”Of course!” Sir Maximilien replies immediately. ”The Society is an honorable and upright organization - you would be welcome and I would be happy to recommend you based on your performance during this expedition.”

"Lady Kiryena, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Sir Maximilien's voice is almost a purr as he gracefully bows. "Please allow me to introduce myself and my companions as Pathfinders from Absalom. We have been both privileged and honored to accompany the Lady Uliyara on our joint expedition here to engage in archeological discovery."

"Or perhaps this is Bardak?" Sir Maximilien offers. "No, you are correct - the journal states this Bardak was outside the room. But what is this cataclysm he speaks of?"

"A pity he forgot in death what he might have known of honor in life," Sir Maximilien comments darkly, wiping his sword off even though it did not touch the undead dwarf before sheathing it. "But perhaps he will find peace in true death he has been denied all these years. His family would likely appreciate the return of their family gladdin... galdangosh... ornamentation."

Sir Maximilien draws his sword and strides into battle. "Die, you unworthy cur!" he proclaims. "Dishonorable!"

Longsword, PA: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 2 = 13
Slashing damage: 1d8 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 4 = 14

Moving (and drawing weapon), then attacking.

”They seem... well built.” Sir Maximilien tries not to shiver from the cold.

Sir Maximilien pulls out a cleaning cloth and wipes the blood off his sword in the snow. ”A dishonorable end for a dishonorable creature.” When he is finished, he sheathes the blade and turns to their guide. ”I do not like being lied to, but your caution is warranted in these circumstances. I accept your apology.”

Turning his attention to the uncovered ruin, the knight begins to slowly make his way across the icy floor towards the statues.

With the luck of a cat, Sir Maximilien tries to twist away from the wolf’s icy blast...

...but he is unprepared and frost clings to his armor. ”Very well then, cur,” he snarls, drawing his sword and advancing through the snow. ”For the Society!”

Using Cat’s Luck on the saving throw (to no effect XD), then moving to the wolf (drawing weapon as part of movement), Challenge as a swift action, and attacking as a standard action. Because of the Challenge, Sir Maximilien’s AC is currently 21 vs the wolf and 18 vs anything else.

Sir Maxililien's hand rests openly on the hilt of his sword. "If she wished to be known by that name, she would have told us so," he answers boldly. "Likewise, if she wished to travel with you she would have told us. Back down now, while you still have your life, or we will defend both her honor and our own with force."

If enough other people feel otherwise, feel free to overrule Maximilien.

”I had assumed you just put the bricks down and let the heat do the work,” Sir Maximilien admits sheepishly. ”Is there a better way?”

”We also have the blackfire bricks the venture-captain provided,” the catfolk suggests.

Sir Maximilien shivers, easily getting turned around in the featureless snow. The next few hours find him silent and frowning beneath his furred hood.

"Our companion Haltani sends her kindest regards as well," Sir Maximilien adds with a low bow.

"What my companion means to say is that your reputation precedes you, good sir." Sir Maximilien steps in smoothly to cover for Uoralveren's sudden case of nervousness.

”...would be the honorable thing to do,” Sir Maximilien replies firmly. ”Or would you prefer to showcase dishonorable conduct and that your feelings are more important than the agreements you have made? That is no way to honor the trust of your warriors.”

"It is indeed," Sir Maximilien confirms. "Not the town of Dalun at all. Good sir, do you mean to tell us you did not recognize the uniforms of your neighbors from your other neighbors? Do you pay such little attention to details before declaring war? Or did you simply not wish to examine them closely to preserve a convenient narrative?" His feline face is hard as he looks up at the chieftain.

"Indeed," Sir Maximilien muses aloud. "Perhaps they were independent agents trying to ruin your relationship with Dalun by using cowardly underhanded tactics." His disapproving tone makes very clear his opinion of such things.

”If your warleader is honorable, then it would be our honor to meet them,” Sir Maximilien answers smoothly.

”Do we need to cross? Is there no bridge?” Sir Maximilien squints as he holds a paw over his brow.

”I’ve been serving the Society in Taldor recently,” the tall catfolk explains over drinks. ”Though I did make a most wondrous journey to the Plane of Earth to impress potential allies. I do believe that went well.” He smiles proudly. ”As for my guiding star, that would be Iomedae. May we all strive to act as honorably and justly as her.”

"Fascinating!" A catfolk in shining armor walks down the gangplank and surveys the expedition. "A change for certain from my previous engagements, but there is honor and glory to be found in all places - and Sir Maximilien de Léone is sure to find them!"

"In this harsh land, the Jadwiga, descendents of the mighty Baba Yaga they say sometimes capture and enslave Ulfen people."

"Ah, but what of those that look outside their borders?" Maximilien answers grandly. "These stilyagi, these 'culture-crows' - while they may have outdated or inaccurate ideas of other cultures, they could be an ally in this cold land where monsters have more rights than people." He sniffs dismissively.

Catfolk cavalier here! I don't have his profile ready yet, so I'll hold off posting until then. I've dotted into the gameplay thread though, so I'll be able to see when new posts are made.
