Jack of all Trades: Int-1: 2d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 2) - 1 = 6
After finishing the round, Solomon is ready to leave again and see if there is more information we can turn up on Salvage Factors.
"Kinda between employers right now, if you know what I mean. We've been flirting with the idea of going straight freelance, but though we'd ask around. I'd rather work with good people than race 'em to job and let things get ugly. If you know what I mean."
Solomon smiles, "Please, please. Let's sit and drink. We can trade salvage stories. My crew and I are looking for work and heard that Factors is the place to be." He gestures toward a table, and then to the bartender to bring a round over.
IQ: 2d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 5) - 1 = 9 Jack of all Trades 1 reduces that -2 to -1?
Solomon says "Why don't you setup a meeting for us with your handlers? It saves us all the credits and hospitalization."
Persuade: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 1) + 1 = 8
Solomon is ready to keep making things socially awkward!
"Let's get this ship rundown a pre-flight, establish a flight plan and get her out into space! But most importantly, she needs a name!"
Solomon nods. "I'm in. I'm not really fond of letting others eat my lunch, if you get my meaning."
Solomon can offer a straight 2d6 Computers roll if nobody else can do better, or he can try to assist someone scrubbing the buffers.
I thought so, but since I couldn't read it...just wanted to make sure it didn't sound better :)
Off to the primary power plant with Solomon!
Part of the B level map is cut off so I can't tell what is under the backup jump drive. Not sure if that's what I'm looking for, or if I'd be better off going to A deck to the primary power plant?
A little confused, sorry. Is Solomon already inside the Machii in a zero-g suit? Still outside heading back to the salvage vessel? Can we cross on the umbilical to the Machii in zero-g suits and just depressurize our side until we can find our way to engineering?
"Cheif, it's all ready for you and Ben to head on over. Charlotte and Marissa standby to join them."
Securing and checking his tethering, Solomon heads to the control panel...
Zero-G: 2d6 + 0 ⇒ (1, 4) + 0 = 5
Mechanics: 2d6 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (3, 4) + 2 - 2 = 7
Sorry Solomon was MIA. He does have VaccSuit and ZeroG training. He also has Computers 0 and Mechanics 2, but nothing for Electronics. Jack of All Trades?
Suited up and ready Solomon pats Myrian on her vacc-suited behind. "I believe that's you Myrian."
"XO to Captain: we've located the ship. Salvage operations on standby."
Solomon runs around the ship trying to do a million things at once.
Sorry, work has been kicking my tale the last few days...
Solomon won't do anything special during the jump, but practice his 'leadership' :)
After consulting with the Chief, Solomon will head to the Observation Bubble. "Sir, here is the flight plan for your approval. We'll file it with Port Control and be underway."
"What as the last communication that the X1 sent?" Solomon asks.
Looking at the captain with a slight nod, "With your permission sir."
He turns to Charlotte, "Let's get the Jeramiah underway. I want us in open space within the hour."
Looking at Thaddeus "Chief, get us a jump route to the Jewell subsector. You and Charlotte get this ship to the Grant system. Myrian I want a full diagnostic checkout on the sensor spread. If we've got a hull materials breakdown on the X1, that might prove useful in locating it. Ben, monitor the comms traffic for anything interesting, especially once we hit Jewell. I have a feeling we aren't the only boat out looking for the X1."
Turning to the captain again, "Weapons systems sir?"
Solomon smiles at the captain, "Sir, if you can give me everything the Scout Service has given you on this mission and the missing ship, I'll review it before having a planning meeting with Myrian, Thaddeus and Charlotte so we can clarify a course of action."
Solomon introduces himself to Captain Jemaise, "Drake, Solomon Drake. A bit of a jack of all trades really. I can fit in where ever you need me sir. If you don't mind me saying, with this crew, I might serve you well as XO."
Solomon picks a stateroom and makes himself comfortable, heading to the common room about 10 minutes before the briefing.
Solomon rubs his hands together as they look at the Jeramiah from the observation window. "Let's get this journey underway ladies and gentlemen. Our 2% awaits!"
Solomon will call Captain Jemasie and explain the situation, urging him to get his ISS contacts to clear the paperwork for us to get back underway to the Jeramiah.
Solomon says, "I really don't think you should be doing that..." *stab*
Melee (blade): 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 1 = 9
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (3, 5) + 4 = 12
Solomon draws his rapier and runs it through his opponent!
Melee (blade): 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 2) + 1 = 9
Damage: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2) + 4 = 12
Solomon moves to the nearest goon and tries to disarm him. "Security? SECURITY!"
Melee (unarmed): 2d6 + 0 ⇒ (5, 5) + 0 = 10
Initiative: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
Just to make sure IQ = EDU INT? I don't have Recon, so that would typically be a -3 but with Jack of all Trades 1 that should make it a -2 instead? But since I have no EDU bonus (or penalty!) it's going to end up being a 2d6-2 no matter what?
2d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 2) - 2 = 2
EDIT: I meant INT, really I did. :) In my case the are both +0.
I was going to suggest that Marissa and Myrian try and find out whatever we can 'on the way' to the ship. :)
"Understood, we are underway sir!" Solomon snaps to a reasonable facsimile of a salute. "Does this ISS prototype have a designation sir?"
"Done." Solomon says, shaking hands with ... "Mister...?"
My vote is for a far trader as well.
Solomon whistles appreciatively. "Put us in for 3% for the group and we'll be underway. It would be a shame to walk away from 97% because you turned away skilled help. For what amounts to less than your own bonus on this deal, I'm sure."
"With all due respect...1% on an Imperial salvage? You can do better. Since luck has blessed you today with a crew in your time of need, you can share that good luck around a little more. 1% each."
Broker: 2d6 + 1 ⇒ (6, 2) + 1 = 9
Solomon re-enters with Rone, all smiles. "Looks like we might have a job offer waiting for us. Ben, maybe you'd be so kind as to begin negotiations with Rone's boss here in a few minutes?"
"What can you tell me about what you know about his offer?" Solomon probes.
Solomon follows, "Sure thing, buddy."
With Rone's back to him, Solomon quickly gives the Chief some flight deck hand signals.
"Why don't you tell me what's going on here, buddy. Some of my new friends can be a little...high strung. New boss of yours we just met?"
Persuade (Int): 2d6 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (1, 4) + 0 + 1 = 6
Solomon walks over to the wheelchair all smiles, shaking hands with Rone. "Still know how to make an entrance I see. This is a pretty swanky setup you've had laid out for us. After a week on a shuttle, it's much appreciated. Got some old friends, and some new friends together. Thought we'd take one of these junkers off your hands. We always managed to find something mutually beneficial in the past..."
Solomon does introductions and sits in a chair closest to where Rone brings himself to rest.
It's cool, he's power tripping. We murder his face later is all.
Solomon smiles warmly, "Afternoon to you. We are here to see Rone Miry about a ship."
Solomon smiles, "Yes, let us go visit my friend Rone over at the Spinward Salvage yards."
I sort of lean toward (honest) smugglers, though we could probably take some merc work here and there. I'm feeling a free trader over a yacht I suppose, but I'm ok with the majority choice.
Benjamin: 10 shares
Solomon: 6 shares
Marissa: 4 shares
Charlotte: 3 shares
Myrian: 2 shares
Thaddeus: 0 shares
Solomon: 6 shares
Charlotte: 3 shares
Myrian: 2 shares
Thaddeus: 0 shares
Solomon says "I'll be traveling on my TAS ticket, but Myrian I'd be happy to help sort out your accommodations."
Broker 1, so I can make the roll or I can assist.
Let's just check the count then an make sure it's still 21. I don't think Charlotte is in the original 21 count...
Solomon: 6 shares
Charlotte: 3 shares
Thaddeus: 0 shares
Ship Shares: 21 Yacht/15Else (2 Myrian; 4 Marissa, 10/4Benjamin, 5Mark, 0 Spazmodeus)
Spazmodeus also has a Ship's Boat (the standard Yacht also comes with a Ships Boat)
I'm guessing we own 21% of a yacht (plus any contribution Arknight makes?, and Benjamin gets to be in charge with the largest stake? That seems slightly concerning, he seems like a bit of a wildman.
For clarity can everyone please re-list their ship shares?
I have 1 Ship Share as well as Free Trader, so I could put forward:
6 Free Trader shares
or
3 Any shares
Picking through one of the baskets of chicken, grabbing something covered in sauce, Solomon offers "I've got a line on a ship for sale...it's in pretty good shape, and sounds like we've got plenty of pilots and wrench monkeys in any case. An old buddy of mine over at at Spinward Salvage has got a little something over on Efate he'd be willing to let go for a fair price. You prospective investors interested in taking a sight seeing trip?"
Broker: (Int) 2d6 + 0 + 1 ⇒ (5, 6) + 0 + 1 = 12
Solomon pointedly ignores Ben's barb.
"Solomon Drake. Ex-Navy huh? Years ago I had dreams of being a fighter jock. Unexpected...political entanglements ended my career though. Been flying, fixing, fighting and looking for new markets since." turning to look at Myrian again, "So we've got a crew, what's the cargo?"
Solomon motions back toward the table, "Of course miss. Please join us! I'm Solomon." he quickly introduces everyone else at the table. "Never a dull moment eh?"
