I knew everybody involved by name, so no, they were not new players.

Who's in SENSOU? Ingame player names pls

I personally despised Darkfall's combat, it required so much twitch that you were lost in twitching and maneuvering rather than enjoying yourself.

This is what a player with very little twitch gameplay experience would say.

When you make snide comments, it might behoove you to know a thing or two about the person beforehand. For example, in this case your presumption is quite mistaken and actually foolish.

Atta boy, there you go. Knew you had some arrogance in ya.

Anyways, I love Darkfalls combat. Hoping to see some of the community from that game swing over and give this game a try.

The game isn't ready for marketing. I think this notion is a mistake.

You'll just be presenting an unfinished/unpolished game (basically still in Alpha) to a wider audience and more criticism then it probably deserves at this point.

I agree 200%.

I also agree 200% to disagree. ;)

and types of monster do not effect what type of loot drops. If you fighter higher level monsters you are going to have a chance at higher level loot. (Spells/Maneuvers/Recipes)

Try the marchmount AH, normally lots of spells on there.

I respect the intent. I just don't think it will help, maybe even hurt.

Don't get me wrong, I want this game very much to succeed, sincerely.

Look at it this way:
You just don't see unfinished cars sitting in the Porsche Dealership showroom.

My feeling is if you put a lot of videos out there for people to see, they're just as likely to say hey look at this video of Black Desert.

The PvP combat isn't even the promotional tool in my opinion, it's the context in which the PvP occurs, vis-a-vis the settlement conflict and such.

Believe me, I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but I've seen this community try to do outreach and hype before on MMORPG and it was a mess and IMHO didn't do the game or dev team any favors.

Personally, I think blog posts talking about the political stuff and how PvP and War of Towers feeds into that or guides it might be more useful right now. That's the unique selling point of PFO.

Isn't war of towers useless ATM- Especially with the NAP? No point in having towers. It is used by non hostile players as an excuse for non-consensual PVP. Until player husks come into game I will still consider every PVP encounter to be meaningless PVP. People Want DRAMA, with player husks becomes more Risk and you know what more risk brings? DRAMA.

I do agree with you on the via vs via settlement being promotional but until there is more risk I feel as if that is moot.
A 2v2 Tourny should bring some good attention to the game right before we have player husks come into the game.

this guy is the real hero.

Then just do your thing. I'm just saying I don't think it is a good idea to do tons of streaming and make videos to send out to people and say "check this out" - cause the game isn't ready for that yet no matter how hopeful we are that it will be soon.

I am not sure if you noticed, but the player base is kind of dwindling for an MMORPG. Even if its still in Alpha. I still understand what your saying. People still have not even heard of this game. Just trying to bring interest, maybe even people to follow the game and wait until its ready to purchase.

I suppose it will have to be phrased differently...any continued aggression in Keeper's Pass is unacceptable. Such will be escalated to Golgothan leadership to address as they see fit. (ooc: could we have a standby alt for everybody to flag themselves off of, so the combat starts with all contestants flagged as attackers?)

Most definitely we will have an alt to flag on, we also thinking about picking a hex with open pvp to potentially just avoid that. But with the way targeting in the game is now we are probably all better off being red for the fights for tab targeting.

Looking forward to finally fighting the great spitfire!
I still have not found myself a partner unfortunately. When I do, I'll post my prom date

Will the tourneys be timed? Or is it just 'till death?'

Is it possible to have 2 time slots? One at the stated time and one later, for people who can't make the first time?

Dazyk it will be done when the fights are over, you can post your team and if you can't make it that's fine.

We will host more of these tourneys so if there is a pitiful show up then we will consider a different time for the next.

Have the organizer assign a character name shortly before the event.

It doesn't take much to be viable in pvp right now. A 1000 exp character could go up agaisnt pvp characters with full exp right now And still have a good chance with the right skills.

For that reason, I will not be making a separate bracket

This sounds like a fun event! Though, with the way PvP is at tier1, the only people who shall be successful are multiclassed players.

Thats fine, the event is to help support the game in bringing in more players and also help players that are playing now with PVP Fundamentals. It is also going to help the game by showing some flaws with the combat system and balancing.

Please post your teams - (Both ingame character names) I will throw them all into a spreadsheet and I will determine the match-ups.

Greetings everyone,

I have created a rudamentary system for players to report non-consenual PvP such as banditry and griefing.

Any feedback is welcome.

The goal is three fold.

1. Document incidences of non-consenual PvP in a manner that will allow the community to better identify bandits from griefers.

2. Provide a system that will aid settlement leaders in the policing of their own territories.

3. Create a systematic means of recording where banditry happens most often so travelers can better plan their travel routes and enforcers can better focus their policing efforts.

The River Kingdoms currently has no systematic means of accomplishing items 1 or 2, and it is my concern that griefers may be going un-noticed because their actions are undocumented, while groups policing poachers and trespassers in their territory may be confused with true bandits or griefers.

tinyurl.com/WWpvpReport

I would appreciate support from settlement and community leaders by promoting this space on your respective forums as well as communicating its availability to players in-game and in IRC.

A Shivtr account is required to file a report.

This thread is causing me grief. The very thing it is suppose to stop.

No and No.

In the first possibility the victim is not prepared for any loss. He or she was not griefed, but instead may have shown that a non consensual PvP game is not meant for them.

In the second, writing for the purpose of sparking controversy or satirically exposing flaws is a subject for debate. If this creates undue grief, again, perhaps this is not the place for one to be.

I like this guy, I think we would make a great team.

It's not like there's any great mystery or controversy what the flaws in the game are- I suspect that anyone of reasonable intelligence and good will could make a list that would 80% match with anyone else's.

Cheatle, can you explain why you think the player/dev conversation needs to be de-democratized? Maybe you could just post your own top 5 here and we could all talk about that.

1) On the Paperdoll, please indicate where the bad Midnight character touched you with her arrows.

2) Please indicate whether you won or lost the engagement. (Please be aware that since Midnight has far more points in gathering than combat that you will be forever ridiculed if you didn't win against that bloodthirsty but horribly-inept-at-combat gatherer).

3) Based on your experiences, how can Midnight add more tears to future engagements?

We'd like to remind you that tipping your attacker will no longer be required, beginning Wednesday. Your husk is your tip.

Slammy, I would ask one thing of you in your efforts here. Keeper's Pass, as with the Keepers of the Circle, is dedicated to the concept of non-aggression. I would kindly ask that you not engage in your provocations in our settlement. I fully understand both the desire for combat as well as the need to test out game mechanics. However, I am certain you can easily find multitudes of characters to fight without violating our primary tenet.

I fully agree and respect your request, but the matter of the fact is. You are playing an open loot PVP game. One cannot simply ask for non-aggression from attackers without not offering them anything. Especially if they were traders/crafters.

sspitfire1 wrote:

At 1 minute 47 seconds or so Slappy takes damage while in dead sprint. Regardless of all circumstances, if he is moving any faster than a walk he should gain the provoking condition after taking damage. He clearly does not gain provoking. I am calling hacks if no one else will. I'm sure the devs are looking into this now.

In fact, the entire fight against Cheatle in the early part of the video (Cheatle has the cleaver), Slappy is both moving AND taking damage AND attacking- but never provoking. Whatever Slappy is doing, it is not skill. It is illegal abuse of the game systems. I hope he gets a good slam in the face for it by GW.

But if you really want to see proof that something is going on behind the scenes, skip to 4 minutes and 20 seconds. It will cut to a new scene where Slappy is seen charging forward with his spear. He is provoking opportunity! Not 6 seconds later in the video he is still running around attacking people with the spear, but no longer provoking.

At 5.14 you see Slappy provoking while moving again. Whatever it is that Slappy turns on to negate provoking, he forgets to reactivate it here- or doesn't think he needs it to win. During that time he suffers the first stun we see affect him in the video; but not, apparently, the first one that is directed at him.

At 8.50 we get back to him moving, attacking and not provoking again- coincidentally also when he has people who have managed to target him and are dealing damage.

The final nail in the coffin is this: If Slappy is pulsing q/e back and forth in rapid succession, the movement in his character is imperceptible to the human eye- if the movements are even registering at all by the game. That requires machine speed and precision. Human fingers can't sustain that kind of activity for prolonged periods without the cadence breaking down, at the very least.

You could have just admitted your bad at PVP, that would have saved you multiple paragraphs.

I have already admitted after watching my video in greater detail that it does look like my character is desynced. Although I did not know about this until after making the video. Anyways I am sure the devs have already seen this and will look into it because it seems to be an issue when crossing hex borders. There is plenty of times during that fight where I was red and provoking opportunity, it is not my fault your teams targeting skills were too pitiful to burn me down.
If I already got haters, must mean I am doing something right!
Thanks for the giggle mate :D

Doc || Allegiant Gemstone Co. wrote:

It seems to me they weren't hitting him much anyway (couldn't target), so whether or not he provoked opportunity wouldn't have mattered.

They in turn, made themselves easy to target by standing still (many of them, not all).

That is my main point.

Agreed, Dazyk and his band of brothers made for easy pray. Now we can only hope that targeting gets fixed before player husks come into game...

TEO Cheatle wrote:

I think one of the points here is the fact that targeting doesn't work correctly, which can lead to one sided battles. Also, being able to heal someone that is red can be crucial at times.

These are fixes that need to get in sooner rather than later.

Agreed. Also almost seems like my character is desynced on the hex borders.

If I didn't know better I would almost think you guys were upset for getting beat and accusing me of hacking ? As you can see in the video I get stunned multiple times. And my guess as to why hold person did not work for you is because you can still cast it with no power, it just doesn't do anything. You probably had no power. I've done that so many times with string bolas. I am red very few times in this fight so that may make targeting me much harder?

Erratic movement. Right now the hit boxes to click on are very small. I wish they would fix targeting because its f@!&ed.

You just need more skill with clicking on characters.
