”Now it’s not talking anymore. Let’s hope it awakens with K when we return! Let’s us search this place properly and then go then!“

Taking 20 to search the place.

Thoroughly searching each nook and cranny of the estimated 330 squares that make up the floor and wall space requires approximately 5.5 hours at a rate of 1 minute per-square (20 move-equivalent actions can be done in the course of a minute [2 actions/round; 10 rounds/minute]. Almaas can take a free 5-foot step to get to the next square) and someone to help with the elevator when it's all done. Since time isn't really a thing for celestial beings we can assume that Sulianna re-materializes and flips the necessary switch. It's all fairly rough and we'll assume that the above includes time for a brunch break, and the extra time needed to get in and out of the fetid zombie-water to grab more air.

The broken sword remains stubbornly silent.

(Possibly) meanwhile....

The party emerges from the Black Edifice to the first rose-blush of dawn on the horizon. From their high vantage the world below is dark and filled with shadows. Behind them the enormous plateau structure built thousands of years ago is gone (or at least hidden) right down to its doorway now that the moon has set.

Outside the mountain air is brisk and fresh (even though the group is standing next to a magically dry-cleaned Stinky they have unconsciously all chosen to stand upwind). There is the hint of springtime.

Sulianna had taken her turn in guiding Kalkamedes out of the dungeon with nothing, but a hand set lightly upon his shoulder.

"And now it is time I take my leave. Goodbye my friends." She gives each party member a warm hug, and a small kiss on the cheek for Kalkamedes and then as the sunrise mounts the distant peaks she vanishes all at once leaving nothing but a faint trail of sparkling pixie dust that falls through the first warm sunbeams of the new day.

Kala will make the rounds, using Lynn's wand on whoever needs it.

BELAY THAT HEALING! Ghaele can do that at will and this one does so for her saviors.

"Please Kala, daughter of Krokum, Allow me. You all have done so much for me I would feel useless if I could not do this much for you."

Full hp for everyone!

Almaas steps forward to the Azata.

”We are glad that we could support you ... but the fiend is so intimidating. How can you handle it? And what can you do to awaken our friend K here?“

Almaas then looks into his backpack to find out where the voice was coming from ...

"Kind Almaas. His mission complete now, I think when he awakes this morning Kalkamedes will be released from his nocturnal hunt."

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

The azata's magic spent, Sleeping Sword sways from side to side and almost collapses...

"zzzzz.....huh?"

The briefest of snoozes seems to restore him. He sheathes his sword and offers a silent prayer of thanks to Shizuru, his divine inspiration.

"Sulianna, do you know of my order?"

"Do not think unkindly of me, but I am afraid not. Yet I do know a good man when I see him."

Sleeping Sword wrote:

"Though it has existed for less than the aeon that you have been trapped here, you chose to place faith in me. And your call to Kalkamedes has given him a combat style not unlike that taught in the monastery, albeit without any evidence of Shizuru's Technique."

She laughs. It is like the sound of church wedding bells.

"Sleeping Sword, I have only been trapped here a few weeks. Drawn here then by the emerging evil the failing magical circles revealed to me. Our enemy though languished here for whole ages of mortals, and from before the time of dwarves coming to reside upon the surface of this world. Trapped here by an Empire long gone to dust, before the Age of Darkness."

"Now let us leave this place for the fresh air outside and the coming of dawn."

"Well done, Sleeping Sword." says the azata. She is standing now, a statuesque beauty nearly 7-feet-tall. Her wounds rapidly healing thanks to her own magics. The aura that had so recently swathed Sleeping Sword now illuminating her. "I am Sulianna. And I owe you a great debt. I orginally came to this place to make sure that Koth did not escape on to your plane. The Thassilonian magics that had kept him imprisoned here for over 10,000 years were finally failing. It would have only been a few short weeks before he would have freed himself. I came to end the brute but did not count on his undead servitor. Koth distracted me long enough for the creature to blindside me. It was only by crawling into the circle that I was able to escape. There is something in the design that hedges out the undead. But of course by entering the circle I had trapped myself and was too weakened to move. It was only in my dreams that I had any freedom and it was in them that I met your friend, Kalkamedes. He had been exploring the lands around the Black Edifice--this laboratory and prison created by servants of the Rune Lord of Sloth for the summoning and subjugation of beings from beyond like Koth'Vaul. No doubt they used him for his ability to grant their wishes. I reached out to Kalkamedes, but the bond was too tenuous yet something within him brought him back apparently in his sleep."

Almost....

Sulianna reaches up from the floor for Sleeping Sword. "Too weak. You will have to be the one."

A nimbus of gold and silver light wraps the monk in a warm halo.

Sleeping is infused with the ability (and knowledge) to cast banishment (CL 13) once.

After Kala gives her the potion the woman begins to stir. She looks up into Kala's and Sleeping Sword's faces and speaks and the sound is like the memory of a pleasant springtime song from each individual's past.

"The circle... imprisons me, but hedges out the undead...."
