I can recall reading in church records that this crypt was one of the first filled in Ravengro's early days.

or if you are willing to watch the stars/hold my reading light you are more than welcome to come with us...
as he gathers his books in to his backpack and heads to his cart

well if you would feel more comfortable here with her that is fine as well but I would prefer if you were with us bc of you way with words... dont get me wrong I am not afraid of a fight I am kinda looking forward to it, however we will be calling this area home for a while I would rather not have them hate us all

well ms. Kendra correct me if I am wrong

Sir Giles closes his eyes and starts to look as though he is flipping pages in a book

The Whispering Way is a sinister organization of necromancers that has been active in the Inner Sea region for thousands of years.

Flips a few more pages in his mind

Agents of the Whispering Way often seek alliances with undead creatures, or are themselves undead. The Whispering Way’s most notorious member was Tar-Baphon, the Whispering Tyrant, although the
society itself has existed much longer than even that mighty necromancer.

Looks like he closes the book and picks up another book and opens it

The Whispering Way itself is a series of philosophies that can only be transferred via whispers—the philosophies are never written or spoken of loudly, making the exact goals and nature of the secretivephilosophy difficult for outsiders to learn much about.

Exact details on the society are difficult to discern, but chief among the Whispering Way’s goals are discovering formulae for creating liches and engineering the release of the Whispering Tyrant. Agents often travel to remote sites or areas plagued by notorious haunts or undead menaces to perform field research or even to capture unique monsters. Their symbol is a gagged skull, and those who learn too many of the Way’s secrets are often murdered, and their mouths mutilated to prevent their bodies from divulging secrets via speak with dead.

At least that is what I recall reading
He opens his eyes as he shuts the book

how late in the afternoon/night is it?

"I would love to come with you to hold watch over the grave... I would also like to take a few of the books with me to read his notes and try to get a good idea where he was getting in his research

this makes so much more sense now that I have seen the picture that goes with the puzzle of his cryptic messages and research request... what all can you tell me about this whispering way?
Knowledge local: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32 what all does giles know about them?

No no no I understand it just makes me laugh... it should read like a story not have clutter

Sorry dad

surprisingly I have not read or even heard of this book but I will look in to these books to see if I cab figure out what is so important about them

Starts sorting threw the papers

dont be mad bc I am awesome

knowledge history: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

what do I know about these books

He grabs the key and makes to open the chest

I have a good idea what books are in the chest now that I know that he has them but I guess I will have to investigate the tomes to make sure that there is not something that we are over looking

Sr. Giles looks a little too eager... ok alot too eager

we have spoken many times of his research but he never mentioned these tomes I am indeed also interested in there safe return to the University

Sir Giles kinda scratches his ear then you can see an idea come to his head and he pulls a small leather book from his bag that has a mommy on the cover and a vampire on the side binding and starts reading vigorously

well I have repressed my gnomish since of adventure for long enough... so I did what any book worm would do... I read every book I could on weaknesses of the evil creatures of our world and how someone of my stature could best combat them

oh this little thing... it is just a book on the history of this area and the impact of the past rulers on the economy.
It is just brushing up for light conversation... I am more interested in my newest hobby, combating evil.

Sr. Giles may be small and unassuming but also has seemed to somehow master the art of reading and still stay part of the conversation... it is the darnedest thing, he appears to be completely enveloped in a book but then will give great insight to the near by conversation

of course sorry I can quote you many a book on polite society but I never remember any of the practical application... my name is Sr. Giles Renny
of the libraries in the kingdom to the far east of here
( dm feel free to give me a kingdom to be from )... And what is your name good sir?

oh no thank you sir I dont need help... wait till we get to my wagon that is were most of my stuff and traveling books are. But thanks for the offer

I make my way back to the residents with the rest of the funeral party

Pow trust points... lets rob them and take there money

diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

I never met the man in the flesh but we did share correspondence for many years... I often waited for his witty responses to my research. He had a great mind for interpretation of text. I planed to come in person many times but things always got in the way. I will miss you my old friend

he was a student of the mind not an evil master mind... come on people can we please respect this man for his mind and his love of knowledge and not judge him on what he was studying?

hell of a role

" come on guys, yes he did look into necromancy but he was definitely not a caster of any kind... he may have been trying to figure out a way to try and defeat necromancers and undead, but he was not involved in creating undead himself."

knowledge local: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18 or
knowledge arcana, religion: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
was he a necromancer?

knowledge local: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

Giles walks over to the casket looks up and prepares himself.

knowledge religion: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
What god/gods is this whole thing

" this does make me very sad. Such a great friend of mine would be shamed in such a way... I will gladly be a pallbearer."

Giles gently puts his book in to his bag spits on to his hands then rubs his hands together...

He kinda leans toward mignar " he wasnt a heavy fella was he? " under his breath

Sr. Giles Renny is a nimble 3'6" in a standard white tunic and brown pants with a full cloak that looks to have cobwebs covering it. Small glasses on his little nose. On his head is a grey floppy hat covering his white hair and bushy eye brows.

He walks with a walking stick... not because he has a bad knee but bc the backpack on his back appears to be so heavy that he can barely stand. Under his other arm is a very thick book with what looks like a elk on the spine.

The gentle giles walks to the gate by the restlands and sets his water proof backpack on the ground and untucks the book and starts to read from the well worn pages.

Awwwwww snap I hope you pick me for the game you made for us
