Pouty? You decided to go in alone and asked us to be close in case things went sideways.
I did exactly that. And when they discovered who you are, I moved in to help as you suggested, from that point on you were calling me a fool - sorry dude, that is more than pouty. If you had said, "help only if I ask" or something, it may have been different, or defined an ability to be "in control" in the middle of an enemy camp, maybe.

Luke responded to your plan to go in alone so quickly that none of us had a chance to question your plan or be part of it, so I took what you requested to heart, be close in case I need help, and that's what your character got. If the tone you were going for when you addressed me wasn't meant to be insulting, then maybe you shouldn't have actually used an insult?

Sorry - play by post, like email, doesn't convey tone well. For example, this note may be coming off as kinda rude too, but I assure you, that is not my intention, I am just looking to point out my character's point of view.

Dammit, I had a few minutes, made a post, and accidentally switched pages instead of publishing. No time to re type, the gist was everyone should rest I stealth back to the boat to make sure it's safe +14, and camouflage it again until morning +5.

I think the knight should return to his order to let them know the supplies were intercepted. In the morning.

Writing this on the fly, haven't time right now to catch up on the gameplay thread.

I am going to be crazy swamped for the next few days. I should be able to post once a day, and if I am lucky I'll get more than that in, but no gaurntee. Feel free to assume I go with the flow if it's just me you are waiting on to chime in for a day or two.

Should be back to normal soon.

I have put an action post template up on the campaign tab if it might be useful to people.

nice. Thanks

Ok, I'll start walking over in a few minutes

4:30 and no update on the in-person game......you guys braving the weather?

Also, to be precise. He was lifted from the water and put in the boat, and we sorta glossed over getting him into the shelter. But it was implied. lol

I picked up Talon. That was covered in game.

I emailed it out. You should have gotten it about a half hour ago? ish? Con is 12

Wasn't able to move things on the map like last time though.

I notice if i go to my home page the tactical map is there. Which is a fluke because I never go to my own page. cool.

Slick-san? Going oriental?

Yes.

My idea was to originally live in a part of Arrule far far away. Being a monk, and drawing on ideas tied deeply into eastern philosophy, Asian flavouring makes the most sense.

If you want to rp talking about the fairvale five, then talk about the fair ale five. Just do it when it makes sense in the game. If Amelia doesn't react she doesn't react, that's role playing too.

Anton was still around when we ordered the badges. The 'event' happened after.

Each of us should maybe try to use a 10 minute rule?

Play by Post is level 9 as well

That's probably best, we were going to have a problem establishing a baseline pretty soon anyway.

GM_Arrule wrote:

Use whatever 9th level character you want to. Character tree or not. The character tree was a good idea in theory but has failed in practise.

Are you just talking about use here? Or generally?

go to "my account" add another alias is in there.

........you did read the above posts and know that I am playing a monk eh?

I can do that. I made the alias already. And that character sheet just needs to be adapted a little

The two other characters in my tree are a monk, which based on back story could land near the party no matter where they are. In or out of the other planes.

The other is an exile from some of the southern kingdoms, around the floating isles and such. He's adventuring in order to hone his skills in order to hopefully someday slay that blue dragon that rules down there with an iron fist. He's an arcane archer though, not a typical "dragonslayer" type.

That should be left to the parties involved to make that kind of statement. Everything else is hearesay and rumor. I was also petitioning for a full party swap.

For now I'm really not interested in playing so many different characters, I'd like the time to really develop one. I'd like to play Emrys, or I could play a weasel with an autistic wizard familiar.

oh, and also on the topic of what comes next - If we are not doing something with these characters then it should be tree characters from the emerald sky, otherwise we are just churning out more and more characters we won't care about. Not my cup of tea.

You can't back everyone's plays, because you can't believe in everyone's plays. Brian decided he wanted to make the bandits run away because we are carrying a vital cure. Good motivation, good plan.

Jesse wants to crush evil doers and bandits, they are bad guys. Good motivation, but now it's a contradictory plan.

Kevin doesn't care for good and evil, but why risk your life when you don't have to, I mean they are people no different than us, makes sense, but oh wait,, also a contradiction.

no one has a bad idea, but no one has the same idea. and that was the ideal scenario. the contradictions and circumstances get a lot worse.

I stopped making convoluted backgrounds ages ago, death ruins all plans. But I have been saying for ages that all the secretive stuff should be done away with and we should simply role-play.

First of all I like the PBP format for the most part. The two different threads for ooh and gameplay are good, and the campaign info stuff. It's just the right amount of info, not too much or little. I feel that the only format issue is in combat. I like the way you did things at the end, and found that up till that point mid round updates caused more confusion than they are worth.

I still don't think that players should move themselves on the map. We post out of order, and if we move out of order it confuses things. But it's better to have the confusing map than no map.

Roleplaying aspects are good, but we still have "the Falco conundrum" (no offence intended D) - that is to say the "why would i adventure" attitude still exists. Fleshing out a character so far that it doesn't make sense for him to go slay the dragon. I am as guilty of that as anyone this time, my character doesn't care about a lot of s@@%. Ironically that makes other roleplaying issues inconsequential to me.

I think the early challenges of over reading things and using out of game knowledge improved along the way. In the beginning there was a lot of that meta-gaming, and that caused problems throughout, but it was all based on the early meta-gaming I feel like if people were reading the spoilers later, they were able to keep it to themselves. lol

Overall the adventure was good. The final battle was a little too fats on the heels of the earlier one, and seemed a little unnecessary, like it was just put in to make sure we got to second level by the end.

All this seems like a lot of criticism, but that's just because I'm trying to think of anything that I see as having room for improvement. Again I say, I really liked the game overall. RP aspects are good, and the ability to use hypertext codes to separate ooc stuff from in game stuff, we certainly need that.

in game mechanisms for dice, also great - and the message boards are a good way to see the flow of the story.

I prefer the new structure. I think it makes it a little more clear where we are at. Round updates in the middle of rounds was making me a little unclear, had my turn come or gone, was it a new round. This gives a much clearer picture of how events are falling out.

Depending on how complicated this is, maybe we should have numbers and letters around the edge of maps, like a chess board - "Emrys to A3".

Their groups actually have cooperation with each other across the board. Craziness indeed.

The advantage of not knowing each other in real life perhaps? ;)

Been snooping through the recruitment threads on here. There are a freakin' ton of games going on, lots of pretty bizarre stuff too. There's at least a few GMs running 4+ games at a time. How can they find the time for that?

What surprised me though was that people are playing all kinds of systems here. 4e, Star Wars, all kinds of craziness out there.

Luke, I assume the best thing to do with a map like that is tell you what we plan to do, but not move anything then, since others likely act first, but then if when you move the map at the end of the round, if we are in the wrong spot, then we should correct it?

I look forward to dividing the loot. We've been doing a lot of that lately. But it's nearly time to get this pile sorted. Stupid bandits delaying us . . .

Indeed.

I think everything has been played out as far as it can be now. Onward from here!

Holy crap. I roll about as well here as I do in real life. Ugh

They are not. Something is trying and failing to use magic device.

Ah, I did not see any of our people try to do such a thing, so I assume that there is more we do not see, or did i just miss something else?

Had to make an executive decision to move things along. Your plan was a good one. Actions Up!

I can't find the plan.

Emrys is essentially waiting for anyone else to take the initiative for the moment. He's enamoured with patterns and order, so the backpack is kinda a big deal to him. But I as the player am ready to find reasons for him to back the plays of other PCs.

Emrys is likely never going to notice the sorts of things oderic does, nor do I really care - I believe in karma. ;)

A note I think we would all benefit from though, is to try to think of reasons to develop attachments to other players. Brian and I have already made a start there with the amulet and coins, jesse is clearly being genial with everyone and playing the "everyone's friend " type, and it's the sort of thing we kinda need to emphasize if we are to stay as a party. I know that my pbem games always fell apart as players spread too far apart. It then becomes too much work to make everything fit. For all people involved.

That sounds mighty cool. So many things that could be done. The PbP group could dislike the live group, or they could idolize them, or be unaware of them.

Just think of all those hooks we didn't grab. Now we could :)

I absolutely love that the 1 point of AC granted by the amulet made all the difference to that sneaky knife attack missing.

Indeed!

Ah. I understand more clearly now.

Let us finish this adventure and see where we stand.

If the consensus is that we give it a go, I will launch it and roll forward.

If that does, indeed, work out to be the direction we are going, I'd be most likely to run a pure second, concurrent camapaign with the character tree's secondary characters than as an add-on to the sunday night game where the narrative would jump a week between batches of posts.

It is true, it is hard to post more than I do now, and I will roll into crazy times during the last two months of school this year (especially as I have just accepted a job offer from the King's Playhouse) but, I am enjoying the aspects of this game I get to play with.

I like the idea of the campaign world we play here being the same one as the tabletop game. On Sundays we are playing the equivalent of Raistlin, Caramon, and crew, while on the boards we play the b-listers.

But, I'd rather keep this character going than make a new one. But if I am alone in that sentiment, well, I can compromise.

Ok, now let me be the odd voice with a differing opinion. While the game is fun, it must remain fun to be fun. I Skype in every week, more to goof around with you guys. I like good stories, but I enjoy having fun with my friends more. Not being able to talk about things or say funny things kind of takes away from that for me.

You're not the odd voice out. I concur. Groups don't last as long as ours because the game is hardcore, but because the camaraderie is.

With their high charismas bards are often pretty, it's true.

Those abilities are pretty hot....

Scalding hot.

There. It's been said, now I can move on.

Replaced my placeholder actions with a real action since I am home now.

Since I am about to head to work, and thus be offline till likely 6 or 7 o'clock tonight, I' m going to put a few round 5/6 plans down. Won't be too fancy since they won't be well formed plans, but there will be something at least.

And I do have a 3rd spell for my 20 intelligence. The third prepared spell is Ear-Piercing Scream, as per my original plan, before I mistakenly thought I only had 2 spells.....not terribly useful with undead though. but it is what it is. I thought it was very in character a choice.
