Skie also nabs one of the larger kitchen tools, but she didn't intend to hold on to it forever. Since she already had her javelin for close up fighting she felt no remorse flinging the heavy skillet straight into the oncoming horde. (In fact - the thought of recklessly throwing around the King's possessions in his own castle was quite amusing! If it weren't for all the daemons and all ...) I hope we can all look back at this and laugh in a century or so!

Darvan's portrait is moved to the Kitchen Battle. Not sure where he should be, but that's just a minor adjustment.

@GMTWO - Question!

I'd call a skillet a one-handed weapon (1d6) and a ladle a light weapon (1d4); catching and readying a thrown item as an improvised weapon is probably going to be a move/standard action, unless you have something that enhances that ability such as Quick Draw.

Skie is feeling like throwing skillets and/or lafles at soulblighters! She has Quick Draw. What sort of action would it be to Pick Up/Equip one of those? (Assuming Standard to Throw)

Skie shouts triumphantly as her javelin skewers one of the daemons. Now there were just ... uh ... tons to go. And ... her good javelin were all the way over there. Damn. Now this wouldn't have been a problem if she had her quiver filled with the darn things but noooo the helpful guard at the door had insisted otherwise. I bet he is feeling really foolish about right now! Well - either that or eat. Bleh.

She just had to try and fix her mistake as soon as possible. Using her ordinary javelin as a bat she (very) briefly cleared the way and surged forth to grab her precious cold iron throwing spear. After that she did her best to follow the advice of her new glowing friend and back up and away from the gnawing horde.

@Dagger - sorry I didn't think much about our smaller sidearms since Skie 1.0 had that built-in.

@Buckler - You mentioned earlier that cohorts were okay with sword+shield so I just assumed bucklers were fair too.

It's part of the fighting style image (peltast or skirmisher) but, in Pathfinder, shields aren't too important so this isn't a hill I have to die on. Just poke me again on this topic please :-)

@Javelin materials - There's really only two she can afford not counting the vanilla ones. Cold Iron is really cheap (and useful as heck right now!). And then there's Silver Weapon Blanch which is single use and 5gp a pop. The rest are all way too expensive at the moment ('real' silver and adamantine).

So with there being three types I figure one of each is reasonable, since the goal was mainly to showcase. (In reality she probably has a 6:2:1 ratio of them, going by price. I'll update her sheet when I get home!)

On the topic of javelin changes - as a user of them I wouldn't mind since this would be a buff. And those are usually nice :-)

Might make the shortspear a bit less attractive thought. Not that I've seen anyone pick up any (but long) spear for how well they work in Pathfinder so that's probably not a real problem.

Skie does have her javelins in one of those fancy extra roomy magic quivers. Would that impact the number allowed (in a positive way, those might not be allowed after all!)?

Otherwise I guess she'll just have to slap the deamons with then instead.

Question @GM - In my haste to complete Skie's statblock I totally forgot that it would be useful to have throwing spears in different materials. Which seems highly relevant at the moment.

Would you mind if I subtracted the appropriate costs right now and said that some of Skie's javelins are cold forged? (Including the very nice one she just threw!)

Skie rushed towards the kitchen, it seemed to be where the flow was going. The teeming wall of vaguely organized bodies were unusual and somewhat unnerving, but at least it wasn't deamons. By the look of things there was a risk that would change soon enough.

The javelin-wielding elf forms up behind the pair of warriors already guarding the entrance. If fate was kind, she'll be able to rain down her spears from behind them. Not that there seemed to be any reason fate was on their side today...

"If I could have a wish; I'd ask for less planar invaders instead..." Skie affords herself a small smile at Kilment and then Darvan. Had to find the little beams of light - might be the last.

Then the time for small talk seemed distant and she focused the oncoming monsters instead. The first of her javelins sailed towards the blighters hitting one dead on! A start at least.

From ontop of her vantage point at one of the tables Skie tried to survey the pandemonium. The javelin in her hand felt woefully inadequate. And, by the looks of things, the dance was not going to happen. *Sigh* She had looked forward to that... She was also starting to regret wishing for an exciting dinner; life or death really was a step too far.

It seemed as if she needed a bit more luck. The elf sang out a praise to the Eldest. Which one? She really wasn't sure. But the javelin she weighted felt lighter; if she closed her eyes she could almost see it jump towards the deamons on its own. But that didn't seem like a good idea right now either. Instead she hopped down from the table and headed towards the screaming guardsmen (ehh some of them at least).

There's probably enough here now that a quick double check could be worth it =)

Round 2

Cursing softly Skie realized that even more horrible creatures had joined the party. And I certainly think they *weren't* invited. How rude! To make things worse the new ones also had a somewhat clear line to the princess, whom she had swore to protect just a while ago. Hopefully the mist would deter them. But if not ... She quickly shuffled her way across the table until the very end and realigned her crossbow with the larger pair of monsters. The weapon felt woefully inadequate for the situation - but she could only hope it would make a difference.

Pre-round

The whole banquette had been quite nice so far. Pleasant company and delicious food and drink - much better then she would expect to see the coming months! It was really quite a shame someone would dare to interrupt it. And that she was sitting right across from the door they were banging at without much more then silverware to shield herself with. My crossbow! the thought raced through her mind and she hurriedly started digging at the bindings. Mentally she was already loading the weapon and lining up the shot - physically she was cursing over the slowness by which the weapon could be readied.

Round 1

As the blue haired woman from a handful of seats down rose into the air and offered her advice Skie redoubled her efforts and mumbled to herself. "No no no - not planning on dying ...!"

Eventually the bindings gave way and she slammed a bolt into the weapon and pulled back the lever finally leaving the herself armed. Just in time too it seemed - looking up she could see those 'devourers' herself. Not to happy about adding that sight to her dinner experience. Though there wasn't any time to dwell on that, she had wasted too much already it seemed. With a small leap Skie moved ontop of the table and levelled her weapon at the oncoming horde of small skittery things.

Actions: Standard to complete loading of crossbow. Move to shuffle to the right/ontop of table hopefully lining up a shot
