air and fire for 'wand of fire' he ties it off on his drawn sword, As he nears the others, he looks around the street and buildings looking for anything suspicious.

Looking slightly confused, Taldo raises an eyebrow, "So what can we do to help?"

Seeing the Ogier stand and move through the crowd, Taldo shrugs and sets down his nearly full stien, "I don't care for ale much anyway," and follows Chen out of the building and towards the barn. 'A seeker for truth? Find him or move on to avoid him. Isn't it a little late for that?' looking both ways searching for any clue of the man.

Biting his tongue he nods in agreement with Fiallain's question. 'Short man, dark hair bowl cut, tattoo. "Great he could be anywhere." Scowling at the words, 'white cloak's questioner, Taldo shuts Lucian out of his mind. Nodding in agreement with Ryvin, "Bastards is right. I'm not one for leaving my friend in a lurch." Looking around, he asks, "What? I was told to stick with you, so I will." Then looking at the Seanchan Ogier, "that means you too Chen."

perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 17 well that's a terrible roll

Slightly earlier
'Or did not know herself, that's a very real possibility.' with his back to the room Taldo hadn't originally noticed how rowdy the room was getting, until someone banged into the back of his chair causing him to spill some of his still full ale. 'This place is fuller than I realized, I wonder if it's always this ... rowdy.' He turns back looking at the others. "So how do we find who the letter ..." Then all hell breaks loose.

I will respond to Chen yelling "Quiet" after we get the results of the roll. Did anyone in the party get involved in the chum, specifically was Taldo injured? Just asking because physical injury triggers the unmakeable will save roll...

I've never played a game with 'Renown' before and was hoping Rizz would tell me if I calculated mine right or not. The question that comes to mind is how many levels did the team earn when they were in 'other worlds;' since it's the characters level that produces renown. If they were a much lower level when they left this world, would Jedric have heard of them? Just a brain worm I couldn't let go of, either way it obviously doesn't effectively change anything, but I couldn't let it go. Also, I'm not surprised Jedric hasn't heard of Taldo but I am surprised that he didn't react to the 'asha'man' coat and pins...

'May you find water? My water is yours? I have toh?'' Looking from the Taardad Aiel to Flallain. 'Obviously polite greetings' Taldo senses Lucian rolling his eyes, "Obviously you dim wit." Shut up and let me listen!' Glancing over to Ryvin and Chen as he greets them. 'So he's heard of these four, that puts him one up... Swallowing hard, as the Aiel look directly at him, 'Good man? Welcome under their roof?' He looks from the man to his new companions, shutting out Lucians loud scoff. 'Yeah I don't know about that, I wouldn't be with them except for that blasted letter.'

Relieved that Jedric began talking to the others, Taldo's gaze returns to his still full ale. Stone dogs, them I've heard of. But since these folks just returned from another world two days ago, I'm not surprised they have no information... Short on oosquai and welcome to join us? Is he the reason for the letter from Min?'

Contemplating his own thoughts Taldo looks up startled when Jedric announces he had hoped to hear about the Car'acarn. 'That's what the Aiel call Rand. "You will not tell him about the Lord Dragon, You don't have.." Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! I will talk to whom I please!' Squirming and clearly uncomfortable, Taldo slides his hands off of the pint of ale and places them flat on the table, using the source to calm himself, then releasing it as he sees the man sit down and join them.

'An honor to fight you? I don't know who has stranger ways, the Seanchan or the Aiel.' Waiting politely while Chen greets the newest member of their party, Taldo clears his voice, "My friends call me Taldo." looking at Fiallain then back at Jedric "Since Fiallain thinks your ok, I guess it wouldn't hurt to give you a little information." Lifting one hand off of the table, "I've only been with these four for two days. Before that I was with Ra... um ... the Lord Dragon, I guess the Aiel call him the 'Car'acarn.' I'd be happy to fill you in on a few things later."

Placing his other hand back around his pint of ale. "When you walked in we were discussing a letter we were given by Cadsuane, a member of the green ajah that is traveling with the Dragon Reborn." He looks over to the letter, gesturing towards it. "It's the reason we're here."

In Ryvin's case, what neckline Taldo can see is actually the collar of a sturdy dress of black wool -- buttoned up to the chin. The chainmail shirt she wears over the wool is not very fetching, either.

It's not a total loss, though; Taldo has a fine view of the leather collar Ryvin wears.
It's the kind of broad collar usually reserved for big dogs. The kind used to guard places. It's got spikes on, and anyone who tries to grab Ryvin by the neck is likely to have a very bad day.
Love the description. I was looking for a way to show Taldo's nervousness/insecurity while using the physical descriptions on peoples character pages. Having him look away from a leather, wool and metal covered neck line just makes it awesome.

Hearing the voice behind him, Taldo turns, 'What the ...' forcing himself to not jump out of his seat. LOL, thanks for the explanation!

'Weren't properly introduced? I really don't remember. We've been traveling together and I heard the others call her Ryvin but introduced?' Taldo could feel Lucian shaking his head in disbelief as Taldo focused in the introduction part. She's telling us she can use saidar you idiot not being polite!' Oh...'

Taldo looks up sheepishly at the short dark-haired woman. "Oh. um nice to meet you?" he begins to look down realizing his eyes had lowered to her olive neckline. He quickly looks back toward his pint of ale. 'Ran with some of your lot? managed to do them some good?' Give it a try? She must assume I don't feel well because I'm not drinking a lot.'

Blinking Taldo looks rather confused, looking up at her face, shrugging. "I'm feeling fine, I'm just drinking my ale slowly because I don't like to lose control. Bad things happen when I lose control." He smiles. "My friend Flinn is an excellent healer. He taught me some of the healing weaves. So I'm able to look after myself mostly."

'Any one knowledgeable of future events?' Grasping the pint of ale with both hands, 'A wetlander who follows the 'car'a'carn ? Ah, she's Aiel she means a normal person who's with Ran' Licking his lips nervously, 'I wonder is she means Min. "Boy keep your mouth shut, these strangers don't need to know anything about the Dragon Reborn." He looks up quickly from his ale towards Fiallain, 'I can provide information without giving them anything to use against Ran, Just stuff everyone knows.'

As Ryvin begins to speak, he glances at her then looks back to his ale. 'All sorts of Talent?' He looks up at her giving a quick smile then quickly back down at his pint. "Old Harpy, she's got that right!" Smiling, not wanting to agree with his alterego, Taldo focuses on the rest of the conversation. 'Look around town? Maybe the person will come to us.' Lifting the stein to his lips 'That's true, whatever we do the wheel will keep turning...

Realizing the woman for Ebou Dari had began speaking lower, he looks over the stein toward her, his eyes widen when he realizes she is talking to him. 'Have I tried it yet?' Lowering the still full pint. 'How do you describe the greatest feeling in your life?' He looks from Fiallain to the others at the table, realizing all eyes were on him. 'How do you describe being addicted to the greatest feeling in creation realizing it will kill you, but still needing it anyway? Then that greatest feeling is cleaned and full of life.' Taldo nods, "Umm, it feels...Cleaner?"

Dropping his head, 'Well that's the dumbest thing ... Shut Up!' Looking back up he turns to Fiallain "I know her, the woman you were talking about." He shrugs lightly, "I don't know if she sent the letter or not. But I know her. Her name is MIn. She's Ran's ... um girlfriend?" He looks back toward Ryvin "I've seen her make some viewings. Not to everyone, just ones that she felt so strongly about that she had to say something even if I was there." He lowers his gaze and quickly takes another sip of the ale.

Sense motive?:
So I'm not sure what to tell you in response to the sense motive. He has a split personality, that's how his madness manifests, I don't know enough about the true disease to necessarily be accurate so please forgive anything that is too out there.

Also, depending on if you were able to see of him during the earlier combat. I'm assuming Lucian hasn't manifested since then.

As Lucian, he wears his coat buttoned and the collar up and his hair in a pony tail. His face looks much older than his 30 years and his eyes are a cold light almost white blue. Lucean deals with conflict and is a killer. As Taldo he wears his coat open and his hair down. His face looks younger and his eyes are darker blue and warmer. Taldo acts submissive and shy, Taldo wants to focus on healing and helping. They are both loyal to Rand.

As for what you could see with the sense motive, I'm not sure. He clearly is insecure and self-doubting. But is very honest and open.

I'm good with you 'sensing' all of it or little of it, depending on how you want to play it.

Hey Rizz, posted this question earlier, didn't know of you saw it or not.

Ninja'd by Rizz, not changing the post but will ask a follow up question. Taldo/Lucain would know Min, How familiar would he be with her ability to do readings? Would he have gotten to know her well enough to know we are in her home town?

Earlier
'I can't believe the Lord Dragon agreed with Cadsuane that I should stay here with these people. "It's all you fault! If you Hadn't ran off..." Closing out the voice in his mind, Taldo, looking dejected, 'I wonder what he meant when he said that 'maybe I wouldn't end up like Fedwin Morr.' Watching as Cadsuane hands the one named Fiallian the letter. She was warned... should we be successful, So saidin, the male half has been cleansed. The young Lady? I wonder who gave it to her?' Watching as the people he had been traveling with leave, he turns toward the Aiel woman Fiallain as she reads the note and Speaks to the ones named Rhoekk and Amorial...

OK making two assumptions as we traveled to Baerlon, 1. We all read the letter. 2. We've gotten to know each other well enough that we are on a first name basis.

now
'I wasn't sure I'd ever see Andor again, let alone go to Baerlon, it's much more provincial, than I expected.' "talk about stating the obvious." Brushing his loose hair out of his face, Taldo ignores Lucian's Insult. 'Never expected an inn here to be this crowded. "'Yet you chose to sit with your back to the door." Rolling his eyes, at himself, 'I ... we .. are amongst friends here, we don't need to be worried.' He shifts in his seat, ignoring 'Lucian's scoff, tucking his open coat behind him. His eyes falling on the Senchan Ogier sitting on the floor, 'and one of them is a 'Gardner' he must be miserable sitting on the floor.' about that time he noticed Chen looking at him and hearing him mumble something but not quite making it out, Nodding poitely. 'Tough fighters, I'll give him that.'

Moving his sword scabbard so it stopped banging between his leg and Fiallain's, he see's Chen lift his cask for a refill, he looks down at the ale he had barely sipped, frowning at it. When the Ogier asked about the note, Taldo turns to Fiallain and asks, "I did notice that the note mentioned everyone by name, but used the nickname Fia for you, is it possible someone your close to wrote it?"

At over two hundred foot, the figures were not as easy to see as he would have liked. As the larger one neared, Taldo begins to identify the creature charging him. 'Is that an Ogier? Blood and ashes that's a Seanchan Gardner..."Immolate it! Immolate that Seanchan back over the sea!" Shut up! Shut up! let me think!'

As the boy tries to decide what to do about the giant armored Ogier charging down on him, he feels the ground rumble underneath him. Catching his balance as a large rock bouncing down the hill crushes against his leg and side, breaking ribs and injuring his hip. 'Someone must be channeling....' "their forsaken! Of course someone..." The inner dialogue between the two halves of the Asha'man stops, as he is thrown into a frothing panic. Holding his sword in a death grip for a last line of defense, he flees south from the hill, the darkfriends atop it and the charging Ogier.

Since the 'panic in the WoT manual says if he cannot flee he will attack instead of cower, I had him hold onto the sword. If you think he should drop it, he will the next round.

Hey Rizz, not sure if were giving the other two time to catch up for this round or not, I'm waiting to the last moment to post to give them time, but I need to take my mom to a doctor's appointment.

Is Chen close enough to have intimidated Taldo?

Either way, If I don't get back in time, he will take two move actions south trying to draw them away from Rand and into a moving battle where he may have a chance dealing with them one by one.

The slope is roughly 20 degrees, though in some spots its about 60degrees. Taldo stands at the southeast section of the treeline, obscured from those above by the tree cover

So two acres 200 ft away but elevated, the weave has a 50 ft radius. So when he stepped out of the tree line, he would be able to hit them and they would be able to see him?

I had forgotten to post Taldo's/Lucian's personality/appearance on their page, that has been rectified. Still working out the kinks on how to play in 'insanity.' Will follow the outline rulebook, still working out what it will look like in game.

I don't play a lot of casters and this is my first attempt for a channeler in WoT. Any recommendations or observations would be appreciated.

Interesting idea Chen, Taldo/Lucian have access to two fourth level weave (which would allow to use that weave at 6th level) curious to know if Rizz would let us give it a try...

Taldo:

so how far away are they?

'I'm glad I'm wearing my best pair of boots, I didn't expect to be walking but Finn had a good idea about leaving the bay with the other horses. If I get in a fight, it would be hard to concentrate and ride at the same time.' Holding his black leather coat closed, the wind causing his long dark hair to swirl around his face. Taldo shudders at the surge of Saidin ripples through him. "They've started, do you feel it boy?"'Shut up! Blood and ashes, of course I feel it, Shut up and let me do my job.' Turning his face into the wind, towards where he knew his friends were, trying to purify Saidin, Taldo embraces the one power, the sensation of sheer joy rippling though him., increasing the realization of the waves of Saidin that are coming from the north. "Yes, Yes, yes!" 'Shut up! Shut up! I need to concentrate, I can't have you screaming in my head! I need to focus! Flinn said to expect an attack! How am i supposed to concentrate with you screaming in ...'

As he pushes thought the waves of power, Taldo having turned toward his friends now focuses on the ridge line. 'Who are those..."Kill them! Protect the Lord Dragon at all costs!" 'We don't know who they are! "You child, you must protect Rand and Finn and the others. Kill them!"'Shut up!' Running through the snow, towards the ridge and the group of strangers, His coat blowing open, Taldo draws his sword as snow finds it's way into the top of his well-made leather boots, he weaves earth and fire channeling 'wand of fire' onto the longsword, tying the weave off. 'I will do my duty! I would have rather stayed near the others and help Flinn heal people, but I will do as ordered!' As Taldo weaves Earth and Fire together he can feel Lucian's smug smile. As soon as he is within range he points his left hand at the ridgeling, releasing a wave causing the ridge itself to open up.

Weave: Riven Earth: Range Long: 400 ft. + 320 ft more, so 720 ft, so basically 1/8 of a mile.
6th level, using a 4th level slot: Reflex safe: 19 Damage 3d10. Do I roll damage and everyone gets the same, or do they roll?
damage: 3d10 ⇒ (7, 9, 9) = 25
edit: until told other wise, I'm assuming he can cast first level spells that he has all the affinities for and strong talent for at -1, so free....
