There is nothing anthropomorphic about these creatures. They are essentially burning hot oozes with sword-like protrusions that come in and out of its mass every round. The token I am using is about as close as I can find.

Round One

Four massive blobs of slag emerge from the slag pit. Wicked hot sword blades jut out from the huge blobs.

Kaos successfully puts up a Shield.

Leira does not know what these are. She works to cast an Acid Arrow against the second mass.

The second blob strikes out at the Arcane Trickster, but misses Leira.

Leira hits the blob with the Acid Arrow, but it appears to not have an affect. She then Dimension Slides away from the blob.

slag 2 blades AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 151d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (7) + 6 + (3, 3) = 19

Haskyll is heroic.

Anga tries to cast a Shield. The third blob strikes out at the Mage and makes a near critical strike.

slag 3 blades AoO: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (20) + 13 = 331d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 6 + (4, 5) = 17
slag 3 blades AoO confirm crit: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 171d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + (5, 6) = 21

Anga takes 17 points of damage, and will need to make a (10 + 17 + 1 = DC 28) Concentration Check or lose your Shield. Also, keep in mind the party has not rested from the prior encounters. I will assume that everyone did fully heal up though.

Lug becomes wide eyed when he sees the huge molten blobs of slag emerge from the slag pit. The other Hill Giant also looks on in amazement.

Ferrin calls out, "They are Shard Slags. Etena taught me about them. Acid will not work on them, and obviously, neither will fire." As she says this she takes a step drawing out Etena's Warhammer and begins to work on the fourth Shard Slag. She gets in one solid strike. Bits of slag and metal flies off the fourth Shard Slag.

Ferrin's 1st Attack: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (15) + 17 = 322d6 + 26 ⇒ (3, 4) + 26 = 33
Ferrin's 2nd Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 152d6 + 26 ⇒ (1, 4) + 26 = 31
Ferrin's 3rd Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 112d6 + 26 ⇒ (1, 6) + 26 = 33

Ferrin's Reflex Save First Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 122d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 8
Ferrin's Reflex Save Second Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 142d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7
Ferrin's Reflex Save Third Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 82d6 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10

Etena's Warhammer takes 1 points of damage. (39/40)

Ulfgard joins in on the fun and delivers two crushing blows with the Hammer of Unmaking. The Dwarf Ranger puts a couple of obvious dents into the first blob of molten slag.

A creature that strikes a shard slag with a weapon can attempt a DC 22 Reflex save; if it fails, it’s unable to pull the weapon away from the shard slag’s molten body quickly enough, and the weapon takes 2d6 points of fire damage. Unattended objects in contact with a shard slag take 2d6 points of fire damage per round. Damage caused to weapons and unattended objects is not halved, and ignores the first 5 points of hardness. The save DC is Constitution-based.

Ulfgard needs to make two DC22 Reflex saves or take 2d6 of Fire Damage to Agrimmosh. Both Ferrin's and Ulfgard's weapons have a Hardness of 14 and can take 40 points of damage before getting the broken condition. Correction: Agrimmosh Has a Hardness of 16 and can take 50 points of damage. With the 5 points ignored is resist 11 points of damage per strike, so only double-sixes will actually cause 1 point of damage to Agrimmosh. Ulfgard really should not worry about it, except the damage you are taking. That you will need to worry about.

Proximity Damage Ferrin: 1d6 ⇒ 3

I cannot recall if Anga, Leira, and Kaos started the round next to a Shard Slag. If you start a Round next to a Shard Slag you take 1d6 points of heat damage. I know that Kaos has some Fire Resistance.

The first Shard Slag attacks Ulfgard.

Shard Slag 1 number of attacks this round: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Wow! Six attacks!

slag 1 blades 1st Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (9) + 13 = 221d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (4, 3) = 18
slag 1 blades 2nd Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 301d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + (4, 3) = 17
slag 1 blades 3rd Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 141d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (7) + 6 + (5, 1) = 19

slag 1 blades 6th Attack: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 251d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (5, 5) = 21

Ulfgard takes a crippling 95 points of damage.

The second Shard Slag fully emerges from the slag pit and moves across the massive stone pews scarring them along its path.

The third one attacks Anga and Kaos.

Shard Slag 3 number of attacks this round: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

slag 3 blades 1st Attacks Anga: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 301d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (7) + 6 + (4, 6) = 23

slag 3 blades 3rd Attacks Kaos: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (11) + 13 = 241d8 + 6 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + (4, 1) = 15

Anga takes 23 points of damage. The other attacks deflect off Kaos' just activated Shield.

The fourth one attacks both Ferrin and Kaos.

Shard Slag 4 number of attacks this round: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

They crit on a 19. Ferrin takes 54 points of damage including one critical strike. Kaos takes 70 points of damage including a critical strike.

Droja just shakes her head and begins to cast a summons spell.

Kaos 27 (AC20/MA21/SH25 42/112)

This was a long and difficult post.

Haskyll's Round One and Everyone's Round Two

As the party is gathering the loot, the Gnome suddenly appears in the cave, "Oh my, I really dislike that spell." He has his big bird-like thing with him.

"My! My! Aren't we a fine set of adventurers. I had thought that you were the right ones for this task." He goes up to Lady Elektra.

"This is the best I can do," He gives Elektra a Spell Book. "It is a copy of all I know. Use them well."

He looks at the party, "Here. Take this!" He hands to Brandark a token in the Shape of a Bronze Tree. "It is not magic. It is the symbol of our village. With it, you will always have a place to stay in Big Oak, food on your table, and good drink. The village will look forward to your return."

After again congratulating the party, he teleports back to his now even more safe home.

Earlier the Gnome will return to the upper window of the Cottage. He will look down at Brandark, "You wish for me to send a missive to Sandpoint. Why is that where your next of kin lives? We do not have mail service to Sandpoint. We could send a letter to Magnimar. It could get there in a couple of weeks...." He pauses as he looks at the Dwarf Cavalier, "Oh, you are talking about some kind of magical communication. I cannot help you with that."

Who goes with Elektra to Sandpoint? May I suggest Stone and Severo. Stone, because he too is familiar with Sandpoint, and Severo just in case there is a fight. Brandark, Flynn, and Devora could take care of the horses and arrange for a place to stay for the night.

The Gnome looks down toward Stone, "Be careful. It's a Dragon." He shrugs and goes back inside. The bird-like creature swoops back through the window following the Gnome.

The great bird creature flies out of the window and hovers over the cottage that is more like a house.

A Gnome comes to the window, "So you are willing to help. Unusual for your kind. But we could use the help. It is a Forest Dragon. For years it left us alone as it fed off the wildlife around Lake Ember and within the Malgorian Mountains. But now it has killed several of my kind, mostly hunters that ventured too far to the west. I have managed to mask our village to appear as simple forest, but I do not believe I can keep this ruse up for much longer. It is a smart and clever creature."

He sighs, "As best I can tell, it originally came across the Steaming Sea, maybe even the Emberal Ocean beyond. It is not from Avistan, so there is little more I can tell you about it. I can give you a map to its lair. It took over a shrine once used by the Serpentfolk. The shrine sits in a cave atop Beta Malgorian overlooking Viperwall, a keep still inhabited by the Serpentfolk. Beta Malgorian is the second tallest of the Malgorian peaks. The tallest one is Malgorian Prime further to the north." He turns away.

He comes back after a few minutes and tosses a scroll out of the window toward the party. The map indicates that the party can go most of the way by horse, but it is a narrow path to reach the shrine and the lair of this dragon.
