Sounds good to me

Shogure turns to the others, unsure of how to proceed.

"I don't think we'll win this through poison or witchery. However, with the state of this town, it may be easy to convince the kitsune that the bandits are behind the destruction of their forest."

Shogure will be an available trainer, as well. He has a +11 in Profession(Instructor) so his training shouldn't be too bad, but he's not that likable. Also might be good on recon.

None here

Sorry I didn't post during the conversation with the villagers. We can say Shogure stood back and let his comrades take the stage.

"Any lumber you might be able to gather, preferably larger pieces, or even any wooden rakes or other tools would be greatly appreciated. We can chop and file them down into staves, javelins, and clubs for those that don't have weapons and use the spare wood to sharpen pit spikes. We can train those that don't know how to use them."

"If we can find some oil or other flammable material, we can also set up firewalls, using thrown torches to light them."

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

Shogure picks up a couple of the tools and brings them with him to demo with Tahei.

He demonstrates with Tahei how to use what he finds, even if it means utilizing a mop as a quarterstaff, as well as how to defend against armed attacks while unarmed, explaining his movements as best he can while he goes.

Profession(Instructor): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26

Shogure will spend the time talking to those who come out and seeing if he can find in the town some simple tools, such as hatchets, daggers, clubs, and hand-scythes, used for cutting crops.

I think it would be a good idea to give a demonstration, if we can.

He will return after a while of wandering to tell the others of his idea.

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

Shogure nods along with the others, having nothing else to add to the conversation.

I just hope they have enough townspeople in shape to learn to fight. They look like a weak and fearful bunch.

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

Following the others around to the hut, Shogure explains his intentions plainly.

"Yes, if they are the bandits. I want to stay on as well to teach those that would learn how to use farm equipment to defend themselves."

"It would be pointless to just leave you undefended should other bandits come in to take their place."

Shogure had never heard such jokes, his master and fellows before never speaking such. He had quite a laugh.

As the group approached the town, however, he takes on a different face. He looks seriously at the town before him, trying to find reason for their running. Are they just afraid of outsiders, or is this something more?

Perception: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (11) + 16 = 27

He also checks to see if there is some holy relic nearby that might help the group relate to the townsfolk.

Though recognizing the shrine, Shogure has nothing of his own to leave, so simply bows his head in thanks for the shelter and wine.

Masamune's story leaves him visibly upset as he stands and paces in thought. After a few moments, he sits down again, having come to some conclusion.

"I think we have a greater chance now that I have heard your story. The boy Orochi and you saved, should he still be there, will recognize you. We can use him to get the other villagers to more easily trust us so that we can begin their training."

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

Shogure enjoys the quick presentation and laughs at Daren's dragon roar comment and kick. The group is certainly shaping up to be interesting. Sure that they could take down this warrior should he choose to attack, he decides to be upfront.

"In other words, he's in the back. I'm Shogure. It is nice to meet another willing to take on this cause. What is it that brings you to us?"

"If you wish to speak to Masamune directly...well, I'm not sure what it would take to wake up the sleeping dragon now."

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

Shogure accepts Orochi's introduction at face value, not knowing anything of nobility.

"Yes, we met. I do apologize again for before. How did come to find such a master, Orochi?"

Before Orochi can answer, a new face appears. As the bowman approaches, Shogure looks over to find Daren handling the situation in an interesting way, so he decides to watch and see what happens.

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

Shogure walks up to the cart with the others, ready to begin the journey. He follows close to the other tengu, his curiosity plain.

"Hisui, could you teach me a bit about Tsukiyo as we walk? I'm curious about the gods, but I know very little. Maybe a story would lighten our steps."

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

"Perhaps it will be just us six. To those who have just arrived, well met. I am Shogure, a simple follower of Hei Feng and student of the sword."

Shogure is clothed in a simple robe and sandals, the hilt of his unseen sword sticking out as a handle to the bag he carries over his shoulder. His feathers are an unremarkable sandy brown and are thicker at his arms than most Tengu.

"Masamune-sama, perhaps you could tell us a little more about both village and bandits while we wait?"

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

"Oh, quite the opposite. My kind is not very widely accepted. I apologize for my rudeness. My name is Shogure. I'm curious what you think of this 'errand'." Shogure quietly analyzes Tahei as he speaks, his hand firmly around the hilt of his sword, very curious about this new 'ally'.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (7) + 16 = 23

I figure that Shogure is not too smart and might think Tahei a potential bandit or assassin attempting to thwart Masamune's attempt to defend the town. He's a little paranoid about potential threats.

Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds 4 | HP 26/26 | AC 18, FF 10, Tch 18, CMD 17 | Init +3 | Fort +5, Ref +6, Wll +9 | Spd 40ft | Senses: LL Vision, Perc 16(14), SM 16(12)

Shogure watches silently and with some curiosity as the warrior approaches and stares into the water. He finds the the introduction odd and his reply shows this with obvious transparency.

"I think this is the first time I've been called 'honored sir' and I did not expect it to come from a human. I am a simple devotee of Hei Feng, whose wind has carried me here. I suppose I am now one of Masamune's men, as well, though."

I just need to add the simple clothing, sandals, sack, bowl, and blanket to his list. The remaining 650 gp or so is donated to the town we are currently in or considered forfeit per his vow.

Shogure, finding very little else to do with his time, leaves what little gold he had acquired at a random doorstep and wanders toward the cherry blossom-covered bridge eager to learn more about the others who will arrive to help.

We didn't already lose Daren in the 7 Swords game, did we?

Tark:
"I disagree. Only in a world where everyone can learn to survive on their own merit can peace, to some measure, be attained. All should be equal in their yearning for self-improvement.

He takes another sip of tea, savoring a flavor he has long been denied.

"I will await you by the bridge" I wonder who else will answer this call?

With nothing else to occupy his time, Shogure heads straight towards the edge of town, ready to search for this sakura bridge.

Tark:
"Your flyer brought me directly, but I am on a journey of self-improvement that I believe has led me here for two reasons." He takes a small sip of tea before continuing.

"First, I wish to fight alongside a great samurai to strengthen my abilities. Second, I think I can teach the villagers how to defend themselves and maybe find a student of my own that will join me on my travels to become stronger."

I'm better than some, worse than others. Overall having a great day on the PbP's, though.

Tark:
"Oh, your disciple! I apologize." Shogure exclaims. He lifts his right hand to the back of his neck in a sign of embarrassment as he lowers his bag to the ground and takes his seat, folding his legs under him. "I was worried that some bandits may have seen the notice and beaten me here."

He presses his palms together in front of him and bows his head in appreciation of the meeting and the tea. "It is nice to meet you, Lord Masamune."

Hey people. I'm in the seven swordsman game as long as our "cuddly" GM doesn't decide to kill me off XD. How's everyone doing?

Reactions:
"I am Shogure, a simple traveler and swordsman. I hope we can be allies."

He walks forward towards the door as he speaks, shifting his sack so his left hand grasps it around the handle. He turns suddenly upon entering, striking out at the swordsman in the doorway with his free hand and his beak.

Nonlethal Unarmed: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 Damage if hit: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Nonlethal Beak: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 Damage if hit: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

Yes, I saw that. I was unsure if I should roll as both skills would be at 17 even if I rolled 1's. I can delete this post if you'd rather I roll those first.

Edit: Just in case the time limit to delete expires:

Reactions:
Clad in a simple robe and sandals, carrying a long sack over his shoulder with a handle for some object sticking out of it, Shogure, the brown Tengu, follows the notices in hopes of both meeting the old master samurai and helping the village. As he turns toward the small hut, he can't help but form a small smile at the edges of his beak.

"Ah, but you must be Lord Masamune, am I right?" He walks toward the hut but stops about halfway to the door. "I don't mean to seem ungrateful before such a noted samurai, but it seems you are missing a setting; or will it just be us, after all?" His grip on his sack loosens slightly as he asks this.

That's cool. I'm glad I'm in, then. I'm looking forward to it.

Thanks for the consideration.

Missed me on your list above.

It's on the table on that page. I think merciful is a separate cost ability, but it should be plus the cost of a masterwork naginata, not just a normal one.

Here. Remember that all abilities after the first (including making it magical) are at 1.5x the price.

I hope he is a little forgiving with the weapon. I don't really know what else to do with the money in my case.

My final submission is ready, except for the basic clothes and such. All extra gold to go back into village, as I cannot accept it.

Story:
Shogure was born different from others of his clan. Whereas they had black feathers and were intelligent, concepts such as language coming easy to them, his feathers were of a medium brown. He was better at perceiving the things around him and had odd arms that caught the wind.

Due to his differences he was teased and bullied. He was punished where others were taught. It came as no surprise to them when he chose to leave his clan and find refuge elsewhere. Many were relieved.

As he visited other clans and even other races, he found the same prejudices against him and many would not even help him with food or shelter. It seemed likely he would not survive for long. At the point of exhaustion and near starvation, he collapsed on the road.

He awoke to the face of another odd Tengu, this one with almost silver grey feathers. This Tengu introduced himself as Kokuin, an adventurer and devotee of Hei Feng, the Duke of Thunder. He agreed to train Shogure in exchange for five years of service with his adventuring party.

So Shogure begun his training under Kokuin "the Swift", a master known for his insight and ability to respond quickly to problems that others don't detect. Kokuin was also known for his lightning beak and his unique swords that his wizard friend crafted.

When Shogure's training ended, Kokuin granted him one of his old swords, and told Shogure to work to perfect his unique talents and seek students of his own. Thus he began his journey, seeking out new experiences in places he had never been.

Just got started on him, but working on a Tengu Sensei / Monk of the Four Winds that alternates between unarmed and sword combat.

Character Concept:
A follower of Hei Feng, this traveling swordsman wields a heavy nine-ring broadsword, his free hand sparking with thunderous energy. His kind is despised for their will to survive against the odds and will never attain rank in human society, but to Shogure, that is not what matters.

His feathers are the dark brown of a hawk and his eyes stare outward at the world around him. His feathers hang down from his arms to form makeshift wings. He is young, but his eyes show great focus and experience.
