Shangruon walks past Toriel, pausing to look at her before dropping the wand into her hand with a snort. "If there truly is something threatening the balance of this world, it is probably for the best that I face it alone."

My only concern is that my character might not work well in PBP, because most of the combat skills will involve retaliating to attacks of opportunity, retaliating to missed enemy attacks as immediate actions, and also being able to avoid attack as an immediate action.

Shangruon looks around at the group for a moment before saying. "I am Shangruon. I care only about balance." He casually points a finger at Toriel and then Angus while he says, "You seem shifty, and you, undisciplined. I do not trust you two." Shagruon shows no signs of malice or hate despite the accusatory words. He simply resumes his silence and waits for others to speak.

Shangruon's attention is entirely focus on the wand. Rejecting this gift would certainly bring only more tension, but the object's purpose is quite insulting and vulgar. He tucks it away on his person silently and strokes his thick facial hair.

Shangruon glances at Toriel momentarily as she passes by. Spreading his legs as his center of balance shifts closer to the ground, he rears back as the monster lets out a viscious roar. With a glint of determination in his eyes, Shanruon quickly springs forward like an uncoiling snake and jabs his spear towards the beast's side. Spear Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

Shangruon clears is throat as the fiery lady approaches him, but spends a moment trying to formulate the right words in his head. "Passion is unruly, dangerous. Orcs with passion murder and kill and break, get themselves killed. Humans with passion covet and desire, make big wars. Flames can be good, they burn away bad stuff and cauterize, but a passionate flame turns everything into ash."

Shangruon shifts subtly left to right from one foot to the other. To anyone who might be watching him he would seem visibly uncomfortable. "These lands are unfamiliar to me... I would not like to linger any longer than is necessary."

Shangruon braces himself as the imp charges forward but then the creature passess by them in smoke. He watches as it runs off and does not attempt to stop it, turning his attention back onto the altar instead. "This place is a mess." He grunts in contempt. He wonders what being these sacrifices could be for.

Shsngruon looks at the objects in question and has utterly no idea what idea is supposed to be there. This lack of awareness makes him very uncomfortable and so he suggests, "Better to leave this and go check other door."

Shangruon gazes at the largest pair of doors, clearly wanting to go that way. Inside he is considering going through without the group anyways, but considering how there where monsters behind the last doorway it might be best for him to stick with the group. He turns and says to Jarkrazal. "My name is Shangruon. I'm following you, for now." Shangruon stands on the other side of the elf, following Jarkrazal's example.

How will PC attacks of opportunity be handled? Are our characters assumed to make the first possible one they can, unless otherwise stated. Or do we have to specifically state whenever our characters plan to make one against a type of enemy action?

Shangruon swiftly enhances his stance with panther style as he begins moving to position himself between the two beetles hiding in the back. Even though he is yet too slow to retaliate against any possible strikes from the foe beside him, the ranged attacks are the one most concerning in this situation. Whether he is able to threaten both beetles or not, Shangruon begins his assault onto the one whose attack has thus far been most successful, leaning forward to pound it into the ground with his fist. Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
If his strike lands true, he will turn his head back and acknowledge Jarkralzak's role in this battle with a consolatory grunt. Temporary Modifiers:

Shangruon quickly steps into the stance of the turtle upon hearing these creatures are vermin. "It is clear now that his place has fallen into disarray. These creatures do not belong here." Shangruon grunts noncommentally at the antics of the mysterious merchant as they grab his attention towards the other adventurers."What could be the intentions of locking that door from our side?" He asks aloud to no one in particular. He seems particularly uncomfortable with the entire situation, but not really fearful. Shangruon silently examins the dwarf to see if he represents something he is familiar with. Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Shangruon waits to see how the door will react to being opened, as its behavior is the largest indicator of the owner's intentions to keep those who should not gain entry outside, or if it is simply an open invitation for anyone to come inside and take refuge.

"I think this weather is very unnatural" Shangruon blurts out abruptly, "If had the choice, I would like to be inside rather than outside, but this place might belong to somebody who doesn't like strangers... or half-orcs." Shangruon walks up to the door in an obvious attempt at observation. Perception for doors: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Shangruon is a half-orc male with thick, dark brown well-kempt hair which is bristled, yet kept at a even length all through out. He has two symmetrically sharpened tusks protruding from the bottom of his lips and a few faded scars along his face and other visible parts of his body which have been marked over with tribal tattoos in elegant curves. His clothing consists of a simple sturdy leather overcoat, which seems mainly for protection against the weather and shows the indicative wear and tear, light fabric bandage wraps which cover the majority of his mid-section and also lightly cover his fists, and finally loose fitting pants which are frayed along the bottom edges. He wears no shoes and his feet have become rougher for it, but the nails are well trimmed. His eyes are a light shade of amber, similar to the color of his jacket. Shangruon steps into the room silently, attempting to draw no attention to himself, but under no illusion that he could possibly be invisible. He puts away his spear which he had been using in one hand to assist in his marching along his long journey. From the far edges of the crowd, he makes his way towards the merchant and the others speaking to him to gather what he can about the current situation, their excited tones only increasing his suspicions that something is not right around this area.

Anyways, here is my character's background: Shangruon was the runt of a half-orc family of five, deliberately spawned by the orc chieftain at the time in his campaign to create more cunning children who would be too weak to threaten his power. Because of his weakness Shangruon was often beaten up by his more brutish siblings, and quickly learned that fighting back was futile, he would only learn by watching how his brothers fought with each other. By the age of maturity, Shangruon was well aware of his brethren's fighting styles, and would use their predictability against them in combat. Such behavior did not go unnoticed by his clever half-orc sister Meghra, the shaman's apprentice, who saw him as the most promising of the group. She confided in him a plot to murder the chieftain, their father, and take over as leaders of the tribe. His part in the coup would be to take out all of his brothers, the only ones smart enough to stop them, but Shangruon had no desire in authority and troubles that came with it and thus refused her. In the end Meghra betrayed him, personally telling him he was neither an orc, nor a man(male) as she rallied his three brothers to beat him up and drag him out into the wild to die alone. Shangruon did not dislike the peace and quiet, and for a while all was well. However, he could not overcome the violence of the past, and preying upon the wild beasts of nature was not enough of a challenge to put his mind at rest. He eventually was discovered by a monk, who was sent to slay him by nearby fearful villagers, but instead chose to teach him the ways of living a balanced life in harmony within himself and with the world around him. For years Shangruon has lived this way in hermitage, secluding himself from a world that would not accept him in the first place. But now he again begins to feel unsettled, and wonders what is changing about the world.

Hello everyone, I am brand new to this forum, and only have a little bit of experience with pathfinder, but I have lots of experience with RP and complicated tabletop games. I plan on playing a master of styles monk. |
