Actually, without Donavaan, we have a majority saying not to tell them. If that's the way the party votes, then I'm fine with that.

Taeon shrugs. "I can't say that your arguments or fears of the ghibrani's reaction aren't founded. I'm just saying there are other possibilities too. But if the rest of you think we ought to bring this to the Venture-Captains, then so be it."

Which one is the sequel? I'll have to go on Taeon's list to try.

"If we don't tell them, then this is still here. At some point, a ghibrani will either become curious enough to violate the rules like Klarima did, or the mainframe will continue to breakdown and they will be forced to enter. Most likely it will be a membrane. Then one side will know and the other will not."

Taeon downloads all the data to his personal computer. "Are you sure? Shouldn't this be history that all the ghibrani know? It might upset them, but otherwise, they'll never know what happened and why they have become like they are. Perhaps it could spur them to scientific and medical breakthroughs."

Taeon rushes in and takes cover. He pokes his head out, drawing his pistol. His voice sounds in your heads. These things look like both the membranes and husks! And they aren't happy. They want us to leave or be terminated.

Taeon quickly come to tend to Roddy, pulling a salve from his medkit to help ease the burns. "Be careful! It seems this place is intent on keeping out any curious Ghibrani"

Taeon likewise tries on one of the overalls over his clothing. "Who knows what customs there might be." He wiggles his arms through one of the insect arm holes.

"Alright, ready to go in?"

Taeon accepts the share language spell and heads into the structure with the others. He examines the signs and reads the Ghibrani language. "You're right. These all warn them to stay out. It seems like it indicates a hazardous worksite."

The doctor approaches the coveralls to see if they are made with any specific function in mind. "I think these are made to be worn inside. A clean room perhaps?"

Taeon can use the pistol if no ones else wants it. But he's less of a fighter than others are.

"I don't know..." Taeon looks back at the membranes. "It seems like a holy site to them. I do not think they would want us traipsing through their automated network."

Taeon looks at Dora and then nods. "A reasonable question. Any complex system such as this must require maintenance."

"Have you ever considered sharing your food and technology the husks?"

Taeon accepts the gift on behalf of the group. "Our thanks, Most Elevated. We are honored to accept this. We are most interested in the shield that protects your city as well as the defense platform in orbit around your planet. Do you know how these defenses function?"

Taeon looks alarmed first at the food and then at Roddy's reaction to eating it. You all hear his voice in your head. We must try to eat it! Or at least look like we're enjoying it. They see it as a gift and think it's rude if we don't eat.

The lashunta takes a small sip of the kahlgee and tries to smile like he's in enjoying the horrible dish. "Oh please, don't mind Roddy. This is a regular thing he does. He says he's impressed by the kahlgee's richness and texture."

"As Roddy says, the Pact Worlds have many races and we work together peacefully." Taeon turns to answer another question. "We have a ship. We landed on the planet to explore the signs of your city."

He turns to another, slightly confused. "There aren't stars missing. Oh, Starfinders, that's just a name. It does not mean any stars are missing." He smiles again and extends his psychic senses. The aliens didn't seem to have any psychic abilities, so likely they wouldn't know any difference.

Taeon watches in alarm as Dora nearly crashes on the platform. Only when it seems like he might be left behind, does the doctor step aboard and then he seems to be holding on for dear life.

When they are shown into the chamber, Taeon steps forward. He seems to have regained his composure. Once any others have received the spell, he makes a grand statement. You can tell he's probably been practicing this since you left Absolom Station.

Taeon tries to judge the reactions of the council and determine if there is any specific leader among them.

Taeon looks alarmed at the approach of the soldiers.

The Starfinders hear a translation in their heads as Taeon uses his limited telepathic powers to translate. He adds, I don't like this. If they're not friendly, then we're surrounded and trapped here.

Taeon will psychically translate for the rest of the group from now on.

Taeon follows Klarima towards the protected city.

Taeon chuckles.

He turns to Roddy. "They think you're a sissy and ought to learn to shoot." He grins.

Sorry, weekend was more engaged that I expected.

Taeon nods. "If it allows us to speak, I'm willing."

Once he is included in the spell. He introduces himself.

The lashunta points to himself again. "Taeon." He then tries to gesture to all of the Starfinders. "Starfinders."

He points to Dystane. "Dystane." He points to each elder, then gestures to all the aliens with a questioning look. He moves over and turns on the translator again.

Taeon steps forward and bows to the two new creatures. Non-verbal gestures would always be misinterpreted, but there were still essential to initial contact.

"Greetings. I am Taeon. These are my friends. We are explorers."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12

"Yes, Taeon!" The lashunta smiles and echos his words telepathically. Taeon!

He motions to the others. "I think he wants us to come with them." He tries to help Roddy to his feet.

Taeon looks confused for a moment. Then, the light turns on. "Oh! No, no." He points at himself. "Tae-on."

He points at the approaching alien, nodding. "Dystane." Then, he points at himself again. "Tae-on."

The doctor moves over to help Roddy, applying a serum to him.

He looks over his shoulder back at the aliens. "Hello friends! Please, we mean you no harm. Our friend was hurt by the giant creature. Do you know it?"

Taeon gapes at Roddy nearly being killed. He shouts to the soldier. "Hey, we still need you! I'll patch you up once we're done with this monster!"

Taeon joins in with the others in attacking the creature. He finally shoot at it with his pistol.

Taeon advances, continuing to wave his pistol at the creature, then faking like he's aiming at it.

Taeon's eyes widen as the thing roars. He feels his heart pounding and his hand shakes as he brings up his, suddenly very small seeming, pistol. He waves the pistol at the creature threateningly.

DC is 15+1.5*CR. Success means it's flat-footed vs. everyone. Failure and it's only flatfooted vs. Taeon until the end of his next turn.

"It doesn't seem like he's receptive to discussion. We may not be able to talk to it." Taeon draws his auto-pistol.

The Doctor suits up for an unknown environment and checks his medkit. He was hoping for peaceful interaction, but even if that was the case, Starfinders could find themselves in hazardous situations. He clicks on his vid-journal to document their preparations.

"Be sure we have the translator with us."

Taeon continues to bang on the sensor display, trying to get the readout to work.

Taeon fiddles with the sensor controls and then slaps the console with his hand, trying to get the display working again.

Taeon works on rebalancing the shields to try and give the ship more protection.

I need to give him a rank in engineering so he could at least help restore the shields.

Taeon glances back at the gunners. "You even fire during that last pass? Hurry up, the drone platform is held together with bailing wire and glue at this point."

Taeon attempts to rebalance the shields again.

"The little drones have no shields, but it may take a couple of shots to destroy them." Taeon rescans the drone platform. "It's almost done for. A couple more good shots will do it. The shields have been rebalanced though."

Taeon attempts to use the sensors to scan one of the drones for any weaknesses.

Taeon works the ship's systems to rebalance some of the shields, but fails to access the proper subroutine.

Computers (DC6): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Taeon continues scanning the drone platform. "Those little things are drones. The ship can launch one at a time. I suggest concentrating fire on the ship. Its forward shields are down and the drone launcher is malfunctioning from our last hit. If we can knock it out, we can deal with the drones afterward."

Taeon pulls up the sensors and tries to scan the approaching vessel. You hear him grumble something about being a doctor and not a computer technician.

Taeon watches the craft come closer and listens to the gibberish over the comm. "What is that thing?"

Taeon chuckles. "I'll pass on any Eoxian jam. In fact, I'll pass on any Eoxian delicacies."

"Like the pilot says, we're headed out to the Vast. Got a contract to explore an old rock. Probably dangerous."

Taeon can serve as Captain or Science officer.
